Scott your videos are a great inspiration to those of us that are getting started on this journey. They helped me set up my first listing in April. At this point I have listed 47 items and made over 20 sales. I use my phone to take pics and to list. If I have to make changes I find it easier to do it on my computer. One thing as soon as the buyer pays I print the label right away and I ship the next day at the latest. So far so good. Again thanks. You are definitely a great inspiration to all of us .
@@TheChaChingKing All I did was follow the advice you provided. Being active daily does help. Funny as I am responding to you my phone just went Chaching ! time to print that label and get ready to ship !
You can put your shipping policy to that many days and then include a statement in your description. It wouldn't hurt to send a buyer a message when you make a sale and let them know when it will ship, too.@@dye2knit
Very useful advice. I just wanted to say however, I had someone tie up my first listing last year because I allowed the 'make offer' option. They didn't pay and also locked up my listing for 28 days, plus I had to report a dispute to eBay on my very first attempt to sell something. I didn't lose any money, but if I wasn't so wary I might have sent the item on good faith and lost it. I did manage to sell the item right after the 30 days but it certainly took some of the positivity out of my sails.
I love your videos. They are perfect for someone who doesn't know what to do when it comes to certain things when it comes to the process of reselling. Thank you so much!

I know this is a video from 2023, but you helped me get my first item listed on eBay..... Today🎉 Thank you so much for your detailed, well-paced tutorial. You made this happen for me and Iam very grateful. 😊
We have a list of things to sell that are collecting dust around the house, including cd, dvd, books, tired decorations that have some value. Two weeks ago, I couldn't think of more than one item to sell. Since then, we started a list of things to sell by watching reseller videos. Some of the items they pick up at their sales are in my inventory. Wesee what they are buying and think... we have one of those or something similar or it brings to mind something else. This is how wemake our list. Should we open a seperate bank account? Afraid our bill money will get mixed with the sales money.
Scott, we're just dipping our toes into the eBay waters, planning on building a business to enjoy during our upcoming (4 years) retirement. We've learned a lot from all of your videos, but help! While creating a listing, where do I find the "custom label" or "custom UPC" so I can enter the storage location? We look forward to huge success and your videos will surely help us get there! I need to ask does ebay charges sellers any fees for payouts on bank transfer or not also if they do then where can I ask them to pay me and I will not occur any payout charges, they have paid my less the figure is different which is showing on my payput its alot less. please let me know
HI Scott, My little brother is insisting on reselling online, has been selling at the flea market with my parents since he was 14. Hes turning 16 this year, but my parents wont let him on the fact if he doesn't sell he would open a bank account and lose on monthly services fees. I've heard that you can use eBay balance as a way to pay for labels but wont that be impossible with the money being on hold for 3 business days
You should be able to pay for the label from the eBay balance. While it isn't available for immediate withdrawal, it is available for labels. The bigger issue might just be his age. I think you have to be 18 to sell on eBay. But I'm not entirely sure. And, you will need a bank account to withdraw the money from eBay. It's funny, one of my fears when we started treating eBay like a business was that I was afraid it would cost more in bank fees, ebay fees and shipping than I was making. We turned it into a real income. It's harder when you're starting because you don't have a balance forward. But you can make a living on ebay.
Thank you ill let my parents know, they just rather wait to see result, rather than jumping in and him loosing. ebay Tos says 18 but with parent permission or account. Again Thank You!
Very great tutorial. I've been selling locally for years and never did shipping because I don't know how to. What I don't get still is how do you know how much the shipping will be? I have so many vintage Scream masks I unfortunately need to get rid of due to medical expenses. Also will you do an updated tutorial on shipping the item out? Thanks!
I just shipped a Gen 1 Small Dot mask. I put it in a large zip lock bag. Then I put that in a box surrounded by packing paper. I shipped it USPS Priority mail just because of the cost. As far as what to charge, you could always use a USPS medium flat rate Priority box and it'll run $14. If you charge $13.99 you'll be close.
Sure. When you first open an account and start selling on eBay, eBay needs to make sure you're a decent person. So, they limit how much you can list until they see that you're actually shipping the stuff you sell and that the customers are happy. It protects their customers and their platform. The limits typically start with 10 items and $500 TOTAL in listings...whichever one you hit first. Those limits start going up after 30 days, and you successfully complete transactions.
If you have an eBay account, and it's linked to a bank account, you just have to start listing. If it's not linked to a bank, you may need to do that first.

