I told my friends/co-workers that "I Write Sins, Not Tragedies" by Panic At the Disco is one of the best white boy songs I've ever heard. Now they're sending me song suggestions and I'm doing live reactions here, on the Trying White Music series lmao

Quick Note! They didn’t give me a song lol. I just did a poll on which band to listen to! So I looked up Avenged Sevenfold and clicked whichever song had the coolest name 😂🔥
I’ll break my rule and do another Avenged Sevenfold song quick because this one was so dope. So, WHAT SONG? 👀

"Not Ready To Die" - F'n gem. About zombies. 7 minutes of headbanging. People will suggest "Nightmare" and "Bat Country" and "Beast And The Harlot" and "A Little Piece of Heaven", but those are weak if you want to really want a testosterone/pump you up music.

Seeing people react to song likes this that are as old as this for the first time is absolutely amazing. Some people? Not their schtick, but most absolutely love it. This is what you call, METAL. Considering this is two months old, I would recommend someone recommends Sabaton next. You would go nuts on some of Sabaton's songs.😏

  • @MidnighTokr

The answer to your first question is yes, he's playing it perfectly for that long. It's called a riff coming from a guitar or bass, so you'd say "is he playing that riff...." and the thing about the riff he's playing is that it's extremely easy to do and very simplistic, but it sounds awesome because of the effects he's adding (phaser, delay, overdrive, likely some others to get his signature sound). He's playing one open note repeatedly with a tapping pattern on the same string at a much slower pace.
I'm really not even a fan of this band, their vocalist kind of ruins it for me, but I thoroughly enjoyed this reaction!

    • @GlennLaLondeIV

It’s not a tapping riff but it is a very simple riff. It’s picked on the B and high E strings. Great riff though

We (my army unit) blared this song on loud speakers while in Afghanistan before going out on missions. The moment we started rolling outside the wire we would play “Bodies” by Drowning Pool on the speakers because we knew the locals hated that song and we were looking for a fight.

Couple reasons I love metal: Story-telling, imagery, lyricality, depth and energy. Pop these days lacks a lot of creativity I get from genres like metal. And of course, they always go HARD.
