      When she said that, I wondered well... why would God be cool with one person celebrating Halloween and not another? Why would allll these Christians have soooo many different instructions from God that contradict each other? You'd think if it was THAT important, God would send the same memo to everyone.

    I wonder if perhaps Brittany lost their fostering rights because she kept posting the babies and their parents' struggles online..? As likely as it is that requirements are more lax in TX to foster, surely they still have social media stipulations. Talking about one of the mothers dealing with drug addiction was definitely crossing an ethical boundary at best, even with censoring the baby's face..

    When I took my catechism classes last year I asked my Priest if theres any other types of religion I should "stay away from". I was worried about somehow disrespecting my new religion on even inviting things into my life on accident. He said absolutely not. You can have a witch at your dinner table. You should be welcoming to everyone, especially the people who havent yet met Jesus. So truly, I dont think dressing up my kid as a lamb and letting her eat candy is going to invite evil into her life.

    I've returned recently from a Salem trip where I visited the Satanic Temple. From what I learned there, the entire concept of the Satanic Temple was basically to poke fun at Christianity and other religions, and to use its power as a church to show the world what kind of power the churches have. This became a huge deal because the Satanic Temple stands for things that many Christians stand against. In this instance, Satan isn't actually a lord that Satanists worship, rather he is a metaphor for the Christian god.

    • @myriam6539
      @myriam6539 8 месяцев назад +1

      Hey, just wanted to clarify that the Satanic Temple (TST) is not the same as the Church of Satan which was founded by Anton LaVey! The Satanic Temple, as you mentioned, is more of an atheist social organization fighting for social causes while the Church of Satan is a religion of Satan (sort of). TST actually rejects all association to the Church of Satan. I think B was referring to the Church of Satan, not the Satanic Temple. I’m actually a member of the Satanic Temple because I believe in the battles they fight, such as abortion rights. I hope that makes sense. 😊

    • @5taceydaisy
      @5taceydaisy 8 месяцев назад

      The Satanic Temple and Church of Satan are two totally separate entities that don’t have anything to do with one another. In fact, both organizations hate being conflated with one another, though for vastly different reasons. Church of Satan was made to be adversarial and continues that way today, with the founder describing their views as “just Ayn Rands philosophy with ceremony and ritual added.” Think of them like that smarmy college kid who thinks they know everything after taking one debate class and now will argue with anyone over the tiniest things, even when they don’t even believe their own argument, but just to “debate.” Contrarian simply to be contrarian. Whereas TST describes their overall views as “a non-theistic movement aligned with Liberty Equality, and Rationalism.” We’re human rights activists.
      For The Satanic Temple, civil rights and equality for all is the core, and they are extremely active in working towards that goal. You were mostly correct, in that a huge goal is to point out how dominant Christianity is in our laws and how that excludes and harms those who aren’t Christian, as well as a way to give rights back to people in situations where religious stances are the only exemptions. But none of it is about making fun of Christianity or anything like that. TST is basically just the organization version of “everyone should be allowed to believe whatever religion they want to believe, but not allowed to force that onto others.”
      I am a member of The Satanic Temple. We have 7 core tenets:
      “1) One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason.
      2) The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.
      3) One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.
      4) The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own.
      5) Beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs.
      6) People are fallible. If one makes a mistake, one should do one's best to rectify it and resolve any harm that might have been caused.
      7) Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.”

    As someone who's been Pagan for the larger part of my life, I always get a good chuckle when Christians of Brittany's variety say stuff like this about Halloween and Paganism in general. We practically live rent free in their heads. I wonder if her head would explode if someone told her that a lot of Christian practices can technically be considered witchcraft, & that 2 of their most beloved holidays originated in Paganism (i.e. Easter & Christmas), & still have some of the customs practiced to this day(i.e. gift giving). So I guess she better stop celebrating those too bahahaha.

    • @tiryaclearsong421
      @tiryaclearsong421 8 месяцев назад

      Sadly some Christians do refuse to celebrate any holiday due to almost none of them originating from Christianity. Some of those Christians will celebrate Easter only as it is one of the few with links to the Jewish calendar as well. I feel like celebrations link communities so sitting them out all the time ends up isolating these groups from their neighbors and colleagues.

    During the "satanic panic" of the 80s and 90s, this sort of conversation dominated evangelical christian churches and church groups. Christian, and at that time touring comedian, Mike Warnke, was very popular back then because a large part of his testimony was the story of his having been a priest in the church of satan who had then been led to the Lord. In fact, there was also a man claiming a similar story in the original "Satanic Panic" miniseries from the 90s. It was later discovered that he was an actor. Just an actor. There was so much damage to individuals and families as a result of this publicized lie. The most harm I have seen done to Christians has been by other Christians and church authorities. Perhaps some sins scream out for all to hear, but my life experience has been that the truly deadly, most heinous come like a whisper in the ear.

