What’s up, nice work btw Raiti. I own an 8th gen 2006 Honda Civic Si sedan in Galaxy Grey metallic. I still drive it as my daily driver and as of 3-23-2019, he has 227,908 miles! Original engine, transmission, never have had any problems besides regular maintenance. Never once has any dashboard warning light come on, with the exception of the TPMS light which came on a total of 4 times in the light winters here in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. VTEC still kicks at about 5,800 rpm until redline all while just as silent at idle from the day I bought him. If you follow the Honda manual maintenance minder system and do all the maintenance when told on the dashboard, these cars will run forever. Just to throw this in too, I’ve done almost 228k miles in 13 years and I have never used synthetic oil and my oil is changed between 7k-8k miles. To this day, the dealer always uses conventional 5w30 oil for $24.95+tax/disposal. Every few months, I get coupons for $19.95. The manual says you can use it, but they don’t require nor recommend it.
I think the 2012-2013 2 door Si front end looks the best. Simple clean yet very sharp especially with HFP trim (or lowered springs and front bumper spoiler).
With a proper turbo or supercharger kit, these 9th gen k24 motors can easily make 300hp on stock internals. I still recommend rebuilding the engine with forged internals just to be on the safe side. I believe kraftwerk still make supercharged kits for these engines, but u will need to upgrade the clutch.

What has fascinated me Joe, right from the start with your channel is that you review cars that I would never give a second look at. Great review. First time I see you on RUclips Honda SI is my dream car . Hope to own one one day. I am not old, 54 years young. But still love these SI models. I drove one once or twice and fell in love. Thanks.
Thank you so much for finding the channel! I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment! You can make it happen and I believe age is a state of mind!
Frank I bought a ‘14 at 55 years and after five years I still love it. I paid 22,700 which is pretty inexpensive for cars these days. Do it if you can you won’t regret it. I saving up for exhaust and a Hondata tune to make it even quicker and more fun. Mine tops out at 134mph uphill downhill flat it doesn’t matter. At that speed it drives very smooth.
Sergio Aguirre Sergio Aguirre I don’t think you read my post which was purely opinion based. There literally is no debate to be had. You like the Mugen R that’s cool. I don’t like it. Those aren’t for sale at the dealership either. I like the si from 2015. Hope that is okay with you............
Sergio Aguirre if your not able to figure out that it was my opinion that’s you showing your own stupidity. What do you think I’m running pie charts and graphs showing that this Honda is “better looking”? That’s just plain stupidity my brother. I’m glad you like the mugen one. That’s fine. Now fade away.
I own a 2016 LX Coupe in Silver with Manual Transmission! I love that car! Never had any problems with it! Shifts crisp! My trade in will be an SI Coupe very soon! I want to put cold Air Intake in mine now! Love your videos man! Love Honda! Good job! 👍
Great review of 9th gen si raiti! I Also have s 2015 4 door si with a kraftwerks supercharger with 290hp at the wheels and I absolutely love it! It's a perfect daily driver for me. Ps: I still manage to average 26mpg even with the supercharger as long as I stay out of boost.
That's my car. Same color as well. VTEC power. Might not have the power of other cars and might be a bit slower then the new 1.5, but the new one isn't as fun as the 9th gen. VTEC kicks in and it's a blast.
I had a Dyna Blue Pearl 2015 Si. I sincerely miss that car. It was like driving Mario Kart in real life. Point and shoot. It would do virtually EVERYTHING you wanted it to do. It looked cool and was comfortable.
glad you've enjoyed the S & I agree I like the plasty dip job except wouldn't look good on the gray Si. Unfortunatly, I'm sadly selling my 15' Si in gray. If you know anybody in tai-state area looking for one feel free to comment. has 119k miles now. Clean & stock.
really nice car - I had the 9th Gen that really came out in 2012 - went to the 2018 10th Gen Model with the 1.5T and was not a Fan - so went back to the K24 NA engine and by then the only way I could get it was with an Acura ILX with NO Manual anymore but the DCT works really fine...still wish it had the Manual tho
I have a 2013 EX Coupe and I call her my little Xwing. First time I sat in her I said I feel like I'm in an Xing. The bodystyle and the dashboard layout are what really sold me on her. I Love that your student has Stormtrooper on his. That makes it all the more awesome. It breaks my heart 💔 that Honda isn't making the new generation in at 2 door coupe hatchback. I always thought if the last generation Civic Coupe was a hatchback it would have sold better. Oh well 😔, thanks for the video 📹 and I think you do a FANTASTIC job.
