I have been making these for years and selling them. BIG lesson learned....MOD PODGE is NOT a sealer like it says on the jar. You need to use a spray sealer after wards and let them dry a while before giving as gifts or selling. More work then you think. Looks great but it is time consuming.
@@carpediemlise I did some trial am error coasters using nothing, mod podge and polycrylic. All of the coasters where ruined after words. Including polycrylic. We may be using different brands or type but for me I use the Krylon spray like OP said
I totally agree. Im new to this and I tried mod podge couple different ways. One I left two pls on ceramic tile. DO NOT do that. Top (printed side) lifts off! And yes Mod Podge is NOT a sealer. It's water based. I used a spray sealer that is used, say for instance, on ceramic floors, tile floors etc..
Love the idea! Are they sweat wicking tiles? With the MOD Podge, will all the wet affect that? Will it get sticky or gummy? I'm curious because I love the way this looks!! A great gift! xoxo jen
Help! I have tried I er a diver to out mod podge over my coasters and always get bubbles. I am now using scrapbook paper instead of napkins and wanted to ask you how long do you think you wait to let dry before you add your mod podge on top? This is my biggest problem.
Lovely idea! Whenever using pictures do you do the same exact thing? And should the pictures be printed on regular computer paper or something else? Thanks!
Although it is a neat idea it wouldn't make very good coasters for cold beverages because when the glass sweats the water will roll off of the coaster and onto the table which defeats the purpose of the coaster. It would be much more beneficial to put a thin cork layer on top.
+Chloe Elizabeth haha I'm sorry I drive my kids nuts too. I just am not good at stuff and sometimes I get something in my head and can't get rid of it. I know a few people commented on my Modge Podge. I hope you could laugh about it. haha
+Chloe Elizabeth Sort it out? Could you be less rude? So she says it incorrectly. Can't you just politely correct her? Or, read the comments because you'd see other people corrected her as well? Or, how about this, say nothing at all?
Maybe I'm strange but I think modge podge sounds cute! Besides I appreciate the time taken to show me how to do this. Thank you for sharing this great tutorial 😀
Your coasters are very pretty. What a great idea! Thanks for the video.

+gseanfly what kind of a spray sealer do you use? would scotch guard be ok?
+MelloHelen Hi there, I use a sealer from KRYLON. Anti yellowing. Anti moisture. Avail in matt or glossy. :)
One can also choose to brush on polyurethane or Polycrylic instead of the spray sealer, which are available at Walmart or home improvement stores.

Hello Arielle!! I'm glad you enjoyed the coaster tiles. They were fun!!

I'm just going to tell you a tip, Instead of using a paint brush, I recommend using one of those sponge brushes you can get from Lowes.
Scruffty2222 Gaming I have a boat load of sponge brushes but no small ones...Love them. Thank you for the tip. xoxo

Very well done. But, to what were you referring to 'soap?' What procedure is that in relation to the tiles? Im now curious..:)
Can you sit a hot coffee cup on it without messing up the finish?
My surface remained tacky. My drinking glass sticks to the coaster. How do I avoid that?
can you put resin on top to seal?
Tomato tom-ah-to
Potato pot-ah-to
haha...say it your way sista!!!!
Would this work on wood also?
Lovely idea! Whenever using pictures do you do the same exact thing? And should the pictures be printed on regular computer paper or something else? Thanks!
bethany311997 You could decoupage photos and do the same or you could do photo transfer with "liquidtex" and I have another video on that too. xoxo
When I use the Mod Podge on top, using a foam brush, it leaves lines on the photo. How do i prevent that?
What kind of glue do you use to glue the felt on the back?
I use mod podge
thanks....very nice.

Put the mod podge on the tile not paper, and it won't curl.
@Julia C or just throw a book on top to weigh it down.🙂
Catrina Taylor ----I know I am so sorry...my kids love to correct my vocabulary. haha
IT IS "MOD" podge, NOT modge podge.
Nothing personal but every time I hear someone say Modge Podge, I cringe.
I know silly me. Living with ADHD gets interesting sometimes😄
Your driving me crazy saying Modge Podge ...... Sort it out.
