I have never done any leather working in my life, and I don't particularly intend to, and yet ive gone and watched every single one of your videos. They're so calming, you're the Bob Ross of handmade dog supplies

Hi, I love your work! I was wondering is there a specific place you prefer buying your stains/dyes from, specifically the ones like here which are brighter colors like blue or red? Or was this one you made your own?

Hi there, I buy custom coloured hides from Metropolitan Leather and they supply me with the coloured stain. They have just started selling smaller bottles of stains too in different colours. Worth a look. Jo

Hi, thanks for the video. Very good work. What kind of leather are you using and how many ounces is it? Thanks.

Hi, I've just found your channel. Great to see you, not so many women working with leather! Am learning myself. Can I ask what leather you use? Is it bride or ordinary veg-tan?
    Thanks

Hello +Mary Byrne I use 3.5-4mm veg tan bridle butt for most of my leatherwork Inc the dog collars, leads, belts, and equestrian items. I also use 2-2.5mm veg tan bridle shoulder for stuff like keyrings, phone cases, boxes, etc.

Hi +Michelle Ford it's a saddlers clam, I got it from Abbey England (they do international shipping) you can also get a small stitching pony from Tandy Leather Company. I think Cumbria School of saddlery had some for sale, if you are in the UK that could be worth a look too. Thanks and glad you like the videos 😀

What weight (thickness) have you opted for for this project?
Our collar and lead are both tired and I’m wanting to make him a new set ☺️

How do you get the flesh side of the leather smooth? (Côté chair lisse) J'adore vos vidéos

I buy finished hides from the tannery so they are finished by them and I only need to stain the edges and polish around the turns. You could try acrylic resoline from fieblings.

Heya, I use a tool called a strap cutter to cut strips off of the hide.

Hi, can I ask your thoughts on using Contact Adhesive on your turns prior to stitching, is this frowned upon traditionally? I've always thought, it can only help add strength to an Item; although maybe overkill on a dog lead. Thanks for sharing your knowledge really appreciate you taking the time to share.

Hello +TeaPotWood yes you can glue your turns if you like. I know a master saddler that solely glues items and uses no tacks to hold work together. Thanks Jo

Train your dog. A horse won’t break off a properly made lead like this.
