This is so helpful Rich. I recently passed my theory test with flying colours. And this is going to guide me through, before my practical test. You're a blessing in this field. Thank you once again.
Luckily my car has a button with a red triangle installed in it! It makes the orange lights go all blinky. You can park anywhere!

I Don't own a car, Because I DON'T have a driving licence, But Even I Know That They're Called Hazard Light's. 🤦♂️👎.
@@MrTamiya89 hazard lights? I never knew lights could be hazardous!!!
Thank god you put in a tone indicator

Ah, a fellow Audi driver.
Mate you're videos are incredible. Very much helpful in prepping for the road test
I actually laughed at the yellow line bit 😂 , great content, watching and rewatching (on tv I can’t comment so I looked this up on my phone)
Been taking lessons for 1 1/2 months now and your video’s help me keeping calm especially ones that go over approaching junctions but I’m working my way through all of them
Thanks Richard. Appreciate your effort
i passed yesterday with only 4 minors thanks for the videos they really helped me understand some of the things i was forgetting on my lessons
Thank you very much instructor! Have your nice every day !
These types of videos have helped me improve on my driving 👍
Your videos are truly AWESOME glad have found u wish i saw these when i was learning 5 yrs ago!
Very useful video for the driving test as always Richard 😁🚘
wish I saw this before my test. It really helped I will keep on watching until my next test
you are like the apple of driving videos: the absolute gold standard when it comes to driving videos for UK, I always search your channel first when i have a doubt with regards to driving, and you cover all basis vis-a-vis highway code, legislations, legal/illegal, the norms, the graphical representation to explain it well, practical aspects of it.... keep up the good work Rich
Excellent video and instructor, passed first time today thanks to watching this and many others from you the night before 💪✅
been driving 20 years, enjoying your content, brushing up and even learning new skills. Thank you.. (still being an old codger and adding 'exceptions', but thats just having fun and being curmudgeonly) Cheers and thanks for the great content,
Thanks for the information Richard.👍🏾
Thank you for all the videos, passed today on the second attempt, you're a hero
That's great news! Congratulations!
Your videos amazing man I got a lot benefit of them. Passed yesterday with 2 minors. Keep it up great stuff
Thank you, congratulations on passing!
Love the ending! 🐦 thanks Rich for another great vid
After watching your videos I got the confidence to get back onto the road again. Thank you.
That's really nice to hear. Good luck on the road. Take your time, do things at your own pace.
Thank you very much for all the videos. I'm sure every minute of each videos has hours of recording and editing behind it but I just want to say that everything you're doing is so helpful.
I passed this week with 6 minors despite massive blunders and thought I failed 1/3 through by repeatedly stalling but recalled your relax advice and just carry on.
Thank you. You're a real legend
That's great to hear, congratulations on passing!
Yeah! Nice video! It is curious how traffic rules are special in each country. Single and Double red lines (Red Route), zig-zag lines, I like it. Imagine stopping at taxi marks and someone getting inside our car asking for a ride, I think it would be funny. "Must and Should '' are very interesting parts of the rules, I suppose it makes UK traffic more dynamic. Due your hard work to teach us with those excellent videos even that beautiful bird wants to learn how to follow the traffic rules. It deserves to be filmed. Thank you very much Richard!
Thank you for these videos!
You are the best teacher God Bless u
Thank you so much , I do appreciate your lessons.
Thankyou for this information I was really wondering about this kind of information I really got today 🙏
Thanks Rich, another banger :)
Passed my driving test first time with no instructor bexahse of richard.. such a legend
That's amazing, congratulations!
Same. 4 months between getting my provisional and passing.
Practiced every day in my own car, reading the highway code every evening, and watching Richard's videos.
I wanted to get an instructor but because of the covid backlogs and living in the middle of nowhere I just couldn't get one before my test. Was amazed when I passed.
We're so lucky to have a free resource like this.
passed with one minor today! i’ve been using your videos as revision for weeks and they’ve been so so helpful, thank you ☺️
Congratulations on passing!
Although I come from Germany with right-hand traffic, your videos were really helpful... passed the practical test today on the first attempt.
Great to hear! Congratulations!
I just passed my practical test today in Colchester with only 4 minors. Your channel helped tons, and I honestly feel like I would have failed if not for your amazing videos. Thank you, and keep up the quality videos!
That's great to hear! Congratulations!
These videos are amazing, passed on Saturday with 0 minors and I didn’t have one lesson, only hadn’t even had my provisional for 4 months too, if you have some determination and watch videos you don’t need more that one lesson teaching you how to control the car but the information on how to pass is all on RUclips you just need to have your own car to practice in, but this will be cheaper than lessons, even if you are having lessons these are also great because you can learn what you need to do before going into your lesson and then it won’t take you as long to grasp it. All I can say to you is THANKYOU!!!! For making these great videos.
That's fantastic to hear! Congratulations!
Thank you, this is super helpful!
Thanks for your videos
I have my own car and driving license since last 5 years, but still I love to watch your videos to learn some amazing tips and tricks from you. But most importantly I am watching your videos to learn English language and accent as well, lol. Thank you very much, mate. Sending love from Pakistan.