RR nailed it in this review. It's all about the driving experience and the 2.4 i-vtec 6-speed is music to my ears when ripping thru the gears on a long winding country road on a beautiful Sunday morning. You can keep your 1.5T scooting around town from stop light to stop light. I would rather DRIVE Tujunga Canyon Road on this Si.
I love canyon runs with my 2011 8th gen. The revs sound so damn good. But just an fyi, the 1.5t 10th gens have adaptive suspension that our 8th and 9th gens don't. My buddy's 10th gen wrecks me around corners lol
Absolutely love both the exterior and interior look of this older model, much more than the last gen. Just one correction; the sentence "if you don't know how to drive a manual, you're not going to be driving this car" should be "if you don't know how to drive a manual, learn it and try this car". :) I like minor things as well: the speed display is so far ahead, it doesn't need these new fancy windshield projected displays, the asymmetric wipers look kind of cool, rear spoiler looks "just right".
I wouldn’t say the si has more potential. Unless you’re going for really high hp numbers. It was worth it to me because mine is stock. The overall driving experience is night and day compared to the si. The type r takes turns like a beast. I did like the build quality of the si’s interior. The buttons on the 10th gen feel cheap. Cabin has mysterious rattles. Other than that it’s great
When he was talking about not worrying about horsepower and 0-60 and just enjoying the drive I felt that in my heart. Nothing wrong with having a SI and just enjoy driving regular.
Always loved the SI’s. Great review Joe! Always glad to see an appreciation for these types of vehicles. I drive a brz and it’s true that you can have fun with only 200 horsepower!
The 9th gen is the last true Vtec it's that simple since the 10th is just a turbo. Take the k24 and switch the cam off the k20 and u got the best of both worlds. The 8k rev the power and the torque of 9th gen all natural aspirated 2.4L.
This a great review. Not the best platform versus the 86, but it's good enough to do some extra things because of the after market support. I currently own a 2014 with 166k miles and i have yet to ever run into any issues. Everything in the car is perfect terms of daily driving, the stock sound system is clean and loud, and comfortable for long distance drives. Plus i get compliments for my ride from alot of people even tho mine is stock.
Awesome review!! I had a 2009 Civic Si Sedan(black) with only 78K miles on it. Got rear ended in February and it was totaled. I'm still doing PT as a result ugh. :-( So tomorrow I'm buying a 2015 Civic Si coupe with 49K and clean car fax. Had Honda mechanic inspect and it's in excellent shape! Test drove it twice. Love it. Same white color as the one you reviewed. Picking it up at lunch tomorrow. I'm hooked on the VTech Si's. The 2 tier dash is the best layout ever(reason why I won't buy a 2017-2019 Si). Can't wait to pick up my Si tomorrow. Your review really convinced me to get this series next. Love the body style of the coupe! ;-)
Of course you can. Just turbo it. Forget about waiting for VTEC to kick in, yo.... 0.25 seconds and the turbo is spooled and the engine is pulling at 1800 RPM in any gear. I pull out to pass cars going uphill in 6th gear.
