    A number of you have noticed my P365 cost breakdown mistake. My notes say that I was looking at paying $500 for the P365 + $215 for an optic cut and shipping, still totaling at $715. I'm not sure where the $684 base price came from haha! Thanks for noticing, and I'll pin this comment in hopes that the cost breakdown makes more sense :)

      I got my Sig P365X with Romeo Zero on sale for $590 delivered from Battle Hawk Armory. I have both the regular P365 and the P365X as an upgrade. Still trying to get use to the red dot though. I find that when I aim, I have to look around for the red dot. I guess I'm used to looking for the front sight instead. I probably need more practice with the red dot. How do you like the red dot on your P365X compared to the standard P365?

    This is a great time in history for compact carry pistols. Lots of choices and lots of excellent firearms in those choices. I have all three, and none of them disappoint. I understand the inherent difficulties of finding a carry handgun for a small frame. My daughter is petite, about your size. She carries the 365 and seems very happy with the choice as she has not mentioned any desire to replace it. She practices a lot. We have always preached learning one's manual of arms, and becoming competent and comfortable with one's carry weapon. It is serious business that should not be taken lightly. The care and consideration you have given your choice shows great character. You are a good example for anyone considering carrying concealed.

    I haven't watched the video yet but I saw the title of the video and thought I give my reasons I bought the P365X over both the P365 and P365XL (cause I know everyone has been waiting for my opinion). It's pretty simple, the XL is to big and the longer barrel is unnecessary and doesn't make a big enough difference to make up for the gun being bigger. The P365 is almost perfect but my 2 fingers don't fit on the handle and makes it quite a difference when I I try to pull it out quickly and take aim. So the P365X warrants having a slightly bigger gun to conceal carry and I don't even notice the difference when carrying IWB. If I had smaller hands I would absolutely go with the P365. I love that Sig gave everyone options to have the right fit for themselves.

    • @brooktech7869
      @brooktech7869 2 года назад +1

      I agree with you, at the point of getting the XL, why not just get a bigger better gun with a 4-5 inch barrel. Mid size guns have no place for me. Its either CCW or fully combat size, I don't see where the grey area is better in any scenerio. I don't see where a mid-size gun fits. I have big hands, and have the P365, but the extended 12 round mags should fill that purpose. Sucks they are 46 dollars though.

    • @Rancid_Sanity
      @Rancid_Sanity 2 года назад

      @@brooktech7869 I have shot all 3 and for me (could be different for everyone) the difference between the regular size p365 and the p365X with the longer grip but same size barrel fit my hand much better and I shot much better with it but the difference between the P365X and the P365XL with the longer barrel I shot the exact same so I didn't want to get a big barrel if I didn't have to and I could notice the size difference when I carried it so for me the P365X was the right choice. They all are going to be harder to shoot than a full size or even mid size gun so practicing is extremely important.
      I also own the FN 509 TC and it was way to big for me to comfortably carry all day but I can shot it much better than the P365X but I wasn't ever carrying it and it doesn't matter how good I can shoot with it if I never have it with me. I carry the P365X everyday and shoot it good enough to feel completely confident if I ever had to pull it out and use it. It's a delicate balance between size, accuracy, and comfortability. Everyone should find out what works for them even if it takes awhile to figure out

I am 5'11" 160lbs, lean and fit and find this combination to be the best for my frame and the way I carry. SIG really hit it out of the park with this line of guns. The modularity of it enables so many people to put together the combination that works best for them, accommodating variances in hand size, body types, and strength for control. My XL feels like the gun was designed specifically for me. I can't imagine ever replacing it for my carry gun with anything else. The bar has been set so high. The Magguts +2 kit for the XL mags enables 14 rounds in the 12 round mags with no noticeable dimensional change to the length of the mag. I have had them loaded for 5 months at a time and took them shooting with zero issues with target and carry ammo. I am looking forward to your next video about what is not perfect for you with yours. @@hayleyhuber3415 I would have gone for the XL over the X for the same reason I wen't for a Glock 48 over the 43x a little over a year ago. Two main reasons: 1) Generally, the longer slide is going to be more pleasant to shoot. I found that was true for the 43x/48 series, and I've heard that it's also true for the P365X/XL series as well. 2) Because of a thing called the "keel principle". Generally, a longer slide is going to be more comfortable than a shorter one, and often it's more concealable. That said, the XL slide might be a bridge too far depending on your body proportions.
      I'd be happy to help you navigate through that thought process a bit more, but I'd need to know more about how you plan to carry, what kind of clothing you wear frequently, your concealment expectations/requirements and your overall body proportions. Don’t forget. A 12 round mag in the standard grip module is basically the same as the xl/x grip module. That’s why I prefer the standard grip module because you can run a 10rd flush, 10rd pinky extension, 12rd, or 15. So it’s really easy to adjust concealment depending on clothing / weather. If you have a regular grip module it’s well worth owning a 10 and a 12. Btw I bought an enigma and a phlster pro holster based in part on your videos. It conceals the 365 really really well. Above my expectations.

