My Favorite two interactions from Tom Morello is when fans/trolls suddenly said he was political. the two quotes are " What machine did you think we were raging against?" the other was “One does not have to be an honours grad in political science from Harvard University to recognise the unethical and inhumane nature of this administration but well, I happen to be an honours grad in political science from Harvard University, so I can confirm that for you"
Also when someone said, “I used to like you before you went political” and Tom said, “tell me what songs aren’t political so we can remove them from our catalogue”
Hahaha! I have family who say they love RATM, yet they are counter to everything said in the lyrics. Makes me shake my head and laugh at the same time.

You gotta listen to No Shelter. Their contract required them to do an original song for a movie soundtrack, and it's a masterpiece of malicious compliance
Banger line after line in this one. You’re right, there’s no wasted bars. Another banger line is “F the G-Ride, I want the machines that are making them!” Speaking to the fact that we need to seize the means of production.
“The structure is set, you’ll never change it with a ballot pull” The system isn’t broke, it was built that way on purpose. You’ve got a point, the corporations and lobbyists run our government.
You can tell true Rage fans when you ask what their favorite songs are and this one is in their Top 5. A song that never hit radio waves for reasons, this banger is more or less unknown by the general public and lives on in the hearts and minds of the people who really get into this music. Fun aside, I believe the "Just a quiet, peaceful dance" is a nod to John Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath. The gist is about a migrant camp that the higher ups want shut down, so they hire some people to start a riot. The leaders of the camp watch out for troublemakers and when they find them they quietly escort them out. When the authorities arrive expecting trouble, they find nothing of the sort and are told it's just a quiet, peaceful dance. Been years since I read it so hope I'm not too far off. Grapes of Wrath essentially tells the tale of the struggle of the common folk, in this case migrant workers, against their for-profit driven masters who don't care about them, only what they do for them. Second fun fact, Tom Joad is in Grapes, and RATM does a remake of a Bruce Springsteen song "The Ghost of Tom Joad".

Im a RATM lover I have no idea how people ever thought RATM was not a radical socialist band man, bro this song couldnt be more communist if it tried to, its great
people here really just have no clue what communism is. You can say the realest shit, and everyone will agree with you on it, but as soon as you drop the spooky scary C word everyone's freaking out. I think rage knew that. also theres the obvious bit about dipshits that dont actually listen to the lyrics. That's at least like, 50-60% of it too.
"make a move and plead the fifth cause you cant plead the first" is a call to action. Its saying, 'we're not free. you can't just sit back and plead the 1st and expect that the machine will actually let you say what you want to say. Instead you have to make a move, do what you gotta do, and then that might require you to plead the 5th.'
@@Belly_Beane100%, when merely exercising your free speech and voting fails to affect change you have to engage in disruptive protest, otherwise the powers that be will keep walking all over you. It's an unfortunate song and dance we're still forced to do.
I love Rage.....but just think beyond your nose.....What is RATM's net worth?? Zach is worth $25mil. They are rich. You think they didn't get to say what they want? They were expressing their 1st A Right and they got rich from it. And I'm happy for them.
@@tarzn_worx The irony of you telling me to look past my nose, while critiquing a socialist for being wealthy is palpable. It just goes to show that you don't actually understand their message.
Alright, I’m coming back to comment again after watching the video This is peak Rage imo. Plenty of their songs have deep, powerful lyrics on par with Down Rodeo, but its delivery and instrumentals are perfection. I’m so glad that you got around to listening to it, place it in your top two and could appreciate the lyrics for how phenomenal they are. You mentioned in Calm Like a Bomb that you wanted to know what his political views are, and one line in this song summarizes that up well to me “A thousand years they have the tools, we should be taking them Fuck the G-Ride, I want the machines that are makin em” Zack doesn’t want the products that are sold to the consumer; he wants the means to production, the redistribution of wealth. Fun fact, Tom Morello actually majored in political science. There is an interview you can find on RUclips with Zack where you can really get an understanding of where he stands within the first few minutes.
So I’m 44 from Australia and this band changed my perspective on life 30 years ago when they dropped their first single. Seeing them live when I was 17 was to this day one of the best moments of my life. Now go deeper and listen to Snakecharmer or Township Rebellion. Your videos are awesome and people watch because seeing someone experience RATM for the first time is just fucking great. Nothing hits like Rage hits!