You'll be restricted if the account is brand new. How long it takes to unlock now listings friends on the account. If you are completing sales successfully, you can get it raised fairly quickly. Often within a month
I have to guess since I can't see what's happening. But, if you don't see the "Add video" button in the Sell Your Item form, it might mean that you are currently using the classic view. You need to click "Try the new listing tool" in the top right corner of the page.
I have find the answer. When i open my store with Ebay Canada, we dont have Add video but if i connect with any other country, i have Add video@@TheChaChingKing
I have subscribed to your very helpful videos, Thank you. Do you have a video about featured categories? I have created the categories, but am unable to attach listings, so I was hoping for a video from you. Thank you
I haven't done that mainly because it doesn't help with my inventory process. We tried categories for a while, but we just never used the information. That said, I can try and show how to do it in an upcoming video.
The free boxes USPS gives you must be used with Priority Mail. Priority Mail is much more expensive. It's cheaper to ship it First Class and buy the box than it is to ship Priority
When starting a new ebay business, what General liabilty insurance do you need to have and when is the best time after starting to resale to switch over to a ebay store?
I'm truly not qualified to give advice about things like insurance and taxes. I talked to professionals who know what they are doing to keep form making a mistake. As far as when it's time to open a store, I actually made a video for that. Maybe it will help. :-) ruclips.net/video/Hb_nhQMyNfs/видео.html
You do not need a store subscription to do this. Go to your Seller Hub. From there, find the box labeled SELLING TOOLS. On mine, it's near the bottom of the Seller hub page. The last link the the Selling Tools box is one called TIME AWAY. Open that and you should see where you can schedule some time away.
You can sell those brands, but there might be limitations based on where you are located. Many brands don't allow you to sell the items as new. Also, popular brands like these often report people for selling imitations (fakes). But if you have authentic pieces, these brands do sell.
When getting ready to list and then store items, do you pack them up first to get the weight and size, and then store? I can't seem to get this through my head? Thank you again...
If you are using calculated shipping, you need to know the packaged size and weight of the item. BUT, once you've found out how much an XL t-shirt is going to weigh, you'll get better and better at just knowing. You won't have to do every item. Melody and I can both look at an item and have a very good idea how it's going to ship. So, that process gets much easier with experience.
How do you get a split picture as the main photo. For example I want to show the front and back of the t shirt as my main photo, and I’ve seen listings with a half pic front and the other half back. Any help would be appreciated thank u,and thanx for all ur videos
hello I feel a flat file in My eBay but the problem is that I have no sales, could I show you my products so you can tell me what you think about them so could you tell me how to act in this case? what actions to take could you recommend some tutorials for me?
Not necessarily. Because eBay is currently handling all of the international returns for any reason, I hesitate to accept them on my end. I don't know that it would, but I would hate to have to accept a return on my end when eBay does all of it. eBay's international shipping accepts ALL of the responsibility. So, a big part of it is that I don't need to accept returns.@@terrymiller7392
I posted the link to this your question on the other video. I also made a video about the Seller Hub. Maybe it can be helpful, too. ruclips.net/video/a0H1Q-hN5F8/видео.html
Very helpful video. Did you ever have an issue with the item returned was different than what you sent? Also, what about someone purchasing for temporary use and then returning?
My entire return rate is less than 2%. I've never had a different item returned, but I'm aware it could happen. If I've had any "rented," it was very few. Returns are a real part of the business, but a small part overall.
@TheChaChingKing Do have the same return process when selling something like watches, or should jewelry be treated differently? This would be my first time creating an account.
I wanna try my fist listing but im worried if i get suspended for listing a products that im not suppposed to as a new seller.Whats products i shouldnt sell for now in order to avoid suspension?
Love your videos!!I am still confused about where and when I enter my bank account information. I thought you said it would happen after I sold something. How does that work? Getting geared up to do my first listing. Thanks,
@@TheChaChingKing Thank you so much for kindly replying to me after many trials using eBay apps worked thank you. You are a great teacher. I’m looking forward to see your channel!
It depends on your location. I know there are some countries that it may still be required. But, eBay has been moving everyone possible over to their own managed payment system.
When you purchase the label on eBay, you can just print it. If you don't have a printer, you can send yourself a QR code and the post office will print it.
With Amazon it is still shipped on Sunday. How do you state one day if the next day is Sunday for the post office? Is it implied? Or is it always shipped next day as a statement?
I personally think they do anything to help. They may interfere with how the search engine reads the title. So, I rarely use them. That said, I may use them to highlight a word like DAMAGED so that a buyer couldn't argue they didn't know. It won't help search, but I get a false sense of security from it. Lol
Hello! Incredible video. Quick question, where do I buy the shipping materials. Is there anywhere where its free or low cost? Coming from Canada, not USA.
