260 WHP All Motor 2014 Honda Civic Si - One Take

- I don't think people will appreciate this car the way that I do. The Civic Si is a light-feeling car with great inputs, soild construction, and a linear powerband, if not very powerful. But by mating the higher-revving "K20" head with the larger displacement "K24" engine block, you can have a 260 WHP, all-motor screamer that will just fly down the road and create smiles for miles. This one is set up brilliantly.
Check out the build on Wheelwell!

first honda guy on a one take to quote a realistic weight figure...
29,000 pounds haha
Jimmy M I loled hard
***** oh yeah, that too. kinda missed that in this vid, maybe cause he didn't claim some astronomical number, haha
Bro, my 2010 civic si sedan weighs 2000 pounds with the seats and spare tire out
Devin Stambolziovski no it doesn't
Honda should market this engine as a worldwide crate motor.
the failure of the import and scene and success of the domestic scene is the "crate motor". imports just dont have crate motors. not sure its its a patent/legal thing or if no one has thought about such an industry, but again, crate motor and import just arent used in the same sentence. import people are just stuck with buying a low mile motor from japan or rebuilding one themselves.
15FG4SI damn with 10000 you can get a turbo kit and build it from top to bottom making over 500 whp. that's if you install everything yourself but everyone has different goals either all motor or force induction
digimon916 not yet at least. Maybe import crate motors will get more popular when motors from Japan and junked cars start to dry up.
This kid did his homework.
All motor is where it's at, beautiful build! Sounded great too
Your QR can make nearly 220whp with barely any mods and a tune. 300whp with 8psi turbo.
I've seen the dynos. It's not a bad return on investment considering how cheap Sentras are. The first gen had issues, though.
XenomorphLV426 I hope to hit 220 when I get a tune in the spring. So far I'm running a header/down pipe, CAI, light weight pulleys, and borla exhaust.
Ruben theIowan yeah, all motor all day
Sounded effen awesome. I'm a v8 guy and I tell ya, that sum bitch sounded just fuckn great. Great build and car.
The coolest part about watching these is Matt is so humble he's driven just about everything possible 800+hp cars and yet he still enjoys lower hp cars and basically any kind of car that's different and I love watching him drive lambos but I much rather watch him drive something lots of people can afford
Typically I dont like Hondas but this one is very impressive. Gotta respect a good build when you see one.
Lucien Gauvin True, and Matt was wrong about the carbon fiber hood. It's a performance upgrade.
I was thinking the same thing, nice build.
Lucien Gauvin I was thinking the same thing :)
Lucien Gauvin now I'm inspired to trade my car in for a fast one
if they're not slammed, riced out, or have obnoxious exhaust they are the perfect daily when they are tuned like this.
This is some good shit! I haven't watched a one take and thought "Maaan, I want to get behind the wheel of that!" in a long time.
Nice car George!
Just in case you're reading this George, if you have any more videos on youtube about your cars make sure to link them, I want to see more of it and I'm sure I'm not the only one
Basically, with this swap you built the motor that Honda should have included in this car out the box. As an owner of a 2013 Si sedan, the stock k24z7 is a perfectly fine motor but it's an oddball with many specific/unique parts and the weird head and weird ivtec. This motor swap literally makes the 9th gen what it should have been and I am jealous. Nice car dude.
"this head swap" at least the one in this video is not just a head swap on the stock k24z7 block. I am only aware of one person who did a k20 vtec head swap onto a K24z7 block and it required basically all new internals and custom machine work etc etc. I think the stock motor is perfectly acceptable for daily use and fun in general, do a flashpro and a few mods and you will get an entirely new animal however nothing short of swapping the entire motor for this hybrid setup will yield you what this guy has.
It's literally just a headswap dude. It's the same block in the TSX. The bottom end is all OEM.
Joe11Blue the k24a and the k24z blocks are not the same. The head swap on a k24z is not cut and dry like it is on the tsx k24a. Neither The block or head in this guy's car is the oem 9th gen civic block or head. Show me an example where you can directly bold on an a3 head to a z7 block. I'd love to see it.
photobrian925 I never said anything about an a3 head on a z7 block. He has the z3 head. The z3 head does bolt right onto the z7 block.
