Hi Bold Bakers! Today, we are learning how to make chocolate scones! What is your favorite scone recipe? Let me know in the comments! Written Recipe: www.biggerbolderbaking.com/how-to-make-chocolate-scones/
Hi Gemma,I have never made scones at home and I have never ate a scone or tasted a scone at all.I have a pastry cutter can I use it to make your scone recipe
OMG Gemma , you have done it again, you know how many things i ate while watching this video because my mouth couldn't stop watering 😂😂🤩, absolutely stunning just as you are ❤
They’re nice with fresh whipped cream not that abomination nonsense in an aerated can and wasteful landfill that Murikkkans use, with a dollop of strawberry or raspberry jam.
@rachkate76 British people use clotted cream instead of whipped cream. Spreadable consistency like Nutella or peanut butter, but rich and milky in flavor. Sooo good.
Hi gemma, your chocolate scones look so good, tasty and so easy to make.I have never made scones before and I have never tasted or ate a scone before.I am going to copy down your chocolate scones and make your scones at home soon.I use hersheys cocoa powder in my dessert recipes that call for cocoa powder
I have made chocolate scones accidentally after a chocolate mousse with Aquafaba went awry. However, these look absolutely divine. Though I probably will leave out the double cream for my health lol. Use milk as the wash as I can’t eat eggs.
You can try my blueberry scones, and just replace the blueberries here, www.biggerbolderbaking.com/fresh-blueberry-scones/ with dates. Hope this helps.
❤❤❤ very v nice good addition of your lovely 🤩🌹🌹 recipes chocolate n scones both are my favorites 😋😋🤤🤤 and now this combo chocolate scones 😋 mind blowing 😎🤠💗😉 I will try this recipe soon 😋🤤❤❤❤❤❤ love you 💓💓💓💓
I have all-purpose flour, sugar, and the rest of the ingredients except the butter,I am going to buy kerigold unsalted butter and then make your scones at home soon. Can your scones be frozen? How long can they stay in a covered airtight container on the counter?Should the scones be kept in the frigerator?
Yes, you can use whole wheat flour. You may need to adjust the amount of liquids as flours do not absorb liquids the same way, it may need more or less the amount in the recipe. Gradually add the liquids, until the dough comes together. Stop when it reaches the same consistency as shown in the video. I hope this helps.
@@rachkate76 Same here in the US. And that's what I would use. Measuring and adding leavening agent to plain flour is just too fiddly for me. I'd use self-rising EVERY time.
We don't have self-rising flour in Korea, so I always have to buy APF and baking powder separately and mix them together! I wish I could find SRF in the stores, it would be SO convenient.
@@제정은-f7j I’ll bet there would be a huge market for SRF there. You’d think someone would bring it to South Korea to meet the demand. I wonder if that’s something you and your family could do. It sounds like you could make a lot of people happy if you could. And make lots of money in the process.

I don’t think I’ve ever had a chocolate scone, but sounds yummy! I’ve made orange-cranberry and I do love those.

@@제정은-f7j that’s just like double cream or triple cream we have them in Australia too.
We just don’t call it clotted.

Oh that’s very delicious and yummy!!! My chocolate craving is going all the way up
This is the perfect antidote for your craving!
Scones are round in Australia and NZ too.
We generally make them touching each other too.
Murikkkan triangle scones are weird lol.
That looks FABULOUS!!! OMG yes.
I hope you’ll give it a go! Get the recipe here, www.biggerbolderbaking.com/how-to-make-chocolate-scones/

Sounds like it can be a successful experiment with the substitutes you mentioned. I hope you’ll share your results here.

How do you know if you were getting cocoa powder that used the Dutch process? I will be making this! Thank you. ❣️
It's marked!
Hi Kathy. It’s usually indicated in the packaging.

Australia and South African people also make round scones
I love dates scones . When I worked in a coffee shop in Australia they used to make the best dates scones ever. I forgot the recipe tho 😢
You can try my blueberry scones, and just replace the blueberries here, www.biggerbolderbaking.com/fresh-blueberry-scones/ with dates. Hope this helps.
@@biggerbolderbaking thank you definitely I will try !! awesome
Please advise what could be used instead of the egg for the egg wash. Thank you
You can use milk. Hope this helps.
South Africa is also a round scone country but hey, that's looks delicious and who cares what shape it is!!
Thank you! I hope you’ll give it a go!
I always worry about overworking biscuit and scone dough, so I never use a cutter. Perhaps this is an advantage to the odd triangle shaped scones?
Deliciousssss Choc Scones😋😋😋😋😋😋.
Bravissima Gemma ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Glad you like it, Filomena! Thanks for watching!
Gonna try subbing with GF flour.
Hope it turns out well!

Whats alternative of egg wash? As we dont eat eggs!
You can try using just milk. It should still yield a good result.
Can i use whole wheat four instead of all purpose powder
Yes, you can use whole wheat flour. You may need to adjust the amount of liquids as flours do not absorb liquids the same way, it may need more or less the amount in the recipe. Gradually add the liquids, until the dough comes together. Stop when it reaches the same consistency as shown in the video. I hope this helps.
Lovely recipe. What brand of cocoa powder do you use?
I use any brand, from Ghirardelli to Hershey’s. Go with Hershey’s, it’s quite good in terms of flavor.
I would LOVE to make this, buy my parents don’t like chocolate 🫣
I'd use just enough to require one egg and freeze the leftovers. More for us - well, ALL for us 🤭
I know chefs look down their noses at self-rising flour, but it works. And it's less of a bother.
Agreed!
Lol none of us are chefs and self raising flour is in every supermarket and almost every pantry cupboard right across Australia.

Do everything with love . 👍
Agreed!
Yum! I love how you pronounce BUTTER ❤
Also can I add nuts in there?
Yes, absolutely.
darn it. the only time i make scones is for breakfast as my wife is american. but maybe they are to decadent for breakfast?
Death by chocolate is great any time of day!
Scones for breakfast is always a good idea 😊
😋
Can oil be used instead of cold butter? If yes then does oil need to be at room temperature or chilled?
I haven’t tried it, but I know there are recipes for scones out there that use oil. I can’t recommend measurements however.