      That’s kinda my thought process to the regular 365 gives me more options. I usually run a 12 round anway. Although I am going to buy an xl slide and put a standard size Wilson combat module on my 365 so it will be a frankinstine in some regards. But mostly I carry a p10 c anyway so my 365 is just another carry option. I need a small gun that I shoot well. Not a medium gun which is what I already have. Everyone needs to do what works best for them. Glade we have so many options.

    Interesting to hear your decision process. I ended up going the opposite way and got a Shield Plus longslide with a red dot and carry it with the short mag. I'm of average male height but have a thin waist and a programmer belly. I don't have a lot of real estate to work with and my belly pushes the gun out. The short mag and the red dot are just short enough to fit along the flat side of my gut at 1:30 and the slide just touches on my thigh when I sit. The extended mag prints so unless I decide I want to open carry it's going to be a spare. I can fit 2.75 fingers on the short mag so there aren't any controllability issues when firing. The Plus has a longer grip front to back than the P365 and just felt better in my hands. At the time S&W only offered an optic cut with a bundled Crimson Trace red dot that's not compatible with Holosun's footprint so I ordered a plain slide model and set it out to be milled.

    • @drakke125Channel
      @drakke125Channel 2 года назад

      I have both Shield Plus and 365 XL. I shoot S&W Shield variants quite a bit more accurately than P365 XL and I get depressed every time I think about it because I'm a lousy shot with P365 XL. I don't know why but every time I shoot 365 XL, my shots are just all over the place, typically too low or left-bottom of my intended target. With the S&W variants I have, my accuracy is generally around 80% in my guestimation.
      I'm still trying to figure out what it is about the P365 XL or what I'm doing wrong. Might need to sign up for training cuz this is just ridiculous.

    I went from a Ruger LCR to the Sig P365 for several reasons, one being the magazine capacity. Another is ease of maintenance due to the takedown lever as opposed to the LCR's pin that I had to punch out. One big benefit of the LCR is its used sell price. It holds value very well.
    I agree with most of what Tessah said. I bought the P365 for simplicity vs. the X and XL. I really don't need optics to defend myself against someone charging at me. In fact, I think a .22 will defend me as no one I know will attack anyone with a gun is pointed at them. Even though they might be deranged, bullet holes with hollow points will stop just about anyone. 9mm hollow point is just additional insurance.
    I like the feel of the P365 in my hand and the trigger pull is phenomenal. The only thing I don't like about the P365 series is their magazines are harder than hell to load. I recommend buying a speed loader for any double packed magazine.

    I got a 365x at the end of January. Already have 1100+ rounds through it and it's been flawless in terms of reliability. Couldn't get a good grip on the standard 365 and it was too snappy, and the X just seemed like the best of both. I did also shoot the XL and I definitely shot it better. The trigger is just awesome, but the front night sight died after a few weeks. Sig sent me another right away. And yes, the mags are annoying expensive lol

      In the back of your mind should be the observation that Sigg shipped the first of the 365 series with the firing pin they knew would break in fairly short order. I have a Sigg 320 so far it works reliably 100% but just look around RUclips occasionally Sigg turns out a real piece of garbage and you never really sure which one you’re going to get. Speaking of the North American branch of Sigg I don’t think I’ve ever seen or heard a bad word about the European produced Sigs. It would seem they are the Swiss reputation is earned. But American executives telling their engineers it’s OK to ship a gun that’s likely to have issues should be at the back of your mind.

    Never did like the short slide/long grip combos that are in vogue these days. Going back to your G48 video the "keel principle" is a huge factor. I have a few stubborn pounds that make them prone to flipping forward out of my waistband.

      I think the XL slide, with a standard grip would be a SUPER concealable option for the vast majority of people, and the longer slide would probably help mitigate some of the recoil experienced with the standard length slide. I do really love how modular and customizable the P365 series is.

      "Vogue" aside, I bought and carried an XL before they offered the X. My hands are too big to grip the standard 365 plus the pinch point on the extended mags didnt impress me at all. The XL was immediately the best CCW I had carried to date. (And Ive been carrying CCW for three decades on and off the job). It was exceptionally concealable, had great capacity for such a small gun, and was typically high quality Sig in performance. The only complaint I had was that extra barrel length. I carry appendix and it could REALLY dig while seated for extended periods. Especially in a vehicle. Then they came out with the X and Viola! The PERFECT CCW IMO. I dont find its any different to shoot than the XL. In fact, the X balances much better in my hand than the XL. Not that it was a major problem atall, but the XL always felt a little nose heavy to me.

