Say what you want, and mean at the time... I first marvel at your style and process- blows me away how you can " see " what you see as you paint! I can't quite get a handle on it yet, but it totally fascinates me. Also kind of blows me away all the things you actually add in and talk to you all about like learning to dress getting some style just some different things that you talk about and and the reality of all the hours, you actually work stuff like that actually gives a fuller picture of the whole process of becoming a profitable artist. You're just amazing and so much to add to just that it isn't just a art tutorial you add so much knowledge to it so thank you. Bless you. I'm so glad I discovered you.

Yes, you do explain things well, 😅, your style is extraordinary, deceptively complex and beautiful! I also love your energy, so positive with Canadian humility!🤣😂💕🇨🇦
4:07 I noticed that the canvas on the left side is very loose in the center. Here is a tip: Use a spray bottle with water on the back of the canvas. Let dry. Because the canvas is raw fabric on the back, the water drying will shrink the fabric and tighten your canvas up. This should be done before you create any artwork.
I love how you explain what you’re doing and your method of painting (the way you approach every segment and add layers). Keep up what you’re doing. I appreciate you so much!
Your mountain painting is beautiful! You do explain your process her well. I enjoy watching and listening to you talk while you paint. I also enjoy watching videos on how to dress as well. I'm not a shopper so I want to buy and get back home. I do find when I take a break from painting, I do get a fresh view of whatever I'm working on. Thanks for sharing!
I really enjoyed your video and your painting but I was really hoping to hear the answer to your title, what makes a painting sell. Maybe some advice, pointers or something about what you think makes a painting sell quickly? I was hoping you would give your opinion, as someone who is selling all their paintings, what are people looking for? What are people buying? I also paint landscapes but they are not selling very often. (I have some videos here on RUclips if you want to see my art.)
Almost all RUclipsrs try to create titles to get you to click them. Calling it clickbait might be much but it is the game they sadly almost all decide to play. Too much competitions makes them resort to being more tactic. Either they emphasise the good or they add slightly dramatic titles. Seems we sheeple are intrigued by both.... 😊. "This is why I stopped painting!!!!" and really they didn't "This is how I made 6 figures!!!!" and then they don't specify. Keep at your art. Don't copy others but trust in your own style. Hope you will start selling more soon. If you are not happy with what you are creating however, try new colors, brushes, marks, backgrounds or subjects. Hope your sales will rocket either way.... 😊.
Just found your channel. Love it so far . I’m more of a realist painter and do not sell anything. People say you should sell but I don’t want the stress of having to finish on a deadline. I give away or a few I keep It can take me hours or weeks depending on how busy life is. We farm . I’ll keep watching snd maybe I’ll get the bug from you. I wish my brain could paint like you paint but I’ve tried and ended up painting over it. Thank you the excellent commentary
I'm more of a realist painter too...and I just decided to try to make this 'hobby' into a business. It's tricky and I have lots to learn. Life can be so darn busy right? I have 4 kiddos (single mom) so I have to plan and be strategic at times with my painting sessions. I'd say stick with what you're comfortable with, or are passionate about...if you like to paint realistically, do so. If you want to try different styles....there are tons of other artists posting on youtube you can learn from. Anyway....have a great day and happy farming!
Yes, I face the same conundrum - what she calls 'a finished painting', I deem as my first 2 layers of shadows and highlights, which go into the realistic commissions I've sold for decades without the internet. I know she's made faster, quicker $$ though, so, I'm going to try and not finely detail paintings. Thanks mam! I am inspired to try an old technique with new results!
It helps your enthusiasm to sell your paintings rather than "keep them all for yourself", as one of my instructors says. It also helps to get high prices so your family can see the worth of your art.
Hello Julia , ive just found you after you popped into my feed and im so glad cos i lovve you already ! I'm a British women in my sixties and feel really inspired by your enthusiasm to start creating again. I went to art colledge in the 70s on a 2 year foundation course but didn't go further as i met my dear late first husband and fell in love and life took me onto a different direction where i finished up studying archaeology and persuing that ! But i so love your joy and love the colours you use , it's so bright and fresh. Now i can treat myself and watch your vids , it will be a treat. Thanks so much for what you do and sharing your tips and tricks to help people like myself who want to start having a creative outlook again.❤❤❤❤
Julia, thanks so much for sharing this video. It's just mesmerizing to watch you paint and clearly describe your techniques and vision. What I find most helpful is how you explain your thinking process and determine what your next steps will be and why. This is extremely helpful and informative. Your honesty, vulnerability, and open dialogue is most welcomed!! You are such an inspiration! I look forward to future videos in which you deconstruct your creative process.

I really like your style. I am having my studio built and yes, the urge to paint is driving me crazy. I am intrigues by how you start at the foreground and i am going to try that on a future piece. I am working on a sewing project for my church and my sewing machine ha been giving me fits. I cannot wait to complete it (hopefully today( so that I can start painting again
Ok you ask for feed back here it goes. 😂 I think it would be helpful if you could put the colors you are using in the description. When you are doing the fast forward portion I think it would be helpful for those who are just learning if you made a comment on what colors you picking up in the brush. Being out of the studio for a short period of time does invigorate me. If I am out a month I get stressed out. I agree that clothing is a form of art. I am a very diverse dresser. @@juliaveenstraartist I think that one could use paper towels, too, or thin kitchen towels instead of the sponge thingy, too, as those are pretty costly. I like my stay-wet palette but find it very hard to close it up tightly. You have to line up the corners just right. I had to give it to my husband to struggle with and he had a hard time too (and he has HUGE man hands!). I wonder if I could just use heavy-duty foil instead as a lid as I just can't stand that struggle to get the lid on. I purchased it many years ago so maybe the newer ones might have an easier close . . . not sure.
Hello! I'm a new subscriber here👋And I was completely mesmerized watching your process. It was so cool to see these soft impressionistic strokes of paint come together and bring the image to life. So inspiring!
How you do the skys, flowing up and out as well as the red "glows" peeking through was what attracted me to your techniques the first time I saw one of your videos! Lovelovelove it. As for your explaining things, I think you do a fine job! If I had a suggestion it would be to just tell us what your thinking is as you go. For example your "up and out" approach to the sky. It's not that I couldn't see that before but it clarified it when you pointed that out. I know it would be repetitive but a complete list of all paints and brushes used in each video would be great too. Hope that's helpful.
Julia, It's so cool that you changed the title of the video, when you got feedback from viewers. And what's funny, is that the new title is actually so interesting and kind of funny, I'm wondering if you're going to get even more videos just because of that, which would be awesome and ironic. 😊
You really inspire me!!! I'm definitely working towards participating in one of your Sq Ft Shows very soon!! My process just takes a while to complete!!
You also said you do abstract, if the lines were more lost and found, softened, distorted in various minimal ways, with very little variations, you could say this painting is abstract too? I can see and feel how this is fun and exciting, I could easily spend a day in the studio doing this painting too. And you sell these types of paintings for 350, and that’s cheap? Where? This is My first visit here, Very interesting. Hope to find you back again soon, thanks for sharing it’s been inspiring and calming at the same time? - Blessings
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts! Www.Squarefootshow.Com is where I sell them for $350. Normally they are $600. Thanks and please come back!❤

Hello from Nova Scotia
Hello, Nova Scotia! 🇨🇦
What is that big, lovely brush you prime your canvases with? It’s gorgeous ❤