In the US, LOTS of people get shipping supplies from places like our dollar stores. The bring in so many products and throw the supplies away. I don't know what equivalent you have there. Surely there is a store that wouldn't mind you checking their dumpsters for bubble wrap and boxes. I buy my bubble wrap from American Bubble Boy. I buy my boxes from eBay and Amazon.
Such a great video!!Quick question though,I opened an Ebay Business account, does that mean i need to open an Ebay Business Bank account or can i just use my personal bank account for the payouts?I tried to apply for a bussines bank account but it seems my bank wants me to have an actual business registered with a registration number.
Are you trying to change it on an existing listing? One thing to check is the "immediate payment" option. If you have that checked, you can't set it to an auction.
I'm having a hard time in Canada getting ebay to default to chit-chat US shipping address so I can use USPS instead of the ridiculously priced Canada Post...I'm new to selling and would appreciate some help. I love your videos...cheers
Canada gets the worst deal of any of our neighbors and shipping destinations. It makes no sense. That said, I've never tried to do what you are doing. Having no experience with it, I'm not much help.
Hello help! When I listing a hard good like a pitcher is the right way to wrap it,box it, weigh it and put it in the closet till it sells What I'm asking is you have to weigh as you list.I have had 3 weight discrepancies. Is that normal? Thank you
Ive been binging all your videos, thank you. Im struggling with the shipping. Can I use the priority boxes that usps provides for ground advantage? I mean, if I use them and simply put them inside my own padded envelope and ship it through ground advantage? The price of the priority shipping small and medium boxes is just too high but its roughly the size I need. Thanks!
Thank you for the kind words! You truly can't do that, though. It's actually a criminal offense to use Priority supplies for anything other than Priority shipping. You can only use Priority supplies when you ship Priority.
@@TheChaChingKing Thanks for confirming that. As a beginner, do you recommend buying boxes to use? Also do you have any videos on packaging toys? I ordered an action figure which was shipped to me through priority flat rate envelope, when I opened it, it was inside a box which was a flat rate box also. Is this technically wrong as well?
@@TheChaChingKing Also for idea for future videos I would love to hear your thoughts on flat rate boxes vs ground advantage. As a newbie Im struggling with this idea. Because on the one hand I want the flat rate boxes but the price of that shipping is insanely high, and on the flip side ground advantage is a lot harder as a beginner since I have to get all supplies myself.
Hi! I just started following you, here and on Instagram! This might seem obvious to some people, but for the life of me, I can't find the sellers hub. It's not in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Ebay just tells me how to use it, not find it. Hope you can help! Thank you so much!
Cha Ching King , when listing an item and it’s not calculated shipping, do I have to fill in weight and dimensions with all shipping materials spot on or can I do the product weight alone and fill the rest when printing the label?
You need to be close enough that if someone buys it through international shipping that it doesn't create a problem. But, outside of that, it won't make much difference at all.
Yes, just don't opt into the international sales. That said, if you only use the Ebay International Shipping service, it's a no risk set up for the seller. They take all the returns, deal with all of the customs and handle any complaints. So far, NONE of it comes back to the seller.
Hiya, I've been offered the opportunity to list items for 80% discount on final buy now sale price is it possible to un list my items & then relist them at the discount rate please?
You can easily end items and then relist them at any price you choose. They will each count towards your monthly allotment of listings that you can do. But it is entirely possible.
Thank you. I want to let you know that you are one of the best teacher that I have encounter in my research of re-selling information. I loved the way you explain and inspire me to start listing. Now definitively I will change my user ID. I did not know we can do that.
My goal when I started this channel was to be helpful and encouraging. I honestly wasn't sure I had anything to offer that wasn't already being done and done well. So, your comment is genuinely appreciated. Thank you. @@MaritzaRodriguezCruz-k3k
Scot, thanks. When at the bottom of the listing you check”pay Immediately” does that prevent your ability to choose who you sell to. If they pay immediately and they have a questionable or negative feedback or buying history your on the hook. Am I correct?
Yes and no. Even without immediate payment required, the buyer could pay immediately. And, if they didn't pay immediately and you cancel the sale after checking out their feedback, they could still leave you feedback. So, it doesn't have a big impact one way or the other. In my opinion.
UGH, I hate that. You have to change your printer settings on your computer AND in ebay. It's really hard to fix from here because it seems to be different on every computer.
