It’s also easy to forget that both of her parents own a business, and part of the reason she’s able to live such a privileged life and had a privileged upbringing is because of a women’s hard work…

Every time someone puts Catholicism and Christianity in the same category I want to tear my hair out. THEY ARE THE SAME. Except for different doctrinal beliefs, just as exist in Calvinism vs baptist.
Pearl would lose her godforsaken mind if she met women like me, who were raised by single moms with no paternal figures. Women like me who went on to obtain degrees (BS, MS, PhD in engineering, in my case), who did all that *before* marriage and who are happily married and in a balanced partnership.
Her mother is a succesful business woman, who Pearl lies about and derides, but she grew up in a home with two working parents. Pearl keeps talking about her father's business and how her mother really is a glorified secretary, but actually her mother is a leader of the company (I can't remember if she's also the founder) and her mother had all kinds of leadership roles and jobs in several companies/charities. Like, I'm not a fan of their politics, but I don't want to pretend she isn't somehow a working woman. Pearl knows many women who are succesful, who work hard, who have families, etc, but she alienated all of them because of the things she says online. A former friend of hers made at least one video about her.
Her saying “the Muslim religion” instead of Islam is really irking me.
I thought the same thing. Just like when she said “Catholicism or Christianity.” Catholics ARE Christian…
@@hopeard3512 I couldn't agree more. I don't understand how she could grow up Catholic and believe that Catholics aren't Christian or the idea that Catholics worship Mary. I would suggest she study world religions but I'm really not sure she would learn anything from it.

Win for the week: I've been living on financial aid, so have zero money, and i recently was offered a student assistant job that will give me a little bit of wiggle room money, and i get to do research this summer and get paid for it!!! Madison (Cruel World Happy Mind) recently did a deep dive on lil miss Pearl here and it’s…hearing about her *actual* upbringing and all the work her mom *actually* did and continues to do to this day that is the absolute antithesis of everything Pearl preaches (her mom literally stepped down from her CEO position of the company she and her husband built together so she could start an organization-and I cannot emphasize this next bit enough-specifically for building up women, helping them find community, and giving support for women who have been and/or are currently in dangerous/traumatic situations as well as staying by them while helping them find more support if they need more than the org is able to provide. Her mother literally recently founded a wholeass dedicated women-supporting-women organization and her daughter is out her doing this crap! While completely downplaying her mother’s role in the family business (even going so far as calling her a figurehead solely instated to defraud the government for more grant money on the h3 podcast….) and all of her accomplishments in life. It’s bizarre and would be more saddening than maddening if Pearl didn’t have such reach and wasn’t causing such harm.

My win for the week: my 14 year old dog who had a terrible medical scare a few weeks ago continues to improve with renewed joy for life.
My mom became a single mother after my father died active duty. Just for her and everyone else to spew hatred.

Yeah, there is so much judgement about single mothers, never single fathers, only single mothers. As if they got pregnant all by themselves, as if they can't possibly have lost their spouse. I can't help but think these people who spout that kind of hatred just lack empathy.

I just... I mean... what a wild word salad she served up! There's the hypocrisy of her "do as I say not as I do" lifestyle. There's how she seems to have picked her religious beliefs (such as they are) by basically taking some pieces of paper with options, placing them on a dart board, then closing her eyes, throwing a dart, and whatever piece of paper she hit the religious beliefs written on it without actually understanding what it is she's chosen to believe. There's how she can't seem to decide if she's Catholic or not while not understanding what Catholics actually believe. And her utterly confusing insistence on not reading the Bible because of things it says (or she thinks it says - how can she know without having read it and at least done some study of biblical hermeneutics) while claiming to understand the shared beliefs that define the core what a Christian is, and some of the differences in biblical interpretation that exist between the various denominations and why those differences matter. I'm with you - my brain hurts.

