  • In this video, I explain what it means to "bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance". This passage is often cited to teach that an individual must "turn from their sins" to receive eternal life. What did John the Baptist preach?

@Mike H. Yes, the rich young ruler went away sad. It was because he approached Jesus as Good Master and asked Him to give him one more "good thing" to do to add to his list of good things he was already doing to get eternal life.
Jesus took him down his dead end route and gave him a good thing to do so that he might see how futile it was.
He went away sad because he didn't say , Oh I see it now. I need to believe only on you as the Christ Jesus for my eternal salvation.

That's because he is a high-rank demon. Kenneth Copeland is a hybrid human possessed by a demonic spirit. There are clones, hybrids and demon-possessed human beings all around us. I am a victim of gangstalking, and if you don't know what that is then it's because you are either not a true believer in Jesus Christ, (meaning you don't believe in repentance and holiness, therfore you are possessed by a counterfeit spirit that mimics Jesus Christ), or you are one of them posing as a believer, or you will be gangstalked someday if you really are in the doctrine of Christ.
Most believe in OSAS but this isn't God's will. A person can choose to turn away from serving God and go back into sin. Yes, you remain saved if you continue to repent whenever you sin, but if you stop repenting and striving for holiness, then God will eventually cut you off.

But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built a house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.”

I think the last verse there undermined your point.
14What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. 18But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without [f]your works, and I will show you my faith by [g]my works. 19You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe-and tremble! 20BUT DO YOU WANT TO KNOW O FOOLISH MAN, that faith without works is [h]dead? 21Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made [i]perfect? 23And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was [j]accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. 24You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. 25Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? 26For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

What about the parallel passage in Luke 3, where the crowds ask, "what shall we do?" Then he proceeds to tell them in verses 10-14, describing good deeds.
Repentance is something we receive from God. So even if we repent from evil works, it's not us working for our salvation, it is a gift granted by God. Acts 11:18 "When they heard these things they fell silent. And they glorified God, saying, Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life."

We can’t confuse John’s exhortation on what SHOULD be done with what MUST be done to be saved. There’s plenty that I should do, but only one thing I must do (Acts 16:31).

    • @collin501
      @collin501 Год назад +1

@@OnoDiamante That's fine, but in the video it seemed like you specified what John was and wasn't saying in terms of repentance. To your point about believing in the Lord Jesus for salvation, the passage doesn't describe what sort of faith is entailed. The Lord said in Luke 14:27, "Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple." It may not be a requirement that a person fulfills this in order to be saved, but the kind of faith that saves will receive these statements and embrace them, or else there is a contradiction. Consider the faith of the man in the parable who sold everything to buy the field with the treasure with great joy. That's why the disciples left all and followed Him, because they believed, and that evidenced their faith. It's not that giving up stuff earns eternal life. It's that we give up because of preferring the thing we believe in, such as in the passage below. Otherwise, why would such actions lead to eternal life. And if we aren't taking such actions, have we seriously listened to the call to follow Him?
And he said to them, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, who will not receive many times more in this time, and in the age to come eternal life.”
      Luke 18:29‭-‬30

@@collin501 So then it is a requirement lol what if I told my son “you don’t have to obey my rules to be my son, but if you’re really my son you will obey me and if you don’t then you’re not my son” it’s just a roundabout way of introducing works into the picture. If you conflate salvation with service, you end up with another Gospel that cannot saved and only breeds confusion and lack of assurance. m.ruclips.net/video/OM22DqrzV6M/видео.html

    • @collin501
      @collin501 Год назад +4

@@OnoDiamante I listened to your video. I don't think you're taking the larger thought of Paul into consideration in Ephesians 2. You haven't defined what salvation is in the context because works don't earn it, but works are connected to it.
You suggest that people are setting up subjective standards of assurance. But the Bible actually defines this. 1 John 4:11-21. Verses 15-16, believing in the Son is connected to knowing God's love for us. Knowing God's love is connected to abiding in love, and abiding in His love is connected to loving our brothers. As verse 12 states, "IF we love one another, God abides in us and His love is perfected in us." Here is the connection with assurance. "By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment." This confidence for the day of judgment is connected to God's love for us, and us abiding in His love and loving one another. You cannot sever these from each other. And if we say we abide in that love of God that gives us assurance, and yet do not love our brother, then that is false assurance and is called out as such in 1 John.
This is a vital part of the message of the new Testament. Because universalism is not true, so God doesn't save all people regardless of their faith. Rather, He saves those who believe in His Son. But what kind of belief? Is it possible that they believe in the only Son of God, Lord of heaven and earth, who commands them to love one another and to renounce all that they have, whether to give it away, or to steward it for His glory, and yet this produces no effect in their lives? What kind of a Son of God are they believing in? It's always a good reminder that we haven't saved ourselves, and that our works doesn't earn us the grace and favor of God. But it is that same grace and favor of God that trains us to "renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age." Titus 2:12 In other words, it's not that such a life earns the favor of God. It's that such a life is an enjoyment of the favor of God, and fighting against that is not good for our assurance unless we introduce a false assurance.

Hey Ono, what about the parallel passage in Luke 3 which detail what the ‘fruits’ are, he says they’re good works.
This has really spun me out.
I have done some research on the topic and it seems John preached to the Nation of Israel that they had to turn from their sins or they’d be judged (AD 70) but also as Paul explains in Acts he also preached faith in Messiah.
How do these two accounts be reconciled?

    Passage

    Hebrew/Greek
    Your Content
    Matthew 24
    King James Version
24 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
25 Behold, I have told you before.
26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
    48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
    49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

You're free to mark and avoid me all you wish but my stance remains the same. Why it would offend you, who claim to be saved or any believer, that I stand on scriptures from Genesis to Revelation plus nothing, minus nothing, is beyond me. I also noticed that you avoided answering the question as to whether you agree with this video before hitting the block button, which again, speaks volumes.

Are they still saved because originally they were saved by putting their faith in Jesus? Basically if you once were saved by putting your faith in Jesus then started putting your faith in being saved by faith+works is that person still saved? I need your help. Could you please help me understand these verses clearly? I’m confused. Is it talking about Jews and gentiles must obey the law? To show you are saved?
“Who will render to every man according to his deeds: to them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: but unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; but glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: for there is no respect of persons with God. For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; (for not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.”
    ‭‭(Romans‬ ‭2‬:‭6‬-‭16‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

These guys want to make salvation so contingent like its a reward for good people but its not. Salvation is simple and its for all people especially the bad ones because thats all that there are. "There are none good not one"

It is clear that fruits of repentance means “Change” brother, I am sorry you are working hard to fit in your believes
    Luke 3: 7-14
7 Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
9 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
10 And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then?
11 He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.
12 Then came also publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do?
13 And he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you.
14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.

In John’s Baptism, you failed to tell the whole truth, in that WHILE they were baptized, they were CONFESSING their SINS. Repentance from sin, and turning to God. That’s Bible.

There is this universalist I talked with, and they believe that faith in itself is a Work. What are your thoughts on that?
To 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞 or to 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡 are verbs (actions), therefore, works.
