Gotta agree. It's always tough to pick favorites but the ABB are my all time favorite. Live at the Fillmore East the greatest live record of all time. I was lucky enough to see Duane play before he died. That means I'm old but happy. ✌
Even better seeing him on guitar. First time I've actually seen him play while singing. Every other time was a still picture of him just sitting or standing with one.
Alright we told them about the good times here these are the days man looking back if we could turn the clock back whatever time we would have yeah I am in 2023 I listen to these guys everyday 65 years old and I miss the band & crew man but they make me feel good take care be safe. 🎶👍🎊
Dickey on slide. He played slide after Duane passed. He said he hated to play slide because he had to play the way Duane played and he felt that held him back in his playing. But he sure played slide well.
+njabbfan Yes he played a conventional slide like most. But make no mistake. Him or anyone else, can't play the slide like Duane did. Even to this day, no one can hit his licks!
Back then in the early 70s, I saw a lot of great bands and performers at the Warehouse in New Orleans and the Allman Brothers were the best. Great band.
Whoever gave this a thumbs-down doesn't know music. This is one of my favorite Greg renditions of this song, he totally rocks it. Funny, he seems so shy, especially here. He keeps his eyes shut a lot and doesn't really look at the audience. It's amazing how that voice comes out of someone so young.
Didn't know Dickie played slide, let alone so well. They were a great great band, so sad we lost Duane, Berry, Dickie and Gregg, they were huge talents.
And, Duane aka Skydog Allman, who started it all...Berry Oakley...and shockingly, Drummer fantastic, Butch Trucks...what a shame. I know your bones are resting as sure as I know you are jamming in heaven...making those angels to a jig....
Honestly, there is nothing better than early Allman Brothers. This is a great concert, the one at Hofstra too, and of course, Fillmore East. Between these three concerts you will hear the best versions of One Way Out, Whipping Post, Done Somebody Wrong, Statesboro Blues, and Stormy Monday. Thank you for posting all three.
Dickie betts doesn't get even close to the credit he deserves. Allman brothers continued to make great music even after losing Duane allman . Dickie betts is great 👍
Really missing Duane here. Glad the band pushed on after Duane and Berry's death. The still made more great music. Maybe my favorite band of all time ! R.I.P. guys 👍
I had a connection to band and used to get in free to concerts, best seats. I'm getting back into their music via YT and it's fun to watch the "reaction" videos on here where young people listen to 70's music and are blown away. ABB is a real favorite with that group. Try looking at Patrol Gaming's site, he listens to Whipping Post for the first time and is amazed.
He is so depressed, It is right after Duane passed and the band is sad and so is Gregg , all in black mourning attire...I spoke with is wife, via the net, and she hadn't seen this, but, he told her about it. Shannon...the only wife, as he asked her to marry him and fell in love with her when he was sober. See Hofstra U for more sexy...
I really loved this version of the band as well ...no it wasnt Duane and Berry but what compared to that ? ...this is a close second to me !! I loved Dickey being the man
When Muddy Waters said that only in a hundred years time a white man would be able to sing the blues, what he meant is that Gregg was a hundred years ahead of his time...
You know what? I just realized, this must be one of the first times Dickey Betts played slide on Electric guitar on stage....less than a year after Duane's tragic death...not half bad....
@@back2thetrail early to mid 1972. Gregg says they were starving when Duane died...literally 2 weeks after his tragic death, they were millionaires...due to the release of Fillmore E.
But without the greasy coating. Just good and pure to the bone...no need for a scarf, or a snake or millions of dollars spent on the show and their clothes...THEY are that good, The gold without the glitz and glam.
Rick, it's here on youtube. Do a youtube search for it, and it will pop up. If it is in litigation, as many are since Gregg's death, it will be there with a sad face...but they come back...
Old Dicky seemed to get that slide off his finger pretty quickly, not his thing. Great player , a bit to clean of tone compared to Duane. Show must go on.
This is recorded 1973...a little less than a year after Duane's tragic death. Dickey didn't play slide...he liked to play on an acoustic like the old blues fellows...but, like you said, the show called for it. HE NEVER, EVER, according to Gregg, played slide on an electric guitar. Apparently it is very different. They were flying from coast to coast, 3000 miles and about 5-6 hours....Gregg said Dickey picked up and electric guitar and started to mess around with the slide...by the time that plane landed...this is what you hear. Gregg was awe struck...he said it was just amazing how focused Betts was...so, not bad at all for his first go at it....Also, NO BODY EVER will be a Duane....that is just not gonna happen....lt is not big deal but it is Dickey.
Here on RUclips. Do a youtube search. Almost all the concerts will pop up and you will wonder when they had time to party or do anything other than perform, when you see how many concerts they did all over the place and side projects as well...
The best American Rock n Roll Band. Period.
Gotta agree. It's always tough to pick favorites but the ABB are my all time favorite. Live at the Fillmore East the greatest live record of all time. I was lucky enough to see Duane play before he died. That means I'm old but happy. ✌
Agree one hundred percent 👌
One of the very best blues singers of all time, Greg Allman.
Joe B you re damn right! Reg. from Germany!
Joe B., Tell me it's a typo....GregG....
Even better seeing him on guitar. First time I've actually seen him play while singing. Every other time was a still picture of him just sitting or standing with one.
Indeed. RIP Gregg. You and Duane are certainly together in Rock n Soul Heaven.
@@judygirl3102 What are you talking about, Judy?
Damn Gregg, you were something else. Damn you.