Not got that far but your description makes my head spin. If someone is going to promote their faith views then they ought to at least have a sense of what those are. I get that people can lack info on other views, but at least should know their own.
To be fair, I have talked to life-long believers who have as little or less understanding of their own sects. I see it as one of the drawbacks of brainwas^H^Hraising children from birth with the message that there is only one valid religion, the one they happen to have been born into. It is a perfectly normal and common way to experience one's religion, as far as I've observed. It's more uncommon, I think, to decide to convert to a religion without basic research or instruction, let alone "choosing" among several faiths without bothering to do actual research.
Did she attend service at a mosque or synagog even once? She says she lives in a place that is predominately Muslim - where? In the US, where the Muslim population is about one and a third percent - where? I see via Wikipedia she comes form Chicago, which definitely has a good variety of people from different cultures and religions - but even a neighborhood that consists of mostly Muslim residents would hardly constitute a place where you have little contact with others. Of course many Americans have very exaggerated estimates of how many Muslims there are in the US, and she could be one of them.
Wikipedia also tells me she was raised Catholic. What are the chances that someone raised in the US thinks it's the greatest country in the world and someone raised Catholic lands on Catholicism being the One True Way? Even after so much Thinking About other possibilities. What a surprise!
@@annburlingham4563 I was born and raised to a Christian mother who required all her children to attend church while they were under 18. However, she never pushed the faith on us. I think this gives me a fairly unique perspective. I happen to agree with you that most so-called Christians aren't actually Christians because they never actually wrestled with the faith and made the decision to call Jesus Lord. They assume they're Christians because their parents raised them that way.
I find a lot of Christian households don't encourage curiosity and exploration which stifles the ability to develop a true relationship with Christ. It's ironic considering Jesus Himself warned His believers to count the costs of following Him. He wanted potential followers to really think through their decision and make sure it was in line with their belief. I'm grateful my mother exposed me to the faith and gave me the chance to ask questions and figure out on my own if I wanted to believe. I didn't become a Christian until 34. If I have kids, I'm going to raise my kids similarly.
I'm still not sure if she's just incredibly dense and doesn't understand what she is saying, and just repeats all the bigoted talking points without a second thought, or if she is very calculating and just saying whichever hatred will get her the most money from the people who actually believe the things she says. I'm also not sure which is worse.
I feel so bad for her. It really seems to me like Pearl is doing and buying into these beliefs because of her own insecurities.
That being said, none of it is an excuse for her behavior and the terrible things she said. I hope one day she gains confidence in herself and sees herself as more than someone who has to be a wife. Being a wife can he a great thing...but that shouldn't be her only identity...

I believe it started as an act but she’s brainwashed herself into hating herself & devaluing herself for being a woman. In that regard, it’s sad but what she’s talking about publicly is dangerous!!
Loved this video! Pearl is baffling to say the least. I gasped when she said men are like God and women are inherently more like the devil. I think that goes against the core Biblical idea that we are created in God’s image.
It is very much in line with centuries of "Eve brought sin into the world" misogyny taught by many churches. The virgin-whore complex being one aspect.

I gotta take breaks sometimes bc i can't do religious content constantly but I had to click on this one quickly. Pearly Things preaches this standard that SHE HERSELF can't live up to. I really think she just hates herself, and she's admitted she has always had poor self-esteem and I don't doubt it for a SECOND. That's why she's convinced all the ladies doing stuff that she's doing are doing it to "cope" with not being desirable to a man, because SHE is doing this stuff as a "cope."

Honestly, the only reason to DNA test a newborn is to prevent babies from accidentally going home with the wrong parents. About 20k babies go home with the wrong parents. While that's a small fraction, that's 20k babies too many.

@@heavenjbyeah, there are plenty of stories. There’s actually a r/relationships post where the woman never cheated but the husband asked for a DNA test and it came back that he was not the father. After Reddit advised her to take a DNA test herself, it came back that she wasn’t the mother either.
As an 8th grader I decided that I wanted to find my religion. I went to the public library and checked out many books about religion and holy books (no internet back then). That's when I became a Jainist. Some of the kids at school teased me and said I was "gina-ist" which a vagina religion is probably not the worst thing imaginable.
It didn't stick. I was a very lazy Jainist.
What made you decide on Jainism? I'm very curious because I've never heard anyone mention that religion before your comment.

