    Great heat comparison! I think it does really well and the middle of the griddle is always the dark zone usually. Seems like your investment is paying off so far! Thanks for posting, can’t wait for your next one. Cheers 🍻

    You convinced me. Purchased my first griddle a few days ago, got the HALO Elite 4B. Seasoned it and did my first cook yesterday. Made cheese steaks, & they turned out better than any I've ever done before. Smash burgers tonight and fajitas tomorrow. Love it so far! Couldn't figure out how to set the propane regulator on low though. Nothing in the manual that I could find either. Thought that was a little strange, but I'll just make a call to support.

    Good video. I do think that once you put food on the low LP setting, it will tend to run a little lower as the food sucks up some of the available heat like it did in the regulator on high pancake test. All said, this looks like about the best designed griddle I've seen available so far. Might be time to "gift" my gen 1 Blackstone to someone and upgrade. I do wish they also made a stainless cabinet base accessory then you would have the best of all worlds - cabinet base, portable legs, and table top; all in one griddle.

      I just cooked some quesadillas last night. I set the regulator on low and preheated the front burners only for 8 minutes. This put me right at 300 degrees. I threw the quesadillas down and probably took about 5 to 6 minutes and when done i was sitting at around 350 degrees. So overall not to bad. I have to say this thing has great heat recovery. I agree a cabinet option would be great. They could easily build a cabinet for it. Thanks for watching 👍👍👍

    Looks pretty even. A little darker in middle but that is to be expected. I have a loco table top and it will get to 600 in the top right and is like only 235 at the bottom. Which is annoying because the cooking surface is not that big to begin with.

      Overall it's doing a really good job. This thing brings the heat. Low temp cooking may not be its thing but for what I cook mostly it is not a problem. I do have a 36" Loco I can use for low temp cooking. Thanks for watching. 👍👍👍

    Just discovering the channel and really appreciate the content. I had been debating the halo, traeger, and camp chef…do you have any experience with the camp chef? Really drawn towards it with the grease management vs the other two

    • @griddlecookeatandmore
      @griddlecookeatandmore  Год назад +1

      Never used a Camp Chef. The Halo and the Traeger are both a step above in quality. I also have a Loco griddle and 4 Blackstone griddles. Halo is by far my favorite. The Loco is a decent griddle with its thermostatically controlled burners. If you prefer the rear grease trap go with the Halo.

      @@griddlecookeatandmore yeah, the camp chef has a channel that runs along the front so there’s no hole in the cooking surface. Looks like a good system. I’ve seen the loco at HD and was intrigued, looks like you’ve had a good experience with its temperature management.

    Do you think this will be able to cook eggs and omelets in the low 300s with the regulator set on low and lowest heat? Those temperature numbers during the first test make me worry that I will have to turn off cooking zones to keep things around 300.

    • @griddlecookeatandmore
      @griddlecookeatandmore  Год назад +1

      You can. It's all in the preheat time of the griddle. I did a 8 minute preheat on low regulator setting and just the front burners on and I was at 300 degrees. I cooked quesadillas and it took about 5 minutes or so. When I was done the griddle was at about 350 degrees. So it's doable for sure.

  • @timmoore3534
    @timmoore3534 10 месяцев назад +1

    I constantly hear you can’t get a halo in the 300-350 range across the griddle without constantly turning on and off burners. Is this correct?

    • @griddlecookeatandmore
      @griddlecookeatandmore  10 месяцев назад

      The whole heat thing with Halo is over-hyped. Yes the Halo can reach high temps and in my case I have gotten it to 850 degrees. There is different ways to achieve the 300 to 350 mark. For instance if I preheat the griddle with all 4 burners on low fo 8 minutes it will be right around 300 degrees. So this is when I would put my food down. The food is going to help moderate the temp of the griddle by absorbing the energy. So in my experience when I do this my griddle will stay between 300 to 350 by the end of the cook. Another way to achieve those low temps is only using 1 or 2 burners. I typically use 1 burner on low for a lot of cooks. So I will have my left burner on low and this creates that low 300 range in the middle of the griddle and gives me some higher heat for searing over the one burner I have turned on. When I use my Blackstone I always would use 2 to 3 burners for most cooks and with the Halo I use one to two burners. The griddle tops heat retention is night and day compared to other brands. I've used two burners on high to deep fry in a big pot and then shut them off and cooked a couple pounds of ground beef just of the residual heat. So the Halo I think is more efficient in the use of propane. I have a Facebook group called Halo Elite Griddles and More you should check out. Also if you are interested in a Halo I have a 10% off discount code you can use at Halos website. DOUG10 is my code.
