You actually understanding the level of a new driver and having the mindset to help them improve. Totally respect to your style. This is another video I needed to see as I never got these explanations. Thank you!
Hey man, I really, really appreciate these videos. I'm 31 years old and have a terrible anxiety disorder. I did some lessons when I was 18 but my anxiety got so bad I couldn't leave the house for well over a decade. Anyway, I'm really hoping to save up a little cash, do my theory and practical and buy a car. These videos have been invaluable to me. Thanks for using the headcam too - very helpful :D Big thumbs up to you amigo, both on RUclips and in real life lol :)
@@ConquerDriving Thanks man, that's really very kind of you to say. If I was local I'd give you a shout in an instant (but I'll be sure to use your links for sponsorship!). Take care of yourself and thanks again.
What a relief to hear all my struggles validated! I feel a huge weight lift from my shoulders, relieved that what I go through is completely natural and I simply need more practice. The head camera is incredibly useful. The view through it is the most valuable part of the video. Thank you, Richard!
I'd love to see more of these kind of videos from you, where you are just driving and commenting on what you're doing. It's quite helpful and also entertaining.
I'm from Singapore and your videos really helped me a lot! If only there are sure professional driving instructors like you sir over here... Thank you very much!
In Australia we are taught to ALWAYS check your blind spot before you change lanes, no matter what - mirror checks aren’t enough and if you failed to head check that would be marked as a fault. Mirrors just don’t show you everything and it only takes a half-second to check your blind spot as well.
The head cam is SO helpful! I could see both the rear mirror and side mirror, and it makes me feel like I am vicariously driving. I wonder what it’s like to change lanes in busy traffic though.
Excellent video. You're an amazing teacher. My driving instructor tells me when to change lanes and tries to insist I take gaps I don't feel comfortable with and it makes me feel more anxious. You're very encouraging and it helps with developing good judgement and self confidence.
Love that you include a learners perspective of trying out new things and it is true, that getting anxious and overwhelmed because of an unfamiliar road or area that you've never driven on before is true. Especially when you have your attention diverted to a small little thing and you don't concentrate on driving is a bad habit for me and I've learned so much from your channel. Please keep up!!
Some people learn quicker than the other which is true and positive thinking helps a lot, but I found very hard to feel confident enough to drive after completing a lot of lessons and I feel like I worry more than focusing what I could achieve. Whenever I watch your vidios, it really builds my confidence, thank you so much for your time and support, you are so good.
Hello Conquer driving , just passed my driving test in a first go. After my husband hardwork and great lessons , I would like to thank you for your useful videos about roundabouts, manoeuvres. Keep it up 👍🏼
I have suggested your page to my friends who are going to start practical lessons. Your channel is absolutely doing fabulous job. Thank you so much for making learning driving easy for new drivers .
Found your channel today and it’s amazing! Thank you for wearing a camera on your head and thank you for not focusing on passing the test like all other channels do. Your videos truly help. Sincere thank you!
Developing your own skills and your own judgment is so true. When I was first starting to drive with my mom we were at an intersection. I had right of way but there was a cyclist on my right. I thought they were coming quite fast so I waited for them. My mom was like what are you doing? Why didn't you go? Well I didn't feel comfortable going so I didn't go. In retrospect I had plenty of time but I don't regret my decision because it was a learning moment. Then a couple weeks later I'm trying to turn left but there's a car in the opposite lane so I should give way (driving on the right here). But I noticed the car was mid turn and still pretty far away. I made a quick turn and it felt comfortable. But my mom was freaking out saying I shouldn't have gone. Looking back I still think it was safe so no regrets since I didn't rush the decision.
Could you do a video on changing lanes in a non-motorway setting? I am still quite nervous about changing lanes in a non-motorway setting, roundabouts, a-roads etc.
I think the head camera is the only way to show things in reality, especially for this type of video. Well done on a clear explanation, verbal and visual
Thank you very much for your excellent videos. I recently passed my driving test (in Ireland). There are also some other useful driving videos on RUclips but Conquer Driving is by far the best I have seen. Along with a very patient driving instructor, these videos are great for more anxious learners like me
O my lord! your sense of humour is to the next level. It was informative at the same time very funny. Enjoyed this video to the fullest. Thanks for this amazing video. You are truly an amazing instructor. I passed my theory using your @theory 4 in 1 app. I recommended this app to many of my friends.
Your new head cam definitely worked as a treat! I passed my test last year ( with only few minors) drove on my own straightaway since that, with a 1999 Passat 😂 I'm definitely confident with everything but changing lane on fast route especially when I'm there first time😂 our biggest question would always be " how far is far enough?" " how quickly others are catching us?" your head cam showed everything. Thank you so much and Please keep doing that!
Hi Richard in rural areas there is no requirement for driving instructors to take you near a dual carriageway or motorway as the driving test does not test your abilities for this. I believe it should be mandatory to elimate the daunting approach to a slip road and joining fast moving traffic. These videos are great for novices and the experienced drivers. Thanks again.
Thank you very much for this videos. I love them. I have driving license from 2009 but I have not used it, I decided to give it a go, so took some refresher class (20 hrs) and bought a car. Thanks for ur kind words. I am feeling very low that I m unable to learn lane changing.. I must be kind to myself and allow myself more time to learn lane changing
Hello Richard, Thank you SO VERY MUCH, You have mentioned very sensitive and important points in this video regarding changing lane and checking the mirrors that all were really useful for me. Take care and stay always safe and happy! God bless you!
