I have to agree with Boudy's observation that the musicians backing Angelina sometimes seemed to go a different way than what I was expecting, but she's such a professional that she can go with whatever's happening with her fellow musicians. We're spoiled because she's worked with tremendous people in the past, and had so much time to rehearse, perform, and record together that we come to expect perfection. These people were amazing, but I felt that because it was live-captured on phones, the sound quality was just not top-tier. James Thiel does amazing work, though, putting these videos together at the best quality they can be! Chris does too.
Angelina's performance of "Bang Bang" during Norway's Got Talent is difficult to improve on. The guitarist nailed it that day and 8 year old Angelina's voice floated perfectly on top of that tremelo guitar. That said, I still very much enjoyed her version in Vegas.
Of course it's meaningful to her because of NGT, but I think she brought it back because of how meaningful it is to her fans. On that note, I hope one day in her concerts she sits down, relaxes, and does a couple acoustics, just her and a guitar player. How special would it be to do that with Egil and/or Ivan?
We may not have an appearance by Eigel or Ivan, BUT there is a distinct PROBABILITY that one TOBY GAD will. Apparently he plays a MEAN Guitar to go along with his MEAN Piano playing. Those of us in LA may be treated to some performances we all hope for.... : Angelina . . . and 1 . . . 1 instrument, that is. 😇Jim

I don't know how the accompaniment could be improved from the NGT version. A single guitar, slow arpeggios and strums with HEAVY tremolo was a landscape of melancholy for her to sing over. That was pure magic.

This is why people have said that the second performance at her concert was much better than the first performance. Fortunately, her voice is the main feature of the performance, and she alone can carry the performance to a high level even when the other musicians fall short. I am not sure how many performances there will be at the upcoming concert in LA, but I am looking forward to it. It will be my first experience seeing her live so I hope they have the opportunity to practice together alot beforehand. Since she is based in LA, hopefully it will be a top notch production.

Appreciate another fascinating reaction Boudy. It WAS meaningful to be there and hear Angelina perform this live. She did NOT perform it in Portsmouth last fall. I didn't find the guitarists distracting at all but that one misplayed (I believe) note at the end sticks out like a sore thumb. Overall the band was great. Finally.... she has performed this live a number of times since NGT : in 2015, 2017 and 2022. The ONLY song from NGT she's never performed since is: Gloomy Sunday.

Thanks for your insights. As I understand, the music director got the songs a month before the show, he wrote out the arrangements and shared with the other band members. Later they got together and rehearsed. I would imagine they practiced a few days, at least 2, as seen on videos. For 20 songs I would expect more, but they are professionals. I also heard that between the two concerts, the music director had quite a few corrections to make, but I haven’t seen a video of Bang Bang from the second concert. Maybe the attendees can elaborate. Angelina performed Bang Bang on the very last episode of the TV show Lillehammer. Broadcast right after NGT and while still 8 years old. She also sang it on tour with Norah Jones in South Korea and in her first concert after Covid in Norway age 16.

After watching it, I was like that was cool! LOL What really got me is how he got the head turn of both Angelinas to sync up at the same time . That was a nice touch! I have to agree in regards to the guitar playing. I liked the guitar playing in the NGT version a bit better. Still, it was a nice call back to a song she did a decade ago.....

I totally agree with your comment on the guitarists. They were out of sync which is unfortunate especially because Angelina gave a beautifully haunting performance. I felt that way when I saw it live. It was disappointing. I think there should have been only one guitarist. I think one of them played the wrong chord at one time. Not sure if this was the first or second show. I saw the first show. Maybe they were better at the second show.