Dickey on slide. He played slide after Duane passed. He said he hated to play slide because he had to play the way Duane played and he felt that held him back in his playing. But he sure played slide well.
+njabbfan Maybe on the slide solos he was a little restrained, but listen to him swing that slide guitar during Chuck's solo. Sweet stuff.
+njabbfan Well looks like he is using the same Coricidin bottle that Gregg gave Duane one time when he was sick! Not tooo bad!
+njabbfan Yes he played a conventional slide like most. But make no mistake. Him or anyone else, can't play the slide like Duane did. Even to this day, no one can hit his licks!
Dickie does play well, and is an excellent guitarist, but no one plays slide better than Duane Allman....SKYDOG!!!#
That great blues voice in someone so young is amazing. One of my favorite singers ever. Go Gregory!
Back then in the early 70s, I saw a lot of great bands and performers at the Warehouse in New Orleans and the Allman Brothers were the best. Great band.
Fuckk What I would do to go back to 73. Miss these days, and songs so much
Whoever gave this a thumbs-down doesn't know music. This is one of my favorite Greg renditions of this song, he totally rocks it. Funny, he seems so shy, especially here. He keeps his eyes shut a lot and doesn't really look at the audience. It's amazing how that voice comes out of someone so young.
Looks like he's stoned. Also looks uncomfortable being in a role he did not usually perform.
Heroin....................
Listeners who gave this a thumbs-down were most likely used to the Live at Fillmore East version.
He died the day his brother died, he has said.
I totally agree with this being a great performance. They all are playing well after two deaths in the band.
Its all subjective. Its wonderful that Dickie and Duane had such different, distinct styles; Thats what created their amazing dynamic.
Blown away the best
His voice sounds the best in this version!
3 Years ago we lost Greg Allman .Sorely Missed
Didn't know Dickie played slide, let alone so well. They were a great great band, so sad we lost Duane, Berry, Dickie and Gregg, they were huge talents.
He took up the slide when Duane died
The best band of all time!!!!
Greg sounded fantastic.
R.I.P. Gregg and Duane
"I Must Have Done Somebody Wrong" is a blues song written and recorded by Eddie Kirkland in 1959. " but he didn't get the right credit.
Chuck Level on the 88’s. Badass

