Very Impressive as always Dean, Being able to tear apart a near 20 year old tool with so many components toss all the parts in a pile, clean them and reassemble and have it working good as new while explaining what your doing is a true talent. Thank you for sharing
Brilliant, this step by step guide is priceless. I'm hoping now I've given it a full service it will work. If not, I believe it's the switches. Unfortunately with this old particular module certain parts are no longer manufactured. The part that I could not find was the 'Molded Circuit Assembly'
Yep, Dean, I will be pulling apart an old passlode just like you. Screws and bolts will go flyin through the air to all corners of my bench, some will even fall on the floor, or get wedged in places I won't be able to find them. But it won't matter a hoot, because once its in pieces it will be stayin in pieces, just long enough to put them all in a big plastic shopping bag, because there's no way I'm goin to remember how to put it all back together. Yep pulling it apart is easy, it's the putting it back together that's hard. You just make it "look" so easy.
Have this exact nail gun and it's been one of my most reliable tools with just simple maintenance they were built to last, it just keeps going. Keeping them clean and lubed is the key to longevity.
Sir I new to your channel and I’m subscribing this is the most impressive exploration I’ve ever seen I’m looking to buy one that’s not working I’m hoping it’s not too expensive in fixing I’ll keep watching and hope you can show me the way to fix it like this video thanks for sharing kudos to your knowledge
I have cleaned many of those Paslode Impulse nailers for folks. If I had a dollar for every time someone brought me the tool saying it was broke and I had to tell them that they had an old fuel cell I would be a rich man! I wish that I had your cleaning tub. great job as always!
Haven’t seen all your videos but finally saw one where you explained the reasoning to your throwing the parts around on your table. Would it still not be more efficient to have a bit more order to it, like having small trays at the end of the table to throw the parts more ordered, either from disassembly order, or parts order like screws, O rings, etc.. I understand for you, reassembling these tools is as easy as assembling a cheese burger for most of us, but even for a cheese burger, it would be quicker to make, to have the mince, buns, cheese, spices, etc., each in its own place
@@aydenandchase7220Given Dean's skill level I believe it would be SLOWER if he had to work out which bin or tray to put the individual parts in. As he said, he knows exactly where everything is when he is ready to rebuild so it would take him longer to find them if they were all in separate places. He has developed his work process over many years and thousands of machines.
@@philgallagher1 I've been watchin' Dean for a while and he seems to be doin' just fine. I couldn't do it that way but, I respect hoe he is able to do it the way he does. I am clumsy so I'd lose half of everything lol. Man he knows his stuff. I like how he goes beyond fixing the problem and cleaning the parts in the parts washer ect. If I needed a tool fixed, he would DEFINITELY be the guy I'd send it too
Great video. Got mine up and running with a minimal service but I know it’d benefit from a complete disassembly like this. What fluid do you use in the parts washer?
Hi Dean. Love your videos and you have inspired me to try and get my brothers old 1st and 2nd fix paslode guns going again. We bought a new genuine battery and gas canisters and I have torn down and serviced the 1st fix and it works beautifully. The 2nd fix gun fuel door keeps popping open randomly after shooting it. This was the reason why it was taken out of service originally. Any advice would be great. Thanks from 🇦🇺
I have the same model, after it stopped firing I found the little roller on the switch was not being pushed down enough , could have the roller just worn, I temporary fixed by putting a very thin piece of plastic, shim, between the roller and the switch to make the lug on the carriage push it down enough.
No this is a common faulty with every paslode first fix gun. From the original im350/90 to the im350+. For the last 20 years we gave been fixing this Simply bend the roller a up slightly. Every gun has this roller slightly bent. But it's a well known and easy fix.
Thanks for the tutorial. Unfortunately I don't have a parts cleaner. Can I use brake cleaner to clean all the components? Thanks in advance for your reply
I own a paslode & enjoy tearing it apart & cleaning it thanks to watching so many of your videos 😂. They are actually very easy to maintain if you do it regularly. Thanks for the awesome videos!
Great video. I just purchased one of theses and its not working ATM the green light flashes and around every 8 times theres a red light...any ideas what this means? Im in France is there anywhere you can buy the parts...or Ireland I have bought a new fuel cell and charged batteries thanks for any help
Dean, I have a suggestion. In order to make it possible for anybody to find repair instruction for a tool of a particular make and model you should number your videos and publish a listing of the machines that are serviced in each video.
Great vid as always Dean. I have an intermittent issue with IM350 fan coming on sometimes and not other times. How is the best way to see if the switch circuit is faulty? Thanks a lot for any advice.
G'day again Dean. Going OK with my IM250A Li strip down and service. Come up against an issue I'm hoping you can help with. The square(ish) gasket/seal that sandwiches between the main body of the cylinder and finned cap of the combustion chamber... It seems to have gotten bigger and for the life of me I can't get it to sit in the groove for reassembly. This part is not listed as available here, only the entire cylinder assembly. Have you ever come across this? Any tips? Cheers.
Hi, I have a Paslode Imct, the nail got stuck, I dismantled it but now I don't know where piece number 40 goes. That is, the magazine lock... can you help me? Does it go above the nails?
Hello Dean ✋ Türkiye 🇹🇷 I have a question for you. The gas collector of my Spit pulsa 700 p nail gun initially gives gas four or five times and then cuts off. My machine does not fire. Please inform me about this. What should I do?
G'day Dean, love your work. I'm over in Australia and I just bought a used IM250A Li second nailer. It works well but there is no service agent in the town I live in so I want to pull this one down, service and clean it and consider getting into working on them for other people. Any tips on this model? Things to look out for in particular? I've bought a service kit(genuine) and Paslode oil. Aparrently there's a new grease that Paslode are recommending instead of the oil.. Any thoughts on this? Cheers in advance mate.
I'm sticking to the oil for now, haven't seen the grease yet. When dismantling any gun. After you remove the top half and before you service it. Always test the motor and spark. Put a battery in and pull the 2 switches. If the motor or spark dont work, the service will not fix it and you will need to buy either a spark unit, moulded board of motor. Saves wasting time servicing a gun that the customer may not want to pay to fix. Also buy a few cheap used guns, body only, so you have most of the spare you need.
@@deandohertygreaser Cheers Dean. I appreciate the info. The design of these things is pretty fascinating. On a side-note... Finding long series imperial quick change hex drivers is a challenge. Wish they'd use metric. Regards, Luke
Dean, how long have you been repairing power tools and what kind of oil did you use for lubrication? Was it similar to 3 in 1 oil? Ty so much for the videos!
After a small chemical burn on my finger Ive stopped touching any chemicals with bare hands. Only one is Isopropal alcohol or acetone if I get that damn superglue on my skin.

I could never. Many years of practice maybe. Definitely very impressive.

Thanks Dean informative as always
Thanks for info about drying out the parts. After cleaning I use 90% ipa with some rag - it evaporates very fast.

Hello Dean I've a question, What is the reason the fuel door won't close. Which in turn causes the gun not to fire ?
Nice bits your using 👌
Nice Silky. I'm second to comment. Love Dean's videos.

Should the o ring sit tight as mine has quite a bit of play in it and wondering if this could be the issue. Thanks
No, they are a very slack fit. If they are snug the gun will not work at all.

Yes it's kerosene. He confirmed that in the video where he cleans the cleaner. 😅