Thanks for the video. When l get my license, it'll because of you.

I passed my driving test today and i had to come back here and thank you Richard. Although i am in a different country from yours i feel like watching your videos played a big part in my passing today. You are God sent🙂. Always grateful for your help🙏🏽🙏🏽
I'm so happy to hear that, congratulations on passing!
Richard i thank you so much for all your driving videos. They have taught me a wealth of information and immensely helped with passing my test which was on the 9th this week. Passed on my first try with just 5 minors. I will continue to watch more videos as they are really good for learners and passed drivers alike.
That's great to hear, congratulations!

Very helpful video! I did a mock test yesterday and got a serious for parking on the bus stop, I will surely be more careful on the real driving test which will be on 12th Feb.
Love your videos! Xx
Very useful

Thanks for another great video! I got a parking fine because I thought a parking permit applies for everywhere in London. So a permit holder only A for example only applies to the borough that issues the permit not anywhere else. An expensive lesson learnt for me and this wasn’t taught by a driving instructor ;)
That's correct, I'm sorry to hear you learnt the expensive way.
Just passed my test today with only 3 minors. Thank you Richard for all the amazing videos. They have been great for touching up on maneuvers and skills within driving between lessons. Thank you again

An Irishman is taking his theory test. One of the questions is, 'what do single yellow lines mean?' His answer is, 'no parking at all.' The next question is, 'What do double yellow lines mean?' HIs answer is 'no parking at all at all.'
Racist.
@@thegrandmuftiofwakanda Not really, but I can see where you're coming from.
I don’t get it
@@123ShadowMario There's a stereotype that Irish people say "at all at all" instead of just "at all", so if one yellow line means "no parking at all", then two yellow lines must mean "no parking at all at all", which is the same as the stereotype.
Basically, the number of yellow lines = the number of "at all"s in the answer.
Nice video 👍I gt test in Dec as automatic any vid u can make abt around about road marking wil be helpful
Good luck in December!
In Melbourne, Australia, you must not park opposite to traffic anytime of the day, even on a quiet street, or else you will be fined.
Why not in a quiet street? That one seems a little unjust.
Surely the highway code should say "You should only park on the pavement when parking on the road would block the road for large vehicles such as emergency vehicles". That would avoid this ridiculous situation where many of us are implicitly expected to disobey this should-not rule
I have my test in 1 week any advise? Love your videos BTW although my instructor is brilliant and he helped me understand alot of things it's not the same trying to understand things in a car as it is at home watching your videos. I'm sure everyone appreciates your stuff I know I do so if I pass I owe alot to you aswell as my instructor
Good luck. Drive as you have been taught, no special show. Only take your test if you can drive 40 mins with your instructor with no help.
@@ConquerDriving Thanks very much 😊
Hello Richard, I’ve been watching your videos and looking forward to every new one. I’ve noticed that there’s no video dedicated to pulling up on the left and on the right safely without hitting the kerb. I‘m terrible at these manoeuvres and caused my instructor’s car wheel to scrape against the kerb sharply. Needless to say, he was livid and blew my confidence. Please show me how to do it properly. Thank you Richard

