    You’re work is not only unique it’s just so beautiful! I want to get into leather work so bad! Would it be possible to make more videos of more various style dog collars/leashes and women’s belts but also a video that details how much certain products cost?

    Thank you for another great tutorial. Please, Any suggestions as to the best way to skive under the studs without a machine? What size oblong do you use for the crew hole?
    Thanks again.

    • @JHLeather
      @JHLeather  3 года назад

      Hey there, the crew hole is dependent on the size of the buckle tongue which varies between buckles and each size of buckle. I think this was a 1 1/4" wide collar so I would have used a 7/8" long crew with the west end buckle.

    I'd love to know how you make a studded dog collar pattern and with different size spots. How do you get you design transferred from paper to collar??

    • @JHLeather
      @JHLeather  7 лет назад +1

      Hello Teresa, I don't usually do paper patterns for dog collars but use scrap pieces of leather to test if my ideas will work. If you have different sized studs you need to work out the distance you want between each stud (I usually lay them onto the collar I am making so I know how many I can fit on) and then the distance between the fittings of the studs. So for example the studs I have are 1/2" wide and 3/8" wide, so I would (depending on the size of the collar) put these about 1" - 1 1/2" apart. Once you know where each stud will sit you can mark out the legs of the studs (in our case these are 1/2" and 3/8" apart). Hope this explanation makes sense! Thanks Jo

    Hello kind lady, do you do custom orders, please? I have a pink PU 2” spiked and studded collar for my whippet, which started peeling as soon as I looked at it 😭 would you be able to recreate it, please? Thank you so much x Adriana

    very nice video, so thank you. I have two questions though. Why do you need to use the hot tool, is that instead of burnishing the edges? Also, wouldn't rivets work better for the decorative squares, like, the same shape, but in a rivet instead?

    • @JHLeather
      @JHLeather  7 лет назад +2

      +Magik Dust glad you like the video 😁 the creasing tool just puts a nice line on the leather which just adds to the overall look of the collar and works best hot as if it's done cold it won't last.
      The riveted squares is a good idea, I haven't seen them before though.... These squares work well there is just a little bit more work with getting them all marked out.

    is there any way to measure the holes and oblong hole easier? without measuring each itself

    • @JHLeather
      @JHLeather  6 лет назад

      Not too sure which holes you mean. The way I show in the video is how I mark out all my collars for holes in the point and for the crew hole. You can set your dividers to the distance apart you want for your holes e.g 3/4" and walk them up the strap but as its only 5 holes I don't usually do that. Hope that makes sense. Jo

    • @JHLeather

      That's what I do, the bridle butt is so strong I use it for everything. You could use a thick shoulder if a butt is too expensive/big for the projects you have in mind.
