    At the end when it was reassembled,what the first issue was that the firing rod was extended,if anyone else runs into this,just remove nails and dry fire it it resets the rod position :) great video btw!!

      hi where can i get the schematics of this tool? i need to reassemble the gearbox

    • @BuyitFixit
      @BuyitFixit  Год назад

      There are no schematics. Most of the tools use a planetary gearbox arrangement where there are 3 cogs in the centre where the motor shaft goes with an outer cog, this then usually connects to another similar set (I disassembled a drill some time ago)

    Thank you sir. I took a gamble on Milwaukee battery powered tools. Replaced all my pneumatics and corded power tools with Milwaukee platform. If a pneumatic gun goes down, it's easy to order parts and they are not nearly as expensive to replace. So, upon trimming my third house using the battery platform, when my 18 gauge lost it's oomph, I was heartbroken that I may have to dish out 300 bux for a replacement. Hopefully, this video will prove to be helpful.

    I bought this nail gun as we were planning to renew all the fencing in our back garden. As this involved 19 double slatted fence panels, 10 of which needed to be cut down in size, we knew there would be a need for a great ruclips.net/user/postUgkxHQsUrwNr5GQrnx9V4xDdUr56qxwuiBHt deal of re-stapling the wooden slats to the wooden framework. Each alteration required the re-stapling of 62 wooden slats with double staples. Prior to starting the work we ordered sufficient additional staples as per the instructions with the gun.The gun performed fantastically throughout the entire project with no jams of misfires. The adjustable power was excellent allowing the staples to be fired into the 8mm slats to the correct depth. For the price paid this was a bargain and it proved itself to be so reliable and versatile making an arduous task much quicker and professional. I cannot recommend this product highly enough and it will be used on many other projects in the future.

    Hi,
    Found your vids really helpful.
    It's hard to have these filled with nitrogen as I'm not sure if there is a maximum psi lable on cylinder. So tyre or diving shops are reluctant to touch.
    Theses no info around to give maximum psi that you kindly supplied.
    So air pump it is. Did you use some kind of regulator on that pump. As it's hard to get an accurate 160 psi with a gauge that goes up into the 4000's

    • @BuyitFixit
      @BuyitFixit  Год назад

      Thanks 👍. I was told around 160psi, but s viewer recently said he thought it was too much and around 120psi was better. You can always start lower and add a few more pumps you think it's not powerful enough. Yes it was hard to gauge on the gauge as you said due to the scale.

    Do you think the narrow 1/4 crown stapler gun m18 also works the same as these ? So how often those this maintenance has to been done ? And one big quest does Milwaukee warranty cover this service of the refill of air or there’s is a cost even the 3/5 years warranty , so you used just a compressor to fill up no special gas like nitrogen? I saw the ryobi version brush but they use the same motor to sort of compres the air in like a chamber no need of compressor which is good and bad as idont know how deep can the brad or staples can penetrate the material. They usually fill them with Nitrogen but since air contains about 78% Nitrogen I guess that will work fine. What I wonder is are the two sealing rings symmetrical or do they have a specific orientation just like an Automotive Piston rings?

    • @BuyitFixit
      @BuyitFixit  11 месяцев назад

      I'm not sure about the rings orientation, but yes agree with the 78% nitrogen. When I looked into it at the time it said somewhere that it was to stop variations in pressure due to different temperatures which probably wouldn't make a lot of difference unless you are uning it in extreme cold or extreme hot conditions I would have thought.

      I think it is a 1/8 BSP male connection, as searching for similar pumps that's pretty much what they said.
      The pump used was a stirrup pump for a PCP air rifle, but apparently Scott used a high pressure bike pump that goes up to 160psi with an adapter he made from a normal bike style valve to a 1/8 bsp male.

Hydrogen is lighter than air and effects the electrochemical kinetics of the metal. not sure what's worse pitting or rust? I guess if the air was clear and dry it shouldn't make a difference. Thoughts?

    • @BuyitFixit
      @BuyitFixit  6 месяцев назад

      The canister is used like an air spring. The gas in the cylinder is compressed and gets compressed even more when the motor winds the ratchet back. When you press the trigger the firing solenoid gets energised and releases the firing pin / ratchet which then shoots forward. If there is a slight leak the cylinder loses pressure over time resulting in a kind of farting noise when you try to fire the gun.

      There's a solenoid that release it (fires the gun). I'd be very careful doing that though. What I did was empty the remaining gas and stripped everything down (as in the video) then there is no issue and probably a lot sater. If it still has gas it, I'd watch your fingers if you release the pin manually. Perhaps move it with a screwdriver or something so your hand's are well out of the way. The little solenoid is silver and has a little lever on it that gets pulled in and releases the firing pin.