I love this Honda civic SI expecially the design of exterior and the interior and most of all the exterior colour white colour is my best favorite colour u doing the great job
I like this generation and all but I love the 8300 rev limit in my rsx-s. It's not all that fast but it's so much fun revving like that, I think honda really made the k24 less fun with less revs even with more power. Its not all about power
I went from a 05 rsx S , to one of these 2014 civic si coupe , tbh I do miss the rsx S but I like the si way better , especially being a dad I have a middle back seat , I don’t have to rev that k20 all the way about 5k rpm to get a decent speed , and the interior is way more comfortable and way more tech , to me it feels like a refined rsx , to rev it like the type s can be done with a oil pump swap , and head swap
I always dreamed of a Civic SI when I was a teenager. Last year I had some money saved and my car was starting to give me more troubles than I could handle, I didn't want to get in debt for 5-6 years at a dealership so I decided to buy a Civic SI cash but the only one I could afford was a salvage one. I did my research and made sure there was no front damage, so far only put new tires a few oil changes and change the thermostat, very minimum spending after initial purchased. But I don't feel is that fast, I seen a couple reviews and the engine just doesn't sound or feel like the videos.
Maybe show the car some love relace everything you think may need a little touch. Then start with small mods. Intakes etc. Then when you are done building tune it.
I’m glad I subscribed to this channel my goodness this man is working all the time uploading very nice videos with a very nice attitude and a lot of knowledge about cars be safe out there my friend 👍 greetings from Miami 💪
Joe, I would say the 2011 is the last TRUE Si as it has VTEC profiles on both intake and exhaust cams plus the 8k redline. Would love to see you review an 8th gen. Come to West Palm and you can review mine 😃
13-15' years look so much better than my 12' Si. I cheaped out and got a 12' for cheap that doesn't burn oil. Still like it better than my 8th gen Si after 2 years.
I really like what he did with the car - too many people give the Si's #Stancelife and ruin a perfectly beautiful car. Adding the black on the grille was a great idea, very similar what I did to my 10th gen white sedan - Black and white is a great color scheme, not to flashy and just clean enough! My Si is the STRMTRPR as well!
I bought a 2012 sedan si and i absolutely love it. Like you said it shifts like butter, amazing and fun car to drive. Mines tuned on hondata flashpro, with a skunk 2 cai and downpipe with a full borla exhaust🤩
Matt Anderson great car. I also have a 2012 SI. Love it. I was looking to do up the car. If you don’t mind me asking how much power did you make with the parts and tune?
Another spot on review nothing like the sound of a all motor engine b-series or k-series or nissans QR25 Or GM’s ecotec fords zetec Toyota’s 2zz to name a few manufacturers have given up on intriguing vehicles and Honda was the last hold out.
I bought one like that at 67,000 kilometers. I am only done 20,000 kilometers before someone comes to demolish it (total loss). I am now with a civic SI 2020 and what I miss the most is the connection with the car and the noise of Vtech. For what honda did not make a 1.5 vtech turbo. We don't buy a sports car for the fuel economy!
I was so sure I was gonna end up with one of these. Took a brand new 2015 for a test drive. It was the car I was dreaming about for a decade. I was finally going to own a BRAND NEW CIVIC SI!!! Annddd.....it was so slow!! It was too late. I had been spoiled by American TORQUE in a previous vehicle I owned! I bought something else..... Oh well! At least the new one with the turbo has torque...
Vtec is truly a game changer. Honda's vtec cars are one of the fastest naturally aspirated cars. 9th gen civic si was infact the last civic si with vtec.
I scored it. It’s nice. Nice handling from city driving to 140km on the highway. I can feel a difference between 91 and 93 so I run 93. I thought it would be faster but it’s not that far off from what I expected. However the gas mileage is way worse than what I originally thought. As long as it’s not as horrible on gas as my 2000 xj is I’ll be saving money and has ahaha
I wont trade or give my 9th up for anything in the world at this moment i love it. .its my 2nd one had a 13 fb6 i crashed and now i got my 12 fg4. Shes at 140k and running better then when i first brought her home.

This is the most beautiful/aggressive looking civic Honda ever produced.
I am so glad that you liked this one!
Sergio Aguirre aesthetically, it’s not better by a LONG SHOT my brother.
Raiti's Rides liked??? LOVED! Thank you for taking your time to review this car and post this video bro! Subbed.
The FB6 Sedan is still my favorite honda
I think many people would agree with you!
I own a 2016 LX Coupe in Silver with Manual Transmission! I love that car! Never had any problems with it! Shifts crisp! My trade in will be an SI Coupe very soon! I want to put cold Air Intake in mine now! Love your videos man! Love Honda! Good job! 👍
Thank you for sharing your input and perspective! I appreciate you watching!
