Great video.. Not yet watched it but probably gonna be great
The r/gaminglaptops sub really doesn't like me using your deals website, i got 3 warning from the mod
but the shipping and taxes kill any deals that might be useful. stupid eu with their stupid taxes.
@@jeji5860 Oh really, that's interesting considering they told me I can post it as much as I like :/
@@JarrodsTech it was fine before but this week i got 3 warnings for posting your website link to people looking for a new laptop, they said i was profiting from the link
Nahhh, no way u put the same thumbnail again
Is there any point spending time holding some other stack of laptops and editing it again 😅😅
What video?
@@JarrodsTech thought we wouldn't notice, but we did 😂😂
@@JarrodsTech Absolutely ! Us viewers pay for those laptops !
@@JarrodsTech Personally I don't care that much about thumbnails, if it's a hassle, don't need to change it :)
Our boy isn't even waiting for the year to end. I hope next month you do a video for "back to school" type thing. Last year I saw discounts and thought dang, that's pretty good, but probably artificially raised then reduced prices, I'll just wait a couple of months and then some more and the prices never dropped since that deal and I kinda regret it
We did a mid-year update last year and people liked that, so here we are again :)
@@JarrodsTech ahh shiet, here we go again
What can I say? The middle of the year is just the best time to buy things.
Thanks for the videos, man. I always watch them while working out or have them as podcasts for cleaning.
Love my 23 legion 5 w/ 13700hx and 4070!! Thx for your reviews...I did a lot of research and shopping...you helped out...BIG TIME!!
I been waiting for this video, thank you very much Jarrod!!! Are you by any chance going to review the 2024 Legion Pro 7i ?
I've got myself a legion pro 5i(2023) model with 13700HX and 4060 last month with the help of your video, the performance is really good and especially the temps are way good for the hot climate in my country rn(around 30-35 C), CPU hovers around 80-90C and GPU within 65-80 C even while heavy gaming, Thanks Jarrod for the valuable reviews
Undervolting both will help you much
I am planning to buy Acer Predator Helios Neo 1624 i7 14th generation rtx 4060, this laptop is good or not?
@@divakaranmano5878 probably yes but look at closely to the performance of the 4060/4070 in comparison to the 4080. if you can wait for another 1-2 months and save a bit more money : try to get the 4070/80
the new 2024 pro 7i honestly has been perfect for my use case, the 4090 packs a punch and the shortcuts to swap the refresh rate are useful when i gotta use the battery. build quality also crazy good
I always take your recommendations seriously
Thank you bro
Cheers!
Thanks for pointing out that 2023 machines are still worthy picks. With very little changing year over year especially considering that GPUs aren't being refreshed, it's worth saving money and picking last year's machine, and using the savings to get extra RAM if needed or software and accessories, or just pocket it. I'm a more Thinkpad than gaming laptop kind of person though. Good vid and looking forward to the end of year round up. 👍
Cheers! Yeah lots of 2023 models defiintely still worth checking out, I mean I did do that "don't buy a 2024 gaming laptop" video not long ago haha
I m thinking of buying a loq with r7 7840hs and 4060 as my budget is like 1100 budget

Bought the Pro 5I from last year based on your rankings from last year, and it still hasn't dissapointed!
hello jarrod love your work i was wondering if its possible to compare lenovo legion with ideapads or loqs of similar specs
When I was searching to buy my new rig, I watched many videos.. but your videos made me sign the deal on my '24 Legion 7i, been loving it ever since I got it for the past month and it completely fulfilled my hardware needs as well as portability needs. Thanks for your help
Glad to hear it's going well, and that I was able to help!
good content , I'm just wanna ask if i buy dell g3 i would face the thermal throttling or not. and how is the temps in this laptop ? worth to buy it
Jarrod, on the Helios, are you able to adjust power limits when holding down FN+Tab then pressing the power button to get into an advanced bios? And will we get a review video for the Helios 18 since it was in the graphs in the recent videos?
I was going to buy my first laptop tomorrow. I really needed this video . I was gonna buy Lenovo legion 7i but I wasn't sure but this video helped to finalize my choice thanks so much🫶🏿
I have the Acer Helios 16(not Neo 16), and I'm super happy with it! Like you said, the main downside is battery life, which is about 2 hours for me. I take my laptop to the library for school everyday though, and it is indeed portable, even with the very large power brick. 😂
Thanks for continue making quality videos!
I went with the Gen 8 Slim 7i last october and added a Slim 5 14 last month. I'm happy with both and everybody knows them well I guess.
I'll wait for a bigger generation leap than from 23 to 24 happened (yet).
Best wishes and greetings from Gemany 🖐🏻
Hey Jarrod, great video as always!