Both her performances of this song are amazing and atmospheric. I just wish she would work out who shot who. "Bang, bang, I shot you down; my baby shot me down." In the original song, she is the one shot down, both as a child and in adult life. That is the central irony of the song - a childhood game becomes real in real life.
Angelina is so precise I tend to believe it was deliberate. To me there was a "sour" not flat or sharp tone throughout the song. The instrument seemed different than usual. Could it have been an emotional reflection of the topic. Bang, Bang you are a love lost?
Boudy I know you have already reacted to several versions of "If I were a boy" , but you should listen to the accapella/acoustic version At St. James Cathedral to hear full echo effect of her voice. Do it even it is for your personal listening.
It’s already been said that between the first and second show, she had 50 changes to go over with the band. Don’t know how many practices they had beforehand, but knowing her aversion to singing something more than once, probably not many. Are we doing a new look, or have you just not had time to trim those curls? You know the girls would die for half that many!

I wonder if it's possible that Angelina is bringing us back again because of her distance with her father. You never hear anything about her father so obviously there's not much of a relationship there at all. Just a thought
In my opinion the two guitarists conflicted because they were playing similar riffs with a slightly different sense of rubato and the intonation of one or the other Fender Strat was way off leading to an unpleasant mismatch of pitch. This is something Strats are famous for with their spring whammy bars; most guitarists prefer a Telecaster when they are using a clean tone.The lead guitar was playing on the upper frets so the intonation issue was present throughout the song. They were going for an Fmin(maj)7 chord at the end; which, while disonant, would give it a very "James Bond" film noir type of feel. A reference to the beginning of the show with Diamonds Are Forever. The intonation mismatch of the high E note made it sound more like a train wreck than mysterious. It was a good idea, I think, but they just didn't pull it off. Hey, you cringe a little and move on. Overall the band was fantastic. Romel more than made up for this glitch with his beautiful trumpet solo on My Funny Valentine.❤
I have to disagree with you on your criticism regarding the band. The only reason I say that is the band here was light years ahead of the band she had in Portsmouth. This band was polished and professional. I’m sure whatever he was doing had been rehearsed. Rob Christie, the studio director and AJ’s mentor with Republic, had his hands all over this. concert. He was MC-ing, leading the band.at intermission, and he was there during rehearsals as shown in some BTS clips and in Angelina’s documentary. I’m pretty sure confident none of them were doing anything that hadn’t been approved.

NGT...this was her first perfect song and the best version of the song ever. It was sad to hear this band destroy the song. I just sat there thinking ...what are they doing? This should be amazing ? The first guitar didn't help her and the 2nd guitar didn't help either of them. The band needs to listen to her a hundred times over until they know and understand her style. Her fans understand music more than the average fan. That's why we have to call them out. This band was not good enough to play with her....at this point. Maybe they will improve? Not once did they elevate her singing to a higher level. Were these Republic Records studio musicians? Rob Christie was there and if he played one song ...alone with her, it would have stolen the show.

Her fans call her The Barefoot Princess. She always performs with no shoes when she sings. Why? The reason is very special. When she was 6 years old, she was traveling with her family in Iran where she met a poor shoeless girl in the streets that was about her age. She made money by weighing people. After speaking with her for a few minutes, Angelina noticed the scars on the girl's feet and asked the girl what her dream is. The girl said she wanted to be a doctor but she couldn't because she had to make money for her family. Angelina did what came natural to her, she gave the little girl her shoes and told her to not give up on her dreams. The girl then asked Angelina what her dreams were, Angelina answered that she wanted to be a superstar, and the girl said she would pray for her success. Since then, Angelina has performed barefoot in honor of that little girl and to those who are less fortunate around the world. She keeps this promise to this day. One of the reasons why we love her so much!

From all the video, I’ve listened to of the concert. I have to say I am not a fan of the band. They’ve took away from Angelina‘s performance and at times they overpowered the mic level she was putting out .The drummer was very boomy and overpowering also.
From those that went to both Portsmouth and Vegas, they feel the Vegas band was so much better. I was at the Vegas show and I felt for the most part the band was very good. I think once she is actually able to settle on a band and they can actually have a lot of rehearsal time, then maybe they can develop real chemistry. That may not happen until she actually does a tour.

Both her performances of this song are amazing and atmospheric. I just wish she would work out who shot who. "Bang, bang, I shot you down; my baby shot me down." In the original song, she is the one shot down, both as a child and in adult life. That is the central irony of the song - a childhood game becomes real in real life.