***** Sure.
this is the most legit late gen civic build I've seen. love how he didn't just swap the head and call it a day! I'm sure those gear ratio changes had a lot to do with the feel of the car. And the dude was super modest which is always nice to see. great video!
The gearing he put in this car is literally responsible for like 1/2 of the way it runs and feels. People have no idea what some proper gearing can do to a car. It’s one of the most overlooked things, but can make the most significant difference.
As an old Honda guy who's been out of the game for a WHILE, it's real cool to see that the "LS-Vtec" is still a thing!
Yep basically same thing but way better with the K series ive wanted this setup since k24s came out with a rsx type S or R head
This has to be one of my favorite one takes. The pure excitement that Matt has about the car, plus the fluidity of conversation makes for a very enjoyable video.
This guy George is awesome. Very knowledgeable about his car , but doesn't spew info unless asked. Very chill, and you can tell he enjoyed the experience.
This one was especially fun to watch! I used to have an si way back, nothing beats the smiles per gallon on a nicely tuned civic.
These are my favourite type of One Takes, guys with a real car passion and putting what they can into a car they love and ending up with someone really awesome like this. Anyone can have an 1100hp GTR or a cool M3, this is the type of videos l absolutely love
Earth is flat, Matt is fa..ctually an experienced car reviewer.
i love when the owners are cool. ive watched a few one takes where the owner wasnt friendly or engaging
Lot's of 9th gen civics lately, loving it.
This should be shared to everyone who hates on Hondas. Seeing Matt, who has driven every type of car, crack a huge grin while driving a fwd Honda should be enough to get them to realize Hondas can be fun. We need a "won't you help" style video to stop the hate.
Carguments your being too specific fwd can be fun....
Carguments Hondas are the best!
Naw, I simply don't care.
Probably the best sounding Civic I have ever heard. Usually they have so much intake noise that its borderline obnoxious. This is perfect! And it shows you don't need some stupid intake to make real power. Great Car. This car shows the potential Civic's have if you have taste.
I think this is the first civic ive seen that I would actually drive..clean build
Great setup. Clean civic and authentic review from matt. Because matt is honest with all his reviews they are a joy when he finds a great combonation such as this and his true passion for cars comes out. Way to go TST!
love the wail the engine makes shifting into 4th. nice builds. surprised everyone is surprised ....too many people living in fantasy hater land and not getting out into the real world where quality builds like this are everywhere.
This guy combined what's good about the 8th and 9th gen Si's, amazing, best of both worlds!
This is why i love your channel and its what brought you so many subscribers - you are genuinely happy for other people and make them feel good. Real honest. Real reviews. Thank you.
I'm like a bunch of people, I don't care much for the looks of the newer Si's, but this one looks aggressive as hell in red with dark wheels and a carbon hood. And that particular stance it has is perfect for it. Seriously nice build.
from a GTI owner this car is amazing . good shit George! beautiful and amazing car
from a gti owner toa civic si owner - GTIs are crap so are 2.Slow Turbo crap that came in them. 500 hp with turbo max is about all those engine can handle....
Lee Williams Lol, shut up bud
Well done George! I love my Golf R but your Si just looks so fun to drive. A pleasure to see you and Matt grinning ear to ear.
Damn now that's exactly how I should build my civic for the track! huge props to the owner for knowing exactly what he is doing to the car!
Damn! I wish getting K20/24 parts in brazil were as easy as in US :/
Awesome car, that engine sound!
Best built 9th gen Honda civic I've seen
You can tell the owner really love his car. That's the way it's suppose to be. Cool build.
Wow nice build, well done. Still would never have one myself in a million years, but that is just me. Good on the owner for not going too ricey and sticking with go fast bits. Great vid as always Matt.
Beautiful setup. Goes to show that blowers and turbos isn't the only way. 260whp out of a pretty stock mating of K20 heads and K24 block is pretty damn amazing. NA power isn't dead yet!
K series are awesome!
That is an awesome car! Glad you had him out Matt. One of my favorite one takes in awhile.
Awesome set up! Love the sound of this car. Thanks for bringing this one to us Matt! 34 MPG! very cool!
That is a FUN civic.