    • @BuyitFixit
      @BuyitFixit  9 месяцев назад

      What pressure does your compressor go up to? You need to have 160PSI for it to function correctly. Try pressing the valve centre to see if anything comes out. If it won't pressurise then there must be a leak. Perhaps try filling it and then listen to see if you can hear where there is air escaping? I doubt it will be the valve and more than likely one of the seals. Did you strip it down and clean it all?

    • @danielrussell8764
      @danielrussell8764 9 месяцев назад +1

      My compressor goes up to 180psi, but when I try to pressurise the canister, it stops at 100psi and won't go any higher.
      The valve definitely holds some pressure as I can release the air by pressing on the valve. Do I need a higher out compressor.
      The spring is then extra hard to pull out of the canister, hence why I thought that it must still retain air.

    • @BuyitFixit
      @BuyitFixit  9 месяцев назад +1

      no, no need. I explained in the video description about the opening pressures of Schrader valves as someone said the video was fake due to not pressing the centre pin. The air pressure to open the valve is only a few PSI more than the internal pressure of what is in the cylinder so if the cylinder has 30PSI inside and you try to put 36PSI in, the valve will open regardless. It's there to stop the air coming out 🙂

  • @andystieg6339
    @andystieg6339 Год назад +3

    I came across this because of my 2nd gen brad nailer which is making the same sound.
    It appears as if the grinding noise is the chain "gear " mechanism trying to move the already-moved piston into the cylinder to compress the air for a quick release(fire) but can't because there is no pressure to fire it.
    If I simply add air or nitrogen without disassembly & cleanout of seals it will just happen again.
    Sounds like I will be tearing mine apart this afternoon.
    Note: I hope I don't need any internal replacement parts as it appears as if milwaukee doesn't offer any for my 2746-20

    • @BuyitFixit

      You can just fill it up, if it's leaked it will probably do the same again over time I'd suspect. You're probably best off cleaning it all out and re-greasing it. I've also got a brad nailer to look at. I'd suspect it will be pretty much the same as the crown stapler which I also repaired (might be worth checking that video if you haven't seen it).

    Hi @BuyitFixit, my 21 degree framing nailer is still not working i took it apart and cleaned and greased everything and when i put it back together and reset the firing pin it did the initial reset sound then it started clicking and lights started blinking, any idea what it would be?

    • @leonidesocegueda9718
      @leonidesocegueda9718 3 месяца назад

      Before i took it apart the gun would sink a nail completely and then start clicking and i would reset the firing pin and and it would sink a nail and start clicking again, been trying to find any information available to find the problem but i can seem to find it, i think you had mentioned the hall effect sensor is another common problem but how can i diagnose it?

    • @BuyitFixit
      @BuyitFixit  3 месяца назад

      Sorry for the late reply. The fix here is if it's not sinking nails. It sounds indeed like a hall effect or sensor problem. The gun should detect that it's "re-wound" the firing pin. There is a sensor that detects that. It sounds like either the sensor has failed / or possibly a broken wire or something. There should be a couple of wires, I think one is the pressure switch that detects when the gun is pressed against an object, and the other is a sensor that detects when the firing pin is back to the home position.

    Recharging it is simple enough it's when it actually breaks down or a part fails basically some of the more important parts Milwaukee will not sell the part to the general public authorized service personnel only service in themself void warranty

    • @BuyitFixit
      @BuyitFixit  7 месяцев назад

      Yes, parts for a lot of Milwaukee tools aren't readily available, and even when they are I've found they tend to sell a full assembly rather than individual components. I repaired a M18 orbital sander which the motor shaft had snapped. You could not buy the motor, but had to buy a whole assembly with bearings, belts, cogs etc which was £89 and a new sander was only £99! I managed to find almost the exact motor on Aliexpress and repaired it for £9.

    160 psi so let your compressor fill up at 160 and then let all the 160 air in it? Or just some

    • @BuyitFixit
      @BuyitFixit  7 месяцев назад

      If you used a compressor, the pressure would just equalize. It won't take in more than it's capacity. I used an air rifle stirrup pump and it was roughly 160PSI that I put in it, but was told from someone else that 160PSI is correct. If in doubt, you can always try a lower PSI, and test, then increase in increments until you get the desired power.

      Hi, I already put the dimensions in the description 1/8 bsp male, as someone else had asked also. You should be able to get one off ebay or amazon I'd think. Be aware you need to have about 160psi with the piston fully out before it retracts.

      @BuyitFixit  2 года назад +1

      I'm not sure of the original gas (possibly nitrogen?), but plain old compressed air seems to work just fine. I just used an air rifle stirrup pump, as you need about 160 PSI, and normal compressors etc don't usually go that high.