I had a doubt tho, I was looking at the Legion slim 5 r7-7735HS + rtx 4070 version (1195$) but also noticed the r7-8845HS + rtx 4060 version (1121$) on sale on the website. Which one would you recommend? (my main use case is 3-d modelling and hope to pursue video editing as my hobby in college) Would highly appreciate if you could post a review video on the r7-8845HS version! Thanks a lot in advance!
For gaming 4070 is like 20% faster than 4060, this will make more of a difference in most titles than the CPU difference, and the GPU power for your 3D work makes it the better choice too.
@@JarrodsTech Okay, will keep that in mind, thanks a lot. I also wanted to ask about the A16 (r7-7735HS + rx7700s) which is close to 920$ where I live and whether the rx7700s can compete with rtx 4070, moreover whether its a reliable laptop since I have seen so many people online complaining about plenty of software issues and issues with wifi card etc. It would be great to hear your opinion on this. Thanks in advance!
I just bought a Legion Slim 5 with an RTX 4060, 32GB RAM, Ryzen 7 7845HS, and a 1TB SSD for $1313. I tried to buy the Lenovo 14'' OLED, but it was impossible
The OLED One has a good sale atm but keeps going out of stock fast, at least in the US
@@JarrodsTech Exactly, the problem is that in my case I can't wait because I don't live in the US. Very sad, I fell in love with the OLED but it was not possible
The oled 14" is 980$ atm at best buy
@@cenation7mjc there is stock? 4 days ago there is no stock
@@Hechizero459 it is atm yes and has been there on sale since july 1 when the slim 5 16" sale ended

Hey jarrod, 2 years ago you were recommending the tuf a15 over the legion 5, but now it's being compared more to the loq series and other budget laptops, with the legion 5 being seen as universally better, but I don't feel like the legions have improved that much the last 2 years other than specs. Any reason for this? Did the tufs get worse?
Just ordered a Legion 5i Pro! Excited to have it in my hands
I've ordered Zephyrus G16 IPS variant due to RAM constraints.... Excited for it
Awesome video Jarrod as always 🥰. Im from New Zealand and have just ordered the new Legion Pro 5i (16″, Gen 9) which comes with RTX 4060 GPU and the Intel i9-14900HX CPU. Can't wait to receive it. So excited 😚. Keep up the videos my man 🤩.
Thanks! Hope the new laptop goes well 👍
Just bought a Legion 5i based on your full review video, great deal and it flies through everything I'm throwing at it!
Your laptop videos are on point Jarrod
Cheers!
I was considering that Glacier White Legion 7 but my local Best Buy had last year’s Legion Slim 7i open box in excellent condition for $1080. Can’t beat that value vs $1999 for the new model.
Cracking video!
Thanks!
Your channel is really becoming interesting as time goes😊❤ on
Hey thanks
I opted in for the g16 this year after upgrading from a 5 year old dell g5. The ram is soldered and not too much but it’ll be fine for college and for the amount of gaming I do tbh.
Hey jarrod been a fan scince long time . Can pls revie tuf a16 2023 advantage with rx7700s
Would be great if you could do a video on the best gaming/hybrid laptops with decent battery life for work.
glad to see HELIOS making good things again... still using a 2019 one with recent cleaning and runs really good!! But I'm a mad content creator and probably will switch to 2024 to have more power
Cheers snape
Thank you for the video. Very interesting 🙂.
Can you advise me. I want to buy a laptop: Acer Predator Helios 18 | PH18-72. (i9-14900HX, 64 GB, DDR5, GeForce RTX™ 4090 met 16 GB). Is this a good laptop? Or is it better to buy: ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 18 (2024) or MSI Raider GE78 HX 14VHG?
Hey Jarrod. I don't know if you've tested it ( did a quick search and no American reviewers showed up ), but I think that the Avell's Storm Series (both Go and X) would make pretty good contenders for top five notebooks. Avell is a Brazilian notebook maker that recently launched the Storm line, and from what I've seen from Brazilian reviewers, it has quite the sturdy construction and interesting features not a lot of other makers put into theirs.
I've got the Legion Slim 7 and I love it. Just the perfect blend of high performance, premium build quality and decent portability. Love it. Will wait a few years before getting a new gaming laptop but I will 100% be looking at Lenovo Legion again!
I followed your advice and bought the 2023 Strix G16 with i913980HX & RTX 4060 with massive discount, so happy with this beast of a machine. Thank you for clearing my confusion.
no way i was looking for this yday thanks lad
Good timing!
Hi. Which one is the most silent, with Cyberpunk high+RTX setup or any kind of other daily usage, with high gpu demand? (I use an ASUS A17 2022, AMD 6800H, RTX3060 (140W), and bought in 2022. June in Hungary. )
Asus and Lenovo are dominating this list. 😎
As a legion owner myself, also had a G15 AE, I'm not complaining, definitely good laptops.
