Because you can't just shove your beliefs and what you've obtained wisdom in people's faces. This is most likely the main error in Christians because it's the "truth". That will cause conflict and that will not solve anything. Try give them hope as what God gives hope to His people. Try to understand why they chose that path, pray for them and be patient. In time, they might awoken

Bible speaks quite a bit on the Lord hardening people. If we we believe all will be saved we're in a bad spot. That's worldly and not Godly.
He does speak of all coming to the truth but that not all will come to it hence there's a hell. If all were to be saved he'll would have not existed.
Jesus speaks about on this Himself.
Do you not know or understand that many will never see, they can't see.

J Pep whom did the Father draw to Jesus? Jesus said my sheep hear my voice, who are those sheep? Those who already had a relationship with the father. John‬ ‭6:45‬ ‭“It is written in the Prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me-” that’s why Jesus said, those who know the father come to me. Why didn’t some Jews know him? Eg the Pharisees, why? Cause they didn’t know the father and have a relationship with him through faith.

I tried talking with my younger brother about the one known as Jesus; I tried 3 times. Each time, he was more angry than the last; and he told me to shut up.
I used to be in the Air Force. I wasn't able to reenlist. I was later accepted into the Air Reserves and had plans to return to active duty. Shortly after being accepted into the Reserves, I broke my back. 3 PT test failures later, I realized that the military was no longer an option. I walked into my hotel room and burst into tears. But then I remembered the 4th time I had a conversation with my younger brother. I had 'given up' on him having a shot at salvation; but the 4th time, *he came* to *me* and apologized. He wanted to hear me out this time. He is a Christian now; this is a man who went out and got a pentagram tattooed to his elbow (I think he did it to spite me after our 3rd conversation.)
I don't know what the connection is, if any; but maybe we should stop trying to take things into our own hands and just pray more. It may be a sort of arrogance to think that you can 'change' someone. God has to do it. After all, I wasn't always a Christian and nobody could change my mind; I remember all-too-well. God had to do it, Himself, for me. It used to upset me. "Why, God? Why did you reveal yourself to me? What was the point? Nobody wants to hear me. I don't understand." It wasn't until I let go and left everything in His hands that things started to work out. I can't say for certain weather or not that's how it works for everyone; but that's how it worked for me. I felt so happy when I looked at my brother's new picture. He was standing under a statue of Jesus, smiling. That's something that I never thought I'd see. It was like God was telling me "you are *not* failing. It's ok; I am here."
I'm still stressed out and my future seems so hopeless and bleak; but I know that God is with me. Somehow He is going to get me thru this life, broken back or not. My grades started to slip (I had been relying on my GI Bill to get paid for going to school.) The school ended up kicking me out and wouldn't give me a second chance. I have no income now and the bank is threatening to take away my car, the only thing I have left. I purchased it in 2015 when I still had a career ahead of me (or so I thought.) With a little over $5,000 left to pay off this 30,000 and something dollar car, It's going to be taken away, like everything I put into it never mattered, just like the Air Force. I'm trying to file for disability with the VA for mental health issues and my back; but even that isn't looking very good. I feel so alone and scared; but I know that God is with me in these hard times. We don't get to understand all of it; and I don't know why. If times are hard for you, you're not the only one. Everything happens for a reason; and more often than not, we don't really get to figure out 'why.' Sometimes I feel like it's just the book of Job, to see if I'm still His guy. There are times where I want to just throw that book away and quit for good; but I know that it's real. I'm just grateful that my family loves me enough to let me sleep in the garage, even though I'm a useless bum who can't work anymore.
God bless you all. I sincerely hope that everything works out well for everyone, and I do mean everyone. I'm a bit of a 'troll' when it comes to the internet; and again, the 'mental health' issues... I'm not mentally sound. I may be bipolar, among having PTSD issues, anxiety over many things, and a busted back... but overall, I'm a 'good' guy. Although I tend to insult people and argue online, I don't mean it. We're all just people; and we're all just trying to get by.
I pray that God does pull through and guide us all in the right direction. Peace.

Christ will not turn away anyone who comes to him. Not one.
      John 6:37
"All whom My Father gives (entrusts) to Me will come to Me; and the one who comes to Me I will most certainly not cast out [I will never, no never, reject one of them who comes to Me]."
To believe that God damns some to hell before birth is a doctrine of demons, IMO. That belief goes against His very character. We see what the Father is like in the Son, when He walked on this earth. Healing the sick, delivering the oppressed, and raising the dead to life, having mercy on all who came to Him. Did you see anyone He turned away? No, no one. He is a merciful God full of grace, not desiring that any perish but that all come to the knowledge of the truth and receive the free gift of eternal life with Him. That is His character.
      Ezekiel 33:11
"Say to them, As I live, says the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn back, turn back from your evil ways, for why will you die, O house of Israel?"
You can choose to turn away from Him, but that is on you, not God.

If you want to know why God hardens some hearts and not others, read the Bible. He will harden those who continue to make themselves His enemy even after hearing His word. He will not harden those who are responding in faith (which we all have the opportunity to do, by the grace of God). When the Word is spoken, respond well. The more we harden ourselves, the more he may harden us. Likewise, those who respond in faith can have their faith grown by God. Be careful! The measure you use when you hear is what is used to add to you. (Mark 4:24) This is how to be good soil. Realize your response upon hearing the Word is up to you, and is the difference between the Word being sown on a path, or in good soil. TAKE HEED WHAT YE HEAR.