The amount of times my mouth dropped in this! Also Catholic here... We don't worship Mary. You said it perfectly that she is just an important figure as the mother of Jesus. As a mom myself, she is such a comfort of feminine strength in a world so fond of belittling women (as Pearl does so well.) We believe that Mary is living in eternal life with God and ask her to pray for us to strengthen our personal prayers- the same as when you ask your community to pray for you.
Mary and praying to saints is so often misunderstood as treating them as equal to God. Whereas (in my protestant understanding) it is about not bothering God directly, but humbly asking someone else to pray for you. Which evangelicals do all the time - viewing key preachers as those whose prayer for you is somehow better that your own prayers , or those of your family. Especially televangelists - send x amount of money as seed faith for the super preacher to pray for you (if they even do)

I don't think she really does. I followed her old best friend on tik tok a year or so ago and she was shocked that pearl was saying the things she was. Said that it wasn't like her at all and very different from the beliefs she had when they were close friends and roommates. She shared lots of pictures too.
Part of me hopes she’s trolling but I also feel like that makes everything worse if she is! Like she would know the heinous nature of the things she’s saying and yet continue to build her platform on harmful ideas she doesn’t believe in if that’s the case

Depends on the time. When Western Europe was in the dark ages (dark as in lack of records) the Islamic cultures were the centre of mathematics and sciences. When the Roman empire in Europe collapsed, much of the Greek and Roman records of science so far were lost - and it was the only in the Arab translations that much of ancient Greek studies where maintained and developed. We have Algebra because it is named (al-jabr = rejoining broken parts) by Arabic scholar Al-Khwarizmi's book (translated into Latin in 12c.) who also introduced Arabic numerals to the West.

I have a good friend who is a single mom of 3. Because HER HUSBAND LEFT AFTER SHE GAVE BIRTH TO THEIR TWINS. The girl has Down syndrome and the boy is probably autistic, and their oldest sibling is autistic.
My win for the week is that I spent the weekend at that friend’s house so my son and her oldest could play together (they are BFFs, mine is 9 and her oldest is 11; the twins are 5), and so my friend could get out and spend some time with another of her friends and her new man… who is a single dad.
WFTW: I actually cooked breakfast this morning instead of going out 😂. I struggle to cook for just myself and am trying my hardest 😂.
Edit: I think my struggle to cook at home would not sit well with Pearl lol.

Ah is she taking Catholic as separate to Christian? That is such an evangelical protestant mindset. Why is Catholic separate except for the anti catholic prejudice ?
Whilst the Catholic /Protestant divide is rooted in European religious history - and lots of laws and wars etc. These days I don't encounter 'Catholic isn't Christian' even though we may disagree on bits of theology. But on that side of the pond, it seems that the inheritance of anti catholic ideas among puritans had a big impact on the protestant culture there, despite waves of catholic based immigration.
Maybe the fact that the English reformation was tangled with royal succession has meant that we have Anglicans who are protestant but can be closer to catholic in their faith.
Weirdly I think my win was my daughter passing out at her boyfriend’s house last weekend. It resulted in an urgent care visit and two ER visits, but also got her to a cardiologist where they are testing her for POTS. It’s something we’ve suspected for a few years, but after pushing for an EDS assessment pushing for POTS assessment seemed like drs might start considering me one of those moms. So I backed off. Now she’s an adult and has a Fitbit that records her heart rate. She’s doing a great job advocating for herself. It’s an odd win.
Not at all!! My partner (a white male) has POTS and got diagnosed within, I kid you not, 20 days. Myself and my family have suspected that I have EDS and PCOS for 9 YEARS and still haven’t received a diagnosis. I get it. It’s a real win!!! It’s amazing she can advocate for herself so well!

