    Happy new year , good upload,definitely agreed on long cast rods for bass,uk /Europe I use 330m / 11ft seamonsters lubina (sea bass) 20 /70g for this and have lifted low double bass out with this also high double cudas, it’s a cheaper option at about £30 if hunted out online.about the best sea bass rod out there is the Fisterra if your looking to spend alot of money, I also use shimano small rods in some tight areas or boat fishing for bass nice and light as you say. The rod that used in uk All last summer for lures for bass was the Dawia procaster migrateur prst 11ft 10g to 50g its lovely sea trout rod that’s light casts a mile and super strong I lifted bass out just over 8lbs with it, great rod for about £50,With reels for bass from shore the Penn 2500s, (summer high ratio)Dawia prorex in 4000 (winter low ratio)as they are lighter than shimano and less wind knots ,I do use shimano on boat also baitcasters ,Tightlines for 2024 mate😎🐟🇪🇸

    Good vid Cal, very true about the price, forget the price, I've spent thousands and I'm still hustling, do I like it or don't I etc, the one thing agree on 100% is shimano reels, twinpower and especially the vanquish omg what a set of reels they are 👍🎣🐟

    Really great advice.. you really don’t have to spend a fortune on gear to enjoy bass fishing ! I find the time by the water and what we learn there is more important than expensive rods etc.. tight lines and all the best for the season ahead ! 😊🎣👍

    Good video Cal as always. Btw -Cracking tide tables, those👍 that’s the first thing to change over every year!
    Yes, some good points made and it’s personal choice and preferences learned through experience in the end. Got me thinking about what rods and reels I’ve bought, when and why/ what application. I’ve broken/ drowned/ worn out a few. In the main I’ve bought every item for a specific purpose and been lucky enough to have trusted advice for each purchase. Avoiding bling and fashion is a winning tactic but hard to sustain 😂.

      Yeah they’re great those tide tables Neil.
      I totally agree. They’ll always be times throughout an anglers life when they’re recommended something which is supposed to be brilliant yet they don’t get along with it. It’s all personal preference isn’t it. The market is loaded with great products, it’s about finding what suits you isn’t it.

    Hi Cal, Happy New Year mate. I totally understand and agree that rods and reels are very much a personal thing and the most important thing is how it feels to you. The one thing I would like you to review is your wet weather gear and what you wear on those very cold wet days?

    • @FISHINGWITHCAL
      @FISHINGWITHCAL  5 месяцев назад +1

      That’s right mate. A lot of it comes down to personal preference.
      As far as the wet weather gear goes, I don’t use anything special. I like lightweight, waterproof and wind proof gear. If you’re out in rough weather, you’re always going to get wet etc. I go through quite a few pairs of trousers and jackets. Things break, it happens when you’re getting good use out of it. Maybe one day I’ll invest in some more expensive waterproofs.

    Ditto on the Vanford , nice to see a true impartial video re bass fishing on lures. Too many people are lured into being ambassadors and become sell outs to brands for the wrong reasons. Keep doing what you are doing buddy. Have you substituted the never crack to the shed now …

      Thanks mate. I’ll always be honest about the gear I’m using. I’ve used plenty of crap stuff too but I’d never slag it off on the internet.
      The Never Crack went quite a long time ago. Believe it or not, it cracked! I still don’t know how it happened but that rod is a great fishing rod for the price. 👍🏼

    Very good Video with good information
    I would say that for start the seatrout rods from the swedish and dänisch Brands are a good start
    I am very happy with my medium Game savage Gear. SG4 with 2,7m
    As I am Not the biggest Lad, IT suits for me very well
    Additionally I recommend very good quality braid, Not the cheap stuff and salt water Proof reels (For exaple:
    Daiwa BG 3000 or 4000 or SALTIST NERO 3000 OR 4000

      @FISHINGWITHCAL  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yes mate I agree with you. In all honesty, I haven’t used any sea trout rods before so I couldn’t comment on that. As far as braid goes, yes, definitely worth investing in decent braid and a decent reel. I’d always spend more on a reel over a rod personally. If you can afford both, great.

    I agree with you totally about short handle rods i do not and will never buy one they make no sense to me having your hands so close to your body is not natural when fishing and it looks wrong anyway.
    I have never been a lure fishing person but i am now buying a lot of different lures to try when i get a chance to go fishing . Thumbs Up on your channel cheers Cal. 😉👍

    • @FISHINGWITHCAL
      @FISHINGWITHCAL  5 месяцев назад +1

      It’s just a personal thing regarding a longer handle. Some people love them and sometimes, casting a long way isn’t necessary so I get why people use a rod with a short butt. For me though, I can’t stand them 🤣
      Thanks for watching the video, be carful of getting into the realms of lure buying.. it’s never ending!