Its even sexier with the HFP spoiler kit! It runs better with the AC off too
Yes sir! It definetly does! Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much! I would love to review your Si is has to be a blast! Thank you for taking the time to comment!
Marty I’m thinking about getting one 😅
I own a FA5 and after my car is done, I want to buy a 2015 Civic Si Sedan. I love Honda’s ❤️
That is so cool! I think you will really like it! What color would you want?
I would want White or Black. The Sedan will be the only 9th Gen I would purchase
I think white is totally perfect!
I've owned a ton of cars (50 years old) and my 2015 Si sedan is my favorite of all time. Perfectly balanced machine.
Jordan Kim I have one with 48000 miles on it
New to your channel thanks for the high quality and professional review. Love the 2015 civic si you can’t go wrong with it.
Thanks for joining the Raiti's Rides family! I really appreciate your support!
That's my car. Same color as well. VTEC power. Might not have the power of other cars and might be a bit slower then the new 1.5, but the new one isn't as fun as the 9th gen. VTEC kicks in and it's a blast.
That is so cool that this is your exact car! It was a blast to drive!
I say this all the time. It’s just like a go cart haha
really nice car - I had the 9th Gen that really came out in 2012 - went to the 2018 10th Gen Model with the 1.5T and was not a Fan - so went back to the K24 NA engine and by then the only way I could get it was with an Acura ILX with NO Manual anymore but the DCT works really fine...still wish it had the Manual tho
I leased a 2015 si a few years ago. I loved that car.
Thanks for saying that and for sharing your input!
I love canyon runs with my 2011 8th gen. The revs sound so damn good. But just an fyi, the 1.5t 10th gens have adaptive suspension that our 8th and 9th gens don't. My buddy's 10th gen wrecks me around corners lol
Crazy that this might be my first car ever! I’m currently 18 and getting the si for 10k brand new god is good
Very cool! You will enjoy it!
Hit Eplie lucky I went from a 2015 bmw 328i to a 2003 audi a4
@@asvpshmooglez9075 why?
Great video again. People can like all types of cars. Variety is the spice of life!
Yes sir you are 100% correct! Thank you for taking the time to watch!
Absolutely love both the exterior and interior look of this older model, much more than the last gen. Just one correction; the sentence "if you don't know how to drive a manual, you're not going to be driving this car" should be "if you don't know how to drive a manual, learn it and try this car". :)
I like minor things as well: the speed display is so far ahead, it doesn't need these new fancy windshield projected displays, the asymmetric wipers look kind of cool, rear spoiler looks "just right".
I totally agree with you Great correction!
I’m late to this video but I bought a ‘15 SI yesterday as my first manual car to learn on keep your negativity to yourself 😂😂😂
I have a 2015 sedan. Love it to death. It has 56K and soon to be for my 17 year old son.
That is ver cool that you are getting good use of it and that it will stay in the family!
You're a great speaker. I'm surprised you don't have more subscribers!
That is really awesome of you to say! We are moving in that direction!
I really liked my 4dr 15 si. The lane watch and double deck display was nice. Traded it in for a type r
Was it worth it? Im about to do the same. But i think i may regret selling the k24 since it has more potential than the type R
Other than that it’s great
I love this car, always wanted an si. I have a 2015 Civic.
I am so glad that you liked this one Armando!
I got a '15 4door Si and it is an absolute beast. 👌💎
That is so awesome! What color is yours?
Me too 15 grey 4 door si
Love it. Probly wont ever sell it
I am so glad that you are enjoying your Si! They are really great cars!
Wow cool 😱
9th Gen Si Rule!
Heman Israel I think may people would agree with you!
Nope
I like how everything is facing the driver like a true JDM car
So very true! You hit the nail on the head!
When he was talking about not worrying about horsepower and 0-60 and just enjoying the drive I felt that in my heart. Nothing wrong with having a SI and just enjoy driving regular.
As always, awesome review! Keep up the great work.
