My biggest issue is that I have lots of varying size boxes that have been given to me, so I'm never sure exactly which one is best to use for different items. • @TheChaChingKing
      @TheChaChingKing  Год назад +2

      I know boxes are an expense. But, for me, having several exact sizes of boxes just makes things easier for me. Plus, they are easier to store. I totally understand the benefits of recycling and reducing costs...but it doesn't work for me.
      I TRULY appreciate the encouraging comment. I know you can do this.

    • @jellen7332
      @jellen7332 10 месяцев назад +1

      really check out pirate ship... you can change size of box and weight easily to see if it matters. the size of the box seems to make it cost more. so a box 10x10x4 @ 1lb to CO is 9.43 (Priority) and 14 oz. is $6.60 for ground advantage and 9.43 priority and if the box was 9x9x4 and 14 oz. was the exact same price. so just make the item fit in the box so its snug, cut it down to size if possible and learn as you go....

    I think the number 1 at the end of 5001 signifies a left-handed reel, as opposed to the right-handed reel which is the 5000. Also, the C stands for a ball-bearing spool on the reel, while the regular 5000 does not have ball bearings under the spool. Great, instructional video. Thanks!

    For some new eBay sellers, they may want to pack the item for shipping before listing so they have an accurate weight and measurement for the item, especially if they are choosing calculated shipping. While eBay's shipping discount may give sellers a little room, mistakes with calculated shipping could garner a sale which drastically diminishes their profit. Then they must decide to either take the $ hit or cancel an order which could ding their seller metrics.

I did purchase a rollo - even though I have not set up anything yet, just wanted to have one. Once I get started, I am not stopping. lol I have watched a lot of other videos in the past, so as soon as I am finished with my full time job that is ending in March I can truly focus on getting online selling started. I really enjoyed your video and will set up a link so I can refer back to it when I get ready to post. I need all the help I can get. I just get nervous some, because I want to make sure I have all my T's crossed and I's dotted. My main issue, is setting up a business name, keeping track of that, what is the best way. Names, you can be stuck with and I want something nice and catchy, like yours. Seen one of your video where you sell stickers. That was cool, but you also need a good audience for that. Maybe I can get brave and start a RUclips video showing epic fails haha 😂 😂 Thank you again for providing us your knowledge. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Happy New Year.

      Happy New Year! Thank you so much for commenting. For reference, I've sold two sets of stickers and two t-shirts. I've given away HUNDREDS. :-) I don't really try to sell them.
      I 100% understand wanting things to be in order. A couple of quick notes. You can change the name of your eBay store. Mine was originally Old School Woodworks. Back in the 90's I sold mostly lumber off my mill. We changed the name of that store once we moved to vintage stuff. The ChaChingKing name...that was just dumb luck. LOL I don't know anything about marketing. It just rhymed and was available. So, maybe, don't press yourself too hard to do everything perfect. My advice is to do the best you can and then work hard enough to make everyone think that it was easy for you.
      YOU'VE GOT THIS!

    Cheers from geezers Cindy and Ric in New Orleans!!! We have a ton of stuff in our storage facility. A great deal of vintage (made in the USA before 1980) denims - LEE, LEVI, WRANGLER...Kitchen equipment, antique appliances, plates and iron pans....However we are complete IDIOTS when it comes to the nuts and bolts and how to... the listing process getting things up and running, blah blah. These tutorials could not be more timely for us - exactly what the Doctor ordered. Many thanks. We'll be looking in....and, learning.

    I think it makes sense for everyone to turn off immediate payment only. Some customers don’t have their account setup for it and don’t want to, you lose them. Some come straight from google search and don’t even have an eBay account yet, they certainly don’t have immediate payment setup, you lose them as well, some people like to add a bunch of stuff to their cart and pay for everything at once, you lose them as well. It’s best to be patient, let them pay when they’re ready.