Can you please do a video explaining some of the parking times signs . It's very confusing on the same road different times sometimes and also where to park is it where only the sign is located or across the whole street
Thank you for the suggestion. I may do a signs video.
If you ever have to ask yourself "Hey, can I park here?" The answer is no!
Thank you Richard for your amazing video. So helpful, the only question that I still have in my mind is about zig zag lines. Can I pick up/ drop off someone on white zig zag lines?
I would not, that's not a safe place to stop a car.
That dance at the yellow line... I hope someone in a nearby house caught that lol
I actually had a sore next for a couple of days after doing that. Starting to gradually age.
GOD bless you
Just passed today with 0 faults, thanks for your videos, extremely helpful!
Any tips ?
Honestly, it varies person to person. But imo, main reasons a person would fail is because of roundabouts or meeting situations. By the time you do your test you shouldnt be stalling (few times is still ok, wont fail). Get your reverse bay parking and parallel parking on point (make your own reference points tailored to you). Watch a show me tell me video for your specific car so you know where everything is and what it does. Apart from that, just make sure you do your 6 checks whenever you stop or park up. Check centre mirror every 5-10secs. Check centre and side mirror whenever youre turning, and centre mirror when changing speed/gear. Examiners are nice, they arent there to try and fail you. Also, when they ask you to pull up on the side - NEVER do it infront of a driveway! (Unless they specifically state you can) GOOD LUCK!
@@TheShishaDoctor thank you so much for the detailed reply. I’ll bear in mind all the tips.
@@mylittleworld2552 Np, if you have other questions ask away.
Wow, what an achievement! Congratulations!
3:55. Oh no Richard. A blunder. Cannot believe you’ve double reds non congested concrete jungle Birmingham or London but country ish road
For the record, regarding parking on the opposite side it says:
248
You MUST NOT park on a road at night facing against the direction of the traffic flow *unless in a recognised parking space*. Laws CUR reg 101 & RVLR reg 24
True, I should have included recognised parking space.
Had absolutely no clue about this rule, as I have actually done it a few times in the week since I passed, good to know now :)
Edit: In fact my cars parked like that at this moment in time
Thanks Richard for All your Videos.
They help me a lot even though I am learning to drive here in Germany. The clutch videos help me a lot on my early phase of driving. Thanks a lot and more power to your channel. #ThirdyandAlliChannel
Hi wil u be uploading about motorway and car changing oil and and when to change tires and battery life or when should we change it, and what should u keep in ur car and when it's winter time thanks
Thank you for the suggestion, I'll add it to my video ideas list.
Thanks for another helpful video I have my second test attempt on Monday I've been watching your videos over and over to get extra advice and pointers. I have one question what if you are on a road that has a bus lane running along the length of the road and an examiner tells me to pull over. Am I right in saying that this is also a no go?
The examiner won't ask you to do something you can't do.
Do i have to use a left indicator when i am planning to park? After parking should i use some signs like hazard lights to warn the traffic?
Could you make a video on how to reverse bay park between two cars please ? Or will ur video on reverse bay parking work ?
It will work, it's easier with two cars as you have a better reference of where you need to go.
Someone should remind people on the road leading into my road about the 10m junction rule. There are constantly cars right up to the give way line and sometimes over the line too! 😅
Can you pull up against a raised kerb even though you can see someone has block paved their drive
If its not a big junction and is just a turn to a side street. Do you still have to leave a 10 meter gap from the' junction'?
Could you do a video on adequate clearance please?
Thank you for your suggestion, I'll add it to my ideas list.
Great video, but can you explain how the examiner would mark the candidate if they parked in the wrong place? For example, if a learner on their test did stop on double yellows, would that be a minor (driving error), or a fail (serious error)?
The examiner will likely fail the pupil if they stop in an unsafe or illegal place. Since stopping on yellow lines is not illegal then it's unlikely to be a fail. The examiner will usually ask the pupil to pull over when there is a safe place very soon, if they want the pupil to stop on yellow lines (sometimes they do) the examiner will explain to the pupil to ignore the yellow lines on this occasion. If they don't mention the yellow lines then it's best to avoid them as it is illegal to wait on yellow lines.
Hi, thank you for your videos. They have been very helpful to me.
I've a question and hope you could advise if possible?
I've a new driving instructor due to my previous instructor changing career last month and my test is this coming Wednesday.
My question is;
I've always used my mirrors aswell as quick check forward to see it's clear and safe aswell as using my side mirrors while reversing two car lengths, this was taught to me by my previous instructor. I was never told to watch where I'm going through looking through the rear window aswell as using my mirrors by my previous instructor.
My new one said this isn't the safest way and could cause me to fail.
I should be looking behind (through the rear window) while reversing two car lengths, aswell as using my mirrors and a quick check forward to make sure it's safe and clear. Is this the case?