WAKE UP should be next!!!! Have the lyrics pulled up because he covers A LOT! J. Edgar Hoover, COINTEL, MLK, Malcolm X. It’s my favorite song by them because of all the meaning and history packed in!!! 🤘🏼🔥🙌🏼
Im a white guy in his 30's from South Africa, been rocking to Rage since i was probably 12 years old. The first time I heard them was in the first Matrix movie (Their song "Wake Up"). I was blown away. The music, the vibe, the message, everything. Just melted my barely teenage brain. So cool to see someone jamming so hard to them 30 years later man. Music is proof we can come from vastly different worlds and get the same message and feeling from art like this. Rock on Rob💯
OH CRAP HE DID IT!!! Keep the great content up, brother. Love it. I LOVE watching you turn into a metalhead. Now Rob. I'm going to beg and plead for this one, and maybe, perhaps you'll see the comment (especially if folks upvote it). I'm willing to wager everything - my house, my firstborn and every penny in my bank account. Listen to "Nobody" by a band called "Skindred". Its Jamaican metal. Yep, you read that right. And it is fan-freaking-tastic. You'll LOVE IT.
Down Rodeo is THAT song! It has all the bars and word play. It did everything right. It's ironic too because it got absolutely no radio play and is still one of the fanbase's favorites. Side note: Rage won their fist Grammy for Tire Me which is also on Evil Empire. That was always weird to me because there were so many other songs more worthy.
No radio play? Shit, this song was several times a day on the rock stations in DFW. Did others get more play? Yeah, of course, but this one was definitely in heavy rotation around here.
We get a 6:16 and Down Rodeo reactions today. This song is so hype. Just thinking about "The structure is set ya neva change it with a ballot pull" - the kids protesting out there heard that and are actin. I'm sure others have shouted it out - but Zack has done some features for Run the Jewels too if you're interested. JU$T is pretty good
You should vote. Don't vote for one of the main parties if you don't want to. Vote third party if you want, or heck, write in a name. But if you don't vote, that just let's politicians know you're too apathetic to do anything. Using your ballot to express your disapproval/dissent is better, and it makes it less possible for the mainstream politicians to just discard Black citizens, youth, poor citizens, etc as too apathetic to matter. As women and POC, our historical kin gave up everything for us to have the right to vote. If it didn't matter at all, they wouldn't work so hard to keep the vote from us.
I cant calculate the damage 9 year old me was responsible for thanks to "Make a move and plead the 5th cuz you cant plead the 1st". One time, someone had broken a window at the neighborhood gas station and they tried to blame it on me because white kids are rare in that part of fayetteville. (I knew who did it and they weren't even white) The gas station owner and the cops pissed me off so much, and my oldest sister's Ratm CD turned me into a little demon. I stole SO MANY bags of doritos, cartons of jungle juice, and bottles of Dr Pepper out of pure spite. The 90's was a wild time lmao Idk how I never got caught.
🤘🤯🤘I love it when people understand how incredible RATM are, and still being pertinent all these decades l8r means we must keep introducing them to more people.

They were super influential in the rap/metal shit that happened in the 90s. Maybe even the#1 (cause who else was doing that in 1991 ?) Limp Bizkit, Korn Kid Rock, Linkin Park, etc... all got a foothold because of Rage. And they all got bigger at the time. But no one is still listening to their shit and being like "oh....damn. that's real"
I recommended this one in the comments to your first RATM video, glad to see the masses pushed it thru. It's my favorite song of theirs, so much so that I'm learning the bassline to it.

I’ve seen so many reactions to this song and this is only the second reaction video where the Fred Hampton line was noticed. That and the “I want the machines that are makin them” are such powerful lines that lots of people gloss over.
one of the hardest hitting songs in their catalog. it's right up there with Voice of the Voiceless. I've seen them 6 times, going back to the tour with Wu Tang and they've only gotten better with age.
Relating to what Rob said about being on a hamster wheel/in a rat race, imo one of the best lines in the song is "Fuck the G ride, I want the machines that are making them". The G ride is a shiny object designed to drain your wallet and keep you in the rat race. The machines that are making them, that's the real power, and very few if any of us are going to be part of that ownership club.
Hey, the needle's moving. It's taken decades but the revitalization of the labor movement and unionization is starting to turn the tide. Generation X wound up as a generation without any real cause, but Y and Z are being put into an untenable position. Unchecked corporate greed, incessant lobbying, misspent tax dollars, the repealing and rolling back of civil liberties and social safety nets... Something's gotta give.
All the people that say they are now "Rage with the Machine" are oblivious to the fact that they are actually the ones that got old and became the establishment that they are against.

I like the quote from the original creator of Cyberpunk, it was a pen and paper game before they turned it into a video game.