Rip Greg allman,u r amazing blues singer man
If you notice the slide he's using is Duane's coracedin bottle.
2:33: Love how Dickey moves from tapping his foot to standing on his toes for a high note!
The musicians on that stage that night were as good as any version of the all man brothers
Thank you!!
Betts is so good on slide, many overlook that fact!
Dickie betts doesn't get even close to the credit he deserves. Allman brothers continued to make great music even after losing Duane allman . Dickie betts is great 👍
Lamar Williams. Absolute freak bassist.
Gregory wthe very Best. His voice was so bluzy and soulful ♥️

Notice Dickey Betts throws the plastic slide to the roadies!
Incomparable.
The Allman Brothers and Little Feat. A chorus in the American story...
Boy them Allman Brothers could boogie. Right to the end
Wonderful
Crazy to watch this and then realize I was born 20 days after. Lol.
Great Song and performance.
Really missing Duane here. Glad the band pushed on after Duane and Berry's death. The still made more great music. Maybe my favorite band of all time ! R.I.P. guys 👍
So much pain...
Gregg is visibly buzzed - - poor guy was almost always back then. Glad he beat down his demons eventually.
'play list' tune lately.
Piano is tremendous
The band needed a piano to help fill the hole left by Duane.
Name all members of Allman brothers band in this video

Good times in music in the seventies

Check out the skills of Dicky Betts picking up the lead on slide. Quite a great player
Brilliant !
Alltime awesome!!!

He was good looking, and his hair, soul patch, etc were PERFECT for those times. He nailed it !!
Gregg was so wasted he could literally barely stand up. If you find that sexy, more power to ya!
I really loved this version of the band as well ...no it wasnt Duane and Berry but what compared to that ? ...this is a close second to me !! I loved Dickey being the man
Just check out that dude tickling the ivories
Chuck Levell...really a great player....
I agree, Gregg is one of the best singers.
Dicky's spit shine boots. Love it!
wow shows Dickie throwing the slide to guitar wrangler and getting SG
Play it Dickey with your shiny boots. Love you! xoxo Happy New Year @dickeybetts

Actually this show took place almost two years after Duane's death, which occurred on October 29, 1971.
Dickey did a nice job on "Slide". I'm sure it was weird for him esp Duane really SHINED On this one!
Thought duane died before 73
@@back2thetrail early to mid 1972. Gregg says they were starving when Duane died...literally 2 weeks after his tragic death, they were millionaires...due to the release of Fillmore E.
bravi bravi!!!
Dickey playing a Les Paul Deluxe! Cool!
Weird seeing greg play guitar instead of Duane. berry had just died too. Weird time.
The bell has tolled, my baby caught that train 'n gone
Jesus boys Mr James would be damn proud of your version I am sure oh yeah
hey! won't you play? another somebody did somebody wrong song? c'mon, man
Other Allman Brother Band members are The Great slide player Jack Pearson and blues and gospel singer Ms Bonnie Bramlet nashville Tn.
Neither of those performers appear on this track however, nor were they with the band at this time.
About as Southern Fried as you can get!!!
But without the greasy coating. Just good and pure to the bone...no need for a scarf, or a snake or millions of dollars spent on the show and their clothes...THEY are that good, The gold without the glitz and glam.
Great song that's made better with the piano playing of Chuck Leavell.
Would love to see that full concert. Going to have to see if I can buy it somewhere.
Rick, it's here on youtube. Do a youtube search for it, and it will pop up. If it is in litigation, as many are since Gregg's death, it will be there with a sad face...but they come back...
I had Stomy Monday on 8 track tape!

Good thing they brought in Chuck to lessen the lead (guitar) burden on Dickey.

Is that Chuck Leavell on piano?
+David Tod Indeed.

What kind of guitar is that that Gregg is playing?
I was wondering the same thing the only guitar headstock that I'm familiar with like that is dean but I couldn't be sure