I have decided that some of these zebra disease/disorders aren’t rare they just affect women at a higher rate and aren’t studied or diagnosed often. 😢

Then there’s the ethnicity/racial and socioeconomic disparities. White cis men are the first class citizens. I hunted out a therapist for my daughter when she was 5. I tried to talk to her dr when she 7 about her behavior. He said “you just need to be the parent “ and walked out. Took me a couple more months to find the right therapist with an opening. Turns out the behavior was ADHD with ODD. Her therapist sent her for testing with a psychiatrist. Hell, I went 46 years with autism and ADHD before being diagnosed. No medical system is perfect, but they can attempt to listen. And not tell us it’s in our heads.
Pearl said on Mother’s Day that single moms who were abandon by their husbands should not be celebrated because they’re too awful to keep a man 😑
When Pearl said that the US is the best country in the world I laughed. Your health care system is sh*t because some people can't afford to be ill, your school system costs loads of money and it's not all on your taxes which results in poor people don't have access to education (especially college and higher education), you have mostly food from other countries on your menu and not to speak of your weapon laws... and I could go on and on about everything wrong with the USA and why I would never visit. At least my country in Scandinavia lets people be ill without screwing them over financially and school (even college) here is free. Also, as a half-Indian woman, I hate that Pearl speaks about my mother's country as "dirty". Does she know what poverty is? Pearl seems so privileged it almost comes across as she's unintelligent.

I quite strongly suspect justpearlythings is insincere about 99% of what she says, her religious beliefs included. However, I'm aware that there are tiktoks out there of her saying things about how guys she would be interested in would walk up to her and ask about one of her friends or about how she felt like she was the only one of her friends without a boyfriend, or about how guys who would show interest in her would never stick around for very long, so I think definitely her self-esteem maybe isn't the highest.

Yeah, my dad cheated for twenty years. My mom became a single mother to save us and herself from his choices. Pearl has a long, disappointing future in front of her, that she has already cursed with her rhetoric. As a kind of ex catolic who was at one point VERY religoous Pearl saying "Chatolic bad because they changed a bunch of things in the 70s like women being able to be Altair servants" I can tell that she has NOT a CLUE what that includes! It's not like they say a word during Mass, sure it's usually them reading (sorry not native speaker so I have no idea what they are actually called in English) the parts of scripture that isn't the Evangelium (that can only be read by the Priest during Mass) but that is optional and doesn't give you a bigger say in the community. Anyone can volunteer to read!
Also the Chatolic Church is plenty old fashioned and resistant to change! I once told my Priest that I have doubts over religion and his comeback was: ok, but make sure that you only belive in the Christian version because that is the only one that's true...
And he was pretty young! Not even of the older generation.

Here’s what the issue is. A label. Being a believer means you have a personal relationship with God. No outside force should determine what that is. I don’t know what all the fancy labels and religions mean. What I do know is who God is, why we are here, and why I serve him.

I don't know if you're aware and thought it's irrelevant to Pearl's background or if you didn't know
Pearl comes from a privileged background, aka her parents are rich
I can see how this might not seem directly relevant to any discussion about Pearl and her stated views and maybe you deliberately didn't include this fact in your description of her background (which was masterful, by the way. I don't know how you managed to summarise the views she sprouts so clearly and succintly!)

Its kind of funny to see you exasperated before even starting. I think a lot of us feel that way at the mention of her, I know I do. At first I didn’t think she believed half of the bs she talks about (like Dave rubin or Candace owens), but after seeing a childhood friend of hers speak, I guess she does buy into all of this trad wife/red pill nonsense.
lol I came out of the gate ready to be upset 😂 I continue to go back-and-forth on whether or not I think she actually believes it. Part of me thinks that she has to otherwise there’s no way that she would be able to say things that make her look so bad publicly unless she truly believed them, but then the other half of me thinks about the way that she actually lives her life and how her friend described her just a few years ago and I’m like “this has to be a grift.”
Either she needs any kind of attention so badly she resorts to what she’s doing or she believes it. It’s not money, because her family seems to still support her lifestyle. Who knows!

The end of so many of her sentences contradicts the start of that same sentence, and my brain is walking circles and tying knots trying to follow her.

She was part of a debate on Pints with Aquinas recently. It was appalling to hear some of her opinions on marriage.
The church I went to when I was living in the Chicago area has long since had women in leadership rolls including Rector and is better for it. Just my opinion.
