    if you don't mind me asking.. how do you get the zonk to do something similar to the patchinko. As far as i can tell the zonk is listed everywhere as a deep diving lure and the patchinko is a surface lure. Where i live the water is relatively shallow and i'd love to try the zonk but worried i'd snag up all the time.

      Mr O Mr O A slight contradiction in your comments 🤔 When you see the numbers of Bass caught by commercial fishermen, I really don’t see the point in a total ban for pleasure anglers. I agree with the limit at present, one fish per session 42 centimetres or over, although I generally only take a fish 45 centimetres or over but would never take a fish like this. A great fish and fantastic memories. 👏👏

Soon after he moved back I caught a 3lber while out on my own and gave him a call to see if he wanted it. Anyway, I took it to his and he immediately said, 'that's at least 6lbs'.... When you catch that first big ass bass... yep, surely must get your heart pumping and your reel brakes go berserk. I caught only 3 bass last summer, and sadly enough none of them even met the minimum size requirements to be able to keep him. Yes, In Belgium we were (are? Should check the regulations for this year) allowed to keep one seabass per fishing session for personal consumption, but only big ass ones like yours. Which basically almost never happens. Or like you, maybe once every 30 years. LOL This while these huge fishing boats are permitted to even keep the small ones, right in front of our nose. Ridiculous. The excuse was/is that shore fishers are the reason why the seabass are low in numbers. Like... really? Are you kidding me?
    Congrats, by they way. It's one to wright down in the book!

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  5 лет назад +1

    • @TheOpelkoenjas
      @TheOpelkoenjas 5 лет назад +1

      @@SaltwaterAngler Like I said, our North Sea (the canal between the UK and Belgium) is getting depleted by French and Dutch boats, legally and illegally, much to the enragement of our own Belgian fishermen who themselves need to follow strict rules and laws. So no, not really a good shore fishing spot here unless you are able to rent a boat and go about 30-40 miles off shore. But then you have to be careful to not get bullied away by the French (France) and Dutch (Netherland). Further down south of France you'll have better luck catching something nice, but I haven't went that far yet.
      Cheers.

      Hi Sir Richard ( are you a real Sir ?) Your asking the question i think a lot of people want to know and i myself would of asked ! The answer is No other than Brighton is the Nearest Big town. Its not on my usual Patch either but that said i did return and have not caught one fish of any size. The fun of Bass fishing is finding your own marks and enjoying the fruits of ones labour. Bass are a habitual fish to. Thanks for messaging much appreciated Sir

    • @TheOpelkoenjas
      @TheOpelkoenjas 5 лет назад +2

      I completely agree with you. It's not us that cause the oceans from getting depleted. Even 1000 fisherman fishing 24/7 at the shore can not haul in the amount of what one trawler hauls in in an hour, on daily base. But that doesn't mean that I'll keep every fish. If it's big enough to feed me and my wife, and we feel like eating fish that day: I'll keep it.
      Cheers.

    Great video & what a catch. Just out of curiosity, what's the head camera you're use to film the video? Is it a GoPro or a cheapie version of one? I've been looking for something on a budget to film my fishing when on holiday. Do you use an internal/external microphone? Sorry for all the questions. Any advice would be great.Thanks :)

    • @SaltwaterAngler
      @SaltwaterAngler  4 года назад +1

      I used a GoPro 5 . They have pros and cons. I didn’t then but use separate mics with a zoom h1 now. Most of the saltwater angler videos are. A mixture now of iPhone 11, a canon 700d dslr camera and gopros. If your on a budget check out a 5 but also maybe a yi4k is worth looking at.

    A magnificent fish! Never caught one that big (a bass) What the viewer doesn't get is your heart pounding in your chest with the fear of it getting off! I had this when I caught my 27lb cod on the Pier at Newhaven.I like the way it conveys the time and effort it takes to subdue a fish of this size. It always looks better when someone else films it, you have quite enough to think about fighting the fish!
