Tanner. You still remain one of the only RUclips video producers that use clean, clear diagrams to help explain your project process. It makes the entire video more enjoyable and informative. I really appreciate the extra step. Plus, this video had a puppy!!! Cute. Really cute.
@@ClaridgeLeather On another note, Tanner. I want to build myself an art supply bag. Sketchbook, pencils pens and other equipment. My only requirement is that the front of the bag has to open flat so I can see everything. No digging around a messenger bag. But a similar shape. Can you put together a video on how you 'prototype' a project. Non-leather materials you use to mock up the shape. Then how to make patterns? Just a thought for a different kind of video. Feel free to decline. It would be a lot of work on your part. You already teach me cool stuff. I just don't know where to start.
To your credit, very enjoyable to watch. I realize my comment is not focused so much on the collar itself but rather your ability to make me feel like you were indeed speaking directly to me. I lean more towards traditional collar methods but everything has its place.
Hey Tanner, thank you so much for putting together these videos and sharing your knowledge. You never know who you will inspire, but know that you certainly are! Be well. -Marco
This is all that is good about social media. Started out looking up one thing and now going to make my dog a collar, after I build my own golf clubs, which is after I make my own painting. This is all before I go off grid and have a sheep farm. I kid I kid. Except about the collar and golf clubs.
I know I'm kinda late to the game, but I just came across this video and as much as I love the collar, I'm in love with Griz! I have to know what kind of adorable monster he's gonna be. Bein this video is as old as it is, I can only hope you still might get these comments.
I've been meaning to make one for our new puppy too, but was going to wait until she got bigger, but you make it look so easy I may just make a temporary one now too! Great video and instruction as always bud!
Great video! I could watch that puppy all day long and not get tired of it! So precious! He is going to be a big one!!! Going to have to try that collar…I’m not a leather crafter and don’t have any fancy leather tools, but I might try it anyway, and use my XTool D1 to engrave his name on it! My dog deserves a beautiful collar like that! Lol
Love this! I am new to leather craft and I am having a hard time trying to cut those rivets down to size. I ordered cutting pliers but can't seem to cut it down. What type of pliers do you use and thickness of your rivets. I've been ordering #9 brass and copper.
Late reply but thought I’d toss this out there anyway: I currently use 8” Knipex end cutters and they are great, though I’ll be upgrading to the 10” version shortly to give more leverage for cutting the harder brass rivets as production increases.
Nice video, Thanks for sharing. I am curious: where might one acquire one of those typeset devices that holds the letter stamps. I think that is just the ticket for me to be able to stamp names in a straight evenly spaced line. Thanks again.
Not sure if you have done this, but can you teach a little bit about working with the leather in ways that take into consideration how it stretches? Thanks
I really want to make one but I like to buy good tools and with the rivets, tools, leather, etc would provide it cost me $300+. You make some of the best produced and clear lily explained videos. Thanks for posting this.
Thank you! I understand there is a barrier to entry for this hobby, unfortunately. I bet this could be done for under $100 pretty easily, though, depending on the tools you find! I hope to make a video on that subject soon! Thank you for watching!
@@ClaridgeLeather Just adding what you - have to - buy just for this project i´d say sub 50. 25 for a basic rivet set, 15 for the hardware and some leather scraps.
Nice tutorial, I would like to ask you for information, if instead of inches I use centimeters (x is the size of the neck) i + 8 "to add to x do I simply have to transform them into centimeters and do the same for the final +3"?
Made a collar for my dog a couple years ago. Put her name on it and our address since she's an escape artist. It's paid off, she's been brought home a couple times. Thanks for sharing.
Suggestion: if you make another for your dog put one D ring in the center of the collar. Reason is the weight og the buckel will always be down and with a ring for the leash at the top you dont have to turn the collar arond to clip on the leash.
Kind of all over, but I did add some links to some of them in the video description. Hope that’s helpful! Was there something specific you’re wondering about? All the hardware is from Buckle Guy. 👍

I run a rescue and am dyslexic and this helped me so much. I will be trying this to make collars to raise money. Thank you
Oh my gosh Griz is adorable! I get my pupper in a couple of weeks and I never thought of making a collar but I am now! Thank you for the video.
This is a perfect video start to finish. The informative clear nature, a few jokes, and fluffy pooch are all incredible. Thank you so much!!
Aw, thank you for watching! Have fun!

Excellent video, as always Tanner! Thanks for simplifying the pattern and the process. And that puppy!!!
The x + 8 formula is a game changer. Now I just need one for belt sizing...
Thanks for sharing, great video. Why the extra 8 inches? what's the reasoning behind that number? why not 6 or why not 10?
This was the cutest tutorial ever! Ty so much!
Another great video, and a beautiful collar. Griz is absolutely gorgeous, too! 👍
Love this beautiful puppy.
Dude. Finally found a fix while waiting for Little King Goods vids. Great work!
Ahh, that’s awesome! I’m a big fan of his videos as well. Ryan is great guy and a good friend. Welcome! Lots more to come! 🙏🏼
Love leather collars for dogs and you do such a beautiful job! what's the music please?

@@Markus__B what about that skiver? :-)
That might go over budget a little… 😄 There are lots of inexpensive ways to skive as well.
Gorgeous dog what breed is it
do you prefer this leather to un dyed veg tan raw leather for collars? TIA
Simple and perfect! 👍🏼
Beautiful dog!!! Leonberger, right? Thanks for that great tutorial that will benefit my own dog.
Thank you! He’s actually a St. Bernard/Anatolian shepherd mix. Getting big now! Cheers, Hugo!
Well done!!! Saludos desde España
I just mad my dog one using you pattern, came out fantastic, thank you. Where did you get that letter stamping set???
That’s awesome! So glad to hear it worked for you. I got the letter set here: leatherstampmaker.com/product-category/letter-sets/full-sets/ Cheers!
Ok…..they are the rivet that I need. Where do I buy them from please? I am sooooo sick of the cheap and nasty cap ones that some suppliers sell.
Do I have to use bridle leather or can I use veg tan leather?
Please tell Grizz I love him!,
Done! 😄🐶
well done, as always. good work on the videos. .... and Grizz is awesome, you're going to be making collars every week for awhile lol
Ha ha… that’s for sure! His dad is 160 pounds! 😳

Thank you, Josh!
Really enjoy your videos! Beautiful puppy, is he a Saint?
Thanks! Yes, half Saint and half Anatolian Shepherd.
Incredible!! Thanks for the video :)
Thanks for watching! Have fun!
Thank you for the video.
You’re sure welcome, Tammy! Thank you for watching!
What was that letter setting tool, where you put the letters into?

It should work fine if you just convert everything to centimeters (1 inch = 2.54cm). Have fun!

Yes! Awesome idea- will do that on the next one, as Griz has already outgrown this one!

Give Griz an extra tummy rub for me!
Done! 😀🐶

You bought the dog just so you had an excuse to make dog accessories didn’t you? I’m gonna try that with SB 😆
Ha ha… you know me. Have lots of kids so I can practice making baby shoes… 🤷♂️ I’ll talk to SB about getting you a dog.
The amount you spend for the tools and accessories to make dog collars you can buy good collars for the life of your dog. Just sayin
I wish I could find a video that doesn't use so many tools
Entiendo todo a pesar de no saber hablar en inglés ,gracias!!
