Double solid yellow lines in the United States control passing.
You can’t cross over the double yellow solid line.
However, in many big cities double parked cars are common place.
You can’t stay where you are; you have to move around the double-parked cars.
Mirror, signal, and shoulder check before moving out into the other lane, and do the same observation checks and signaling when you move back.
Be proactive in your driving by looking far down the road to see double parked cars.
In keeping with moving around double-parked cars, be prepared to give the right-of-way to vehicles that are moving around double-parked cars approaching in the opposite direction.

When I took my road test, there was a box truck double parked right before the crosswalk. They were unloading stuff and I had to pass them and turn left.
Very stressful but I did fine 😅

@@smartdrivetest I haven't really driven since I got my license. I live in a big city and the thought of driving around is daunting. I'm watching your other video on things to learn after you get your license and it does help with gaining confidence!

Question about 2 way stops! If say I'm on the main road and need to turn left onto a smaller road, and the driver in front of me is also wanting to turn left, who has the right of way? Especially in the case where the main road is a single lane and there's not any other lanes to yield to oncoming traffic.
My biggest question is for bicyclists... can I pass a bicyclist by crossing over the double yellow line? I want to give them a good amount of room when there isn't a bicycle lane. If I don't pass them, the drivers behind me can get really angry.

How do we change lanes when there is a traffic jam?
Leave your signal on and crowd the side of the lane to which you’re changing. Some one will eventually let you in. All the best, Cheers Rick
