Some songs have waited a hundred years for Angelina to sing them.
Angelina will go down as the greatest female vocalist/artist of all time. Even the haters will be humbled.

One of my favourite Angelina performances ever. Superb emotional level.
I usually degrade all karaoke performances but, when I think she's 'trying out' all these facets, I get more entranced by it. This also fortifies my argument that AJ doesn't 'sound like' others - she CHANNELS them. She taps into their stream and dives in, swims along and we're going along for that swim.
Aw I don’t see the comment saying she is a karaoke singer but accurately saying she channels the original singer to learn their techniques. She has channeled dozens over the years to build a loaded toolbox that allows her use her extraordinary, unique, sounds at will and with ease.

Angelina is in her element. No nerves, just a consummate professional doing her gig with her new microphone she received on her 12th birthday and of course nailing it! 🇳🇴🇺🇸 Etta would be proud!
She was excited to finally get that microphone, but she sang into it backwards. The logo is facing outward towards us instead of in towards her. But her voice is so powerful we don't notice the difference. She's just sitting there on the couch chilling as she belts out that song. Amazing!
@@KenChawkin She may well be doing that on purpose, as it captures a fair bit more of the sound bouncing from the walls, giving the vocal a sound that match the old track nicely. It makes me think of some small stage in a smoky night club. You're right about her powerful voice :)
@@TheBjornwilly interesting idea. In the videos that followed she had the mike facing her the right way. I never noticed it facing outwards again with the logo. She's really belting it out on the last two songs with Toby Gad. We're hearing another new era. Exciting!

Once Angelina gets discovered by the masses by singing her own original songs, then she can put out a double album of her favorite classic songs from the American Songbook that she Angelinifies. I've said that for years that she owes it to the History of Music to put her stamp on them for future generations. If she does it before she is "Discovered," people will say she's just a cover singer & it won't sell. Sad, but I think it's true. I hear that all the time that Angelina is just a cover singer. But, as Angelina has said, it's harder to do justice to a cover song & make it your own, than to sing your own originals, especially when they are such iconic songs that she covers.
Just over four years ago I was binging kids in their 20’s and 30’s reacting to classics when the image of this little girl sitting on a blue couch showed up as a recommendation. She looked very serious and while I generally don’t care much for child performances (much like you have said in an Angelina reaction, you’re generally supporting their future selves not their current talents), I clicked anyway. I was so blown away that I binged everything on her two RUclips’s and everything on Rusty Shackleford’s RUclips (in one sitting). Since that day I have barely listened to anyone else!! I did manage to attend the Portsmouth, NH concert last year but was unable to attend Vegas…

I first saw this video of AJ about 4 months ago. I had to listen to it 8 or 10 times a day for a dozen weeks or so. Everything that she does here is so much better than perfect 🥰🙏

OMG. This is an absolute classic performance by Angelina of an incredible song by Etta James. I've listened to Etta's version and am gobsmacked by the changes that 12 year old musical prodigy Angelina made to it. Wrote the above before you reacted. Will come back and edit it after your reaction (!). ADDED: For example, the vocal fry that AJ adds several times is just insanely good. Her belts are out of this world. Top 5 AJ performance for me. The soul she exhibits here is a precursor to Bad Valentine. She has SO much more to treat us with. And agree with you about a cover album of classics like this!
Steve I assume you’ve heard the Chris Stapleton/AJ mashup of this and Tennessee Whiskey? I mean, Chris is one of the best vocalists around today, but then AJ comes in and burns the house down! I agree with your professional comments on this incredible non-scripted performance of Angelina sitting on a couch singing into her 12th birthday microphone gift without rehearsal, belting her version of Etta James's "I Rather Go Blind" recording! Musical prodigy Angelina has shown that when she was younger can channel Jazz Sings voices from back in the Day! When Angelina closes her eyes and feels the music in her soul, she becomes that Artist's.
We need five double albums from Angelina. Are you listening, Republic Records? We really really really need these! We know she's been working on so many new recordings of originals. She received this microphone for her birthday as she requested and this song she performed out of joy for receiving this gift. My eyes also went wet when i was you floating away in this genius' performance of 12 yrs old playing around with her brand new Neumann mic, given to her by the Norwegian military band she recorded the IT'S MAGIC album while she was 11. Maybe very short before they moved to LA. We never saw this couch in LA again, did we?
The last 1 breath run will always be in the Hall of Angelina Magics. And this Hall is already over-stuffed by her age 18... Guess when she's 70 they need to have built an own "Louvre d'Astar" for her.
The microphone was actually given to her by her Uncle Michael. It was stated by him in an interview article, "was intended for her 12th birthday but was delayed in giving it to her by several months". April 6 2018 when the video was uploaded to her cover channel, in her original post she stated, "had just received this new Neumann 102 mic for my birthday and wanted to try it out" which shows that she was in fact 12 and this song is the first after having received the mic. After this she next posted "A Million Years Ago" on April 7 2018 and several others that month which is still available on her cover channel. The mic being backwards in this video was likely not intentional as she received al lot of messages in the comment section that it was backwards and she never did it again. Several years later she upgraded to a Neumann 103.

I'm not so sure that the audio that we're hearing is not from that exact moment what we're seeing. We know that it's a brand new microphone she got for her 12th birthday and I'm sure the mix was done after the fact but from all accounts that I've read she's actually singing what we hear there at that time while Seated on the couch and then the audio was mixed after the fact. Let's also keep in mind that it's an over 19 second-long belt toward the end there.

As always AJ knocks it out of the park. But, you should check out Beth Hart's renditions too. One with Joe Bonamassa, which most people gravitate to because of Joe's extended guitar solo. One with Jeff Beck at the Kennedy Center Honors for Buddy Guy which, for me, was even more emotional.
AJ's version is closer to Etta James. Beth's will blow your socks off. Both are perfect.
I would buy that album, also a jazz club night with just Angelina- fied covers. Really great reaction Boudy its been a while since you were so animated about Angelina,'s videos. Still lots of these nuggets in her young musical journey to discover.

I believe that this was her first video with the new Neumann mic, and I think she's holding it backwards in the video. So she rerecorded the audio but used the first video.
This is true, she is holding it the wrong way around. Perhaps intentionally as the audio was pre-recorded.
Of course I should also have said, one of the best examples of her incredibe vocal fry and overall ability at this age.
Apart from THAT voice, she is just wired up for musicality.

Lol! It is so hard to accept/believe what Angelina can do sometimes. This was not a favorite of mine the first time I watched it. I truly believe it had to do with the disconnect between the music/voice and her image on the screen. After about 5 more listens (including closing my eyes), it moved up to top 5 (since then, it's moved down a little because of her newer stuff). Btw, your native language rarely shows itself, but in American English, we're too lazy to pronounce both "t"s in Etta. You say Et ta, we just say one "t" ,et a (some folks make it a "d" sound). Mondays wouldn't be Monday without Boudy. Thanks!
Hahaha that’s probably because I went to a British school as a kid, throughout the years (and lots of nic cage movies) my accent morphed into what it is today, but that’s a story for another day 😅
