Hi Carlos, I’ve had my license for a long time but rarely drive as I get so nervous and anxious. I binge watched some of your videos this week and finally got the courage to drive. I drove from NYC to NJ. Everything went well, except I missed my exit, but that just meant extra practice before getting home. 😊 Seriously, you explain things so well. I was watching your videos next to an experienced driver and even they learned from you. Thank you for the work you do.
Yesterday the car behind me in the next lane decided to speed up last minute to close the space and blocked me when I was about to merge. After he overtook me he had to immediately slow down because there was traffic ahead. I had to slam on the brake and almost hit the concrete wall because my lane was ending. I always learned that "drivers on the highway would make room for you for the safety of both of you." Apparently not, some people just want to get ahead at all cost. I was stunned.
There are idiots on the road unfortunately. Most people will give you a chance, but there is a lot of stupid people out there and there's nothing we can do about it.
Me too i get nervous when merging especially from 50 km to 100 km highway some people wont let you merge and its not suppose to be like that suppose to be kind and polite and share the road because 10 seconds of them letting us pass through or merge wont make much difference in their life
I watched most of the driving videos here, but this is the best guy in explaining details of the driving. Not all the teachers in the world can convey their knowledge to the students. I want to be a better driver, that is why I subscribed to this channel!
Thank you so much Carlos for helping me to understand and to put into practice what I learned from your videos. After only three lessons I took my test today and PASSED!! At 60 yrs old, I couldn't have done it without your help! God bless you!
I don’t know why driving highways gives me so much anxiety. I’ve been driving for about a year now but still get flustered going at those speeds and always need someone in the car with me to keep me calm. I go exactly the speed limit and get passed constantly lol. I just feel especially nervous knowing that at higher speeds reaction time is cut in half and the margin for error grows as you or the car in front could lose control at any time. I don’t get it when I hear people say that driving on highways is easier/calming for them. I hopefully can get to that point but I doubt it.😅. (Thank you for much for these videos. I’ve learned so much.)
I understand and I am a little scared too but just remember we are amazing, capable, and awesome people. Remember we have always overcame obstacles in life and will continue doing so!
I was scared too but my first time doing it wasn’t even bad😂now my instructor lets me drive on the highway every time it’s really a good way to learn lane changing and to learn how to make a habit of always checking your mirrors coming from a person with anxiety you’ll be okay👌🏽
Very nice video. I'm looking forward to the second part. I'll sum up my thoughts/experience on this topic. 1) Merging - I make sure there is enough room between me and the vehicle infront of me, because if it does not handle merging and hits the brakes I have a problem too. - When in the merging line I always check the situations on the highway so I know if I have to press the gas pedal (normal traffic) or slow down (heavy traffic). - I've had a few situations where I could not merge by the end of the merging lane so I recommend driving on and merging afterwards. The worst thing you can do is to stop and try to merge from 0 km/h to a lane where cars go at least 100 km/h. 2) Exiting - When your exit is approaching, look far ahead so you know there is room for you to the exit the highway. The worst thing you can do is to drive in the left lane and exit the highway at the very last moment. Very dangerous. - If you cannot safely exit the highway at your desired exit, exit it at the next one.
Your last line, words of wisdom. Same thing if you can't turn at a particular intersection when driving in the city. Just turn at the next one. I'll discuss exiting in the next video (or the one after that)
I can't thank you enough for these videos, man! I've always had an extreme fear of driving but I find your videos so helpful and easy to understand. It's really helping me get over my fears. Thank you so much!!!!

Nice that you have uploaded a new video. Passed my driving exam last week and your videos helped a lot during my preparations for the exam.. Your videos about driving vision is by far the most helpful I have seen. Cheers!
I'm happy to read this comment. Videos about vision are not the most searched, yet vision is THE single most important thing in driving. And congrats on your exam.
Changing lanes and merging into highway are a real panic for me 😔😔 no matter how many times I did that! I wish time comes when I can drive smoothly without tension
just breath easier said then done but breathing and doing everything you already know helps. You know to stay in your lane, follow the speed limit, continue breathing, know eventually you will get off highway. Recommend short highway trips at first.
I been driving for almost 7 years now. And for the most part of it, I had avoided driving on the highway and learning how to drive on the highway. I have a crippling phobia and would get nightmares about it. Since last year, I had decided to start conquering this fear of mine. My progress is quite slow. I gotten on the highway a handful of time usually early morning with less traffic. I haven't been comfortable enough to drive on the highway during the daytime or even the nighttime. I'm looking to be more serious about my practices.
@@Valeria.... I drove out of town for the first time a month ago. I did have my wife in the car with me, so I felt good. I'm driving on the highway during early morning. But I'm going to try to drive it for work now.
your videos are super helpful. you explain everything really well and its super easy to understand! your videos make me feel less anxious about driving on the freeway for the first time.
Usually under normal conditions you should always be near to ~90kmph before merging and adapt to speed when u enter the lane. On exit just take your foot of the gas pedal and maintain safe speed. Posted sign is safe speed and not a speed limit. Dont slow down too much as examiner will fail u.
