Ann if I could share a bit of information with you. I used to work for the company that makes Mod Podge and I have demo'd at many craft fairs and helped answer questions from consumers at the Corp offices. Mod podge is water based as well, so it would be best for you to put a sealer on top that is solvent based. The company suggested their clear sealer, but they also have a glossy one, as well as one that gives a pearlescent sheen to it. Of course you could use whatever brand you want as I am sure they have got to have new sealers out since I left in 96 shortly after I married. If you were to want a clear gloss look, you might want to use a very fine sandpaper between coats as it will remove and brush strokes left behind. They used to suggest the little sponge applicators that resemble a paintbrush. I know they have their own RUclips channel for Mod podge now if you want to get some ideas straight from the manufacturer. I don't want to overstep my bounds as you have done a wonderful job on these coasters. I just didn't want you to leave a wet cup on one and it turn foggy from the glue or ruin all your beautiful work. These really are stunning and will make a wonderful gift. You can make some stunning ornaments as gifts this way, which would not require sealing other than the mod podge.
@@kristensadlier Kristen, they make clear spray sealer in matte finish, from several different manufacturers. You can get at any craft store, dept. store, or paint dept. Being a solvent, make sure you spray outside. God Bless
For the last couple of weeks, I have been seeing gorgeous results from using napkins. It amazed me so much I had to search for tut and found this one. Absolutely love that you show blunders. Nothing worse than someone making something look so easy that you feel like a failure if you can't do it as well the first time. It also gives us insight into what went wrong and at time how to fix things. Very educational. Thanks for sharing!
Brilliant! Thank you I'll have to try it. Also thank you so much for tearing the first napkin. Crafters on YT always make everything look so easy and perfect so when you go and try it yourself you feel like such an idiot because everything wasn't quite as straight forward as it looked in the video. Now I won't feel like I can't do it if I tear a few napkins.
I've really loved making theses coasters. I tore holes in the first half dozen. What worked for me in the end, was to put the plastic with the napkin under a very slow tap, then when I turned the plastic over onto the coaster, I pressed really hard and most of the water came out, which meant I hardly had to touch it with the brush. Thank-you so much for all your how to videos. Perth AU
Absolutely fabulous tutorial . Thank you Ann . Tried this and it has turned out brilliant and so easy to do . What would I do without your tutorials :-). So appreciated x
I love that you didn't edit out the part where the tear happened and you had to restart. Most would edit it out like this is so easy and no problems. Your projects are so beautiful. Bunny hugs from North Carolina USA
You are right about Dainty Crafts...that is the method I now use after working like to give up by doing it the way that has been shown for years. No going back to THAT. Thanks for doing a good show of presenting it to us and even those that have seen it before.
These are cool for gift giving! TFS Ann wonderful tutorial and awesome inspiration for everyone to make for the up coming holidays or for any occasion as well!
OMG I LOVE THESE! I’m definitely going to try it when I find some napkins I love. You could also buy a sheet of adhesive felt in a matching colour and put that on the back! Thank you for the video. Xx
Thank you so very much Ann, you've just given me a great idea for Xmas gifts for a friend who has everything and wants for nothing. The coasters look absolutely exquisite. 🤗
What a wonderful idea Ann. These would also make a great Craft Fair item. Will be giving this one a go and see what happens. I have plenty of napkins as I've used them on creating cards with them. Be safe & TYFS
These are absolutely beautiful, I am definitely going to try them. I did some jars with napkins, lovely cardinals that I associate with Canadian Christmas time. I did finish them with a solvent varnish, as advised below, tho I did it 2 years ago. I have loads of napkins as they are a popular hostess gift with my friends! I will enjoy perfecting this to make use of them.
I've only recently found your you tube tutorials and I've got so many new ideas to try. Like yourself I get bored easily just doing the same thing over and over so you have definitely given me so many new and exciting ideas to try. Thank you ❣️
Really love these makes something a little different and a great idea for a Christmas gift. Thanks. You really did a great job. I've got a few Christmas napkins left over from last year's decoupage projects. XXX 💖💝💗 BIG THANKS Sarah.
Those turned out fabulous. Excited to see you do the wooden box I have several I bought ages ago to turn into trinket boxes. I’m going to practice on some wood chips I have laying around. Thanks for sharing xx
Thank you so much Ann, I really really enjoyed watching you create these adorable little coasters for Christmas, and anytime really. I really really love ❤️ those scruffy birds and the robins too. I’m definitely going to try this out and see what I can get. If they’re anywhere as good as yours I shall be very very happy indeed. I know my daughter would really love ❤️ a set of the Robins. Please stay safe and well too. Looking forward to seeing the box you create for them too. xxx Mags

Thank you most helpful, beautiful work. I'm subscribed to Dainty Gifts as well and now yours. I have had a few successes and alot of fails channels like yours help so much, Thank you
I’m so glad you decided to leave in the part where the napkin ripped. For beginners like me, it’s important to know that goofups can happen to the best too 😊
Wonderful 😍😍😍! So lovely the birds and the flowers! I colect napkins, so i have the napkins but i must to buy the coasters 😁. I'm watching Dainty Gifts also 🥰. Thank you! 😘🤗🥰
Hi Ann, what a brilliant idea, don’t the birds with the ruffled feathers make you smile, thanks for making the video, the coasters are beautiful, take care. Regards.
I’m glad I saw you do that because I would have ripped them all day long and felt like a real dummy!!!!! I’m afraid of it! Gorgeous but scary!!!!! Stunning Ann! Xoxo Denise
I watched another video on this, and she uses high temperature engine enamel in clear over the mod podge as a final finish. The mod podge is NOT heat resistant. It is heat activated, which is why you can iron on napkins or fabric for decoupage. ruclips.net/video/ZEGZxZ6MO3I/видео.html
These are beautiful hunni & I can see them making wonderful presents, especially if you an get photos of people's pets or family memories printed out onto thin enough paper. XXX

Do you know of a matte sealer that's solvent based? I'd like to attempt this activity in memory care. Thanks for any help kristensadlier@gmail.com

Great viedeo...and I really love that you leave the little "Oops-moments" in, because that' s what helps the viewers a lot. Love, Monique :-)
Thank you Monique 😘😘
Yes, that's what makes me willing to try it. I can see how to handle it when it happens to me.

Amazing! Thank you for sharing. 💖
Gorgeous!!!!!!!
Just watched this today. Love this idea and want to try. Question: how well does the modpodge handle heat? As in hot coffee cups?
I watched another video on this, and she uses high temperature engine enamel in clear over the mod podge as a final finish. The mod podge is NOT heat resistant. It is heat activated, which is why you can iron on napkins or fabric for decoupage. ruclips.net/video/ZEGZxZ6MO3I/видео.html
Modpodge makes hot drinks stick to coasters, even if you put another coat of something else on top of it.. I'm going to try the engine enamel.
These are beautiful hunni & I can see them making wonderful presents, especially if you an get photos of people's pets or family memories printed out onto thin enough paper. XXX
Thanks hun 😘😘 oh yes brilliant gifts and you could do a matching candle too xxx
@@PositivelyPapercraft wonderful idea. XXX
