The way he wrote the whole show to have certain pauses where he would come back to meeting OJ was straight up genius, especially the closing bit which he did right after closing the special 👨🏾🍳👌💋
Since he was 14 and enrolled into a preforming arts High school(Duke Ellington) just because he was told it would help him with standup….definitely born to do it type thing/ not fall into it type….public speaking is something that is still a great FEAR for people…. and some at 14 is already on their way to be a pro at it
He’s definitely very comfortable on the stage. He’s known for dropping in a club unexpectedly and going up. And then just being up there for hours and hours.
What you need to understand is Dave took a loooooong hiatus from performing . It was 20 years between the last special you watched (killing them softly) and this one (the closer).
Uh, this isn't "The closer" it's "the age of spin" and he's had a bunch of specials between now and "killin' em softly" Everyone knows he disappeared to Africa for a while.
If you lived in South Central/South Western Ohio, you could see him work at any given time if you randomly went to a club anywhere in between Dayton and Cincinatti. Often time for 3-5 hour sets just trying stuff out. He left the spotlight, but never his craft.
@@maceomaceo11 Honestly that's pretty disrespectful to anyone else trying to get stage time, especially newcomers. I know a lot of comedians did that but it's pretty egotistical to even think it's okay to take up that much stage time.
Dave's comedy has aged like fine wine his stage presence is just crazy calm & everyone hangs on every word he says. He's like a poet & comic mixed together
Alot of folks dont know the awful feeling of not having Chappelle around all those years when you were fully aware of his genius. And then he makes a return and all these specials just solidify him in comedy hall of Fame.
Dave telling the crowd to mam the f**k up or they won't make it threw the show is hilarious all on its own. Lol. The bit is classic, it's even better when u hear the stories throughout the entire show. Lol
This is hands down my favorite Chappelle bit and not enough reaction channels do this one. So for one of my favorite channels to react to this is a real treat!!
You noticed the perfectly judged pauses, the hidden emphases, the misdirection and the perfect placing of the punchline...best stand up alive today, ladies and gentlemen...Dave Chapelle.
For my birthday, my best friend got us front row tickets when he came to my city and I saw this live... It was amazing... I'm kind of a strange looking guy so Dave looked right at me and stared lol
With Chris Tucker, he’s referring to around that time following the first 2 Rush Hour movies Chris Tucker was one of the hottest names in Hollywood but took a hiatus frm comedy and films until like the early 2010s
Eddie Murphy had a meteoric rise to success and Chris Tucker was on a track that could have helped him achieve that same type of success, but he didn't want to do it.
Chris Tucker was, at one point for a short time, the highest paid actor in Hollywood exclusively due to the Rush Hour movies. He made 25 million to do Rush Hour 3, but because of religious reasons, he suddenly quit acting. He was an Eddie Murphy type talent, who didn't want to pursue his Eddie Murphy type talents.
Dave Chappelle genius is long form. The entirety of a delivery. That's why he he could probably do Chappelle show forever of he wanted and most can't. (By most I mean mostly every human being to ever exist in history)
Been requesting this one for quite a while. So glad you enjoyed it. Definitely one of my favorites. Now, you should follow it up with "Norm MacDonalds Constant Shitting on OJ Simpson" by Norm MacDonald. Hilarious!
Yeah, I figured people had already mentioned it… Those 4 OJ stories were broken up throughout the show. That’s why you can hear people laughing every time he starts a new story. This was good, but watching it without the full context… it’s better to watch the whole show.
They didn't do a good job of explaining this, but this was all throughout a comedy bit, he'd tell an OJ story, then do his comedy bits for 10 or 20 minutes, take a pause and say, "...so the NEXT time I met OJ Simpson..." And sprinkled them throughout his set. This is a compilation of all of those.
This is also pretty brilliant in him just showing his "new" position as a black celeb From a nobody who was thrilled to meet OJ to a real celeb who was in a bit of a "scandal" aka leaving Chappelle's Show who tells off OJ
2:20 Who Is America? I've got a pair of requests on Patreon with Mike(hoping they come soon...). SBC's Who Is America? is his best work IMO. I loved Ali G. I loved Borat. But he turns it up a level. It is epic.
Chris Tucker became really religious after Rush Hour 2 and only did a film or two once a decade afterwards. He's really picky with roles too and only does films when he feels like it, sort of like Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy.
What Chapelle has done on his Netflix specials is so much more thoughtful, polished, and just plain greater than his stands-ups prior. He really is in a league of his own.
@@quiescent1530 maybe you see it as whining because the punchline is hitting you somewhere. It’s ok blinders eventually come off whether you want them to or not
I think Charlie Murphy inspired Chapelle's new style. He's too old to be animated and do the voices. His storytelling is very similar to Charlie's Prince/James stories.
You guys need to watch the Alphabet people (LGBTQ) stand up dave chappell if you think this one was one of the best, Alphabet people stand up was hilarious
The way in which Chapelle told the O.J. story over the course of the show was genius.
I used to misspell his name till I learned this …Cha two P’s and two L’ s surrounded by two E’s
Yes it is.
concur . . . too bad now all he does is rant about social/political stuff
Agreed
Amen
"With all due respect... That murderer ran for over 11,000yds" That line will always be funny, no matter how many times I hear that.
Lmao right
Meh

Proper comedy perfection.

@Miles Doyle no
He's been doing comedy since he was a teenager. I wouldn't doubt he's more comfortable on stage talking than almost anything else
Since he was 14 and enrolled into a preforming arts High school(Duke Ellington) just because he was told it would help him with standup….definitely born to do it type thing/ not fall into it type….public speaking is something that is still a great FEAR for people…. and some at 14 is already on their way to be a pro at it
i doubt the two are related.
He’s definitely very comfortable on the stage. He’s known for dropping in a club unexpectedly and going up. And then just being up there for hours and hours.
“Let’s get a picture!”….”…noo.”
So this video doesn't do the bit justice. He tells a much longer story and weaves these 4 OJ stories into it. It brilliant the way he pulls it off.
This is hilarious! Never watched it before 😆

This wasn’t one complete routine he told those stories through out his show but connected it all together brilliantly
White, White and White again!!!!
lol!!!!
Chappelle has definitely gone to another level...
He's operating at a level I've never seen before. The Master
Dave Chappelles deep in the heart of Texas is a good one too.

I really appreciate that Dave (Bloke) appreciates the craft of comedy. Dave (Chapelle) is a master at the craft.
The GOAT of Comedy himself
Chris Tucker has never had his own show.
Who is America - is the Sascha baron Cohen show your thinking of.
the best part is that he is doing other bits inbetween each of theses stories
"This is some of the best Chappelle I've seen!" How many times is this man going to say this??? 🤔
As much as he can because it's like a kid going to a candy store for the first time because he's never seen these specials
As many times as he want to you mood killer
Mike is fresh out 😂
He was "fiscally responsible" for their deaths
I love that special, I watched it when it first came out on Netflix!
Need some context. He did each time in between jokes spread across the entire show, which was genius.
Eddie Murphy had a meteoric rise to success and Chris Tucker was on a track that could have helped him achieve that same type of success, but he didn't want to do it.

OJ’s nickname has always been “Juice.” Wasn’t invented by Chapelle. It’s because of his initials are also what we call orange juice.
