Out of all the great tips and hints we get out of this channel, the advice about not criticizing the wife's prepared dish is by far the most beneficial and valid advice that has been presented.
Not sure if ya'll know this or not, the video has a blackout from 29:32 to 32:25 timeline...Nonetheless great video and love the content!
I was wondering if it was just my computer.
RUclips censorship
It happened right after the commercial for me so I thought it was a commercial issue at first.
What is written at the bottom of the video? I can’t read the small print.
I couldn’t read the small print either. I think it said this video may cause explosive diarrhea or memory loss 🤣
We have 2 OLD Chevy dump trucks on the farm. A 39 and a 41 both shed kept still running ALL ORIGINAL. i really want to throw a turbo LS in one of them. I've never seen another 39 dump truck. The 41 was painted back in the 90s but i think my grandfather brushed it on hahaha i found a pocket notebook in the old shop with notes in it from when my grandfather rebuilt the dump cylinder and how much it cost. It's pretty damn cool
Really damn cool
It's always a good day when fab rats pops up in the notification bar.
agreed
I love starting the day with their videos. and that truck is looking flat-out amazing.
In my top 5 channels.
Hey guys, 11:00pm here in Australia. Stay safe those of you in the path of the cyclone.
There are no cyclones in the USA.
They are called Hurricanes because they spin the other way.
Old connecting rods work really well for a steering column bracket
You guys might want to box the front of the frame real soon, we did a 56 Checy which had a much beefer front frame and had a small block with a TH400 installed prior. The guy wanted power steering and disk brakes. We drove it to the shop and it was basically scary. We installed the disks, power steering and modern shocks, and the problem was the same. Then we noticed that the front frame had about an inch of lateral and hight movement when we had it on the floor doing some odds and ends. We ended up boxing the frame back to under the cab, and OMG then would stay on the road.
No need to box the frame if it has an X-member
Shush. Let him learn from this build.
He needs a lot of lessons learned from doing it himself.
Nobody can tell him anything.
@@MastroAdventures the 42 has a no cross member, remember the old dipper six had this cross member mounted to the front of the engine. The same was true with that cursed 56, that thing was a problem going somewhere to happen. We eventually got it right after we fixed the upgrades someone had done before. A front cross member makes a significant improvement. Remember that Dodge Ram's with 4 x 4 had that death wobble issue, that steering box lower pivot helped but still the frame moved. Had one for over a decade and noticed it when I jacked it up from the frame, not the axle. Beefed up the frame in the front and the death wobble went away. Even with an AS in Mechanical Technology while in the Navy paid off, math can be your friend and physics is the glue holding the universe together.
@@thomasheer825 in the fab world, you can build an X or K member.
@@jamesrogers6376 It's almost like your voice is but one in a sea of people who don't know what they're talking about. He isn't crowd-sourcing his build plans; he is showing us what he's doing. If you want something done in a certain way, then put your time, money, and effort into it and do it yourself. You should also record it and post it to social media so all the know-it-alls can tell you how every little thing you do is incorrect.
You guys are gonna love Buttonwillow! Lol I am from Taft which is about 10 minutes away. Literally in the middle of nowhere. Have a great time!
The last three minutes of this video is awesome of the security cameras inside the shop at night with the lights off. Fab Rats at Night! Great video again! Thanks guys!
The secret to round clamps is to get some bar stock, drill it and tap it to your bolt size, weld it to your tube (one on each side) before you cut it, then cut through all three. After it is cut, drill out the threads on one half for bolt clearance. Now you have a clamp that is perfectly aligned.
Gotta love Chinesium quality. How ridiculous you need to mill a brand new part to make it fit. Been seeing this with regular autoparts lately too. I remember when we made things right and in America.
Hi Michelle. FYI there is about 3 min of black (no vid/audio) towards the end (starting at 29:30 ish). Oh, Shepherd's pie is not "Old People's" food. I love what you do on this channel. We are hoping to win the Cornet! :)
Well, if it were 5 -10 years ago, I'd be near Buttonwillow this weekend, on my way to our annual Death Valley trip. But these days I come from the other direction, starting off a bit south of where Fab Rats home base is. But that "pit stop on I-5" will always have a special spot in my heart. 😋
Just so you know, yours is the only channel i let the ads play all the way through.
I don't do that for any other channel, not even Matt's off road.
I really truly love your channel, and you folks as a team, and a family.
You'r one of the best dads in the world in my opinion.
No one's better than my mom, but Michelle might be a second.
