I’m a character travel portrait photographer and the thing I always ask people not to do is to smile while I’m crafting the image. The smile is a mask that’s covering up the real person below. Another barrier we put up to protect ourselves.
I also see it, as in your wife’s case, as a method of protecting others, to reduce your worry and stress.
Amazing how complex a simple smile can be.

Nothing more complex than a smile but like I say to my wife, the truth is in the eyes. Nothing proved that more when we were all masked up and had to rely on just the eyes. Thank you for watching and commenting!

I did a few others but due to RUclips shenanigans they couldn't be uploaded. But Ren does put the lyrics in the description for all his songs I believe.
Cool! Thank you for that. I watched a Hi Ren with subtitles that were so off it was annoying. I did pull up the lyrics afterward for Chaulk Outlines and it hit me even harder. For now on, I'll have the lyrics at the ready before I watch (I won't read them beforehand, pinky promise)

Scared of being ok cuz all things change … also is the feeling of waiting for the ax to fall, because all good things come to an end. Unfortunately for the chronically ill those good things are often just a day without pain.

The part right before Ren stops playing, chinchilla voice is angelic, just the way she pronounces it. Almost opera like. Siren sound. It maybe my favorite sound my ears have ever heard.

I always wonder if a reactor is going to talk through the opening, or absorb it. So we'll see. LOL. Love this song. I hope you will absorb, because it isn't "throw away" just because there isn't vocals or music. That whol quiet start helps set the atmosphere. I mean, I won't be mad, because 80% of the reactors I watch, feel the need to talk through that part. But I will be EXTRA excited if you choose not to. It doesn't affect ME personally so much, because I've heard this song at least 100 times by now, but I feel it would enhance YOUR experience. It's a great song. I was on Sertraline (like in Chinchilla's opening line) and it gave me a very rare type of cancer which nearly killed me because I was misdiagnosed so many times. Very good reaction! I've watched this song many many times but you are the first to point out the collar! I never noticed that before ☺
I never heard of sertraline before this song but upon doing some research I have heard of its common name. So sorry you had to go through all of that. Just subbed today, that smile of your wifes, i think its for her just as much as it is for you. I can be completely discouraged in pain and badically self deprecating and my wife can smile at me and i see her worry in her eyes, but that smile, it might not erase my pain or worry but its a much needed distraction from it if that makes any sense. Ren was in a band called The Big Push. They split just before he went to Canada but you should definitely watch their busking cover of War Pigs, it's phenomenal.

Also the act of smiling, the use of those specific muscles, triggers the release of serotonin! I have bipolar 1, and when my mood is low I hide behind a smile, not for my own benefit or to convey “hey, I’m doing ok, still hanging in there”. The smile is purely for other people, to make them feel better and believe everything is okay. It’s to take a load off of their mind, not mine.

First time i saw Daizipan by Ren it explains alot of the feelings Ren went through being on lots of different meds, its also where you will for the first time see the chalk outlines. Thats a Focus-6000 from '87-'88. Original Floyd Rose, SD pickups. Made in Japan by ESP or so I'm told. She was a rescue and was left neglected in a metal shed for years. but, she's doing great and sounds so amazing!
