£160 for an entry level bass rod! How many people today have that much to spend on a rod alone, then have to buy reel, line and lures etc. Think a bit of realism is required from Robbie! How about a video from AD with a bit realistic tackle choice.

Yeah, you don't need expensive gear to fish anywhere. Buy what you can afford, you'll still get results.

Like any hobby, depends on your definition of entry level I guess.
Entry level absolute budget, or decent entry level.

      Hello Jason,
The SGS5 isn't a cheap rod, but at the price point it is fantastic. It is entry level for that particular range of rods. Having the right rod for the job when lure fishing can definitely make a difference to your catch rate. A crisp fast action rod like the SGS5 allows you to impart more action into the lure and feel every tiny vibration either from the action of the lure or a take from a fish.
We have some nice bass lure rods at a lower price point on our website, or if you want to treat yourself the SGS5 rods are slighter cheaper right now.

They are bound to go around recommending expensive rods as they get all theirs for nothing 🙄

Buy a cheap rod then. Simple.

Interesting discusson on "entry level" rods. My take away from this video was the useful tips on fishing a long featureless beach. Ive been avoding these! I might take my 25 year old Shakespeare 1-3g flattie rod and see how far a seeker goes... Many thanks!

That was truly a pleasure to watch Sir.
Massive thanks for sharing and thanks to Rob for giving us an insight into Sea Fishing for Bass.
Although I am a course fisherman I enjoyed it so much.
Do you take the odd one for the plate? They are good eating, am sure there are size limits?
Food for thought on trying a go :)
    Cheers.

Thank you Rob, glad you enjoyed the video. You can take a maximum of 2 bass per angler so long as they are over 42cm. This does change slightly different times of the year, see the attached link.
Phil & Rob prefer to release all the bass 😊

Great video. Newbie here and I’ve got a couple of questions? Do you use braided or monofilament? Also do you use a leader? If so how long? Thanks

    • @AnglingDirectTV
      @AnglingDirectTV  3 месяца назад

      Hi Jez,
A braided mainline around 20lb is perfect, maybe step up to 30lb if fishing rough ground 💪
      Then a 15-20lb fluorocarbon trace around 24 inches 👌