He said "Cyberpunk was supposed to be a warning, not an aspiration"
You gotta listen to No Shelter. Their contract required them to do an original song for a movie soundtrack, and it's a masterpiece of malicious compliance
Seriously, he even talks about Godzilla movies
Yes this has to be the next one
Seriously. How did the soundtrack people allow that song on the album / in the movie?
Godzilla?
@@jimwilson6449 Pure motherfuckin filler, keep your eyes off the real killer.
Banger line after line in this one. You’re right, there’s no wasted bars.
Another banger line is “F the G-Ride, I want the machines that are making them!”
Speaking to the fact that we need to seize the means of production.
as a white guy I want to thank RATM for being so inclusive on their album cover. Feels good being the face of the evil empire.
Awww muffin!!😂
My man, it’s been a long journey but we finally made it! 😂
I don’t understand Americans fascination with villains. Japans 1st 3D billboard is cats ours is Darth Vader 🤷♂️
Everyone focuses on that one line, but the hardest bar is "Fkkk the G-ride, I want the machines that are makin em"
My personal favourite.
Emphasizes the difference between the manufacturers and the consumers, we don't even live in the same world.
“The structure is set, you’ll never change it with a ballot pull”
The system isn’t broke, it was built that way on purpose.
Such a good cover
Rob ,, best opening line of a song ever
Jase ,, fuck rob wait till you hear next line you going to lose your shit 😂
Rob ,,, proceeds to lose his shit
BEST REACTION TO MY FAV SONG EVER
Preach 'bout that uniparty! None of them give a f$ck about voters once they get their power.
Im a RATM lover
I have no idea how people ever thought RATM was not a radical socialist band man, bro this song couldnt be more communist if it tried to, its great
people here really just have no clue what communism is. You can say the realest shit, and everyone will agree with you on it, but as soon as you drop the spooky scary C word everyone's freaking out. I think rage knew that.
also theres the obvious bit about dipshits that dont actually listen to the lyrics. That's at least like, 50-60% of it too.
Well their songs weren't really in any movies I can think of, maybe we can put it in some games,...✨🤔
@@pwx9000 The Matrix has Rage in the soundtrack.
2:55 "this video might be twenty minutes"
yup
Based on how big of a Rage fan you have become, I want to see you react to the music video for Sleep Now in the Fire so bad! lol
We’re seeing this in real time this week on campuses. Kids are getting assaulted and arrested, despite remaining peaceful in their protest.
@@Belly_Beane Exactly. They may technically have the right to criticize our government, but they're catching charges for trying to use that right.
Alright, I’m coming back to comment again after watching the video
This is peak Rage imo. Plenty of their songs have deep, powerful lyrics on par with Down Rodeo, but its delivery and instrumentals are perfection. I’m so glad that you got around to listening to it, place it in your top two and could appreciate the lyrics for how phenomenal they are.
You mentioned in Calm Like a Bomb that you wanted to know what his political views are, and one line in this song summarizes that up well to me
“A thousand years they have the tools, we should be taking them
Fuck the G-Ride, I want the machines that are makin em”
Zack doesn’t want the products that are sold to the consumer; he wants the means to production, the redistribution of wealth. Fun fact, Tom Morello actually majored in political science. There is an interview you can find on RUclips with Zack where you can really get an understanding of where he stands within the first few minutes.
RATM are beyond legendary. Down Rodeo hits so hard. Rob is you are after your next fix give WAKE UP a listen :D Love you dude!
You have to listen to “Freedom” ROB! That is the one, I promise you brotha!
Oh yea Skindred is sick!
!!!!!
I knew @RobTV was gonna rage on this one!!! Awesome
Yeah, of course, but this one was definitely in heavy rotation around here.
rob, its okay that you pause this much. this is not just music, this is a whole message, and you understand pretty much everything.
JU$T is pretty good
The timestamp was my reaction to the uploads
Saw an almost 20 minute video & was like "oh yeah, he LOVED it"
Have you listened to Sleep Now in the Fire by Rage? It’s also a banger.
Yes, WITH the video is a must!!
"F#$% da G ride, I want the machines that are makin them" My favorite RATM song of all time
Paying attention. Catching all the subtleties and messages. This made my day.
I would suggest the band CLUTCH as a great jam band. they are one of the funkest bands and they keep rock alive.
You've done two of my top 3 rage tracks now. Hope you get to Ashes in the Fall
Fuck the 'G' ride, I want the machines that are making them
✊🏾
I'm only 3 minutes in but this might be the best reaction video of all times.
Take the power back has to be next. One of my favorites!