It can take some time for it to show up. And with it being your only listing, eBay won't give it priority in the search. Congrats on getting started!!!
@@TheChaChingKing thanks for answering! How long will it take? And how to get relevance? List more or promote? Thanks for your content it's helped a lot
You can literally use any background you like. I've actually used grass before. I had some enormous quilts that simply couldn't be photographed indoors. And, I live in the country and don't have pavement. So...grass it was. It turned out just fine.

Just came across your site. I'm looking to start selling for the first time on here. QUESTION! How do I get paid for selling my items on EBAY?
eBay will deposit your earnings directly into your bank account.
Thanks for this step by step. It was a huge help.
Glad it helped!
Do I pay for shipping and then later get reimbursed when the customer pays for shipping?
Ok I see. But that means you need a store subscription correct? Is there a way to do it without a store subscription?
You do not need a store subscription to do this. Go to your Seller Hub. From there, find the box labeled SELLING TOOLS. On mine, it's near the bottom of the Seller hub page. The last link the the Selling Tools box is one called TIME AWAY. Open that and you should see where you can schedule some time away.
uncle, your video is really helpful please guide uncle can i sell brand products like nike Adidas and others?
I use the program InShot. It's simple to use and has several different options.
Ok cool I'll check it out. Gracias
Another great educational video!
Thanks!
How does it work when the customer pays for shipping?Does shipping cost come from the customers immediate payment?
Yes. If it isn't right now, it's probably just because the account is new.
What a great easy video for beginners...
Thank you!
hello
I feel a flat file in My eBay but the problem is that I have no sales, could I show you my products so you can tell me what you think about them
so could you tell me how to act in this case?
what actions to take
could you recommend some tutorials for me?
As much as I'd like to, I can't do individual mentorships right now. I am trying to figure how to do some in the future.
@TheChaChingKing any mentorship? I do not understand what you mean
That's not what I'm asking you, I'm just asking you a question.
Thank you
This was a very instructive video, thank you. One question, why don't you allow international returns?
If I allowed international returns, I'd have to pay shipping to get it back. That's usually not worth it for me.
When it says return shipping is paid by the buyer, is that not true for international returns?@@TheChaChingKing
How can I go directly to the Seller Hub page?
I posted the link to this your question on the other video. I also made a video about the Seller Hub. Maybe it can be helpful, too. ruclips.net/video/a0H1Q-hN5F8/видео.html
I have some pieces of furniture to sell can I ask the buyer to collect? Never done eBay before.
You can list items for "pick up only."
Thanks for that
Very helpful video.
That question is too broad for me to give you an accurate answer. What are you considering listing? If I knew that, I could try to answer better.
Love your videos!!I am still confused about where and when I enter my bank account information. I thought you said it would happen after I sold something. How does that work? Getting geared up to do my first listing. Thanks,
It will ask you to enter your information either when you list an item, or when you sell one.
i can't see Require immediate payment when buyer uses buy it now im new at ebay try to sell today :)
It's probably in the business policy you have set. It's changed a little bit since this video was made.
How do I find the Seller Hub page?
Opt in to the Seller Hub here: www.ebay.com/sellerhub
What address do you use for your returns? Is it best to get a P O BOX?
I use a PO Box and I'd recommend that if you don't have a place that can receive packages for you.
Hi, Ebay is not showing "buy it now" only listing? It only letting me to do Auction and buy it now both. Did they change some rules?
Hmmm...not that I'm aware of. Are you trying to revise a listing? Or create a new one?
@@TheChaChingKing Thank you so much for kindly replying to me after many trials using eBay apps worked thank you. You are a great teacher. I’m looking forward to see your channel!
Thank you for the good video, payonner is not necessary?
It depends on your location. I know there are some countries that it may still be required. But, eBay has been moving everyone possible over to their own managed payment system.
Uploading a video to the eBay listing page.
"Complete you listing.
Upload video or drag & drop.
Up pops in the square. FALSE"
What does that suggest?
It's having trouble with the file. It's either not the right format or is too large in size. I can't know for sure without seeing it.
Thank you! Now I have to figure out how I get a shipping label - does eBay send me that?
When you purchase the label on eBay, you can just print it. If you don't have a printer, you can send yourself a QR code and the post office will print it.
@@TheChaChingKing thanks! Wow I have so much to learn
With Amazon it is still shipped on Sunday. How do you state one day if the next day is Sunday for the post office? Is it implied? Or is it always shipped next day as a statement?
"one day" on eBay is the next business day. So, even though I ship on Saturdays, I wouldn't have to.