It's funny cause my instructor told me not to check my blind spot when changing lanes on a dual carriageway before a roundabout having a little bit of experience riding a bike has drilled this into me so thankyou it's nice to see I wasn't in the wrong
Hey Richard, thank you so much for all the positive motivation in the video. I really need to hear that as a new driver learning how to drive on the highway as my driving instructor doesn't give me any of that. I've been practicing for a bit, but this one highway I've got to drive on is really busy and I get nervous still on it. The last time I was on it I froze because I couldn't figure out when to change lanes as there were so many cars in the next lane over. I'm really grateful for your advice and sensitivity to new drivers, thank you so much ❤
Hi instructor thank you very much for your videos, I passed my driving test yesterday and I have my driving licence, your videos helped me, thank you very much
15:07 This was the video I needed right after today's lesson. My instructor was shouting at me for every little thing I did or did not. It absolutely destroyed my confidence. I really thought I was never going to be a good driver after that lesson. But I think most of the problem is he didn't allow me to develop my own judgment, he was just telling me what to do and getting angry when I didn't do exactly what he wanted me to do.
If you are my instructor I learn quickly, my instructor always ask me why your not change lane? and he said if you don't change lane no body will give a chance to change lane. I told him I saw car in my wing mirror and I don't know how far and fast car is moving most of the time he took my steering wheel to change lane sometime I managed changing lane when no car is in my wing mirror. Watching from UAE
Thank you. It takes time and practise to get used to judging the distance and speed of what's approaching in your mirrors. Generally if the car is in your interior mirrors as well as your wing mirror and are not catching up much you should have time.
Wow needing to redevelop this skills as I have not driven since I had a "freak accident" in 2008 much or by myself, feeling like a new driver, this video is very useful and informative. Camera was a great inclusion it puts you in the drivers seat and let's you feel in tune with the road. Thank you
I have my theory coming up next week. I have very little confidence I will pass 3rd time round. Would be amazing if you done some videos on theory also because the way show, explain & breakdown things is amazing. For someone like me I struggle with learning but your videos are helping me.
Really nice explanation of the whole blind spot affair! I drive an older transit van quite often, and it has smaller blind spot mirrors under the normal wing mirrors. However, if you intentionally dont look into them while being overtaken, the amount of time that passes between the car disappearing in your wing mirror and appearing besides you is really scary.
"not everybody uses his brain". This is the best explanation about why in motorway , some drivers " a lot" not use the indicators for change lines. Really good video. Always helpful for experienced drivers as novice drivers . Thank you 💯
These videos have been super helpful! I've had to change instructor 2 days before my test so I've been a bit nervous but these have given me a confidence boost and I did well in a new car today ❤️
My driving instructor made me have a panic attack and completely took my confidence in driving. (she was awful and didn't like me for some reason) And I'm hoping watching these helps me

I love the head cam. Really helpful and obviously very sexy too, which is a bonus. Seriously though, this is excellent with the head cam. The view from the mirrors is shown in study materials but actually getting an real example of it being used is SOOO much more helpful. Keep it up 👍
Hey Richard, just wanna thank you for all your great videos and your kindness in answering all my questions~ I passed my manual driving test today, finally, 3rd go though~ in Australia 🇦🇺 as someone never drove before, directly learn manual- (I had 2 instructors before, they have their good things but …) anyway so lucky to find u on RUclips, because the way I learn is I must understand -and you happen to be good at explaining all~~ still have long way to go to become safe driver in the rest of my life, will keep watching your videos~~ Will you post some videos about defensive driving? I just wanna me be safe and other ppl and cars safe around me~ :) Thanks again ❤️👍🙏
Ive been driving for the past 3years But due to covid my driving test kept getting postponed. Its only this feb that i got my license. But again haven't been driving due to lockdown and so. I've been binge watching your videos to keep learning
Thankyou for this video the information is going to really help me with my lessons I fall apart every time during lane changes but I think these knowledge gaps I had were the cause
It takes time to get used to what traffic looks like in the mirror, at first it just looks like there are cars everywhere and it can be hard to judge. But if you spend some time in the left lane of a two + lane dual carriage way you will start to get used to what you are seeing.
@@ConquerDriving I actually have to change lanes regularly in my lessons but thinking back I’m always trying to judge the distance with my right mirror but I think if I use the middle mirror more it’s going to be much easier to figure out the distance and speed they are moving
Awesome video Richard! Everything explained in the best way possible and fun to watch as well. I've got my final driving exam comming up and your videos really helped me out a lot! Thank you and please don't stop posting.
I really enjoy learning from your videos as you always have helpful visuals and show learners what to do. I've practiced driving on the road for about 20hrs now but I still find changing lanes really scary. I usually take my foot off the break, look for too long and/or drift into a different lane cos my arms turn when I check my blindspot (sometimes onto the other side of the road) so I don't have much confidence in my driving ability. Could you also make a video where you're changing lanes on a main road (not a motorway or freeway)? I get even more anxious because the speed limit is usually 60km/h on these roads but the cars are much closer together so I don't know how to judge when it's a safe distance to overtake. I can be quite jerky with my wheel because of this :(
Great empathy and sensitivity to the mindset and attitudes of Learner drivers. This is what sets your videos above others on YT. Keep it up.
Thank you.

Ive been driving for the past 3years
But due to covid my driving test kept getting postponed.
Its only this feb that i got my license. But again haven't been driving due to lockdown and so.
I've been binge watching your videos to keep learning
I hope the videos help!
@@ConquerDriving definitely
You're doing a great job
Wish my driver instructor like you ❤️❤️❤️
Thankyou for this video the information is going to really help me with my lessons I fall apart every time during lane changes but I think these knowledge gaps I had were the cause
Thank you, I'll keep doing it.
wow, you teach way better than my driver instructor. Thanks for making these videos!
You're welcome ☺
I can be quite jerky with my wheel because of this :(
I will add it to the consideration list, but the same guidance applies.