    Thank you for the video. I appreciate the clear presentation of your thought-out process & comparisons.
    I started carrying a Glock 43X, but then switched to a Sig P365X. They are extremely similar in size, but I like the Sig trigger & sights much better, and I appreciate having the manual safety.
    I love the Sig P365X on my frame. I generally carry AIWB, and I started carrying IWB at 3 o'clock. Occasionally, I do pocket carry (with DeSantis Superfly pocket holster) if wearing a winter coat (in Chicago). Like you, I also tried a standard P365 (non-X) grip module, and it was definitely more concealable (less printing at the end of the grip), but I was not comfortable with being able to get only 2 fingers on the grip. This affected my control for shooting such a snappy pistol (as all pistols of that size are, IMHO), and my ability to quickly get a secure grip when drawing from concealed carry. That non-X grip module might have been better if I had smaller hands. For reference, I'm a man with medium hands, 5'6', 200lbs (portly), with some arthritis in the hands.
    I also have the MagGuts upgrades for both the Sig P365 & P365X magazines. They replace the follower, spring & base plate, and you get 2 extra rounds.
    I love how modular is Sig's P365-line. I tried a few grip modules for grip, comfort, and aesthetics, and finally settled on the Wilson Combat grip (for both P365 & P365X). My wife hates the WC grip because the aggressive texture is harsh on her hands. It's fine for defensive use, but her hands are sore after 4 mags at the range. I looked at the all-metal grip modules (e.g. Icarus, and others), but I didn't try them due to the cost.
    I generally carry concealed with the Wilson Combat P365X grip module and MagGuts-enhanced Sig "X" mags (total 14+1), but it's nice to have the option of using the non-X grip module & mags if needed for enhanced concealment. Switching the grip modules now take less than a minute. For my (men's) pockets, the P365 (non-X) configuration definitely qualifies as a "pocket" pistol.

    You can get the regular 365 optic ready. I got it for $500 and I added the Romeo Zero optic for $150.

    I actually moved from carrying the Glock 42 to the P365. I then bought X modules and optics ready slides and now exclusively run 1 of my 2 P365Xs.

    I'm a gunsmith in the firearms industry and the armorer at a large retail store with a rental range. This has become a very popular gun that we sell a lot of, some of our guys carry, and they're on the rental range. Generally it's a rugged piece that will withstand a high round count. The SAS version has an exceptionally innovative and excellent sighting system which works along the lines of the 1970s ASP Guttersnipe sight, but is rather superior. However... There is a very serious weakness in the design. The small torsion coil spring that resets the trigger breaks. Routinely. I've replaced so many of them that I always keep spare springs on hand and have to regularly resupply them. It seems to take extended firing to occur. But dry fire practice will create the exact same effect. Every cycle of the trigger is one closer to the spring failing, which takes the gun out of action completely. Replacement is simple, but not a job the average person can normally do. This is a major flaw in an otherwise solid gun, and should be taken into consideration if you have one. The spring WILL inevitably break, 100% of the time. It's only a question of when.

    • @shuumai
      @shuumai 2 года назад

      How long does the spring generally take to fail? Does temperature have much effect or is it strictly metal fatigue? (Makes me give more consideration to the Shield Plus.)

    • @jamesclark6420
      @jamesclark6420 2 года назад +1

      @@shuumai I wish I could tell you exactly how long it lasts. But I haven't been able to find any pattern to it yet. It seems to be approximately a few thousand trigger cycles. Sometimes it seems like it lasts longer than others. Generally, it is the inevitable fate of all small torsion coil springs that go through that much flexion to break. It may also come to pass that a change will be made to address this down the line. Most newly introduced guns go through a debugging period of some duration.

    I carry a P365 as my EDC (especially in summer, sometimes carry my P320 with Romeo1 Pro in winter with shoulder holster) .. I like my P365 just barebones (except for Hogue grip). Just stock iron sights and extended mag .. it is a fantastic EDC, I shoot it as well as my P320. My daughter liked mine so much I bought her one for her birthday. She loves it as well.

    The P365X is the perfect option. I have the regular P365 but I changed the grip module to the X / XL grip. The X gives you the slightly larger grip and the Red Dot compatibility. Any P365 option will be an awesome choice.

    I prefer carrying my p365 over my 43x or 48. It’s not so much how they carry, I just prefer the firearm. I feel I am most accurate with the firearm because it is the least snappy. I love your reviews and am looking for the best belly and chest options for carry with basketball shorts or board shorts.

    They have plenty of ammo and options for us TX gun owners.

    Considering my size and how I casually dress, I consider myself a smaller framed guy at 5'9". Have carried a 43 for a number of years and the biggest consideration i have while looking for higher round cap, is realistic size comparison. Awesome info. Thanks