Marcus Slater Everyone wants to race you when you're driving a modded Civic. It's impressive when a small engine beats a big engine in a race. Other way around not so much.
Stas G. its usually the other way around. everyone in a civic wants to race everyone else
mike23386 both
Great video Matt! Still would love to see the footwell cam on manual cars, but I can understand if the effort isn't worth the reward lol. Have a great day and I'm looking forward to the next one! Now back to marathoning the TST Podcast!
Christopher Cook footwell cam requires a non-reusable GoPro mount. They are $20 each. I could go through $100 in mounts every time I went to shoot
TheSmokingTire wow! That's crazy well still love the content anyway. Also may I ask what your opinion on a 20yr old getting an 08 Z06 is. I've become more financially stable and I'm loving the amount of car you get for the money with the Z.
Wow, what kind of mount is non-reusable? I want to see that.
As a fellow 20 year old who had a WS6 (not the same thing, believe me i know) it WILL end up being too much car for you unless you have experience with cars like that. A C5 may be a better way to go.
Sebastian McCabe The only experience i have with cars of that nature are my moms cars. she's let me drive her'16 Camaro SS, her '10 Camaro SS, and her '06 Cadillac XLR. while none of those are corvette level, i feel i handled them pretty well. i will def be taking like driving school for the track, so that'll help.
Love my SI, will never sell! (till my motor blows up) Sounds really nice. This is a an amazing daily setup.
Great episode. Gotta love that top end
05:06 Even if you are a Honda hater you just have to admit, those engines just sound glorious!
sometimes I feel Matt takes it easy on owners. you can tell by the smile he actually enjoyed this
This is EXACTLY how I dream a well-built N/A Civic should be! WELL DONE, SIR!
Just hearing it go through gears is enough to tell me it's a fun car. Definitely doing this setup if I decide to buy a Civic one day. Well done George!
The engine would see ~ 15-20 whp increase with cams and a loud 3 inch exhaust lol but it's understandable that he keeps the car "civilized." It's probably his daily.
XxChuyoxX yeah ok 275whp with stock pistons lolll my friends all put down 280+ but never stock with cams lol fully ported cnc heads, stroked and high compression....even this guy is full of shit with his 260whp
"civic-lized"
Vega-Expert
You can break 280 with a higher compression, full bolt ons, and e85 on a k20/k24. I'd imagine you're talking pump 91/93.
XxChuyoxX Plus if you swap that engine in a 1992 Civic Hatchback VX you will see insane weight reduction of ballpark 1000 pounds.
There are no aftermarket cams for the 9th generation civics.
Someone needs to make a meme of that dudes face when Matt hits vtec lol
He is loving someone loving his car, good for him!
5:10 seconds
what I like most about this car is the sound, not too over the top, nice job :)
Been waiting for this video to come out. Glad you liked the car and gave it an phenominal review. Honda modifications at its finest for sure.
this makes me want a civic. over 300 hp in na 4 banger.
Performance, reliability, good gas mileage, cheap. Pretty good choice
I seriously doubt this modded engine is going to be reliable. But yes stock Honda's are very reliable, especially when driven conservatively.
Jeff K
Still more reliable than a Ford. Also this engine is modified by all orignal honda parts, The K20 head is Stock.
Jeff K you can beat the shit out of Honda motors and no break a sweat. Like the guy said, it's all about the tune.
tell that to the 24hours of lemons crew, and jalopnik crew.
They're notorious under endurance racing for scattering head gaskets to the wind.
but for street builds I highly agree with you. :)
I bet that thing rips. Plus, it's N/A and (relatively) stock-ish, so I imagine that the reliability factor is better. Not a bad way to go.
Best one take to date! Beautiful build!
I'm not a Honda guy, but this car is well built, and well thought out. Great Video!
Who needs more than 260 WHP
falagarius
300ishWHP on a miata is a dream come true. You can walk a new M3 with that.
People who want to go fast
You should clarify, for FWD vehicles
me....... and any one that wants to go fast........
nobody needs it. it is very fun though
To the owner of Honda: if you're still looking for a tuner and can make the drive to Wilmington, check out Church Automotive. Every time I take my WRX they have race purpose built hondas there. They seem very popular for their tunes.