Great vid as always HollywoodRob!! No disrespect to you or Tom Morello, but Jimi Hendrix 🐐 guitarist!
That bass line is grooving
I know you mean Fayetteville, NC....
✊🏾Zack did a song with The Last Emperor and KRS-1 called C.I.A (criminals in action)✊🏾
And you're welcome
@@nadograymountainlyricist lounge was fn dope. Tons of good shit there.
🤘🤯🤘I love it when people understand how incredible RATM are, and still being pertinent all these decades l8r means we must keep introducing them to more people.
I keep thinking I can't like any reactions more than your previous ones and you keep upping that ante. Love it bro.
"Fuck the G-ride I want the machines that are makin' em"
Zack wants those means of production. :)
Stoked on this reaction,
We gotta do ‘Wake Up’ next
for the "Trying White Music" Bob Dylan - Hurricane / Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird / Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven !!!!it will be a chain reaction
Yes! Let's keep it going!
Wake up.....Wake up...Waaaaakee Upppp.
Try RATM version of “Pistol Grip Pump “. It is a song they covered , but DAMN it kicks all kinds of ass !
Yo! You capture that same feeling I felt when hearing this on the radio in my 20s. RAGM still so relevant. Bless.
My man, Rob. You gotta do Wake Up next. It’s even more fire than this one. Keep up the good work bro!
Been waiting for this one!!! ❤❤❤
The chorus and a lot of the way Zack is rapping on this is a callback to “Pistol Grip Pump” by Level 10.
You're def in my top 3 best reactor in all genres.. keep it up bruh, you deserve millions of subscribers
I'm constantly checking to see if you've done another RATM song. Your reaction to these are the best. I've been waiting for this song specifically and wasn't disappointed. And as much as I want to see you do Rage songs. I'm dying to see you do Weird Al's "White and Nerdy."
Yes, i remember buying this cd in the store 😅
Another great reaction. Zack truly is an underrated lyricist--he's so brilliant.❤️
I was just listening to Maria. If you want a song with hard guitar and bass lines, that's the one!
They were super influential in the rap/metal shit that happened in the 90s. Maybe even the#1 (cause who else was doing that in 1991
?)
Limp Bizkit, Korn Kid Rock, Linkin Park, etc... all got a foothold because of Rage. And they all got bigger at the time. But no one is still listening to their shit and being like "oh....damn. that's real"
Voice of the Voiceless and Marie next for RATM -- diehard fan of them, trust
Not sure if you fuck with RTJ but zack has been on a couple of their songs too
One Day As a Lion (Zack De La Rocha)- Wild International
I recommended this one in the comments to your first RATM video, glad to see the masses pushed it thru. It's my favorite song of theirs, so much so that I'm learning the bassline to it.
I like how you used expeditiously haha, you are the man dude
React to freedom of rage against the machine dude
You aren't done yet... So many great songs left. Considering they only released four albums and one was all cover songs they really had a lot of hits. Wake up is a definite must listen to
I love you man. You're too f**ING good at these reactions. You really care what he has to say and we can tell you really like and enjoy RATM. Glad I found your channel brother. Peace from Colombia 👍
Finally!!! And… you’ve only still scratched the surface.
A Master makes you Kneel, a Leader Helps you Stand…I will Vote the moment a Leader presents Him, Her or Theirselves.
*PS: Get ready for the Heat that comes with Unregistering to Vote. I get it whenever people ask which Wing I fly with.
Couldn’t agree more. Keep hitting songs from the first album especially!
Finally! That was good. Ty m
You gotta do a review for No Shelter. A definite must
Wind Below next. 🗿
Dude, It's So Weird Being the Same Age As Old People! Lolin' Out Loud!
Great video, RATM - "TAKE THE POWER BACK" IS A BANGER 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I hope you do it 👍
It’s such a stupid old lie. Those idiots have no idea what the machine is.
9 times outta ten it’s the same dudes who thought they loved rage back in the day (but obvi didn’t ever listen to their lyrics), than lost their sht in 2020 when they got mad rage had “become political.”
I follow Tom on twitter & while he’s become something of a cornball, he’s also still showing up. Just saw him giving a free concert at a campus protest.
Check out the song “Maria” by them
Been waiting for this!!!!!
Hey Hollywood. Hype as fuck for this reaction. Been waiting for this one.
Suggestion for another one of your white people music.
You've already done Hi Ren but don't be sleeping on him. Ren: illest of our time, Murderer, the hunger and money game parts 1-3. Dude can rap, dude has a #1 album WITHOUT a label, dude can so any fucking genre of music.
