    If you use being too tall as an excuse I've got an exercise for you:
    1. Raise your right hand level with your cheek and away from your body.
    2. Rapidly swing your palm towards your face.
    Do 5 sets of 10 every day until you stop making excuses.

      BaByEfrain www.powerliftingwatch.com/records/900-pound-deadlift
      From this list all but 1 of the top 10 deadlifts of all time were done by people over 6ft (the other being 5'11).
      Strong deadlifters being tall is the rule not the exception.

    • @BaByEfrain
      @BaByEfrain 8 лет назад

      Jim Giant Of course. Not sure if my network is small, but I'm not familiar with too many lifters that are ~5, 7" and 300+ lbs. I think we can both agree that the heavier you are, the more you can lift?(To a certain extent) I'm sure we can also agree that when we consider someone who is 5,7" 182 lbs and pulling in the low-mid 7s, and we compare him to a SHW who is pulling low 9's, the latter is weaker, relative speaking.

    • @JimGiant
      @JimGiant 8 лет назад +12

      BaByEfrain A 6ft guy is going to find it much harder to reach 2x bodyweight deadlift than a 5ft guy due to the square-cube rule but that's why WILKS scores exists.
      A 5'7 powerlifter at 182 is going to be far stronger than a 6ft guy the same weight (if they have the same bodyfat) but the 6ft guy shouldn't be competing at that weight anyway, he should be bulking to at least 220 and competing in that class.
      That's one of the great things about powerlifting, it's suited for people of any height.

    Fantastic video. It's really striking how humble and articulate Brian is about his strength and technique. Already amped up to deadlift with these new cues to work with!

    1080p minimum res? This is taking forever to load for me.....seems like a lot of people getting playback errors. This is most likely the reason.

    Honestly all the talking before lifting was pretty insightful and made the video better. If all I wanted to see was him lifting, I'd watch a competition video!

    That tip of having the weight behind the bar and driving through your heels, can add 20+ KG just be implementing them. Just need to keep those in mind as you get stronger, as you can forget as you continue to lift higher (Note to self XD)

    I'd like him to retire soon, because it's no good for his heart, to be that big.

    He has such a humble raw passion for the sport and loves using his journey and progress to genuinely help others. He seems to go off on tangents but really its more of a transparency thing walking anyone who wants to hear it his exact method to getting to where he did kinda like a "show your work" problem on a Math test. He does this for the sole reason of giving you the formula of how he got to where he did, so this way you can come to your own perfect stance and have the most success with your Deadlifting career giving you a game changing method of finding that perfect base to get you as far as biomechanically possible for your own personal goals. A true champion he doesnt view himself as superior or above anybody

    "If you want to know how strong someone is, ask him how much he deadlifts" well Eddie Hall deadlifted 1102 pounds and you're still stronger.. by far

    Honestly, I know the captions were jokingly rushing Brian, but he could have spent an hour talking about his deadlift form before doing an actual rep and I would have been happy.

    He talked a lot, but it really helped me. I'm just now getting into deadlifts. I'm 56 years and can squat and bench more than I can deadlift. It's because I've never done them very much and have not developed hardly any kind of form or technique. I feel stronger in a Romanian deadlift than a regular. As an experienced lifter mostly doing body building style training. It's obvious that if your already pretty strong that practice on form. Will definitely improve your lift . A person can be strong as bull. But that strength is not as usable if form and technique are not practiced

    I am 6'7" and deadlift is my favorite lift 😂 max is only around 410 right now but it's getting better. The only hard part is finding someone this tall to take tips from because most guys making these videos are not as tall 😅

    Strongest lifter in the world; smartest lifter in the world. Every single little thing has to be perfect on this lift, otherwise you are going to blow it - from head to toe, your form has got to be on, or you're going to end up dropping the bar and snapping some shit. I've learned that, and while I'm pushing MY heavy lifts, I am still trying to find new ways of standing and pivoting to get that bar up and over.
    Thanks for these videos, Super. Just found your channel and already it's showing a lot of quality content.
