    As someone from The Netherlands, I find it strange people are living so close to an ocean. We have dunes and dikes of 30 to 100 feet with even close to 200 feet dune.
    And we regularly have to extend the beach each year because we encounter storms as well.
    We never build just e few feet above seelevel before the dikes and dunes.

      Yeah, I don't know who started it this way, but that's the way they're doing it in.They're going to put that beach sand back, and it should be just fine. On Fort Myers Beach, if you look at those sea walls, there's nothing wrong with that beach being at that level, I think it's fine. I think it'll actually be it'd be better for us, so if there's not a crazy storm coming through, it'll talk back the the surge

    Those houses may look fine but anything on ground level gets wet and the sand is everywhere. Because the beach shrank they are now subject to surge and more issues even in a strong westerly wind. Does this eventually affect the integrity of the house because salt water is a strong corrosive force?

    • @removeitprosdemolition
      @removeitprosdemolition  3 месяца назад +2

      I don't think they'll have to deal with the tide. The elevation there changes significantly. You can't leave from the ocean. It's very deep there compared to Fort Myers Beach. It's about 10 foot, deep, very close to the shore. In this area on Fort Myers Beach, you can walk out. It's sometimes 200 feet and still be just in waiting up. Waist high water.

      I honestly don't know about the refurbishing. I do know at the very end of this strand of beach. They've had problems with the sand shifting over and closing out the inlet, and I know they've done work on that.I just don't know if they've done work on the whole beach or not.

    • @mitchellwintercat
      @mitchellwintercat 3 месяца назад +1

      You know I was just wondering about that. St Andrew's Island has been in the midst of "refurbishment," starting approx 10 yrs back. The inlet was being dug out and supposedly dunes restored while deepening waterway. When Michael came through, the beaches were decimated. The once long wide slight slope to the water is now a cliff leaving about 10 ft of beach in low tide. I'm just a frequent tourist for 40 yrs, but the drastic topography changes seem only since these "refurbishment," projects started.

    Over 50% of Florida's 845 mile coast line was categorized as being in a state of "critical erosion" BEFORE Helene and Milton, which scoured the entire Gulf coast. Over the five year period of 2019-2024, the State of Florida was slated to spend over $500 million on beach re-nourishment projects. At what point do the taxpayers start bulking at spending enormous and rapidly growing amounts of money to move sand? At what point does the increasing rate of erosion out pace the capabilities of the State of Florida and the Army Corp of Engineers?

I say again *"need a Shearwater"* #shearwater_boats *NOT* a breakwater as they actually build everywhere as water has to literally be sheared apart in order to "break" the bind is that strong and yes there is a difference. As for putting homes where they should be having public access let alone no building in the first instance as these are "barrier islands" well nothing says human like they love an engineering challenge but yes if you look at a European Medieval Castle with a moat around it that is a shearwater but of course designed to make the Sea of Humanity go around that but yes in my view anyways having the water pass through is exactly the wrong answer if looked at strictly from an engineering point of view. "Forcing the water to go up" will push it back out into the Ocean but of course everyone has to have road too soooooo...😊😊
