Guys, this will ONLY work if you are going stand-alone ecu or manual transmission swap. Toyota/Lexus integrated a BEAN multiplex communication (like CAN) into the stock ECU where it relied on these components to work in conjunction with the auto transmission
Correct, but it has nothing to do with multiplexing - thats really for all the other things - gauge cluster, etc. The same ecu controls the engine and the transmission, so there really isn't anything going on there
I don’t wish to criticise BUT the three screws that affix the ICV motor to the throttle are NOT Phillips. If you look closely there maybe star marks between the Phillips “cross”. These marks mean the screws are POSIDRIVE which is the most common on Japanese makes. Using a posidrive bit will ensure the heads do not strip. Google posidrive
If using an aftermarket ECU, why not just use a more traditional style DBW throttle? That way you can retain cruise control, implement traction control, closed loop idle control, tune the ratio between accel pedal and throttle opening to your liking, blip-for-downshift, etc... My Bosch 68mm DBW throttle is MORE responsive than a cable throttle, and I didn't have to give up all the other cool stuff DBW throttles can be used for.
In need of some help, I had code p1121 for my 98 gs300, it went into limp mode so I installed a new apps and new tps but it went back into limp mode with a new code now p1128 (throttle control motor lock fault). Wondering if should just replace the tb motor or just buy a whole throttle body im just curious at this point whats the issue ☹️
Hi my car throttle control motor is playing up car going in limp mode. Trying to fix issue for last 5 weeks no success now decided to buy throttle lock and take motor off would that work? Would there still be warning signs on dashboard?
Replace the entire throttle body, mine did that, and I didn’t want to spend time trying to figure out what it was, and it was cheaper to buy the whole throttle body assembly anyways.
Yes you're traction control lignt will constantly be flashing but you can pull the light out from the gauge cluster. Pretty sure you'll get an engine code with it but can't confirm.

@@CodyGraham so with a manual and stock ecu and the throttle lock there shouldn’t be any problems? I have manual and previous owner had the throttle lock and it ended up not working anymore, replaced throttle body and not using the throttle lock and it drive for a bit and now the pedal will go to the floor and not accelerate anymore
Doesnt solve the problem off drive by wire motor . We need a alternative the works workswith the stock ecu and auto transmission . Thinking about doing the bosch throttle .
Correct, it deletes the stock motor for a cleaner look when using the factory throttle body manually and not electrically. There isn't an alternative that works with the factory ECU and trans - the only way to delete the throttle control motor and keep the trans happy is keep the throttle body wired in somewhere (I put mine in the trunk) even if it isn't being used
Going to need a lot more info and testing to be helpful at all. None of this controls fuel directly, they just give inputs to the ECU to give it an idea of your intentions based on throttle angle. Of course the throttle motor opens the throttle plate but that just lets air in, fuel requirements use throttle angle combined with maf readings to guess how much fuel is needed, then the system checks if that is correct using the oxygen sensors. It all needs to work mostly properly.
@@Richierich1285bro I literally have that issue right now, Code p1121 I put in a new apps, and new tps but now i got code p1128 wich is throttle control motor lock. Not sure if I should buy the new tb motor or just replace the whole tb but yeah thats where Im at right now

I've never ran one myself without a standalone, but my understanding is that it will work just fine with a manual transmission, though will throw codes.

Oh it works perfectly, if you watched the video for both it and the throttle lock, it's pretty clear it is not meant to be used with stock computers. Standalone only. You're going to get a check engine light you didn't give us anything to plug into the plug that feeds the ECM You pull it off and plug nothing in do you not know what a bad computer rating is

There's no easy way basically. And you're definitely not retaining cruise

I need me if these - should work well with the throttle lock, right?
Do you get an engine code because the motor is deleted
yup!
Its all nice, but what to do about the idle and warm-up rpm?
Use a standalone to fine tune using fuel and timing correction.
or you could run a IAC from another vehicle

I removed the throttle control motor and got a CEL and a blinking trac light, why? I have a 2002 IS300 with a manual transmission.
I also have the throttle lock installed...
Because the factory computer reduces power when it detects wheel slip. It can no longer reduce power.
@Cody Graham is there a fix for this issue besides a stand alone?
Does this work with a piggyback ecu?
Most likely no, it will cause issues with the stock ecu that may render the throttle inop completely