I tune my E30 turbo there. Agree with what you say - Shawn is great.
The guy he mentioned is a pretty respectable tuner. I've been running on his tune now for over a year trouble free (E-tune as well). I have heard good things about Church's though!
Zcypot lol no
Zcypot hello....Wilmington in what state? Thx
The Si's handle beautifully and it really shows in this video! Thanks for sharing
Beautiful car, awesome owner and once again great video Matt!
260 whp is just enough for an everyday car
I appreciate these cars for what they are, and I'm sure they're a blast in the canyons. My issue is it's always these cars that come and try to race me on the highway when I'm in my boosted Mustang..
haha doesnt end well for them. I literally found this video while i was watching a mustang smash into a civic.
The Borkinator You telling me you have a boosted Mustang and you aren't down for a race?
JD B Maybe when it would be worth by time.
The Borkinator Ohhh so a car has to be deemed worthy of racing the almighty boosted Mustang lol.
ironically this is the same "honda" attitude was referring to. It's guys like this that rev at you at a traffic light.
Finally!!!! Well done!!!! K20 head with k24 block done well🙌
Very good set-up, si- man!!
"I just want to keep it low key" - said the guy with a 260WHP NA civic.....
Read: "I don't want to get lots of speeding tickets"
well this finally settled my dilema on buying one of these
This is the epitome of what Honda guys love. What a car.
I had a 94 Civic Si with a H22. That things was fun. Nothing beats the sound of VTEC when it kicks in!
Matt, you gotta do a bolt on 8th gen si. I wanna know your opinion of that compared to a 9th gen, Wish I submit mine but I live on the east coast
He's got more than one hundred grand under the hood of that car..
Johnny Tran?
100k can buy you a better car. if you want best bang for your buck just buy a high end car, if you have 100k lay around in your house and like to build cats then do it. but still 100k spend on a civic which I will never do. my 05 kawasaki ninja zx10r cost me 6k with the same performance as 2015 c7 corvette z06, so I'm a guy like best bang for your buck, and spent my money wisely
***** I was just saying a quote of sarcasm but thanks for the advice I'll tell Jessy that...
He was quoting The Fast and the Furious, bro.
Kawaii Ninja please go re watch your childhood.
Finally k24/20 frankstain motor .Giving the people what they want is what makes you great keep up the good work.
Love it man. Congrats to the owner for a great build!
don't really like the looks of the newer Civics. but this one is cool. and it sounds brilliant.
All the Honda haters gone hate just because it makes 260 HP. Just wait till the Type R comes.
Saul Armijo with a turbo. Not hating cause I want one myself but Honda should stick to naturally aspirated.
+dAbaPEsTA123 Honda knows what's up, they've been building N/A and turbo race engines for a long time. There is Indycar & they powered both Williams and McLaren to Formula 1 World Constructors Championships in 1986, 1987, 1988 (all outrageous horsepower turbo years), and 1989, 1990, and 1991 with v10's and v12's. The B series, C30A (NSX), K-series, F20, these engines were designed by arguably the best automotive internal combustion engine manufacturer in the world at the time. It still shows up today with 300-400 hp N/A & 1,000 hp turbo civics and crx swaps and S2000's all over the place lol really impressive tbh

Saul Armijo Another toy to play with. And by play with, I mean eat for breakfast.
People don't hate hondas really they hate honda owners. This guy fortunately is not the average honda owner. His car isn't stanced with holes in the bumper and he's not some vaping cholo.
Damn...Well done build. I miss that beautiful sound of the K series.
Amazing build on that Si, great work man!
260 to the wheels all motor... pretty impressive for a honda
Would be even more impressive with any other 2.4 n/a motor.
I don't care, it's not my car.
Ogstevie ok lol.
I colbolt SS gets 280 the wheels stock
yeah, but a cobalt ss is either supercharged or turbocharged, not naturally aspirated.
So it's a K20 head on a K24 block, both completely stock making 260 hp?
a little late but its most likely FBO as well
Just bought a 2015 SI, picking it up this coming Monday. So excited man, was thinking about doing a top end swap myself, but I’m gonna wait until I’m out of warranty. Love your car man, looks like a great build.
