- Learning to drive is a privilege and rite of passage, but the classes can come with an unexpected risk for teen women in particular. An Inside Edition investigation has found that dozens of young girls all across the country have been sexually assaulted when they're alone in a car with their driver's ed instructor, according to police. Now there's a movement to install cameras in all driver's ed vehicles, says Bob Gillmer, president of the Driving School Association of the Americas. #InsideEdition

Monsters! This hits me way too close to home. I was sexually harassed by my driver’s ed instructor as well, in high school. Sadly, it was just swept under the rug because he was a football coach at my school and was retiring that year. The principal told us to excuse his behavior because of his old age and he didn’t want him to lose his retirement. He was an absolute disgusting monster! During one of my drives with him in the car and couple of my fellow male classmates, he took us to his wife’s work and parked right in front of her classroom and had the audacity to say “My wife would be so jealous if she knew you were in the car with me!” I didn’t know why he even took us there, other then just his disgusting fantasy of getting caught by his wife, who was a teacher too at another school.I was mortified at all the horrible things he said! What teacher gets away with saying to a student at a freaking pep rally “I ought to throw you on the ground right now, and get me some sugar!” He said that to me, I’ll never forget it! He would constantly walk by my French class and starts at me through the window, I was fearing for my safety. Thank God for my French teacher yelling at him to keep him away from me. Yuck.. I hope they get thrown in jail! These innocent women don’t deserve to be harassed, ever! I pray justice is served🙏🏽 Sorry, about my long rant..that brought up bad memories.

@@AngelLV2 that's not how it works. You'll need to have a certain amount of driving time with an instructor and need to take many tests to get the license. You can't just practice on a public road and the driving school is going to give you a license. Many schools include the driving lessons and the tests altogether for like $500 - $700 here in Canada.

This happened at a high school I know of. Male driver Ed teacher who got quietly sent off to some other school with no arrest, no charges and no criminal record. This is so common it's referred to as "passing the trash" Girls never said anything, until he slapped one of them on the face.

When i was in driver's Ed the regular guy who drove with me wasn't there one day so they put me with this other guy and let me tell you that he was creepy asf I remember going home and crying because I felt so creeped out. I'm so glad he didn't grop me or anything but the whole time I was driving I thought he was going to.
This could also be used to protect the driving instructor in the odd falsely accused case. This idea could benifit all.

My drivers Ed teachers were an older couple. They have been together for over 60 years.. Salisbury, NH. I loved them both.. this is sick. I definitely agree with the cameras..
Disgusting. Tom Lam, the registered sex offender, was my driving instructor and I remember he put his hand on my thigh and said “when i push down, it means to brake but when i let go, don’t brake.” At first I was oblivious to the situation because I was a 16 year girl at the time who had NO driving experience and just thought nothing of it. after he kept doing it, I gave him attitude and would move my leg away. he then grabbed one of those brown paper roll where it’s inside of a Bounty paper when you’re all out it and would hit me with it if I didn’t turn the car correctly. he would just laugh right after. Once I became aware of what he was doing, I gave attitude and started talking back. It made him frustrated and I can hear it and see it in his face. God, just looking at his face makes me want to punch him. Also, I find it funny how they tried to cover his face at 0:52 when his face is literally in the beginning of this video edited behind the girl who got harassed by this dude.

There was a driver instructor at my old high school who was a huge creep towards the girls. I dont think he ever did anything physical though. I had my dad (a trucker) teach me to drive.
