Every now and then you hear a song that strikes a chord with your soul, this is one of those few songs that does that… truly a beautiful piece of music ..
I was 15 in 1973 and my brother who was 21 and I joined the carnival in Ionia Michigan. from there we went to, Bad Ax, Midland, Cadillac , Traverse City and came home. What a summer! I made $125/week! $10 draw a day kept us eating and my brother didn't even have to work I supported us. Remember you could get a hot turkey dinner for $2.50 back then gas was .45/gallon. Life was good. My brother Herman got killed in 2014 and when ever I hear this song it's hard not to cry as a 65 yr old man, for times gone by as this song was on the radio often back then.
Such a trip watching old Allman Brothers videos. I'm a local real estate agent in CT and was at a Lowe's to have a copy of a key made. While waiting in line to get the key made, I turned around and saw the guy standing by some shelving checking out aloe plants. I knew right away who it was because of the area in CT I was. I walked over to the other aside of the shelf and literally said "holy shit it is you" - Jaimoe. Thankfully I play drums in a band with the bassist of Jaimoe's Jasssz Band so we were able to strike up a conversation about music. We stood there hanging out and talking for a good 30-40 minutes. Our conversation ended with us exchanging numbers! So yea, when I watch these old videos it blows my mind to think that I've become friends with Jaimoe still! Lol

My brother gave me this album back when it came out in the early 70s. I was a very young teen and loved this song. Midnight Rider is still one of my favorites all these years later in 2023. RIP Greg Allman and the whole band. Thank you dear brother. I love you.
Truer words were never spoken when Gregg sang "I'm no angel", but man we lost one of the greatest of the greats today. Don't ever let em catch you, and rock on with Duane for eternity. RIP Midnight Rider.
OMG, I had no idea this song came out that early! I’ve just started listening and loving his music in the last 3 years. My older siblings must’ve listened to this music. They graduated in 69-71. I didn’t graduate until 1983.😊
Every time I hear this song, it makes me want to jump in front of a piano and start playing. R.I.P. Greg Allman. This is my all-time favorite Allman Bros song by far.
Fantastic live version of that classic tune! Got to see the AB band three times in concert. The first time was way back in 1977. Hands down one of my favorite bands of all time! If you want to read a great book, pick up "Brothers and Sisters" by Alan Paul. RIP Greg & Duane... Thanks for the music!
Special time in my life. Post Vietnam era nightlife was uniquely full of energy, great music ? I was pushing the envelope traveling a lot of miles working with big trucks and Automotives. Living in small rural towns traveling in and out Northeast cities living in central New York on and off. Just couldn't find a home or find my way home. Sometimes I think I'm still looking? He was still strung out from just burying Berry Oakley and his brother Duane just 1 year earlier. Got real thin but sort of straightened out then hooked-up with Cher. Then he got REAL good-looking, and I'm a straight man!!
Rest easy Gregg. This song played daily on my dad's stereo while I was in my teens, was and is one of my all time favorites. Just heard it tonight again on an episode of Supernatural, looked it up and read the news.

I mean, they are costumes though! Cool ones...