Thank you so much, Because of all the videos i have watched on youtube, am now able to either drive alone or with a passenger on the highway. Thank you
Im so scared to even drive on regular streets and drive on turns. I love going the city but im sure itll take me a while to feel comfortable doing that but your videos have helped my nerves!!
Had a guy comment on a video he was mad at the cop for giving him a ticket cause he went 83mph on the on the on ramp when highway speed was 65mph. Lol like some people try to justify that you were speeding bud
Carlos man you are helping me so much im a new driver just got my license at 36 still nervous to drive but watching your videos is helping me a lot thank you for your help
With caution and practice you get better. I would get anxiety just thinking about merging and would avoid highways until I had to take the highway to go to work. What helped me is using the same merging entrance to get to work helped me get familiar and better at merging.

Thank you for this video, I "was" an experienced driver CDL, but haven't driven anything for 7 years, and to be honest I'm feeling nervous about freeway driving.
The driver is also driving in Montreal where other drivers are known to be agressive. Hes teaching you in the toughest conditions lol. Great job. bon video frère
great explanations! everything is clear. understandable and accessible. special thanks for the driving culture. "thank you" on the road. "give way" and in general, the centuries are not alone on the road. Be polite!
Hi! Im a new subscriber of your YT channel. I watched all your video to prepare for my full G road test, which happened yesterday. As a experienced driver, I would say its very hard to correct a bad habit (driving skill) specially if your used to it already. i followed all your tips specifically defensive driving. luckily, I made. I pass the test.from G1 to full g. Thank you sir!
You have one of the best videos on merging. When i go to work each day on our freeway, I usually stay on the right lane as I'll eventually need to exit to that side. However, as I get close to each merging lane where vehicles are entering from my right, I often find the merging vehicle lines up with me and then tries to merge straight sideways into my passenger door instead of speeding up a little to go in front (lots of room) or slow down a little bit to drop in behind me (lots of room). It doesn't seem logical when traffic is flowing at the speed limit to constantly need to brake to let them when they do that even though it's easy for them to speed up and get in front or drop behind me. I want to be courteous and safe, so I end up having to slow down to let them in. I'm more than happy to let them in, but am I supposed to brake to let them in ahead or are they supposed to be the ones who speed up or slow down a little to get in the traffic moving at full speed. Maybe I'm the one who is working on wrong information so I'd like to hear what you say.
Before getting on merge lane you should already have a good idea about the traffic density and speed of surrounding viechle, by observing ahead before entering highway. Chase the last passed front car on the left side lane. - you r safe if you catch it. Speed up as soon as you r on acceleration lane. (Things get simpler once your on same speed with others) Check rear mirror to know the distance. Check twice to know its speed. (May see some people may switch to another lane to let you come out) Merge as soon as possible. Don't wait. Don't let the rear car merge before me (merge before rear car merge or it will get complicated)
Saying that people dont usually give big trucks a chance to switch lanes made me sad. :( I haven't started driving yet but when I do, I'll definitely give them a chance! Im gonna be a sweet driver :)
#1 rule ACCELLERATE! you should be going freeway speed before you enter the freeway. thats why they give you a 1/4 mile long onramp.... unless your on the 101
Yes and some idiot always wants me to slow so they can get over when someone else is riding my ass. If your getting on the hwy you must yield especially if it's a line with cars behind and in front don't assume you will all simply be allowed in during traffic. You should fit in by going the correct speed. I should never have to brake hard to stop because you failed to yield before entering the hwy. A turn signal is also a good idea
@@vapeking466yes and best to do is let off break if they’re already ahead to let them speed more than carry on. When the merging lane is short traffic does need to leave space to help or else mergers can’t do anything
Adapting to speed is one of my biggest issues because everyone's varies so much. Maybe it's just the limited areas I've been, but if the speed limit is 70mph, most people are going 80mph+ and others are doing way too slow at 60mph.. there's never really a decent average. The fact that so many people think 70 mph is "slow" is why I avoid highways. I'm a very good driver on all other roads, but the highways give me crazy anxiety.
"Don't give the opportunity to the people behind you to make your life more complicated" is more of a life lesson than a driving lesson.
Driving is part of life.
The person behind you screwing you over has nothing to do with you being safe, it's a problem with the other person not having a collective view of traffic, society, etc.
This individualistic view is what fucks everything up, on the road or in life as a whole.

0:35 Check left mirror and then check again to see if vehicle is larger or smaller to tell their speed and if you can merge in
Yes
This gives me so much anxiety.
Watch this one then: ruclips.net/video/vLMgBWlfqYI/видео.html
@@ConduiteFacile Wow Thank you.
just breath easier said then done but breathing and doing everything you already know helps. You know to stay in your lane, follow the speed limit, continue breathing, know eventually you will get off highway. Recommend short highway trips at first.
No Same
I been driving for almost 7 years now.
How are you doing now?
@@Valeria.... I drove out of town for the first time a month ago. I did have my wife in the car with me, so I felt good. I'm driving on the highway during early morning. But I'm going to try to drive it for work now.
Passed my test first time because of these videos !!