Yeah they did a decent job last year too, MSI/Dell/Alienware/Razer don't seem to make the lists.
@@JarrodsTech I might've miss it but, this are the only ones you reviewed in 2024, right? Does it changes your 1 hour video of best gaming laptop 2023?
@@JarrodsTech Indeed, I feel like MSI is only ever good at pretty high price points (obviously so are alienware and razer) but Dell used to be pretty good too at entry or mid pricing... Too bad for the lack of competition. Anyway, Bought a Legion 5 17 back in 2021 thanks to your vid and now rocking a G14 2023, thank you for your hard work, you saved me a lot of trouble! Have a great day!

@@JarrodsTech alright thanks
Hey jarrod! What do you think of the Aorus 17x 2024
I think it's the same as 2023 just with a "new" 14th gen CPU, so whatever I said in the review last year probably applies.
Can you review the upcoming G16 with the AMD chip? There hasn't been many AMD laptops out this year.
Hey Jarrod! Can you take your time and review the best student laptops in the price ranges of $500-600? The "most bang for the buck" option I mean.
I know it is a last year laptop, but if you are able to could you do a review on the ASUS TUF gaming A16 with the ryzen 9 7940hs RX 7700? Or an updated the A16 7735hs RX 7600 to the 7735hs RX 7700 since that unit is more readily available in my area.
Looking for a second hand laptops. What're some good older gen laptops I can get?
Also how would you rate the 2024 lenovo loq 15?
I'm actually working on a video about buying used laptops. I think the 2024 LOQ is quite good for a budget option.
@@JarrodsTech would be interesting if you also included 2021 and 2022 laptops as well
You should do these videos using a Rank of money, for example: Best Laptops from $1000 to $2000 and then >2000, also you can do best laptops< 1000. Its my opinion, basically the videos using an amount of money are really useful when you have a good budget and catch attention a lot.
Hey Jarrod, in your Gaming Laptop setup video you mentioned that you'd prefer fresh clean installation of windows for your personal laptop. Can you do a video on that, particularly about downloading system drivers and other software that come up with laptop in factory state after clean installation. I know there are some videos out there, but if you could do a video on that, I would have no more doubts and would just simply follow your steps.
Probably not going to do a specific guide about that sorry. It's basically "next next finish", pretty boring really.
@@JarrodsTech yeah no problem man, but can you tell me whether drivers get automatically installed after installing windows? Or do i need to do that manually? What about chipset drivers and iGPU graphic drivers?
Hello Sir, thank you very much for all the information you provide about gaming laptops. Can you review the Dell G 16 gaming laptop? I was going to buy Lenovo Legion 5 9th gen but I'm in Japan so the keyboard and OS is in Japanese default. Only Dell website in Japan have option to choose us keyboard and OS so far I know.
We covered it in a review last year, I think it's not changed enough to justify us getting it in again and spending a couple weeks making the review sorry - check last year's video :)
I'd like a Legion 7i Pro from last year as towards the end of the year it was around €1000 cheaper than the new one but since the new model came out it seems impossible to get a gen 8 model.
Any ideas? Do you have to go second hand/used?
The new gen 9 model is almost 3.5k in Belgium.😭
Hi please do a review of firebat t6a-x, laptop. It ll help thanks
Can you do a comparison between the omen 14, zephyrus g14 and legion 14?
If I ever have the money buy one , I always will thank this youtuber for recommending this gold just likee how I got my nitro V
Hey thanks!
Jarrod, are you planning to test one of the 2024 year versions of ASUS tuf a16? They seem like a good deal in general.
Maybe if we can get the Zen 5 version that's coming out in a couple weeks. Otherwise the TUF F15 with 4060 just arrived here yesterday, which is the Intel verison of the same thing.
Hey Jarrod I'd love to see Tarkov as a benchmark game in your videos
I was deciding between lenovo loq 15 I5-13500 w/ a 4050 and acer predator helios neo 16. I went with the loq since it was cheaper with the same specs. Would you say that I made a good choice?
Depends on what display you chose. Just full specs bc that lenovo can be just as expensive as a Legion 5 with an I7 and RTX 4060
Hopefully these all have good hinge designs and arnt gonna break after a year of usage
Looking forward to a G16 and Legion pro 7i review!
I think it's finally ariving next week, the G16 that is, been waiting 6 months on ASUS..

Glad to hear it!
Love how you consider last years models are sometimes the same or better and recommend them to save money. I do the same all the time, why by the latest and greatest which is often way over priced from the go.
