- oztooltalk take a good look at the LONG awaited framing nail gun from Milwaukee.
The new FUEL Framer (M18FFN / 2745) has just launched and has arrived with huge fanfare. First impressions are that this gun packs a HUGE punch., in typical Milwaukee style.
It has specifications as follows:
Length - 358 mm / 14.1 inches
Weight - 5.1 kgs / 11.1 lbs (with 3Ah battery)
Nail type - 50 - 90 mm, 30-34°
Magazine capacity - 51 (regular) / 93 (extended)
Runtime per 3Ah battery ~ 420 nails
Power source - 18V Battery
Motor type - Compressed Nitrogen driven
Firing rate - 3 per second (bump mode)

Just bought 2 of these. This is what I been waiting for!! No more compressors, hose and hose repair, or coupling replacement. 6 amp battery stayed on 4 bars all day. It is a little heavy but no more trying to get an extra few feet of hose when your up in the rafters. The convenience far out ways the initial cost. By the way, great review guys. I think this will pip Hikoki to the 1st and 2nd nailer battery market within the next 2 years.
My reasoning is Milwaukee has a much better surrounding 18v platform that with High Demand batteries their cordless stuff that would normally need to be a mains only type tool can go toe to toe.
As Well as having a slightly better price to performance ratio on their 18v lineup too.
These are finally available to purchase from authorised resellers here in the UK with the 18g nailer too!

After a day with it can say the best thing is the lower pressure needed to push the nose in to fire. Have been using the hikoki for a year, loved it, but the nose pressure would stuff you around when your trying to skew into a tight spot and the gun pushes your timber of the mark.

I'm a 130lb carpenter and I honestly don't understand all the complaints about the weight. I frame all day, even holding over my head and I got over it. You big boys can do the same.

Hi mate, with the allan key I noticed you were putting it in the wrong way. If you actually insert the longer part of the allan key into the holder it goes right in and clicks in nice and tight. Good review mate I just picked one of these up last week and I love it

Would like to see how it goes firing through 19mm scyon in to LVL. Quite a common duo of materials in the residential game that almost always means spending a bunch of time setting up your compressor and hose (then a bunch of time packing it away). That would be the real game changer.

Agreed - although they have shown some dense/hardwoods in the video.
This will match and beat gas nailers and will probably match high quality air nailer and high quality compressor combinations.
@@shifty277 except it's way heavier probably twice as heavy an an air framer, and way heavier than a Paslode. Forgot to mention slow even on bump fire. Try using it all day. Also more expensive. How people keep reviewing and saying this boat anchor is good is beyond me. Come on be honest people
Seems like a sweet gun! Once im working again after this whole convid thing il have to pick one up. Id prob go the kit and keep it as a kit. If i was on a larger job id prob be taking my milwaukee 7 1/4 saw and that too so would have a few extra batteries with me.

i bought my Hikoki about 2-3 weeks before finding out about Milwaukee's framer.
All of my battery tools are already Milwaukee so not having to worry about 2 chargers would have been nice.
Also the pressure that it takes to fire the Hikoki when im shooting on the back angle, using my thumb makes it really difficult sometimes depending on what position i'm in.
Would you be able to tell me if the pressure required to depress the tip of the Milwaukee framer is the same as the Hikoki framer or if its lighter?

Put a slight bend in the Allen key and it’ll fit much tighter.

Yes it does, a compressed lifetime cylinder. Hence why it sounds similar too. Glad you enjoyed the vid 👍🏼

No refill. It's Captive system.
@@OZToolTalk it's the same as hikoki's, it will leak/lose its gas over time. You have to take the hikoki to a service centre to recharge so this will be no different. Unless Milwaukee have invented the first lossless hydraulic/pneumatic ever made. 🤔
Can I use the 20 degree adapter on the 30 degree model?
Don't even bother with the dewalt absolute rubbish! !!!!!! Hi guys a great review you both touched on inportant topics, but you should also include what happens when a nail jambs! How easy to clear! I have been building for to long, I refuse to buy paslode I mainly run air guns I have dealt battery gun at the moment but have to say it is with out a doubt the biggest heap of junk ever fixed twice under warranty fixed once out of warranty! This is a gen two gun what a waste of money! !!!!!!!!ps sad to say but I am not interested in fixing it again but once again I thought it was a fair review

Where does the compressed nitrogen come from? as opposed to compressed air?
not sure how they source it. But i will say that 'air' is 70% nitrogen, so can't be that hard to get right?! ;)

Makita applied for patents in the US for a 1st fix framing battery only nailer - fingers crossed for a release in the 2nd half of this year for a reveal at a tool show.
Could be released next year due to coron* vir*s

any 30-34 degree nails, like paslode produce, just like most other framers

FYI Milwaukee produced nailers of this style (compressed nitrogen) before Hikoki/Hitachi
@@OZToolTalk oh really, may be because hitachi made it first that's why it looks like they copied it, how come hitachi thought about it first that them? Anyways it still looks they copied hitachi. Because they are late in the game.

Until they get the weight out of these guns they will only good for someone who uses them infrequently. Use these everyday and your joints will be cooked. Their ok below your waist but useless overhead. In most of your demos you can’t even get it 90deg because of the weight if my apprentices would get grilled for nailing that shit . As for no maintenance my hitachi has been recharged that many times I’ve lost count . With Milwaukee s history with nail guns I won’t be rushing out to get one .
We hadn't heard of any Hikoki's having to be refilled. Interesting.
Oz Tool Talk unfortunately I’ve know of a few now I run a framing crew so they get a work out they tend to last about 18mnths then the valve starts to discharge. I took it to the rep after the fourth time going to total tools for repair and he took it to his repairer so we will see how we go.

I do a lot of work on ladders, scaffolding and roof framing. I'd rather have a heavier gun than having to drag a mile of hose behind me. Gets awkward and dangerous at times.