You got it man!
i had this. def miss it. miss my 2019 miata RF even more.
Always loved the SI’s. Great review Joe! Always glad to see an appreciation for these types of vehicles. I drive a brz and it’s true that you can have fun with only 200 horsepower!
Dylan Richard thank you so much for the compliment! I really appreciate your support. These cars are a ton of fun just like your BRZ.😊👍🏻
The 9th gen is the last true Vtec it's that simple since the 10th is just a turbo. Take the k24 and switch the cam off the k20 and u got the best of both worlds. The 8k rev the power and the torque of 9th gen all natural aspirated 2.4L.
Thanks for sharing your input and perspective! I appreciate you watching!
@@RaitisRides anyone else notice how high the car revs?
You change the cylinder head
I'm going to look at a 2015 Si soon. This video got me excited. Thank you for the review!
Amazing review. One of the best I've seen in a while. I gotta say these look horrid on video but in person they're gorgeous
That really means a lot! Thank you!
Love the body style of the coupe! ;-)
Has Kam for how much ? I’m convinced on one of these
@@richl1319 For $17,700. The price is a little bit higher than I wanted but it's in amazing shape!
Has Kam not bad I hope you are enjoying your Si right now
@@richl1319 About to head over to dealer and get it...I'll have it this afternoon. Can't wait! ;-)
Has Kam is it Honda dealer ? I can’t seem to find one of these around me
Have this 9TH GENERATION Coupe LOVE IT SO MUCH!!
I have a 2014 Civic si. It has 196,000 miles on it and still running strong. It is fun and super reliable.
Can’t beat a natural aspirated engine buddy.Think you have to be a Certain age group to appreciate the Honda SI 😍🍻
Yes sir totally agree with that!
Of course you can.
Just turbo it.
Forget about waiting for VTEC to kick in, yo.... 0.25 seconds and the turbo is spooled and the engine is pulling at 1800 RPM in any gear. I pull out to pass cars going uphill in 6th gear.
@@Bartonovich52 turbo it and kiss goodbye to reliability past 600.000 miles
I love this Honda civic SI expecially the design of exterior and the interior and most of all the exterior colour white colour is my best favorite colour u doing the great job
I am so glad that you like this one.
Ughhhhhh...to have my 97 Integra Type R back, jesus!! Good review as always buddy!!!
Thanks brother! I would love to review that Type R! I wonder where she is today!
I like this generation and all but I love the 8300 rev limit in my rsx-s. It's not all that fast but it's so much fun revving like that, I think honda really made the k24 less fun with less revs even with more power. Its not all about power
I am so glad that you liked this one! Thank you for watching!
Im getting a k24z7 on my 2004 rsx type s
I went from a 05 rsx S , to one of these 2014 civic si coupe , tbh I do miss the rsx S but I like the si way better , especially being a dad I have a middle back seat , I don’t have to rev that k20 all the way about 5k rpm to get a decent speed , and the interior is way more comfortable and way more tech , to me it feels like a refined rsx , to rev it like the type s can be done with a oil pump swap , and head swap
I really love you videos and your channel
I can't say thank you enough for your great support!
Thanks dude. Way better job than most car reviewers. How did you like the steering feedback? Did you experience rev hang?
Thank you for taking the time to say that Justin. There was a little rev hang but steering feedback was excellent!
I have a 2003 SI, hatchback. Last generation of the "joystick" shifter's I believe (might be wrong). 128K miles. Still runs great.
Thank you so much for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
Is Vtec engaging?
Maybe show the car some love relace everything you think may need a little touch. Then start with small mods. Intakes etc. Then when you are done building tune it.
I’m glad I subscribed to this channel my goodness this man is working all the time uploading very nice videos with a very nice attitude and a lot of knowledge about cars be safe out there my friend 👍 greetings from Miami 💪
Been wanting to get a 10th gen si. But the more I think about it and compare the 9th to the 10th, I'm gonna get a 9th si.
Good call!
