I have a senior cat which doesn’t always make it to the litter boxes, so I’m left cleaning up after him. Others would have put him to sleep ages ago but he is still able to eat and drink without having any I’ll effects, plus he isn’t losing weight yet either. He’s just getting older and probably has arthritis. I know this very well, I’m 74. He seems to be doing well, but I’m also thinking his time might getting closer too. He is close to being 15/16 years old. Even though he has these issues, I don’t have the heart to just put him down right now, his weight is good and he always comes to me when called. He also is my close companion and stays with me all the time. I will do what needs to be done when I know he will be at death’s door, but not right now. When his time is near, I want to be there with him, holding him in my arms while he breathes his last breath. I’ve done this with all my animals, because I won’t leave any of them die alone. They were always with me until they were older, and I will be with them when they need me and breathing their last breath. This is what true love and companionship is about, being there for each other. 👍❤️🙏🏼😇

I couldn't imagine my life without her and the thought she more than likely thinks the same keeps me going.
I adopted a senior a couple years ago. He's a solo kitty in my apartment. I didn't realize I'd be diagnosed with stage 4 cancer at the time I adopted him. And though I'm home all the time, I still wish I could adopt another but not knowing how long I'll live, I'm afraid to make that decision.
I pray that you and your wonderful cat are doing well. sometimes God puts the specific very specific in life for very specific reason and you don’t need to explain that
At a hotel, my cat found the small pail I set in a corner filled with sand I meant to put in his box. Found him peeing standing up on the edge as it was so small
Not all cats want another cat in their space, its really important to take notice of your cat's personality instead of a random youtube video, just saying.
Cats are territorial. Male cats may be territorial about sharing space with another male cat. Females with sharing space with another female. Much older cats may be OK with much younger cats and vice versa. But you must test it. Best if you can keep them in different spaces or rooms until they get use to another cat being around.
It depends on your cat. Most owners sell kittens that the mother didn't want cause the mom cat knows when there's something not right about their litters. Like Natural selection. Gotta weed out the useless ones
True. My 10 year old Reggie had a close feline companion, Pearl, for the first 4 years of his life. It was OK for both of them, although Pearl was never a huge fan of Reggie. When Pearl died at age 14 ( so sad ) I thought Reggie needed a new "friend" and after 6 weeks I adopted a needy stray who had been abandoned. January is a neutered male and they got along very nicely for the first 4 years together. But suddenly Reggie decided that he wanted to KILL January, which was very upsetting for both me and January. He attacked January constantly, and I was always breaking them up, until his wrath turned towards ME. He began to bite me on the legs so hard that I ended up in the ER several times. I decided to give Reggie his own room. MY room. I just can't bring myself to let him go or put him down. I keep a barrier between the 2 cats now when Reggie roams around. It's not an ideal situation but both cats have special time with me every day. I miss the days when they got along but those days are over now so we make the best of it. Having my Reggie destroyed or sent to a shelter just is NOT an option. I am careful not to let him charge and bite my legs, that's all. Cats change their minds sometimes so I haven't given up all hope for reconciliation yet. Peace.
We have 10 happy and healthy cats that range from 3 years old to 19 years old. I plan on making a cat room with lots of places to climb and nap. Only one of our cats (a siamese) insists on scratching a certain piece of furniture so we installed a new scratching post right in front of that spot she scratches and she just loves it and ignores the furniture now.
I just rescued a kitten from under a car. My resident cat is not too thrilled. What do I do to help them tolerate each other. I keep new kitty in my bedroom and isolated
The open paper bag that was shown in the video can be dangerous to cats if you don't cut the handles off, the loops in the handles can get caught on the cats neck and body causing them to panic and potentially strangle themselves. I know from experience watching my cat play with a bag like that one.
@@itsjeninMass I ordered some food and as I was eating my cat was investigating the bag, usually paper bags are ok if there is no handles on it my cat loves to play with them and hide too.
My black, fluffy 10 week kitten crawled up my bookcase & sat in my wax melt machine. Her entire bottom was burnt terribly she had two areas of third degree burn & poor little bottom was bright red which looked a lot like a baboon with her black fur.i fely that wax after & it sure wasn't as hot as eyebrow wax. Poor little girl. It took a good 5 months before she had regrown her fur. It was a dreadful time. Beware.
😢 So sorry for your kittie's injuries! Thank you for sharing your story. I have a wax melt machine too. I will unplug it & just no longer use it! I don't want to take a chance on my kitty getting burned!!❤
@@debbiemoore2130 I use the kind that you plug right into the wall rather than a table model. I have 2 adult cats and 2 4 month old kitties and no one messes with it 🙂
I had 2 cats that did got along with each other. They were both indoor and outdoor cats. One did wonder around the neighborhood and the other stayed close to his home.
My two love to annoy each other but i think getting 2 is still the best thing as they do provide stimulation for each other. Just don't let them set up exclusive territories within the house.
@@norwin2791 Males don't go in to heat. Probably unlikely to fight unless there is a female to fight over but they may want separate territories that you should resist.
All of these are super on point! We have 5 kitties and they range from 9 years to 10 months. (We recently lost our beautiful little girl Eclipse to congestive heart failure at 13. The little boy looks so much like her! He chose my daughter, who was Eclipses WORLD, and she named him Tater Tot. Ours is a mixed bag, we have a Manx names Russell and he loves watching TV. We put on Soundscapes when it is storming out to help keep them calm. We have a white Maple Tipped Siamese that is a Hemingway. All were rescues.
Our kitties favourite toy is a brown paper bag with a pingpong ball inside it, she's literally spent hours entertaining herself (and us humans) jumping in it, whacking it, & superman sliding into it. She has numerous toys but nothing enthralls her like that now battered 25 cent brown bag !!
My cat will NOT get on the furniture- even if i put her on something, she jumps right out. Safe spaces are huge with her and she changes where she sleeps every few days.
My cat don’t get on my furniture either nor does she jump on my tables/counter tops or my bed.. she’s grumpy as heck but very disciplined. I’m not sure what makes her happy 🥹🥹
@@CathiGordonloveshorses omg Im so sorry, I just got my first kitten 3 months ago and I cant imagine having spent that many years and sorry :( You will be busy soon my kitten takes up quite alot of my time, solid hour a day just in play time trying get all that energy used up 😂 Such a different bond from anything else in life tho I am for sure happy to be a cat parent one of the best choices ive made.