    • @TheChaChingKing
      @TheChaChingKing  9 месяцев назад

      I totally understand that point of view. The beauty of having your own eBay business is that you can build it to suit you. I would never turn off immediate payment as a general rule again. I have tried it. The percentage of listings that didn't get paid for was too high for "sales" that weren't paid right away. Picking up a few extra sales wasn't worth the aggravation of having to relist things on a regular basis. It's important to build this in a way that suits you.

    Thanks for yet another great video. I would love to see a video of just packing up items...shoes, plush, clothes, breakables, whatever. 🙂 Question: do you ever offer free shipping and/or would you recommend a new seller to? As a buyer, that's the first thing I look for.

    • @TheChaChingKing
      @TheChaChingKing  Год назад +2

      Very rarely do I offer free shipping. Most of my items are the only one, so I'm not competing with others. Free shipping limits my ability to consider offers and running sales.
      The lamps are beyond cool. Just beyond cool. If I go to the trouble of rewiring them, I'll just keep them and not feel bad about it.

    • @TheChaChingKing
      @TheChaChingKing  Год назад

      The best things to list are things around your house that you can part with, that aren't terribly valuable and are easy to ship. A pair of jeans you never wore. A wallet or purse that was never carried. A stuffed animal in great shape. Just find things that actually sell. You are typically limited to around 10 items and/or $500 total value. You can get that raised as you successfully complete transactions.

    It's so interesting to watch difference seasoned resellers RUclips videos on how the do business. "IF" I remember correctly two of my favorites Rebel Reseller and Nurse Flipper use First Class for shipping when the item qualifies and calculated for everything else. On another video of yours (again if I remember correctly) you said you don't use calculated that much. May I ask why. Also, "IF" I remember correctly Nurse Flipper said she never starts a listing from scratch, she will find something as close as she can and start with it. Then she double checks everything and of course makes any needed adjustments. This is what I have been doing because it does seem to save a lot of time, but now your mention of "veros" that could be 'hiding' has me concerned. Whew. I've only be selling on eBay since March 2022 and that was just a trial....it was July 2022 before I "dove in" ......SO MUCH to learn. So much.....thank you for all the teaching videos!!!!!

    • @TheChaChingKing
      @TheChaChingKing  Год назад +1

      You touch on a very interesting point. You can listen to a bunch of different experienced resellers and get a bunch of different answers. The reality is, there's a bunch of correct answers. The good news is that one of the best parts of having your own business is that YOU get to decide what works best for you. And, don't forget, there are also wrong answers. I had someone ask me once why I didn't put my inventory location in the SKU. The truth was, I just didn't. I was doing it much more clumsy than I needed to. Now, I put it in the SKU...but I didn't for over 15 years. LOL So, pick and choose from anyone you find on here (including me) to do what works best for you.
      I explained why I don't do much calculated shipping in my latest video. The number one reason is that I ship a lot of similar items and I know what it'll cost. Second, calculated shipping often charges the customer more than it needs to. And, lastly, if the customer isn't logged in on their own computer or ship to alternate locations, they won't see the correct shipping price. I believe that any clicks I can save between them looking at my item and purchasing it, the better.

    Thank you for this video. If you watch the Ebay YT videos, they'll say you need to box up your product so you can supply the dimensions. I'm thinking that I would have a bunch of filled boxes of my inventory laying around taking up room. And.....I was worried that if my educated guess was slightly off and I didn't get the dimensions correct, that the Ebay police would be knocking at the door asking to confiscate my tape measure. I'd love to hear anyone's feedback.
    Oh, and Scot. If you want to save a small bit of time that will add up as you list, learn to use Control C to copy and Control V to paste. You'll be surprised at how quick it is.