Thank you for your artwork in your craft. So few things are done by hand these days, and your work is some of the finest.
Thanks for what you do.
Good Morning guys! Thanks for the new video!
I don’t think I’ve ever been this close to the video release time.
If you like gauges, a gauge I liked to add in my cars was an intake manifold vacuum gauge. Tells you how your engine is running. Since you have a blower, you'll need one with vacuum and pressure readings. Super cool.
Hello from SC! I plan on catching up on some YT until the power goes out. Happy to start the day with some Fab Rats shenanigans
I hope you don't get hit by the storm too bad.
Looking great Paul & team. Can't wait to see it all buttoned up! ☺
I'm just glad you modified the gage cluster and not the dash lol.
I love those torque thrust American racing old school wheels!
Man, waiting for the Rat Rod Tow Truck build to be finished is as bad as waiting for Robby to finish the Golden Nugget. 😁
Been waiting on Matt's ORR and, Robby Layton's too
But less sanding.
💯
At least there's no secrets this time!
Dearer. This is the channel And I love your family and your team.
This truck is really coming together nicely. I had to laugh when Paul called that parts truck rough… That would be very clean in Canada for sure!
Truck sounds great, and looking good! I can't wait to see the Smokey burnouts...
Grandma is great when she swears . Idk why but I love it when older generations swear
My dad had a 42' Chevy truck like this one, my older brothers and I used to drive it all over the foothills to the east of our home. Long before those hills were over run with houses. Great fun being a kid back in the early 60's.
21:16 You DEFINTELY want the front of the seat tipped up, usually around 5-9 degrees. This gives your legs a better angle from the knee to the pedal, to allow you to depress the pedal with more of a relative downward motion, instead of a forward motion. forward being less kinesically sound
@21:27
That tilt is referred to as the 'anti-submarine' seat posture.
If you are wondering how come, it's bc if you stop fast you won't slide forward and end up submarining under the steering wheel.
my shirt and other gear has been ordered and is on the way! can't wait!
the number of idiots who will do this after they lied and lead everyone on is sad....
We refer to the "persuader" as a "precision adjustment" tool.
Paul, Michelle & all of the Fab Rats crew you all need to look up the cows that are being "herded by an R/C Truck" with Boots Randolph's "Yakkity Sax"
On the back window, Make sure it's kid proof. Put some wire mesh on it.😱
I love the edginess of grandma Lolly being around, you never know what's gonna come out of her mouth lol
Like my mother would say I'm at that age I can SAY and DO ANYTHING I WANT to that's written in stone
I also notice how the boys straighten up when she appears.
Grandma Lolly is a treasure. Need more like her in the world! Love her!
I would love to see what gets cut out lol
I also Love there is no Filter from Grandma Lolly!
Thanks for the knowledge. You keep me inspired.
Looking good, sounds better. You gotta love a little boost. Once again thinking on the fly. Ben is right, never criticize your wife's cooking. Always compliment the hard work. Thanks for sharing
I'm wearing my new fab rats shirt while watching Fab rats woohoo 👍
Keeping us in the dark for the last 4 minutes? LOL Ben must have been the cameraman then. Take the lens cap off Ben!!
My dad had a 49 chevy when I was a baby, which he sold because of me 🥺😢 (ya know the whole starting a family thing) I wish I could find it and build what he had in mind.... God bless yall and keeping that man's dream alive! It's one of those things, after they're gone you can still touch, see, smell, etc that will always have a connection.... damn... now I'm crying over here! Miss ya pops! 😭❤R.I.P. K.M.B. wine em, dine em, and pipeline em✌
We did the 24hrs of Lemons with an '82 MR2. Blew that car up properly. Before that, ripped the clutch slave cylinder right off of the mounts.
Sweet progress! Was it just me or was there about 5 minutes of black screen with no audio?
Same here.
Thank you for your time.
Bleeping Gmaw out cracked me up!! 😂😂😂 Reminds me of my Maw Maw
I always appreciate the improvements and upgrades that you guys post on the FabRats channel.
I stopped watching this one at 5:37 to express my frustration with the camera framing because I would have enjoyed it a lot more if the cameraman had given us a bit more footage of the parts with Paul’s hands doing the work instead of panning back to his face so quickly. It’s really hearing Paul’s voice and seeing his hands working that keep my interest.
I just like seeing the work getting done.
I know Hunter is probably on a learning curve, so please take this as constructive feedback. Thanks.
I will go back now and watch the rest of the video. I had to get that off my chest. Thanks for listening.
Love all you guys.
