    Oh that sucker gets hot! Burgers worked out great for the first cook! That smasher is pretty cool too. Great video.

      It did a good job and you're right this thing is hot. The smasher is a restaurant steak weight but works well as a smasher.

      It is Hot for sure. I have gotten up to about 730 degrees so far. Halo says 750 degrees. Halo says the top is hot rolled steel instead of cold rolled and claims it will not warp. I need to weigh the top and see how much heavier it is than my other griddles. I turned the front half of the burners on and left the back off and threw some biscuits on the warming rack. After about 15 minutes with the lid shut the back of the griddle where the burners were off was temping over 500 degrees. The biscuits were cooked. So I have a lot of experimenting to do with it. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for some interesting videos.

    Thanks for keeping it honest.
    Trying hard to decide on what I want to purchase.
    Blackstone - cheap, but even with the drastic temp differences, I feel it can have an advantage when cooking different foods for different temps.
    Campchef, just a better blackstone.
    Traeger, premium unit and good warranty. I think traeger with a much larger market may introduce more mods and addons.
    Halo4b - looks fantastic, but most expensive unit too.
    Not much info about this yet on RUclips so I appreciate the work you’ve put in.

      As far as price the Halo is inline with Traeger. The Elite4B is bigger than the Traeger. The 3 burner Halo is a more comparable unit and the same price as the Traeger. What I really like about the Halo is the heat and the heat retention it has. Halo's are built like a tank. To me how even the temp is across the griddle does not really matter. You learn and adjust to whatever griddle you have. I have an older Blackstone and it's great. I have a Loco 36 and I love it too. You really can't go wrong with any of the griddles out there. It just depends on what you want to spend.

    Just curious did you turn regulator back up to high when you tried to get to 750?

    • @griddlecookeatandmore
      @griddlecookeatandmore  Год назад +1

      Yes I did. Since then I let the griddle warm up with the lid down and I hit around 720 degrees. I think a little more preheating and I can get that 750 they advertise. My biggest issue so far is on low with all the burners on you are at around 450 degrees and that was with the regulator on low. One thing I learned is the top is made from hot rolled steel instead of cold rolled like most other griddles. They claim the top will not warp.

    Have you looked into the flatrock by traeger? Curious in your thoughts vs this griddle. Narrowed my choice to these 2 options.

    • @griddlecookeatandmore
      @griddlecookeatandmore  Год назад +2

      I have seen the Flatrock. It is smaller than my 4 burner and more likely comparable to the 3 burner Halo. The Flatrock is a nice griddle but I think the Halo is a little better build quality. The Halo has a insulated cover you can use when cooking the Flatrock you are not supposed to. The Halo definitely is the hottest griddle on the market. I've had the Halo up to 850 degrees. The Halo also is made to use on a table top. I'm the end both are higher end griddles. For me I liked the Halo a little more.

      I was going back and forth on these two. I ordered the Halo because of the 4th burner and their shape, the usable hood, the location of the grease trap and the fact that it can be used as a table top (for my future patio build). I just ordered it this week so I haven’t used it yet
