Chappelle is without a doubt the king of skit shows. Saturday night live mightve been the first one but i think chappelle show revolutionalized what a skit is to this day with the crazy topics and amazing editing

Basically hollywood bs coming in there like "why dont you do this instead" and of course the relationship got sour cause it was his name on the show but they wanted to control the content. Cause i havent, and his actual camp which he always credits for helping him come up with skits ( like charlie murphy RIP and donell rawlings) are still down with him to this day

Robert Blake had a show called Baretta back in the 70’s.He was accused of murdering his wife in 20 something
Yeah the murder happened in 2001 and the lucky bastard got acquitted of murder in 2005. Personally I am sure he did it but because he had money just like OJ Simpson he got acquitted. Both OJ and Blake are guilty, without their millions they would be in prison serving time for murder. On the other hand we have people that really are innocent go to prison because they have no money to get proper defense. Our justice system sucks, the rich can get away with anything while the poor rot in prison even if they really are innocent.
@@AviationNut I don’t agree that the rich get away with everything…. If anything the extremely rich people that are caught doing illegal shit get the maximum punishment possible. Now yeah, does a NFL player or an Actor get less punishment than your average normal person? Sure, but I don’t think the money is as important to getting them off easier, i think it’s more of the recognizable person influences the decision. If your favorite celebrity is accused of doing something your more likely to have a bit of doubt on their guilt than you would if some random person was accused of the same thing with the same evidence

Dave Chappelle's standup has to be done, it rivals his show, and anybody else's standup. Maybe start with 3 AM in the Ghetto, or Talking To The Police While High.
Need to do some In Living Color reacts. There would be no Chappelle without In Living Color plus it's where Jamie Fox, Jim Carey, Jennifer Lopez, and the Wayans got their break. Those skits definitely wouldn't fly in 2021.
They were talking about YOU! (jk) I don't disagree that ILC had immeseasurable impact on comedy, but I think Chappelle would've came along regardless. Alongside both of those The Wayne Bros and Eddie Murphy gotta be in the conversation of diversifying comedy as well (with various projects).

@@cocalita03 Hard to say. I don't deny any of the impact of ILC. Dave was just already active as a comedian in 88, so I just say my opinion to say that ILC wasn't the deciding factor for Dave to do comedy in the first place. (not the same can be said for comedians that came later). That said, if we are talking about T.V. itself evolving to the point where Dave could have a platform in the first place, then sure ILC is probably necessary.
@@hanksilman4016He would have still been a comedian. I am sure of that, but the show? I doubt it. He did things differently than ILC. He put his own spin on it. It's just like how ILC would not be here without Flip Wilson's show. They put their own spin on it and influenced a new generation.

Robert Blake was famous for his role as the titular character of the 70s TV series Baretta as well as his roles in The Little Rascals and Money Train. He was tried and acquitted of the murder of his wife in the 2000s.
Not gonna get many people that argue that Dave is the the goat. There's been sketch comedy shows forever, but his unified people in a way that comedy had not done in a long time.

funny that you say the key and peele being based on chappelle show.
there is a long feud with Dave and Comedy Central, he even has a mini special where he talks about it called "Unforgiven" and a follow up to that special titled "Redemption Song" he posted on his instagram. long story short tho he was unhappy with how the show was going and walked away from $50 million dollars, comedy central then didn't pay him for the show anymore and shopped the exact format around to a bunch of other comedians Key and Peele being one of the most successful. There's a lot more on this story i've left out but that's just a small summary for you guys.

Chappelle was big in the 90's so some of the jokes might not seem relevant, since it's about stuff happening in the news at that time. It seems a bit more risqué and hilarious when the timing is right. His stand up stuff is amazing too, more conversational.

Chapelle show was the first skit show like this. Key and peele rather blatantly stole/heavily borrowed from it when Dave decided he had to quit due to increased network interference.
Key and peel are typically viewed as the generic watered down off brand imitation of chapelle show in the US.
It wasn’t even close to how popular Chappelles show was when it was aired.

As you indicated guys each decade and era had their bests (Comedians and Black Comedians), for some it was Eddie Murphy, before Dave Chapelle., and before Eddie it was Red Fox, or Bill Cosby, or Rudy Ray Moor, etc.