Just a little FYI. The IR / Laser thermometer will not show an accurate reading on metal. (it reflects too much). So if you but a bit of painters tape on a piece of metal it will show a more acurate temp. (yeah, i know,, you cant on something that hot...)
Shepherds Pie is one of my favorites! My mom is from England. It was a staple for our dinners growing up!
I would like to see more builds like this from y'all! Enjoying the content of these hotrod builds!
Ben you are so right, if it was easy every Body would be doing it.
Respectfully asked serious question:
When you heat up a hardened steel part enough to change color, are you annealing the part? My metalurgy is rudimentary, but it seems like you would lose the engineered hardness?
Yup, bearings should never be heated til they turn blue, Never. Bearings are hardened for a reason.
I think they only heated the sleeve. If so, they are good.
Need to turn down the breaking on that Maxx maybe the punch setting as well if you don’t want it to wheelie every time you get on the throttle. I’m loving watching this build come together, great work chaps 👍
The Traxxas Maxx is a beast of an RC car. Definitely takes a lickin and keeps on tickin.
Scarebird brakes makes a lot of disc conversion kits. They worked great for me.
Gosh, I like every part of this old truck!! It is going to be fantastic!! Fun, fun, fun!!! Love your channel and watching how all of you work together!!
Luv all the FAB RATS crew. So much better than anything on TV. Love watching Paul and Ben workin together also. Great channel, and thank you for that.
Paul, for them old bearing race removals just stich a weld on the bearing surface and that will slide right off
It was incredibly clever to peine the trunnion like that. I learned something new today.
I could help notice something and wanted to help everyone with some simple advice.
When you were milling the dash cluster Aluminum it was hard to watch… 😂 Climb Cutting is not a good way to get a good finish on the milling machine. You always want your chips thrown away from your path. Also it’s a great way to get heavy chattering and can even be the reason why you break end mills. Great job on the projects and I hope this was helpful.
I dig fabricating channels but your cut, weld, drive approach speaks to me. Just make it work and use it.
Paul's essential toolkit consists of two things. A hammer and a bigger hammer. Love watching this channel and everyone in it! Especially when grandma (threatens) opens up a can of wipass. 👍👍💯💯
I would add a vise grip to the list but thats it.
That's the first rule of being a mechanic. If it don't work get a bigger hammer!!🛠
They need a warning sign on the door "In here every tool is either a hammer or a chisel"
Don’t forget his eyecrometer.
@@richw9205 of course! 👍💯
Can’t beat it when Fab rats, MORR, Robby Layton and Rudy (RAD) up load great way to “waste” a few hours 😂
That little pooch can’t go away it’s all part of the dad bod . Thanks for the video
So excited to see who wins the Coronet! Hope it's me!! Love watching Paul and Ben fabricate things! Have fun in CA this weekend!
What a mighty fine family community y’all got. Tossing fun out like cards in a deck! 🤩🤩👍✅
I get a kick out of siblings working together. “So if I put that there and um…yeah” and the other one knows exactly what was said and how to do it!
One thing to note when running that mill is to be sure you aren't climb cutting with that end mill. If you are taking a heavy enough cut the rotation of the end mill will pull itself through the cut scary fast. With that power feed you might be ok especially when it is just cutting aluminum, but a heavy cut in some steel could be a different story. On my CNCs I purposely climb cut but on my manual machines I run conventional.
Good advice. However, if you are looking for a decent finish on a final pass you can set the table locks to snug and climb mill with little fear of it grabbing.
I like everything Paul is doing to the truck, except for the seats!😆😆
Maybe I'm the only one, but those low back bucket seats are not comfortable. 🤣🤣🤣
Love the hillbilly banjo " Michelle " great editing, Paul and Ben great work👍✌️
Thank you Ben for the great marriage advice. I also made a similar mistake. Once.
Great video guys as always!! Love what y'all are doing with the 42, it's going to be really nice. I was curious if the frt. glass frame couldn't be fixed, could you use the 1 from the donor truck & swap out the glass with glass from the bad frame. I love that Coronet, you guys have done an excellent job with it. It's going to make an excellent car for someone. I'm not sure what's going on this morning but I've never read so many negative comments in 1 video before especially over the things they didn't like! It's crazy! Don't listen to them y'all do an outstanding job with every build & video!!! I think they're just hoping y'all will mention their comment when you do your next cantankerous comments video. Sure is a sad way to get recognition if you ask me. Thanks again for all y'alls hard work and for bringing us along for the ride!!