Thanks for your reply..yes it was hard going through the grieving process, she died back in April Time for a new kitty now. My cat is really independent and she dont like me to hold her for more that 1-3mins unless she really sleepy. She will sleep near me when she feels like it. If I bring her over to lay with me she will get up and lay somewhere she wants to go. I've learned over the years to let her do her and when she ready to come to me on her own i just be happy she ready to socialize with me on her terms😊
My Brother has 5 cat's ,bo kids, the Kitties r his babies he's got company they have all the love & more Bless Him & any 1 else who gives them love & care🩷🐈
Thanks for your kind and wise information. It reflects my experiences beginning with a photographic evidence of myself in my cradle when I was an infant
Dont imagine that cats always really want a new cat to play with - they do bond well with other cats they are related to or if introduced as kittens but older cats may Never Accept a new cat, my older cat still hisses every time she sees the "new kitten" even 5 years later, she will never like him, play with him, etc and it made her a more grumpy less playful cat in the long term.
@@Bongwater33 that is true. It depends on how they were raised and their dispositions. Red tabbies are usually the friendliest and most mischievous and sweet. I've had 3. All beyond the rainbow bridge, probably playing tag now.
Many cats are. A shelter should let a prospective adoptor know if the cat likes being around other cats or other animals. Some really don't like sharing their space.
Thanks for this informative video. I would just like to add that I disagree that Aloe is dangerous for cats. I give my cat Aloe as a parasite cleanse. I also used it to help heal a massive injury a stray cat I'd feed, sustained at his jugular. I rubbed the Aloe gel on the wound 2 times a day & within 3 weeks it was all healed. The vet had wanted to put him down as he said his chances of recovering we very small. He's now an 'indoor cat', but my cat (that was once also a stray) is sooooo jealous and tries to attack him when I'm not watching. I'm working on it !!!
Pretty comprehensive list! Right now no other hint comes to my mind. I especially liked the hint at indoor cats which should have feline company. Our old cat didn't (from lack of knowledge) and became a true sociopath. Humans are no replacement for a fellow cat.
Not all cats need or want a companion, it depends on their personalities. I currently have a recent rescue (aged just under 7) and because she is a trauma survivor cat, it will be a while before it is even appropriate to consider a buddy. If in the future, it seemed appropriate, and she was fully confident, I would get one of similar age, similar temperament (no way I would get a kitten or youngster). But, she has the option to spend time at my mother's house (same property), and that is 'hers' as well. I was actually surprised when she coped at my mother's, when I had no choice but to leave her for overnight (and the two days). Currently, she does not have the confidence to share territory with another. It may come in time, it may not. It's about reading your cat.
Be aware of leaving plastic bags or any bags around a cat. Saw my kitten with one tied around his neck. Thank goodness I was not far away. Also collars , even break away . When my kitten was 7 months old the collar got stuck in his teeth while it was around his neck. Woke up to a gagging noise and saw this first hand. Luckily he sleeps on my bed and I’m a light sleeper. That was the end of his collar days.
Great video with very important knowledge every cat owner should be keen of. When we adopted our cats, we immediately secured the windows so they could be left open without the risk of our furballs jumping or falling out. And it was very important to me to spay them.
My husband and I have agreed to stick with just one cat. I wish that I could get another, because I think our cat gets lonely or bored when we're not home. We used to have a lot of cats, but now, we are both in a fixed income.
Years ago I had a cat and wanted another but was not “allowed” to so one day I just brought a kitty kat home and handed it straight over to my partner who’s heart melted and so I got my way….new friend for my kitty kat