I'm now very nervous and haven't a lesson until the morning of my test on Wednesday.
Thank you for your time and your videos.
Some instructors teach this. I disagree that you should look primarily through the back window as you can't guide your car due to the limited view. You will pass your driving test if you complete the manoeuvre with good control and good observations. As long as you make regular 360 degree checks it doesn't matter what method you use. I use my mirrors to guide my car backwards and look round every so often to get a better view of what's coming.
I've got my test in 3 days, so am doing some last minute revision, I've got my own car and most of my driving has been done with my mother or sister in the car with me after a bad experience with a driving instructor refusing to give my money back when their car got stolen, but anyway;
When you pull up on the left, are you expected to handbrake, put the car in neutral and turn the engine off? This is something I can't find an answer to on any videos regarding parking up on the left
Love your videos too, always top quality
You only need the handbrake if you have parked and you only need to turn the engine off if your examiner asks you to. If you have parked on either side of the road I recommend you pull the handbrake up and put it into neutral. Good luck with your test.
@@ConquerDriving Ohh OK so the examiner would ask me to turn off the engine, thanks for the reply, legend!
So, single, solid white line running along the side of of the road, i can park there?? Because i have been avoiding this lol
My instructor told me not to park opposite a car as it narrows the gap for passing cars. If the road is wide, is this ok? Also, are you allowed to park opposite a junction?
Junctions can be a nightmare on the school run
Hi if I’m going on narrow road and there’s a bus pulled over for passengers. Should I or shouldn’t I overtake it since my view in restricted due to the bus. Any tips please what to do in this situation to avoid queue of traffic behind.
You should try to overtake it if safe, try not to get yourself in a position where you can't see, hold back far and close to the middle of the road to improve your view.
So assuming there are no markings that allow to park on the pavement, in London you can not even partially park on the pavement but everywhere else in UK it is allowed(should not though). I’m not from UK, just curious. So you can get fined for even parking partially on the pavement in London?
Yes you can.
What i got from the video: There's nowhere to PARK LOL
8:46 where is this on the highway code? I have wondered this but haven’t found it.
rule 240 of the highway code - it would be helpful if it was mentioned in rule 128 or 129 also but it isn't
Please can you clarify this. Can i park on and then move off from a single yellow line during the driving test when the examiner asks u to pull up on the left? Eg if the no waiting plates say 11am - 3pm and my test is at 10am?
Yes, the examiners will normally mention the yellow lines if they want you to stop on them.
1:48 does that mean I can still park outside of the hours shown or not?
You can park outside of the hours of operation.
Hi Richard , I would like to know , the new rule said we should give way to people who want to cross in the junction, yesterday I went an big roundabout, when I leaving the roundabout there was pedestrian want to cross the junction, I did stop and give way to them, but the car behind me overtake me at the same time , is this my fault? Am I fail a test in this situation ? Many thanks .
If it's safe to give way you should, if it's not safe you should continue. If the pedestrian looks like they will walk or is already walking in the road then of course give way. It's rarely safe to stop when leaving a busy and flowing multilane roundabout.
@Conquer Driving did you mean to say "single red lines" at 3:50 instead of "single yellow lines"?
Ahhhh! I didn't notice that blunder and I edited it. Damn, not a lot I can do now.
I passed today 😁🎉
Congratulations!
1-1:10 don’t think you know how hard I was laughing LOOOOL
In terms of the lines where we can park, it is just when there are no lines of any colour ??
There may be no stopping or no waiting signs also, so it's not just the lines.
On disability parking bays and normal parking bays look for a sign. No sign no restrictions.
while pulling up in left if i am not sure that within the length remains ahead i can't straighten the car or can't reach as near to the kerb,,then is it ok if i reverse my car a little bit to get it straight /near to the kerb?
I usually reverse my car to straighten with the kerb when parking as I want to get super close. On your test it's best to stop without reversing as it keeps things simple and there is no need to get super close. Within a drains width will be fine.
Thanks a lot ..
But what you told me that means while pulling up left i can't reverse to get the car strighten during test?As if the car isn't straightened & there is no space to go ahead then what can i do?
Q On a driving test can you park in a cycle lane with a broken line, as long as there are no other restrictions?
Rule 240 of the highway code states you must not stop or park in a cycle lane during its period of operation.
So you must not park on a cycle lane during your test.
Can you park in countryside in 30 miles ph without a road mark in narrow road?
Depends how narrow the road is, you must not block the road. I wouldn't recommend it on a narrow road.
I never knew the uk has fire hydrqants. Cause there not like the american ones. And it is also illegal to park nest to the fire hydrant there.
I've watched 1:01 - 1:11 so many times