    I guess a secondary win is that I AM celebrating Halloween. We were a staunch anti Halloween family growing up and we couldn’t even go to harvest festivals. As an adult I went to churches that believed similarly to BDong--it was all "demonic activity" this and Satan that. It made me so incredibly anxious and paranoid. After I left the church, I started to celebrate Oct 31st on purpose to "prove" to myself that nothing bad would happen to me if I did. And guess what...nothing did! No demons chasing me or god striking me down with lightning lol. Now Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! I love getting to dress up and have fun 😊

    My bio-father was anti Halloween. He said it was satanic and would get upset if he found out that we dressed up with my mom. He also forbid Disney movies at his house because "Disney has magic, and magic is of the devil."

    Hey B, I started watching your channel and at first I was so overly religious to the point where I forgot what Jesus taught his people , to love our neighbours as ourselves. A lot of the content Christians are posting are very judgemental, but u are so kind and graceful in your approach, now I would consider myself a more progressive Christian or the Christian that doesn’t shame other people for their beliefs. Your channel has helped me and I listen to you explain and speak on your interpretations about the bible, I’m not sure if your once saved always saved doctrine believer , but 🤝man I appreciate your content !! ❤

    Not a fan of performative prayer. When I see people praying in RUclips videos I always think of this Bible verse: "But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." Matt 6:6 NIV. Also, not a fan of the Satanic Panic aspect of Brittany's argument against participation in Halloween. Christians should not respond to Halloween like superstitious pagans, which is exactly what Brittany and those like her are doing. Great video!

    So We have had Halloween events days at the technical college I teach at (I teach cosmetology and it's connected to the public school system. we teach high school & post 2nd)
    I am all about dressing up and fitting the theme of the day. So my WIN FOR THE WEEK is I've had more than one HS student tell me that them seeing me for the day has been the one thing that brought joy and happiness for that day... I wore inline skates one day, they loved it. So having hs kids loving the vibe and looking forward to seeing what I did is definitely a win I'll take.. I love Halloween 👻🎃 it's my fav. I will always go all out
    I have no shame.lol

    My parents were pastors and VERY against Halloween. Growing up in the 90s I couldn’t trick or treat (or watch any shows/play with any toys containing “magic”). They gave me Frank Perreti books and told me when I was scared at night it was because there was a demon in my room and I needed to “resist him in Jesus’ name.” As a child I can tell you… this was terrifying.
    The anti-Halloween thing reminds me of purity culture. In making such a big deal about the “forbidden thing” you end up focusing on it more than you otherwise would have. Instead of a day or week per month of thinking about Halloween I thought about demons every day growing up!
    Brittany Dawn seems like a very performative person. She latches onto trends in Christian culture in order to have causes to champion (and to bring attention to herself). It’s frustrating and incredibly transparent. She says all the right phrases but just a little… wrong, somehow.
    I’m basically no contact with my parents now. They recently divorce. My mom joined a cult and gave all her possessions away. For so many reasons I’m glad I chose another path in life.
    But I love Halloween now. 😉🎃👻

    I have so many thoughts on hazel and layne - the site is up and has an updated "about us" - but it still feels really half assed. The FAQ page and customer testimonies are still templates/not done. She pushes this as a clothing brand - "our sweaters", etc - but these are mass produced items available all over the internet for much less - which, ok, get your money - but it just feels like she's trying to sell this as clothing line she's building from scratch or at a minimum like a line she helped designed, but it's not- and this bothers me for some reason - it seems inauthentic.

    I grew up in a religious household as well (Roman Catholic) and my father absolutely despised Halloween. For the longest time we appearantly spend the evenings at my grandparents house until the majority of Trick or Treaters were gone (my grandparents lived in an area where mostly old people live, so very few children going door to door there). This changed when my grandmother got really sick and I first joined in the fun when I was maybe eight years old.
    I think the reason why my father hates Halloween is mainly because it originated from a Pagan Holiday in Ireland (I believe?) and he thinks it has no buisness being celebrated by Catholics in Germany. Also, I think for this reason, I still don't really care for it. I have Fasching (Carneval) for dressing up and getting sweets / drunk.

    I’m atheist (it just never clicked for me). But, I don’t hate on people for being religious… I grew up in the church… I get why people need it. But when religion starts to be used in irrational or hateful ways… that’s where I have a problem. You handle speaking about these people well, in my opinion.

    @18:45 - Her “prayer” isn’t just performative. It’s a rhetorical tactic. She’s publicly “asking” God to give her “the words to speak.” She’s implying that what she’s about to say in the video is actually Divinely Inspired, not simply her personal opinions. This shuts down critical thinking in her followers and discourages other Christians from critiquing her statements, because it’s framed as a message to her from God.

    Is the problem the costumes or the date of Halloween? If it's the date we would see the effects of these "demonic spirits". If it's costumes then what about the other events we dress up for. Most churches perform some type of Christmas play, so are they opening demon portals in the house of God? Also she wears fake tan and gets botox so isnt she dressing up as an actual tan, plump lip white woman. I wonder would her views on Halloween change if she had kids to dress up. Also the Holy Guacamoley costume is kinda a slay.
