Julia, I have watched alot of your videos and the thing that is the most fascinating to me is the way you jump around on the canvas. You don't "finish" one area before moving on. You are just all over, jumping back and forth, left and right, up and down. I keep trying to see if you jump because you are using up all of one color on your brush, so this requires you to move to another area of the canvas. But I just can't follow a pattern in your process! Can you share a little about this?
I absolutely love your style of painting. And your color blocking would be a painting to me 😉 but then you show how the final layers really do make the lines so much clearer and crisp. It’s a great lesson and so fascinating to see how it developed. And that you for a close up of creating the branches! You don’t have to “paint” each little branch when you leave the space for said branch 😍 I just love when I see these negative painting examples and it finally clicks in my brain. Thank you so much for sharing your time and experience with us and we get to see all your lovely paintings ♥️💙
Thank you for sharing your process. My art is very different and I have been fascinated with your ability to visualize colors and lines in your mind as you paint. Your photo had an extreme contrast of black in the foreground, and I would have been lost with it, but you saw all these parts of the image. Artists learn from other artists.
Hi Julia…first time watching…you have a beautiful style, not only with your artwork but your physical self while painting….the ease (hahaha, I’m sure that comes off at this end) with which you paint, the looseness…you caught me, quite frankly with 1. What I just said, your ease, which I’m sure you honed after all these years, 2. The style….i love the big brush strokes but with absolute intention….wish that I could see you do all the finishing work that you speak of!, 3. You didn’t overtake the joy and learning in watching you by talking too much….seriously…😊! Thanks again
Just discovered you this morning. I usually do not like abstract painting but something drew me in to watching you paint. I love your use of colours. Nothing is wishy washy but bright and lively. I also love listening to you narate while you paint. Your explanations are very clear and you inspire me. I have not painted anything in a while but I must start again.
Don't worry about your appearance! You're a cutie! (: I LOVE how you paint and am trying to learn how you do it. I've got a similar "style" but haven't really found my style firmly. LOTS of how to videos please!!
Hi Julia, I absolutely love your painting style. I am new to painting and I am trying to find my style. Could you please make a video on how you developed your style and maybe share some of your work from your exploration phase?? Pleeease😁
So fun to watch your process! Love the looseness and the blending of colours on the canvas. I struggle to paint loosely and watching this am inspires me. I also like having videos on in the background, I see you watch "Location, Location, Location", too!... :^)
I tried this last night finally, need more Bright colors, it turned out darker than I wanted. But as far as I'm concerned I put paint on a canvas for the third time in my life. I love how bright and beautiful your paintings are
This is by far my favorite, and I just kept cleaning while I was listening to that perky music and I wasn’t really watching, but I would glance here and there as I walked by my iPad so it’s kind of cool to sort of be in the same room with you so just speak while you were creating this beautiful masterpiece. This really is my favorite of all the things I’ve seen you do so far, I think because the trees are like curvy and stuff like the leaves are so swoopy I don’t know. Does that make any sense? 😂
Just found you on RUclips & your stuff is amazing! I am a watercolor artist & your watercolor mixing video really helped me out! One question why do you pre paint your canvas red?
Peanut gallery here... I read this before hearing it. I guess the only problem for me would be that extreme heavy metal rock and roll where they scream instead of singing. 🎤🎸🎼. Otherwise, I am fine with it. 😊
I appreciate your effort in teaching, but two requests. Please eliminate the music, and the incessant irrelevant chit chat. The actual painting is sped up, which is what we want to learn what you do as you do it, so it would be lovely if you could talk while you're working your magic to describe your reasoning and your preferences and why. Hope you understand, nothing personal. We are just hoping for a change in direction in your comments. Thanks!

This is so true! We learn from each other!
I personally don't care if I see your back lol! Watching you paint is pure delight and inspiration to me!
Oh thank you!

In the beginning it had a Tahitian Paul Gaugin feel which I liked

Great appreciation for your tutorial, Julia. The concept of negative painting is beautifully exemplified in your work.

I love that show! Lol
I really liked the way this painting turned out.
I have never wanted to work with acrylics...until now. Your work is soooo inspiring. Thank you!
So fun to watch you paint: love all our colours and brush strokes. How did you come to find your style?

I so enjoy learning & watching your magic appear on your paintings. Just wonderful results. Thanks Julia 👏
Thanks so much 😊
Thanks for sharing your work. LOVE your style and colours. Your paintings bring joy.😊
My pleasure 😊
This has certainly motivated me to try some abstract acrylic paining. I just love this.
so fun to watch and love the bright cheerful colours!
Thank you so much!
I love the painting process and the sincerity in your voice is wonderfully comforting. Thank you.
You are so welcome. I am grateful you watch!
Very relaxing to watch. Thank you
just beautiful!! What are your go to paint colors, the ones you use on most of your paintings?
Julia you’re developing a great channel. Love the info, tips and processes. Very helpful. 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for teaching. I learned so much. You are brilliant artist. Love watching you.
I'm so glad!
I am so glad!!
Julia, I enjoy your videos! I cant imagine what you see and then put on canvas, just amazing. How does one apply to squarefoot for next year? Thanks
At this point we are accepting applications for our fall show! Www.Squarefootshow.Com
You look lovely :) I appreciate you sharing your process! Thank you!
You are so welcome!
And, what you say is a "hot mess" looks gorgeous to me!
Terrific sharing of process. I'm on my second watch through 😊. Just lovely
Wonderful! That’s so nice of you!
Just found you on RUclips & your stuff is amazing! I am a watercolor artist & your watercolor mixing video really helped me out! One question why do you pre paint your canvas red?
Thank you. Can I ask what the dark is? Is it D purple and burnt umber? On the music side perhaps you could find some sea or birdsong sounds. 😊
Beautiful first go around!
Aww that is sweet. Thank you!
❤
❤🧡💛💚💙💜
I live in Kelowna, would you ever think of doing a work shop here?
Can i ask why the red background? I see some other artists use red too
Hi Julia, I don't understand how you could use paint left over from the prior week if it;s 'ACRYLIC' paint?
Hi what are you sketching with the chalk 😊❤
Just found you! Can I ask why you paint the background of the canvas red?
To get rid of the scary white!
You can add storage. I don’t see a branch, just a lot of colors. I don’t see any difference between the crisp and non-crisp paintings.
Okay.
The music is horrid. Detracting from the lovely content
Some nicer music would be good so much free indie folk ambient stuff out there
I enjoy the painting process but that music has got to go. It's monotonous!!!
I will try to figure out something. What do you suggest?
Peanut gallery here... I read this before hearing it. I guess the only problem for me would be that extreme heavy metal rock and roll where they scream instead of singing. 🎤🎸🎼. Otherwise, I am fine with it. 😊
I agree!
Play maybe some soft jazz, grocery store music or soft rock and roll
I suggest that the person that doest like the music turn their speaker to mute.😂😂😂