I feel bad everytime I stop at another family members house my cat belongs to me but my parents look after him when I’m not at home and if I’m gone for a day or three he refuses to eat so I have to call my mom and talk to him. He eats as I talk to him on call 😭❤️
I adopted sister kittens They are so well adjusted bc they have each other I introduced them to my small slowly after a couple of days They sleep together on my bed when I’m not home.
Be careful about TV! I was a pet sitter. Some customers went away and left Animal Planet on. But it was Crocodile Week! The cats were subjected to "monster movies" of crocodiles eating small animals (like cats!) I think it's better to leave cartoons on. One of my cats likes to watch "Batman, the Animated Series!" My cats also enjoy limited use of a special "Cat Sitter" video. But quickly get bored, and even annoyed, when they discover they cant interact with the mice & birds on screen.
I have single cat, but when I take him, I know he hate all others cat, it was the condition of shelter, that he must be not only single cat in household, but he must be only animal there, so he has so many toys, puzzles..etc so he is not bored when I´m at work
I always prefer to have 2 cats at the same time to keep them from getting too lonely when I'm at work at night. My current 2 are also siblings from the same litter, adopted only a couple days apart.
We had a rat problem basically there were just 2 rats in our house and we bought rat traps the sticky ones but one of the rats kind of just disappeared idk what happened to it but there was another one left so we set a rat trap in the kitchen cuz that’s where we usually saw this rat. And before school my cats were in my room and I opened my door to put my clothes into the laundry basket after switching to my school uniform and opened the door. My cats ran out. We have two cats Simba and Igloo Simba is a male orange and Igloo is a white female. So Simba went under our table and igloo was in the kitchen. I was gonna do something I don’t remember what but I said I would come get them after I was done doing that task. But I just heard the loudest hiss and scream from Igloo so I was running to the kitchen and she ran out just flopping around because she got caught in the rat trap and her back legs were stuck. So I quickly removed it and it stayed sticky for about a month or so. But then it slowly stopped being sticky and now it’s completely fixed. Yes we did try our best to cut most of the rat trap glue off her which also cut her fur a little but now it grew back wonderfully. Also this happened when they were like 4-5 months I think and now they are both 1 year and 2 months.
I recently got my dad's cat. It was actually my stepmom's and she had 2, she passed away recently. My dad doesn't like cats. So, I got Attica and an aunt got the other one, George. Attica didn't like George and avoided him. She likes to be under a bed. I have 2 and she actually prefers the 2nd bedroom over mine. 1 litter box is enough for one cat. Plus, I only have a 2-bedroom house, which is small, and there really isn't a good place to put 1, let alone 2 litter boxes.
I used to have a job that I had to travel to, and I'd be gone like 12 hours a day, but luckily I was part time and it was only half the week overnight. So, I spent a lot of time with my cat on my days off and as much as I could before leaving for work. That was the first 7 years I had her, and then I changed jobs more locally so the time away was like half the time. I also got her a climber that she loved, so that helped, too.
having another cat is mostly for people who work 8-12 hours a day and can't spend most of the day with them, now if you can spend that much time with your cat per day you wouldn't need another one, I also only have one cat but am home constantly so he is loved
One of my housecats passed away last November he was 16 his buddie sweep who is also 16 is now on his own and still grieving 😢.... i'm now 75 ...too old to take on another cat 😢
I used to have a cat And You have to be careful With Like anything plastic or rubber cause they would eat it then vomit. But now There are 2 cats looking for a home At my mom's office So I needed some refreshing
I have sisters who fight every day. One of them has decided to blame her sister when her food bowl has run low. She spends a lot of time lurking on the floor where we don't spend much time.