Angelina is so precise I tend to believe it was deliberate. To me there was a "sour" not flat or sharp tone throughout the song. The instrument seemed different than usual. Could it have been an emotional reflection of the topic. Bang, Bang you are a love lost?
I just think the guitarists were out of sync. One guitarist would have probably been better.
Boudy I know you have already reacted to several versions of "If I were a boy" , but you should listen to the accapella/acoustic version At St. James Cathedral to hear full echo effect of her voice. Do it even it is for your personal listening.
It’s already been said that between the first and second show, she had 50 changes to go over with the band. Don’t know how many practices they had beforehand, but knowing her aversion to singing something more than once, probably not many. Are we doing a new look, or have you just not had time to trim those curls? You know the girls would die for half that many!

In my opinion the two guitarists conflicted because they were playing similar riffs with a slightly different sense of rubato and the intonation of one or the other Fender Strat was way off leading to an unpleasant mismatch of pitch. This is something Strats are famous for with their spring whammy bars; most guitarists prefer a Telecaster when they are using a clean tone.The lead guitar was playing on the upper frets so the intonation issue was present throughout the song. They were going for an Fmin(maj)7 chord at the end; which, while disonant, would give it a very "James Bond" film noir type of feel. A reference to the beginning of the show with Diamonds Are Forever. The intonation mismatch of the high E note made it sound more like a train wreck than mysterious. It was a good idea, I think, but they just didn't pull it off. Hey, you cringe a little and move on. Overall the band was fantastic. Romel more than made up for this glitch with his beautiful trumpet solo on My Funny Valentine.❤
I have to disagree with you on your criticism regarding the band. The only reason I say that is the band here was light years ahead of the band she had in Portsmouth. This band was polished and professional. I’m sure whatever he was doing had been rehearsed. Rob Christie, the studio director and AJ’s mentor with Republic, had his hands all over this. concert. He was MC-ing, leading the band.at intermission, and he was there during rehearsals as shown in some BTS clips and in Angelina’s documentary. I’m pretty sure confident none of them were doing anything that hadn’t been approved.

NGT...this was her first perfect song and the best version of the song ever. It was sad to hear this band destroy the song. I just sat there thinking ...what are they doing? This should be amazing ? The first guitar didn't help her and the 2nd guitar didn't help either of them. The band needs to listen to her a hundred times over until they know and understand her style. Her fans understand music more than the average fan. That's why we have to call them out. This band was not good enough to play with her....at this point. Maybe they will improve? Not once did they elevate her singing to a higher level. Were these Republic Records studio musicians? Rob Christie was there and if he played one song ...alone with her, it would have stolen the show.

Her fans call her The Barefoot Princess. She always performs with no shoes when she sings. Why? The reason is very special. When she was 6 years old, she was traveling with her family in Iran where she met a poor shoeless girl in the streets that was about her age. She made money by weighing people. After speaking with her for a few minutes, Angelina noticed the scars on the girl's feet and asked the girl what her dream is. The girl said she wanted to be a doctor but she couldn't because she had to make money for her family. Angelina did what came natural to her, she gave the little girl her shoes and told her to not give up on her dreams. The girl then asked Angelina what her dreams were, Angelina answered that she wanted to be a superstar, and the girl said she would pray for her success. Since then, Angelina has performed barefoot in honor of that little girl and to those who are less fortunate around the world. She keeps this promise to this day. One of the reasons why we love her so much!
In general, I was disappointed with the LV band. Specifically the guitar player for her NGT performance of "Bang Bang" was awesome.

From all the video, I’ve listened to of the concert. I have to say I am not a fan of the band. They’ve took away from Angelina‘s performance and at times they overpowered the mic level she was putting out .The drummer was very boomy and overpowering also.
Less is more with AJ.

From those that went to both Portsmouth and Vegas, they feel the Vegas band was so much better. I was at the Vegas show and I felt for the most part the band was very good.
I think once she is actually able to settle on a band and they can actually have a lot of rehearsal time, then maybe they can develop real chemistry. That may not happen until she actually does a tour.