The 9th gen coupe Si is probably one of the sexiest and sleekest modern coupe on the market, especially with that spoiler, I love it, it aged so well
I want one so bad I'm saving up for one right now from what I'm hearing it's a lot like my old 2004 acura TL and I LOVED that car I'm too excited
Joe, I would say the 2011 is the last TRUE Si as it has VTEC profiles on both intake and exhaust cams plus the 8k redline. Would love to see you review an 8th gen. Come to West Palm and you can review mine 😃
Love my '15 Si sedan!
It's a fun car!
13-15' years look so much better than my 12' Si. I cheaped out and got a 12' for cheap that doesn't burn oil. Still like it better than my 8th gen Si after 2 years.
Thanks for sharing your in put and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
Love this review man keep it up!
I had an 9th gen. Hands down better than the 10 th Gen. Better built imo
Moe Anthony thanks for sharing your input!😊👍🏻
That's a handsome looking civic 👌 no rice mods
i haven't subscribed because this was the first video I watched from your channel.
Well I hope you come back for more.
Great video. K24 is the best na engine for a civic. Loving my 2015 si coupe Rallye Red...only 25k mi. Stored my baby every winter.
Thank you for the compliment and for sharing that input!
I am so glad that you like this one! I feel the same exact way!
In terms of styling, I absolutely love it. I think I would still prefer my k20z3
Matthew McLean it’s a great looking Si but I think I’m with you when it comes to your k20z3.
@@connorkerr1533 i believe the car makes like 228 or 230
Matt Anderson wow that’s great numbers. Right around what I’m looking for. Thank you for the information.
@@connorkerr1533 no doubt!
I'm so glad I have a 9th gen (15')
It's a really great car! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch!
I have a 2013. Love the VTEC
This is my favorite dream car also too besides Honda S2000.
Another spot on review nothing like the sound of a all motor engine b-series or k-series or nissans QR25 Or GM’s ecotec fords zetec Toyota’s 2zz to name a few manufacturers have given up on intriguing vehicles and Honda was the last hold out.
Thank you so much for your awesome compliment. It helps keep me motivated! I totally agree with you!
Loved the review Joe! Please also review an 8th gen whenever possible.
real nice video love civics
Thank you so much for watching! I really appreciate it!
Still in great shape!
The owner takes really good care of his Si!
if the back end of the last si vtec was on the turbo si it would look sick and perfect for me 👀
I can totally see where you are coming from!
You don't have to explain to is why you give him a hug!
Thanks Abdul!
thank you, its really nice video, that will convince us to get 2015 instead. thumbs up!
Thank you so much for watching! I really appreciate your compliments!
Love vtec
I got an 8th gen 107k miles, low compared to others these days.
I am in the process of converting it to the fd2 Japanese Type R look
Can’t go wrong w almost any of the Honda’s
That is a very good point Mark!
I agree!
I like to see you review The rare 2003 MAZDASPEED Familia/Protege that was MAZDA's answer to the Si that year. Love your reviews. 😎
I love those MAZDASPEED Proteges! I will track one down for you! Thank you for your awesome compliments! I appreciate your support1
Love this car, great review
Even tho I don't know how to drive manual im buying one of these and im gonna learn
You can do it man!
9th gen si was the first si to have some decent torque from dealership 😎👍🏾
The 8th si has 197 hp and 139 lb ft Torque
I can confirm Honda is in the butter knife game
I’m looking at buying a 2014 tomorrow. My 2007 Honda Fit is still running brand new and will be my winter beater
hopefully you got it! I had a fit as a hand me down and finally had the finances to get a 2020. It is awesome. Hope you're enjoying yours!
Best looking si coupe in its class. Headlights are so JDM and the overall look is the cleanest
I wont trade or give my 9th up for anything in the world at this moment i love it. .its my 2nd one had a 13 fb6 i crashed and now i got my 12 fg4. Shes at 140k and running better then when i first brought her home.
Thanks for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
He needs to supercharge it! They're fun and easy to maintain. Once it's tuned it's done.
That would be hot!
Wish you got more in depth with the engine that’s what I came here for. Owned a 2015 civic si sedan. Loved it. I recommend it.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and perspective, I appreciate you watching!