I love your 37 Jimmy truck that you will use for your roll back. Two things would make it perfect. Hood ornament from a 37 chevy and the side bonnet bowties from a 37 or 38 chevy truck would look good. A chevy LS or a 396/454 motor to replace that GMC 4 banger might also be good for when it is time to do the burnout.
Got my Fab Rats gear in the mail today! Was not expecting to receive it that fast you guys are awesome!
The brake kit looks like it came from CPP (classic performance products) i used theirs on my 70 c10. Good stuff!
Love watching y'all. Both have great common sense. For figuring problems out. Keep up the Great work.
Not going to lie I'm living paycheck to paycheck can't even buy a shirt from y'all. Can't wait to see the face that winner. love y'all.
Good call on the willingness correction Paul.
Looking forward to your visit when you deliver the Coronet to my house 👍😎👍
Paul just for general knowledge and i know you have it in your shop,....Brake Clean works awesome on getting anything flying dead! yep it will even knock
them right out of the air. i use the red can a lot on them. here i have lots of wasps and it is cheaper for it then wasp spray. One hit of Brake clean and they are toast!.
@7:35
T-Shirts; a suggestion from an extra large t-shirt guy. If you wear an extra large and more even, then a 'V' neck is more comfortable for our neck is needing the comfort of unrestricted movement. Can you consider seeing about ordering some 'V' necks in the larger sizes?
I end up using pinking shears to cut a 'V' shape for comfort. Of course it would be nicer to not need to modify in such a manner.
Thanks for any consideration that may be forthcoming.💖
"I don't think you'll need to worry about flying out of your chair in this thing" --> yea, right until you hit the brakes haha
Good ole Buttonwillow out in the middle of the oil patch
It was nice when we got our internet back today (after Ian) to have Fab Rats pop up. The distraction and laughs were appreciated.
Not sure your shop could handle the 6”/hr rain we got during the passage across our state.
Right on 👍🏽
I’ll see y’all there, good to hear you’s coming.
That legal disclaimer doesn’t need to be there for the whole video. It’s pretty distracting.
doesn't matter if it's annoying. it does have to be there, for MONTHS they said it would be a giveaway, not a raffle. and now that they realized their channel is declining they are gonna cash out while they still can.
awful channel and literal rats. can't wait to see videos average under 100k in a year
I can't even read it on my phone.
I love it. Makes everything really official. I think it should be centered on screen every 3 minutes. Or bounce around the screen like a screen saver.
Well, as much as everyone bitched in the past videos, it’s probably necessary. Some can’t understand the rules.
Thank you David! We will put these to good abuse!
Very nice job rat's. Awesome good to see ur videos. Can't wait to see more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friends. Fab On. Weld On
Keep Making. God bless.
It's always good to have a parts truck that is close to the year and great video keep up the good work God bless from GA and stay safe
This is going to be an awesome build, great job Fab Rats
"I'm going to shut this off so you guys don't see the dark side of Michelle" got to love it Hunter doing a great job.
Definitely looking forward to meeting you guys. We are in Bakersfield, will come out and say hello.
That ride needs some fab rats door art !
Sweet loving the sounds of that little huffer in highschool I tried out a Weiland and that thing was a beast on my 4 bolt 350 at 35 over
35 over???
@@williepelzer384 that was supposed to be .030 oversized but the hammer thumbs strike again
Really liked this video!! Longer more content, lots of cool stuff going on. New camera ? Sharper images. Video ended at 29:34 but last till 33:06 what happened?
mybe putting some type of rubber in that exhaust tubing that your using for the steering wheel bracket to help dampin some of the shake from the engine and what not
We need some merch deals hoodies hats lol cause we gonna freeze its getting colder🤷♂️😁
I race rc cars and it's a total blast. We built a race track in the backyard and all the locals show up once a week to see who is the fastest. Since the pandemic it's one of the fastest growing hobbies.
Nice to see you have some too
"I don't even need instructions." That ranks right up there with " Hey, Bubba, hold my beer and watch THIS!"
Love it!!!! Gramma throwing the law down on. "Boy I whip your @$$. No wonder Paul and his brothers walk a straight line.
You are a magician with that green hammer
Yup the Belly got in the way so I lost it best part is I can sit in my 53 Chevy and my belly does not touch the steering wheel. Love that you have factory front axle but upgraded brakes R.C. car looks like fun .
love the bucket seats but i always found a high back seat more comfortable and easier on a old mans body, just saying. also it seemed the front line being stretched when wheel fully turned. could be wrong but it looked that way worth taking another look at.
