    Hope this helps someone. Searched gaming laptops like crazy for 4 months before I bought a new one 1 month ago (upgraded from MSI 63thin 1660Ti) to Lenovo Legion slim 5 with 4070 and a Ryzen 7840HS. Screen 2560x1600, (QHD). Reviews said some bad stuff and some good stuff about the CPU and GPU but man let me tell you it runs smooth as butter on every game. Thermal has not been a problem at all. What I want to tell people with this comment is just do the amount of research you want but after a while just go for it. Because someone will still say the comp is bad either way.

      Was this a Gen 8? I haven't seen the Legion Slim 5 with 4070. I'm leaning towards the 7840HS+4060 Gen 8. Gen 9 is starting to be available, but pricing is a bit more for the 8845HS+4070 than I'm looking to spend. (My Nitro 7 suffered hinge failure recently, so looking to move up from 10750+1660ti - though I will miss the triple m.2 configuration) 5 months ago I was waiting for the Acer PH16 i7/4070 to drop back to good sale pricing... now I'm hinge-salty.

While I hardly ever game on it, as I utilize my desktop computer for that, the HP Omen means a lot to me emotionally as it's my backup just in case I'm unemployed and my desktop computer crashes. Laptops were initially manufactured with a CPU socket, just like they are now on motherboards. However, they soon started soldering them, understandably, as it generated more profit. After experiencing significant heating issues with older models, users were told that the CPU had failed and that they needed to buy a new laptop. Meanwhile, companies were refurbishing (CPU reballing) and reselling the same laptops. Today, laptops generate less heat and have fewer breakdowns, but the reballing method remains the same. That's why we don't drive cars on hydrogen but on fuel :).

I know you discussed it plenty and it turned out to be basically equal to 3070ti, but in Legion 5 pro 2023 review you published, the 1% low was actually much worse than 3070ti. I know this probably isn't the answer but just trying to help I'd say if you don't currently have a 3000 series laptop, 4060 or 4070 are no-brainers, great bang for the buck ( even though the 4060 is better when thinking about cost-benefit ) but even if it costs a lot more the 4080 or 4090 are much better choices ( I'll buy a 4080 one myself next year, the improvement from my current 3060 is around 108%, not taking into account the processor, ram differences and everything else pretty much ).

      Thanks, I appreciate your answer. Currently rocking a 3070 legion 5, I am still pondering if I should get a 4070 laptop (with current BF sales + re-selling the current one, the upgrade would not cost me much) or go for a 4080 (EU prices for these are atrocious)

      @fleurdewin7958 Год назад

      @@andreabeccarisi1126 4070 is just a bad deal for mobile. The thing is, usually it cost almost 300 Euro to step up from 4060 to 4070 but you don't get more VRAM or a significant performance boost. I'll say its either 4060 or 4080 for mobile, skip the 4070. 4070 to 4080 is such a significant step up in performance that it is actually worth it if you can afford.

    1) Gpu can't be replaced, so choosing a good GPU is important
    2) Cpu or processor which is the brain of the laptop is also important as some games requires more cpu than Gpu
    3) Ram and ssd is also important -> 1 TB ( For ram we can upgrade, but cpu and GPU we can't upgrade so choose wisely)
    4) Size of lap (14,15,16) easily portable, 17 & 18 tough
    5) Screen
    i) Brightness (300-500 nits)
    ii) high refresh rate -> 144hz refresh rate
    Iii) low response rate under 10ms
    Iv) high color gamut -> 90% of srgb covering
    v) Resolution - 1080p for small size 1440 for large size
    V) good resolution
    6) Battery - big laps contain big batteries and small laps contain small
    7) check what were all the ports are available
    8) check detailed reviews

    Tips 1 : don't buy msi ?
    With my 2013 MsI laptops that I love and still running fine. I replaced GPU and battery it was so easy like a dekstop.
    I'm kinda disappointed how the brand headed with their new products. With motherboard soldering components and seems less time proof if something went wrong.
    I don't like the USB shrink and position and heard the quality diminished when the price goes up.
    Honestly I could buy a under 1000€ laptop the performance difference will be astounding compared to a 2013 gaming PC. especially playing in 1080p 60fps only. Maybe it's time to have my first desktop PC. For now my Xbox series X and ps5 acquisition help to cope with a 2013 gaming PC that is still running great for games released to 2019 max.

    8:18 i finalized my choice but there are no reviews on youtube. Asus tuf f15 i7 13620h + 4060. 😢 But i saw i7 12th gen H + 4060 those laptop reviews ao those all are good. So i am thinking this newer asus tuf f15 i7 13620h + 4060 also plays real good.

    I recently picked up a Nitro 5 AN515-58-50YE (2022) with RTX 3050 and i5 12500H which I got for around $1000 including Tax for my work(I don't know why Laptops are so expensive in my country Philippines, $600 laptops in the US costs around $1000-1100 here, RTX 4050 Laptops cost $1400 which is insane) and your tips definitely helped me to pick it up. It was the best deal around me as newer laptops were a lot more expensive ($100-$200 more) with inferior GPUs RTX 2050. I didn't need a much more powerful spec'd one as I do have a decent Gaming Desktop(I just need something decently powerful enough when I'm on the go or on vacation). I can't thank you enough Jarrod, your dedication in giving us benchmarks and tests for Laptops is a godsend.

      Adding just $10, you can get the Nitro 5 (ANV15-51-53DG) 4050 variant with i5 13420h, pretty much a refreshed Nitro 5 last year but newer gpu and cpu.

    • @RussTeeRider
      @RussTeeRider Год назад

      @@sakamoto8354 nahh. You can't find that in that price here in my country. Cheapest 4050 variant here is $1400 at least. You can find one at $1200 but it's the lower power variant with the MSI GF63 thin. Not worth it. You can find one online but I prefer to get locally on a mall cause I can get it via installment. And I got it with another $100 discount netting to just $900.

    I currently cannot find a match for tip 4! Nothing is great until you spend $$3K or more! Most displays are 300-350 nits. Asus is now closing in on 500 nits...but dont support HDR. Vivobook and Zenbook Pro models have OLED displays in the 400-600 nit range but come in thin, lower wattage chassis that still overheat and shut down. I am about ready to just give up and wait a couple years to see if manufacturers get serious about this!

Both have the same price and share most of the specs, but one - S5 has better 2K screen and slower R5 CPU, while LOQ has better i7 processor and not very good FullHD screen. Which one do I choose? Better screen and colors or better CPU performance? Would really appreciate your advice

    Heyy, i just recently came across your channel and i really like ur detailed tests and honest reviews. Just a small suggestion though for real world usage apart from gaming, like in da vinci , adobe premiere etc. it would be more helpful to see results of exporting and editing some high quality footage and even in blender using the classroom scene or something similar as a standard. These would convey more meaningful information as to how capable these machines are and if they are significantly better than our existing system.

    • @JarrodsTech

      The Puget suite of benchmarks make it easy to see how laptops compare with each other. The reviews also all include Blender Classroom scene results. This will all be listed under the Content Creation timestamp on videos.