Yeah it just makes sense in a lot of cases if performance is much the same 👍
Please try to review Nitro 16. Thank you in advance
No way you post this less than 24hr after I buy mine 😭 I feel validated seeing the legion slim 5 I got is on the list though
Jarrod can you review the Triton 14 miniLED please 👏
Hey Jarrod! I was looking to buy a gaming laptop. My current options were a legion slim 5(32gigs of ram) ...legion pro 5(7745hx)...legion 5i. They're all around the same range in my country maybe differing by 100-150 dollars. Also I can customise the legion 5i for it to be an i9 14900hx and 4070, will there be any issues with that model or it'll be worth it cuz it costs maybe only 50 dollars more than the pro and the normal 5i.
I’m not sure if gpu is the same on all? That matters more for gaming. Not sure on CPU difference as we’ve never had a 7745hx
@@JarrodsTech the base variants are all with a 4060 but only the 5i is customised to be an i9 14900hx and 4070. As for the legion pro 5 it's with a ryzen 7 7745hx. Also the slim 5 is with ryzen 7 8845hs and 4060. They're all between the 1800 to 2000 dollars range (they're pretty costly in my country).
Super cool T-shirt bruh
Hey jarrod what do think of the omen 16, non transcend one, I found one with r5 4050 for $800
Don't have an opinion of it as haven't been able to get it and test it out, but I believe it's a higher quality machine similar in tier to Lenovo Legion series, so $800 for a higher end 4050 is a decent price yeah.
Hi Jarrod, still waiting for your review of MSI Raider 18HX. Gonna save money to get it soon. Btw, have been watching you for 3 years :D Always great video
Thanks! We asked MSI for it a while ago, they don't have one in our country and are trying to get it for us, so still waiting for now!
@@JarrodsTech Thank you for the update. The Scar 17 AMD with RTX 4080 is currently priced attractively in my country. Would you recommend it? How is the build and performance? I'm considering for long-term use.
@@JarrodsTech hi Jarrod, please respond to this
Finding in stock gaming laptops in Canada is crazy right now. I want that white Legion 7i, I found a black one on sale I might jump on. But it has a 4070.
I opted for a custom yoga 9i with a 4070 and 32GB, with mini-led display for 3.6k as an EOFY price.
What do you think?
yo is acer nitro 16 with ryzen nine and 4070 a good computer(also thinking abt upgrqding ram to 32 gig)
I was just watching the 2023 version, crazy!
🤯
i have the legion 7i with the 4060 i got from best buy for 1400. I'm surprised how good it actually is. I wanted the 4070 version but I just couldn't justify it 600 more for a 4070 when all I am going to use this thing for is WoW and video editing when I'm on the go.
Hey Jarrod,
I'm trying to decide between the Legion 7i and Legion 5 Pro, both with the i9-14900HX and RTX 4070. The prices are similar, so it's all about performance.
I checked the Legion 5i Pro and found that it can sustain an average CPU power of 140W (10 mins stress test) in Cinebench r23, while the Legion 7i can sustain around 104W. The L7i scores 27k, and the L5P can score 29k. This is just a 2k score difference but a 40w difference.
How does this translate to real-world performance? Your help is much appreciated.
My primary use is demanding workloads, so slimness isn't a priority.
The 5 will probably perform better, if my recent non pro review is anything to go by. The non pro 5 is thicker and can boost CPU power limit higher, so more performance, I really like the portability of the 7 but that's me and performance is still great. That difference would be quite small in real world tasks I'd imagine.
@@JarrodsTech thanks a lot ❤ would be like 10-20 percent difference or more than that?
I'm looking forward to the AMD Strix Laptops and maybe there will be some without discrete graphics, to make it super portable.
And at home you could use a usb hub with a graphicscard.
That would be awesome
interesting tactic of taper in and then up the list. mb
I bought the Lenovo Legion 7i earlier this year (13th gen cpu 2023 model). Man I love this laptop never thought mobile gaming would have been this pleasant with basically no compromise. My only issue with this laptop, and I am thinking it is a windows related issue, you can fully switch off the dGPU without first putting the laptop to sleep.
Hey Jarrod. Hope you're fine
I know this is irrelevant but i have a hp omen 16 with the 4060 and the ryzen 7 7840h. It's touchpad sometimes stop working out of nowhere. Do you know the reason?
The nitro 17 With the i7 and 4060 is pretty solid so far. I've had it for about a year and it goes for around 1000.
Glad to hear it!

Waited months for this video.
Could you do a review of the 2024 predator Helios 18 with the 4090 and the mini LED please?
We have it, might do a small video at some point, but not sure if it's enough of a change over the 2024 model to justify a video - you can get all the screen data for the Mini LED version at jarrods.tech/gaming-laptops-with-best-screens/
@@JarrodsTechThanks for the response Jarrod. The reason I was asking was because I haven't found any helpful review videos from that 2024 model with the RTX 4090 w/ mini led and I think you are the most thorough and informative of all the tech channels that review laptops. I don't even think the 4080 version has a mini LED option, so I was trying to weigh the pros and cons of the two different GPU models.