Nice car, guys! I've been looking at this generation of Si pretty closely, and this is the closest thing that I've seen to my own plan for a daily driver. Well done, George and Matt!
I just realized that I've never driven a Civic. 0_o Time I change that...
No, no it isn't.
Silus Jackson Civics are the best FWD cars in the world...
Yes it is, they are excellent drivers cars.
Stas G. Civics are what keep McDonalds carparks active at night.
Silus Jackson that's where you were conceived.
With Matt in it, it weighs 29,000 lbs. Jk don't hate me Matt.
A well put together package, respect!
Not a Honda or JDM guy usually but this car is sweet. This kid did his research and put together a killer build. Respect where respect is due my friend.
matt where did you do your undergrad and what major?
Barath V university of Pennsylvania. I have a BFA in photography
Hey Matt, wouldn't it be cool if you would travel to other countries (like Japan 😳) and do One Take's with several other people. Just to capture different kind of car cultures
He has. Check him out on /DRIVE one. He goes to south America to drive a 1000hp R34 GTR in one of the vids. Shits lit.
DailyDabber Oh ok, thanks mate
I thought that was New Zealand and Australia...
Joe11Blue my bad if it was I haven't watched the video in months now. Either way it's still Matt going international.
DailyDabber It's all good. :-)
Matt keep showing love to Hondas man loving the videos keep up the good work
Really clean build man
Matt I know u don't take requests but u gotta find a crx with a b18 and a manual rack
Fuck yeah. It's been 10 years since I had a CRX and I still miss it. B18's were fetching silly money back then so I never did the swap.
you just described my car!
I own a ef hatch the b18 and manual rack :)
john avdellis I own integra Type r very fun car just hate getting pulled over all the time. lol
i got a turbo crx!!
Too soon Junior! hahahaha
I love this channel so much a page for true car enthusiasts
That Civic sounds awesome. Very robust exhaust note!
if he adds a decent sized turbo this car will be a beast street car
it will fry the tyres at every corner exit...
and rebuilds the motor lol
Kern O'Leary I wouldn't want the guy to ruin his car just a small turbo to get him in the power band faster something like 10psi lol
I guess you didn't watch the vid, his original setup was turbo and he went back to n/a
10psi on a high compression motor is alot of fuckin boost brotha especially with this "decent sized turbo" you speak of
The K20Z3 is such an underrated motor man. Redlines at 8300, blips at 8500
And if you go full bolt-ons you can possibly get 300 ALL MOTOR
like holy shit
K20 aint making 300 all motor w just full bolt ons lmao. More like 220whp (~245 crank)
Ported head with big cams with a k24 bottom end on E will make 280-320 wheel and on M5 fuel it’ll make close to 350 wheel lol
Nice video man, love seeing different things on this channel.
Brilliant build. Well done George.
vtec is best.
Nice try buddy!!
lmao
0to60videos all motor is best.
vtec is all motor.
Errathetube that's what I'm saying . VTEC got copied by everyone. Like Toyota Dual VVTi
BMW guys do the same with the 2.7 ETA bottom end and the 325i head. That's 1980's engines tho.
so? You can do such things with a lot of even older engines from hell do I know companys.
99Lezard99 I was making a statement. What part of that don't you understand?
Anders Kristensen and i can answer when ever i want. If you dont want anyones reaction then dont make a statement dude.
99Lezard99 Yeah you do that.
....yes....
Wow, great methodically thought out built from start to finish.
Nice build, sounds and looks good. Seems like a lot of fun. Good job on the car.
What does all motor mean?
Normally aspirated (no turbo/supercharger).
It means the engine is modified, but still naturally aspirated (i.e. no turbo or supercharger).
there is motor mods but not forced induction
N/A
all throttle no bottle.
Two things that are making me very happy about this video. 1. The owner is Asian, because this car just fits him being Asian lol and 2. The owners Asian smile when his car is pushed. Just like an Asian tourist visiting Disneyland lol!!
This has to be one of the best one takes. Unique purposeful build, granted I'm not familiar with Hondas, with a knowledgeable owner.
I have a "bluetop" motor in my Prelude and the power and characteristics remind me of this car so much I had a stupid grin on my face the whole time. Great build, man!