    • @TheChaChingKing
      @TheChaChingKing  11 месяцев назад

      Control V...now you sound like my son. 😀 I type like a drunken monkey...but I know I need to develop some muscle memory of the keystrokes. It would really help with editing videos.
      I would only use the boxes to get the correct weight and dimensions. Once you have those, store it in your inventory system unboxed. Keep a few standard boxes made to check and see what works best. Storing them packaged would be a nightmare for me.

    I find using the hub confusing as well as iPad app. However if I just use the old version it does not give me that option for that eBay global shipping center. So I guess I just need to get used to the hub. And where did you get your box to ship those lamps? Also I noticed that you do normally priority mail. I have found when I do the calculated shipping it’s cheaper to do USPS parcel post. I mean it’s considerably cheaper and I feel like customers would prefer to pay less but I have a heckuva time finding boxes for my items. my stuff is all over the place in size. Another great video! I really wish she would do one a day. I would also like to hear your ideas for people that sell different size things on how to inventory it. Right now I probably have 50 boxes like Sterlite or Rubbermaid and those can be quite costly. Of course that’s just for stuff I have listed now. I’m hoping to get back to listing soon I’ve hit a rough spot in my illness but I probably could fill another 40 boxes easy so any advice on a more economical way to store in bulk would be appreciated. I use a lot of talk to text so I apologize in advance because sometimes it’s like playing the game mad gab when you read my comments.

    • @TheChaChingKing
      @TheChaChingKing  Год назад +1

      Because I am SO limited on space, I just buy the box I need. I also had someone give me a nice stack of large moving boxes. And, I'm pretty good at making my own boxes from flat cardboard. So, I make the size I need if I have to. I've never really shipping Parcel Post. BUT, with the cost of shipping rising so much in the last couple of years, I may start. As far as how to store the inventory, I use Sterlite tubs. And they are stupid expensive. I bought mine back when they were about $7. I'm not sure why they've gone up so much. The same tubs I bought for $7 are $15-18 now. Just crazy. I don't have a more economical solution for you. :-(

    Hi Scott. Thank you for your videos - they are very helpful and I love your enthusiasm. I was wondering if there was a difference in the platform for resellers vs everyday sellers like me The reason I'm asking is because many of the selections that you talk about in your video are not available to me (e.g. No Subtitle offering, No SKU area, No Shipping Policy that you can set, etc.). Would you provide some feedback on this for me. I would be happy to share screenshots with you that show what I'm talking about. Thanks for your input.

    This shows the seller not using eBay's new International Shipping Program (which replaced the Global Shipping Program). According to eBay, all users who don't opt out will be onboarded to the new International Shipping Program by summer 2023 IIRC, which takes care of all of the customs paperwork, checking which items cannot be shipped to which countries, and managing the international returns. If you are a new eBay lister, you will probably want to opt into that program to limit your risk as you don't know how to do your own international shipping like this seller who knows how to limit to which countries they sell.

    Hello👋🏻 first of all great video but I do have some qustions reagarding listing your item. I am new to ebay and was really hoping to start to sell stuff on the platform so I decided to sell some personal stuff before I go any further. The question that I have is how to pick wich type of shipping to use and how much would you need shipping to cost? For information I am from EU from a small country in Slovenia if that helps in any was possible😁again I am truly sorry with my lack of understanding this platform since this is probably a dumb question😅

    • @TheChaChingKing
      @TheChaChingKing  Год назад

      It is absolutely not a dumb question at all. I'll try to help, but I'm limited because I know almost nothing about shipping from any other country than the US. What I would do as far as cost is, at least until you're comfortable knowing what to charge, is use calculated shipping. Make sure you know the weight and dimensions of your item packed and ready to ship. If you enter those accurately, eBay will automatically charge the buyer enough to cover your shipping costs.

  • @barbaradean7871

Your videos have probably saved me for when I get ready to list my first item. So scared! LOL

      You have to use a shipping method that has tracking. I know eBay has some less expensive method for cards and other flat items. I am redoing all of my shipping videos to match up better with the changes. I'll try to make sure I cover this as well.