Nice. Congrats!
your videos are super helpful. you explain everything really well and its super easy to understand! your videos make me feel less anxious about driving on the freeway for the first time.
the “run after them” helped me a lot to understand how to match the speed of traffic
I like driving in the highway a lot more. Driving in cities or towns just gives me a lot of anxiety.
Usually under normal conditions you should always be near to ~90kmph before merging and adapt to speed when u enter the lane. On exit just take your foot of the gas pedal and maintain safe speed. Posted sign is safe speed and not a speed limit. Dont slow down too much as examiner will fail u.
Thank god I’ve been waiting for this for a long time. Thank you very much!
Thank you so much, Because of all the videos i have watched on youtube, am now able to either drive alone or with a passenger on the highway. Thank you
I just passed my drivers test and now I am watching this videos to help me merge better on the highway or Freeway.
Im so scared to even drive on regular streets and drive on turns. I love going the city but im sure itll take me a while to feel comfortable doing that but your videos have helped my nerves!!
Who else has major anxiety driving on the highway? How to feel more confident?
I’m in my forties and still terrified of highways, I freak when I need to merge so here I am ! Lol
This video needs to be used in driver educational classes. Nobody knows how to drive at all
- Definitely. Extremely detailed & informative.
Had a guy comment on a video he was mad at the cop for giving him a ticket cause he went 83mph on the on the on ramp when highway speed was 65mph. Lol like some people try to justify that you were speeding bud
highway driving is so scary. i don’t know how people do it
This content is a goldmine
Carlos man you are helping me so much im a new driver just got my license at 36 still nervous to drive but watching your videos is helping me a lot thank you for your help
I get anxiety just watching this video 😭 dont wanna think of me actually having to do it 😭
With caution and practice you get better. I would get anxiety just thinking about merging and would avoid highways until I had to take the highway to go to work. What helped me is using the same merging entrance to get to work helped me get familiar and better at merging.
Me too 😢

Same 🥺
I do what this brother says on his videos n i pass my test.n am confident on the road.thank you.✌🏽
Congrats!
Drivers who block others from merging are such trash.
You have to wonder what happened to them to get that way.
Thank you for this. The best video on Mergin onto the highway
You sir have helped past my drivers test and for that I’m very grateful
Well congrats!
Hi! conduits Facile, thanks for ur valuable videos, ur details & clear explanations benefit me a lot, I passed the G road test just 3 hrs before in Downsview, I watched ur videos many many times, luckily the weather was good , it took about 16 mins for the whole test, I will share ur videos to my friends, thanks again 😃😃
Cool. Congrats and keep sharing. Thanks.
This is clutch, I was just looking at your other Highway vids. Great stuff
"Don't give the opportunity to the people behind you to make your life more complicated." 3:35
That applies to many things in life lmao
This video was exactly what I was looking for all the other merging videos show you how to do it in light traffic you give us examples for all conditions
Nice video, lots of good tips and advice for new drivers.
I think you've got the best driving videos on youtube.
Thanks.
Be polite!
Im a beginner and I really appreciate what ur doing here... it extremely helpful for me! Thank you sm for all ur efforts 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
You're so welcome!
BRUH THIS GUY IS SO HELPFUL THANK YOU!
Thanks!
Congrats. And yes, the longer you do something incorrectly, the better you become at doing it incorrectly.
First video that actually made me feel confident rather than "Watch out because it's the most dangerous thing you can do in life!"
Great teacher, I watched your videos before my road test and it helped to pass my test
Congrats!
Thank you for the video .Some excellent clues you don't find anywhere else.
Thank you Carlos! Your teaching skills in driving helps a long way.
U r very smart teacher I have learnt alot from.u
Thank you so much, this relieved so much of my highway anxiety.
I love all your videos. I learn a lot. Thanks to you❤️
I love you voice and the way you explain everything ❤
Thank you for the easy to understand explanation! I was very confused by my instructor 😅
Before getting on merge lane you should already have a good idea about the traffic density and speed of surrounding viechle, by observing ahead before entering highway.
Chase the last passed front car on the left side lane. - you r safe if you catch it.
Speed up as soon as you r on acceleration lane. (Things get simpler once your on same speed with others)
Check rear mirror to know the distance. Check twice to know its speed. (May see some people may switch to another lane to let you come out)
Merge as soon as possible. Don't wait.
Don't let the rear car merge before me (merge before rear car merge or it will get complicated)
Saying that people dont usually give big trucks a chance to switch lanes made me sad. :(
I haven't started driving yet but when I do, I'll definitely give them a chance!
Im gonna be a sweet driver :)
I recently got my license and I am going to drive by myself for the first time, I'm so nervous haha
You the best teacher I ever saw in my life thank you so 👍much
Thank you for making the driver that won't get out of the way at 3:16 that particular type of truck. Accurate!
Merging highway make me nervous but if i am already in the lane i feel good .watching your videos always
Great Video as always.. Please make a video on hill road driving and hill start red-light tips..
But ppl behind me would just cut through solid line... 😅
Thanks for teaching us how to merge on the highway.