Well my baby is very grumpy, she don’t like toys, she refuses to climb up to get to her window bed, she don’t like catnip.. it’s just weird for me because I feel like I don’t know how to make her happy. Nice video, Thanks !
my cat doesnt giv a shet about being a bad cat. he just wanna talk to ppl and be the most important part of the family. i cant imagine another cat being as cool as he be.
Hi, I can’t get another cat, because my female cat from adoption well, from her house was in before, She can’t handle another cat in the family, from her original house, has made her stressful time who couldn’t use the bathroom 🚽, And doesn’t like spending time with any female or male cats in my house.😢😢😢
I think it is ok to have a single cat, but cats do need more than food (which should be wet and dry food) , water and clean litter boxes.. They need love and attention. Also, toys, cat trees, cat enclosures (catios) and window perches are great
My cat hates strangers. If I had to leave her for a vacation, she might appreciate the food and litter box cleaning, but she won't interact with anybody but me. But luckily, I'm a home body. Not currently working but when I go out it's for a short time only. I leave food, water, bed, and toys out for her. She has a cat tree and high shelf beds. Tho I live in an apartment and can't put up wooden shelves tho I want to. I would if I lived in a house.
My 4 year old Snickers got pregnant, and unlike Snickers' mom, Missy, who ended up having about 4-5 litters, my mom spayed her right away. She hates my mom and always wants to avoid her now, and I've had the theory that she was actually with the cat who made her pregnanat, and not just r@p3d by them.
My cat Fell off The 2nd floor of a flat so i’d say about 15 metres up and he got lost, somehow when we found him about 3 days later and he hadn’t damaged anything but he did have a hole out of his nose so he must have got in a fight
My poor Spike. I got him when I was seven and he would be reaching his 13th year if Kidney failure was not taking a toll on him. Or, at least that's what I believe it is. We don't have money for a vet and my anger and guilt for his old age is affecting my relationship with him. He was acting completely normal but became more active than usual, and was obsessed with water and avoiding his own food to each others's. Just this week, he has been lacking energy, and crying alot and when he paces, he yowls and comes to me. That old video about signs of dying, he showed all of them. I was hoping he'd get better, but hasn't. Or, I mean, he has been normal before suddenly is acting as if he can't even stand. I pushed him away because I was mad at the situation. I never noticed the signs. I think today might be his last day. Please help me God this is my first cat I am not ready for him to meet you🙏🏻❤
My 3 yr old cat loves being single 1:16 we tried to meet her up with my friends cat at her house but that didn’t go as planned😅 (Basically my cat lunged out of her harness and tried to hurt my friends cat so we are never doing that again all cats are different)
Cats NEVER in my experience over several decades like eachother when they first meet. It usually takes a couple weeks at least before they accept eachother and become cuddle buddies. Some cats never accept another animal. I think my cat who I adopted as a senior actually prefers the companionship of dogs. I babysat one for a couple months and the two got along great - though not quite cuddle buddies.
My cat is nothing like what he says....he think he is a dog and he will guard the yard and run other animals outta "his" yard with his sister's that are dogs 😂
@@cameron9206 You're not telling me anything I don't already know. If it were up to me, he would have been fixed. My brother in law brought him home for his daughter without asking his wife or myself. We all live together. They were supposed to get him snipped but never did.

