when we adopted our cat at the animal rescue facility, she was located alone in a large enclosure. We wondered why and they told us she didn’t get along with other cats. She was found by a woman who saw her alone and outdoors. She rescued her and took her to the animal rescue center. She’d been there 6 months. I immediately wanted her. She’s a 14 lb gray tabby and I love her so much. My husband puts a video on his computer of squirrels and birds. She loves it. We also have an enclosed deck where she goes outside and chirps at the hummingbirds that come to the feeder b

Sounds like my catboy sans the enclosed deck. When I put on the squirrels and birds on the YT on my TV he sits on his haunches and stares at the TV for as long as it's on.

My Cat is 22 years old ...she is a Persian and I found she was too beautiful and her long hair would get tangled so kept her indoors..

My cat has two scratching posts but I've never seen her use them; she uses her favorite chair which is a mesh office chair. She has toys and we play with her and she also gets the zoomies. She's got quiet dark places when she needs alone time, and she will also sit near my feet, or on the coffee table. We take her out in her buggy when we go for a walk. She doesn't watch tv much but I have seen her pay attention to soccer, "Life Below Zero," and busy chefs. She isn't fond of the brush, but prefers finger combing by me. I telecommute, so the rare times that errands take longer than usual, she gives me a stern look :).

We provide our kitty with medium sized carpet samples. She loves to dig into them. I find her old claws in them every once in a while. We also have a large built in book case that has access from our 2nd floor dining room. That’s where we placed her plush cat bed. She loves to go up there to sleep and to look out over her queendom. She’s there now sleeping away.

That's funny! We have a carpet sample that we use as a wipe-off mat between the kitchen and living room. My boy loves to play with that thing -- chewing on the edges, doing the bunny-thrust! He especially loves to stand on the mat and "patch out" into the living room, sending the mat whizzing across the kitchen linoleum!

    Continued from previous post .....
That clinched the deal right there and then. She is simp!y the Best, so its hard for me to accept her as being a "stray" However, the area she was found, Feline Herpes prevail. After her shots, antibiotics and oral med, she's recovered and has not had any issues.
However, vet told me that she should Not have contact w other felines, as herpes Is contagious. Therefore, I don't feel comfortable adopting a companion for her. 🤔😫😭. She loves to camp w us, and 2 cats in a cab over camper would not be enjoyable to Any of us. We do our best to keep her entertained, but most times she doesn't want to quit.😁
But, we love her dearly, and consider her our daughter. 😻😻😻
I believe CATS are God's gift to humanity 💞💕💞

My "indoor" cat eats Iams indoor cat food, enjoys our screened in balcony at will (we are in Florida), actually goes out on a leash almost every day to enjoy fresh grass and hunting lizards. Every day after his (hunt) he eats high calorie wet food! His weight is ideal, he is as happy as can be!

The day after I brought home my adopted Torties in July of 2020, I put together a cat tree that had scratching posts built into it. I bought it at Walmart on the way to pick up my cats. Pixie immediately started using it but Penny decided she wanted to use my bed posts. I had a scrap piece of plywood in the garage that was 4 inches wide and 8 foot long. I cut it into 2 foot stripes and used zip ties to hold them in place on the bed posts. Now the posts are covered and Penny has been using it daily ever since. Occasionally one zip tie will slip out of place or gets broken by her daily use but I have more to replace them with. Over the years Pixie has managed to totally shred the scratch posts on the cat tree so I bought another tree to replace it with. I also got a 3 legged scratching post (looks like a small table) and they both like to lay on the top of it and Pixie likes to shred on it too. I have also tossed a 2 foot long scrap of 2x4 onto the floor where the food/water bowls are and Penny likes to use that to scratch on. It seems like Pixie likes scratching posts and Penny likes to scratch on lumber.

My cat was like your Penny. At first, Milo ignored the large, twisted-rope scratching post that I provided. Instead, he liked to scratch the woodwork and cabinets. I've trained him to use the scratching post by giving him squeeze-up treats which he has to climb up the scratching post to reach. Worked like a charm! He loves the scratching post now, and uses it all the time.

I have a very large litter box. It's actually a Rubbermaid tote that's 6 inches tall by 3 foot by 4 foot. I use an entire 35 gallon bucket of litter or 2x 20 lb bags to fill it every time it's changed. Both of my Torties are very happy with it.
Anyone need some buckets with lids? I got about 40 of them to just give away. lol

In the 30+ years that I (61M) have been living in my house I have seen many critters in my neighborhood as it it close to the edge of town. I have seen Skunk, Raccoon, and Opossum roaming around as well as other animals. Last Spring I found a grass snake in my yard.
Also, there is a hardware store 2 blocks away and a lumber yard one block from my house and the corner that I live on sees 2-3 semi trucks deliver to the lumber yard every day. During the Spring and Summer months that can jump to 4-5 trucks daily and my street can see a lot of traffic.
Because of the combination of these factors and the dangers that they pose I have decided that my girls will be indoor cats only. I don't want my girls to get hurt as it would tear me up if something happened to them.

5/14 - Katzlager! Not catio, its for houses, but true prison with metal mesh fence up to the balcony ceiling, or isolated metal passage and some metal cage outside with view to everything around, from 6th floor. Works well, my cat enjoyed it a much (I have couple of clips about it).
10 only hardcore, only robot! Selfwashing litterbox solves the problem 100%. But it requires exhaust ventilation as it STIIINKS when drying and disperses its ceramic fillers, so robot vacuum becomes a must.

I have cat brushes that looks like gloves. Every time they see it they go nuts to be brushed. I usually brush them every week in the Spring, Summer and Autumn and every month during the Winter as they are not shedding as much.

I have to play all my saxophones in my basement at the moment because of the new kitten. It's strange though, some that I owned would come into the room when I was practicing, but others are scared. I think it might be the higher notes though, since I accidentally started playing my bari, which is the largest, and therefore lowest in frequency that I own, and she didn't freak out. Kind of was just checking my reed though..

If you don't have scratching posts then you have scratching furniture! Better to buy a scratching post than to have shredded furniture. Oh, and forget having a Xmas tree. Your cat will destroy every hanging decoration and pull the tree over.

Another important thing almost no cat owner ever thinks about is that you should never hit a cat on the head with a hammer.