Idk what I’m doing wrong I list I sell them it’s like eBay sends me a very small payment I am missing how to set prices.
I will try to put a future video together that breaks down how to estimate how much you'll make in a sale.
This is a great question! I am glad you asked about this, I am curious too❤️. I haven't done my first yet, but this is one of my fears🫣
I like to use dashes to make keywords stand out (Spider-Man - book lot - characters - marvel comics)...do they help or hinder?
I personally think they do anything to help. They may interfere with how the search engine reads the title. So, I rarely use them. That said, I may use them to highlight a word like DAMAGED so that a buyer couldn't argue they didn't know. It won't help search, but I get a false sense of security from it. Lol
@@TheChaChingKing yeah, I do this so the title won't look like a run-on sentence...thanx!
A regular bank account works just fine. 😀
it is not letting me change the format of the pricing option. Has anyone ran into this?
Are you trying to change it on an existing listing? One thing to check is the "immediate payment" option. If you have that checked, you can't set it to an auction.
what about the banking? how do you get paid? Should I set up a Paypal or does ebay work with actual bank account?
You no longer need PayPal at all. eBay will make the deposits directly into your bank.
Thanks
I'm having a hard time in Canada getting ebay to default to chit-chat US shipping address so I can use USPS instead of the ridiculously priced Canada Post...I'm new to selling and would appreciate some help. I love your videos...cheers
Canada gets the worst deal of any of our neighbors and shipping destinations. It makes no sense. That said, I've never tried to do what you are doing. Having no experience with it, I'm not much help.

Hello help! When I listing a hard good like a pitcher is the right way to wrap it,box it, weigh it and put it in the closet till it sells
What I'm asking is you have to weigh as you list.I have had 3 weight discrepancies. Is that normal?
Thank you
Thank Scott, I have a question. I have to put my address or I should open a P.O. Box to send an item. Thank you again
Personally, I like having a post office box. I used my home address for decades without issue. But I like having a po box.
Thank you so much, you’re the best
Try going to ebay.com/sellerhub and see if that works
Cha Ching King , when listing an item and it’s not calculated shipping, do I have to fill in weight and dimensions with all shipping materials spot on or can I do the product weight alone and fill the rest when printing the label?
You need to be close enough that if someone buys it through international shipping that it doesn't create a problem. But, outside of that, it won't make much difference at all.
Thanks Cha Ching King
Is there a way to restrict sales to just the US? I don't want to deal with international shipping just yet/
Yes, just don't opt into the international sales. That said, if you only use the Ebay International Shipping service, it's a no risk set up for the seller. They take all the returns, deal with all of the customs and handle any complaints. So far, NONE of it comes back to the seller.
@@TheChaChingKing Thank you so much!!!
Is it safe as a seller to use my bank account vs. paypal or cc? Thanks
It always had been for me. I have never had an issue
Great video. How do you get payed? Ebay wants my bank information. What are my options?
I use a bank account specifically for eBay/business. I have never had a single issue.
thanx

Hi. If you are a new seller and you have a store, does Ebay restrict you to list say 10 items only when you start listing?
You still have the restrictions until you've successfully sold some items.
Thank you. I want to let you know that you are one of the best teacher that I have encounter in my research of re-selling information. I loved the way you explain and inspire me to start listing. Still I feel a little nervous about how to start but I am getting ready to jump in. I am taking my time because I want to feel more confident and you are helping me just do that.
@@TheChaChingKing Makes sense. My take away would be to choose wisely what you sell and where you sell.
so i just sold my first item on ebay. the issue i'm having is the label is printing sideways and i can't seem fix the problem.
UGH, I hate that. You have to change your printer settings on your computer AND in ebay. It's really hard to fix from here because it seems to be different on every computer.
@@TheChaChingKing found it. Ebay setting.
Where can I find my seller limit amount?
Mine is on the bottom left-hand side of the seller hub.
@TheChaChingKing Thankyou I found it
My shipping screen is not like yours and can't get package options or calculated rates. There's nothing behind the options listed.
The platform changed a little bit after this video was made. You probably need to create shipping policies to match what you're wanting to do.
I listed my first item yesterday and had my dad check if he could see it. It isnt there. Does it take a long time to post?
It can take some time for it to show up. And with it being your only listing, eBay won't give it priority in the search.
Congrats on getting started!!!

You can literally use any background you like. I've actually used grass before. I had some enormous quilts that simply couldn't be photographed indoors. And, I live in the country and don't have pavement. So...grass it was. It turned out just fine.