Wow, judgy beaches
Not all cats want another cat in their space, its really important to take notice of your cat's personality instead of a random youtube video, just saying.
Mine hates other cats.
Cats are territorial. Male cats may be territorial about sharing space with another male cat. Females with sharing space with another female. Much older cats may be OK with much younger cats and vice versa. But you must test it. Best if you can keep them in different spaces or rooms until they get use to another cat being around.
These are random, very general videos.
Only one of our cats (a siamese) insists on scratching a certain piece of furniture so we installed a new scratching post right in front of that spot she scratches and she just loves it and ignores the furniture now.
wow 10?! why so many?
That's Cool !! I would be in Cat Heaven with so many Kitty Cats !! 🐱 🐈🐱🐈🐱🐈🐱🐈🐱🐈 10 is a "Perrrfect" even number !! ❤️♥️❤️

I just rescued a kitten from under a car. My resident cat is not too thrilled. What do I do to help them tolerate each other. I keep new kitty in my bedroom and isolated
Ok Some of my friends in class have 3-4 Cats... That's the MOST in our class... And your here with 10?!
The open paper bag that was shown in the video can be dangerous to cats if you don't cut the handles off, the loops in the handles can get caught on the cats neck and body causing them to panic and potentially strangle themselves. I know from experience watching my cat play with a bag like that one.
Definitely. I try and keep plastic bags away from my pets, and I cut the handles off of paper bags.
@@itsjeninMass I ordered some food and as I was eating my cat was investigating the bag, usually paper bags are ok if there is no handles on it my cat loves to play with them and hide too.
@@DeltaCDN Mine attacks rugs and blankets! I'd she's attacking something I don't want her to, I redirect her with her kicker or her tennis ball.
Somehow they always try to get out of a bag through the handle, which causes an endless panic as they run and the noise of the bag goes with them.
Sounds very scary and thanks for the heads up. Whew
He loved sitting in the sun on the dashboard 😺
Are they both males?..i have 2 males that is not neutered they're about 4 months old and I'm worrying that they might fight when they're in heat

All were rescues.
im so sorry for your loss! God Bless!
LOL epic toy. funny how those are the best, right?
Tinfoil balls and toilet paper rolls have been faves of some of my cats
My cat will NOT get on the furniture- even if i put her on something, she jumps right out. Safe spaces are huge with her and she changes where she sleeps every few days.

As for cat videos. My cat was interested at first but she looked behind the phone. Realized it was fake and walked away. She still won't watch them.
I adopted my cat with the understanding that she would be a solitary cat.
Humans are no replacement for a fellow cat.
wait, how so? God Bless!
I'm not sure I think it depends greatly I know of several single cat home and there are anything but "sociopaths"
I have 1 kitten, and he's anything but. He just turned 4 months, and he's such an affectionate little thing. I love him so much. ❤
2 is better then one ❤
I wish I had at least one😢
Be aware of leaving plastic bags or any bags around a cat. Saw my kitten with one tied around his neck. Thank goodness I was not far away. Also collars , even break away . When my kitten was 7 months old the collar got stuck in his teeth while it was around his neck. Woke up to a gagging noise and saw this first hand. Luckily he sleeps on my bed and I’m a light sleeper. That was the end of his collar days.
My cat loves ferns.😇Tasty treat for him.
Great video with very important knowledge every cat owner should be keen of. When we adopted our cats, we immediately secured the windows so they could be left open without the risk of our furballs jumping or falling out. And it was very important to me to spay them.
I will follow these tips, thank you!

Be careful about TV! I was a pet sitter. Some customers went away and left Animal Planet on. But it was Crocodile Week! The cats were subjected to "monster movies" of crocodiles eating small animals (like cats!) I think it's better to leave cartoons on. One of my cats likes to watch "Batman, the Animated Series!"
My cats also enjoy limited use of a special "Cat Sitter" video.

I disagree 110% with no spay or neutering. There are so many animals in shelters or homeless. Spay and neuter!!
What if you only have one cat, but stay home with him the majority of the day? It’s fine, right?
that's fine, no worries.

The best way to get my cats outdoors? A mesh, covered playpen that just unzips to be opened or closed! Then they can watch the birds at the feeders!
My cat hates strangers. If I had to leave her for a vacation, she might appreciate the food and litter box cleaning, but she won't interact with anybody but me. But luckily, I'm a home body. He was acting completely normal but became more active than usual, and was obsessed with water and avoiding his own food to each others's.
My cat isn't neutered and he has never once attempted to escape to breed. He also bullied the other cats we had. He's happier on his own.
That’s territorial behavior caused by him not being snipped.
@@cameron9206 You're not telling me anything I don't already know. If it were up to me, he would have been fixed. My brother in law brought him home for his daughter without asking his wife or myself. We all live together. They were supposed to get him snipped but never did.
There’s nothing stopping you from taking care of that yourself. As an intact male, he is increasingly at risk for testicular cancer.
@@devonremy6581 Well, money is a big factor. He's also 11 years old, so I'd rather not subject him to a surgery. He bullied the other cats probably because he isn't neutered.
