  • In this video we're having a look at a Milwaukee circular saw. The unit is dead apart from the LED that lights up when pressing the trigger. I disassemble the unit, diagnose faults on the PCB, and show how to re-assemble the unit.
The unit inside is very similar to the SDS drills I have repaired in another video, although the firmware would be different as the circular saw doesn't implement speed control.
Replacing the blown mosfets inside the device usually fixes them.... however not always it seems....and some parts aren't readily available :(
You can always buy the complete motor assembly from Milwaukee, but where's the fun in that!

That‘s Milwaukee. DIY quality with a Big Price Tag. Only LED and no motor trying to run - not worth opening.

Working on 1 that looks new & has power to the motor , led lights & that is all that happens. Trigger isn't the problem, when triggered, power sent to the motor , it was bought for diy & has only been used on 2 projects, & FAILED pisspoor Milwaukee

Pisspoor effort from milwaukee, they need to be accountable for it

I'm from Russia, I bought 2 tools m12 2553, this is an impact driver, I bought them already broken, I fixed the first one in 20 minutes, there was a drop of solder on the legs of the motor driver, the second one I try to revive sometimes by measuring everything I can measure on its board 😂 It is not possible to find a datasheet or any information on this drv. The only thing I could find was a guy from China who wrote that this is confidential information and he cannot share it because he signed an agreement. It's a shame that Milwaukee doesn't give you the opportunity to repair their instrument, but it's good that they didn't put transistors inside the driver chip 😂😂🤣

With the number of Milwaukee products that you feature on your channel I don`t think I would purchase any Milwaukee product

This failure happens on the gen 2 7-1/4 inch versions too but, it’s less common. I dropped off my M18 fuel gen 2 circular saw at the nearest Milwaukee service center for warranty work because it’s less than a year old since the tool been hesitating.

Milwaukee it’s a Shi….brand, I had problems with batteries, charges and saw, never again.

Another great video. Shame it couldn't be fixed. That was about where I got to with the fsx sawzall, even replaced the driver chip but no luck. Back of the cupboard for now.

Mines now dead dead. Bought it, two projects around the house. It died. A few months later worked again; then died again and hasn’t worked since. Off to repair it goes. Thankfully still under warrantee.

Have just started my re-discovery of....... actually it might be possible to fix this (after being returned from Milwaukee Germany, deemed unfixable/ not worth it) & glad I stumbled across your channel. Thank you! Soldering iron I fixed thanks to another channel, batteries thanks to a Greek guy & guys channel, & now is time for the circular saw & rotary hammer drill thanks to you! Please keep up the great informative videos!

  • @thetraindriver01

A great effort, it was interesting to see the mosfet fault finding even if you didnt get a full fix, there's always another to fix next time 👍😊

  • @luken5448

    Very helpful, thank you!

I have had 2 failed Milwaukee 18v circular saws now, didn't register, so too expensive to fix. Now I bought the equivalent Makita and I am not held to one brand. The Makita is the superior saw, lighter and not so bulky .

I have been watching Dean Doherty repair a variety of cordless tools and Milwaukee comes in for a lot of criticism from him for not being worth repairing because of the lack of availability if individual spare parts.

Are the mosfets a weak point in milwaukee tools? Great video I really enjoy watching them

I have M18 Miter Saw 10" that I tried to cut 10" treated wood but the blade got stuck. I foolishly continued to press the switch but it went dead. I read in a web that one person could remove dust or small particle and got it spin again. But when I contacted Milwaukee, they said once happened there is no fix except replacing the motor assembly. They did not say about trigger switch. Two lessons learned were; 1- this saw does not have "Overload Protection" and 2- Yes, Milwaukee will fix it after 5 years using Serial number. Unfortunately, my machine (2734-20) died after 5 years and few weeks.

  • @Abdul-mh5zh

Great video! I have mine the front led light always on even when it's not in use... Do you have any idea why?

  • @rickihicki434

I have one of these that stops working every couple of days! I open it up and during this process the fault then goes away? I have no idea what the problem is but thought it might be a simple fix compared with your issues? I suppose the problem could be anywhere but thought I would ask your opinion. Any suggestions, would be most grateful. Regards. Kel.
