In December of 2016, I died from cardiac arrest and complete lung failure and was clinically dead for four minutes and thirty-seven seconds. After I came back, I was put in a chemically induced coma for 5 days. As I lay in the recovery room, this was the first track I heard. To say it holds a special place in my heart is something of an understatement.

yes but this was recorded by Gregg some years after his brother had passed.
That’s cool bro glad your still with us. Ten years ago I suffered an acute ischemic stroke with heart failure. I remember hearing the doctor explaining to my family I had a day maybe two before I would expire. I’m still here. Now I’m not saying it was easy cause it wasn’t. I was put into a rehabilitation therapy and continued having problems with my heart and with my brain which also had extensive surgery performed on it. I to this day and still have issues some worse than others but I was originally told and my family also that 48 to 60 hours I’d be deceased. I’m still here brother. Fight for every minute that you want. I’m not saying it been easy but every second turn to a minute an hour a day and soon you add them up and 12 years have gone by. I believe in two things faith in my GOD and a never give up attitude . I got to see my first great granddaughter be a reality. I’ve seen my children grow and have children of their own. Fight and keep fighting for every minute you want. It up to God but his decision has probably taken into consideration just how much you want it. Keep fighting and only when GOD tells you “Son it time for you to come home” is it over. But I have faith in my God and believe he has watched me fight help to give me strength when I may have been a little weak. But I have my faith God has taught me not to give up not to surrender. Each moment he with God your wife your children your grandchildren are moments you may have never witnessed if you have given up. But when God comes wraps his arms around you go to heaven and embrace all of Gods Glory and all of Gods blessings. Hug and embrace your loved ones whenever you can. May you be blessed in Gods name…. AMEN

I meet Greg in Durham , NC at Allman Brother Band (1979)concert. I also met Dangerous Dan Toler. I saw both for last time 1987 in DC. RIP friends we miss you both forever. Dan had a wicked sense of humor that I loved.

Such a great bluesy tune, with a slight hint of country to it. The Fender Rhodes piano, the guitar, the string and horn arrangements, the drums and percussion, topped of with Gregg Allman's bluesy voice, make this song so good. This sounds like it would fit in a movie, or a TV show as a theme song. If this type of music were played on country music stations today, it would be topping the charts. That can be said with all Southern rock music from the 1970s. Cheers!

Being from Ga., born and raised... I'm probably biased... Maybe not! But the Allman Brothers Band and many others in the spotlight during the days of the enlightenment of the late '60's and early' 70's were some of the best talents out there.
There were, and still are, many talented artist in the Macon Georgia area...I have several in my family and friends alike that have performed and still perform today. What a blessed nation we are to be able to show our talents to the rest of the world.
I've always enjoyed music 🎶 of many different styles...And I will continue to do so as long as I am able to.

I can remember one year in my teens, going to the Juliette street dance and slipping off to burn one at the headgates with a few close friends. A dude walked up and slid into our circle. It was pretty dark , so kinda hard to see details. One of us asked , you look familiar , got a name ? My name is Dicky , he said , Dicky Betts . I will never forget most of growing up among legends , and never remember a lot too ;)