Yes, God wills for all to be saved, but He will not break our will to do it. He desires our cooperation and communion, for that is the nature of love and God is Love. So He will harden the hearts of the self-hardened by freezing His communication to them. Repentance is the thawing of the heart that God looks for so as to reopen those lines of communication, making the work of grace possible again in that soul.

We realize it's not a result of self-determination but the grace of God. He gets all the credit and the gospel becomes infinitely precious to us.

It seems to me after 27 years on my journey with the Lord there are things this side of heaven that will remain a mystery. We can look at this topic, try to see what it is that God is saying in scripture, but we can come away with different views. We do know that a partial blindness comes upon the Jewish people but we are seeing more Jewish people come to faith in Yeshua today . That tells us that the fullness of the Gentile nations prophesied about is coming to fruition. We are close , very close to the end of the age and the return of Jesus..

Andrew Corbell I struggle with the same issues you do and so on... How can God place us in a fallen world, without a choice of our very existence or even our salvation, while inheriting the distant sins of our long gone ancestors, and still be a loving God? I struggle with the idea of God being a cosmic puppet master, but I’m pretty sure every Christian has these doubts. Despite these ideas, just cling to assurance in Christ. @@andrewcorbell7216 Like so many of us who have walked a life of faith a long time these are things to ponder. But we have to remember just as scripture tells us, God is good, not evil. There is no darkness in Him. Because of sin the devil was given permission to be the prince of the air , and the world literally became broken. The tree of the knowledge of good & evil is not really a contradiction..God does not tempt us, but does test us. To see if our faith is genuine and to help us to grow and develop...Why did all these things happen in the order they did? Who knows exactly. But He's given us faith to believe because of the testimonies of the gospel and Jesus is the author of that faith. Child like faith, keeping our eyes on Him is a daily thing, a work of discipline. The world is full of evil and distractions and more so today. Ultimately God will get the glory for saving us, reconciling us back to the Father, ridding the earth of evil and sin and make things new. God is in the redemptive business . You mention your biggest fear is Him not knowing you. I strongly encourage you to google all scriptures concerning faith, permanent salvation, and especially read all of John 3, 6, 10. These chapters deal with those who believe will never perish, knowing the Good Shepherds voice, and having a peace of mind that a believer is in the hand of the Father and nothing can snatch them out. Jesus tells us His desire is to give us rest in our relationship with Him. If you struggle with thinking He doesnt know you, I can assure you , if you have been born again He knows you. I would suggest spending more time reading His word, and worship in quiet time. Read Jeremiah 33:3..It changed my life forever

I hope you will allow me to share some valuable truths to help you ..If you have a pastor teaching that, my advice is to run to the nearest door and dont look back. Let me show exactly what the bible says about the Holy Spirit. These are but a few places..
1 Corinthians 3:16 "Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?"
Romans 8:11 "But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you."
Romans 8:9 "However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him."
Galatians 4:6 "Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”
Ephesians 1:13-14 "In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory"
Andrew I pray the Father touch your heart, open His word , His love to you to give the faith you need to enjoy your relationship with Him. Our faith is not IN anything in this world. It sounds to me very much like your under spiritual attack by satan. Pray according to Jeremiah 33:3..seek God with all your heart..use your authority over demons to rebuke out loud in Jesus' name. Not presuming we can understand more than our finite minds are capable of; as if the mind of God could be wrapped up in a neat little box and fully understood, by his creatures. When it is said (in the question), that "GOD Keeps People From Salvation", that is going beyond Holy Scripture. Just incase anyone is shaking their head, "yeah". It seems like their doctrine of man is a too elevated. We are headed for hell, born in sin and trespasses, enemies of GOD In CHRIST, following satahn in the kingdom of darkness. However, GOD Intervenes On Behalf of HIS Elect, Granting Them Faith (by the Preaching and Hearing of the Glorious Gospel of CHRIST), by HIS Grace In CHRIST, alone. HE Converts Them, Taking Out the heart of Stone and Giving Them a Heart of Flesh, Making Them to Respond in Faithful-Obedience, rather than in rebellion. And this - all to the Praise of HIS Glorious GRACE In CHRIST!

How genuine do you think is their love for God in this case? In fact, why didn’t God just not create those He ended up NOT electing?
What you’ve been saying above do not address the heart of the question(s) vs calvinism: If God is Just, was He being fair by choosing who will be saved, and what was the basis of His choice, seeing everyone is a sinner in His eyes?

I feel that praying is a big part of the gift of the revelation of truth and believing. I was a doubting believer but I prayed every day for truth and for YHWH to bless me with taking the vail away. Slowly over time He is testing me and I keep praying, every time I keep going when I'm tested He blesses me with new levels of hearing learning and seeking Him and I promise it's not easy, more than worth it though. The ALMIGHTY answers prayers. We are only blind when we choose over and over to do wrong and ignore the Most High. The bible says he gave them over to their sin, that implies they had many chances and wore out the patience of the Most High. Pray your name is in the book of life, pray your name is not blotted out of the book of life, pray you don't fall into temptation, etc many verses that imply it's up to us , not fully, but in part. Also many scriptures about praying and seeking Him no matter what, that imply the power of our choices to believe and sometimes stubbornly, blind faith produces strongest faith and relationship with the ALMIGHTY and the Savior. He desires all to be saved, simply said, so it must be our will and choice, again at least in part. Love you all keep shining and believing!

I think the question would have been better worded as “Why did Christ purpose some not to believe?”. The word “want” is a bit vague and allows for levels of desire. For example: if God wanted men to have free will yet also wanted all men to be saved, one of His desires had to be stronger than the other for Him to act in the way He did. (I’m neither affirming nor denying free will, just using it as an example).

God through His grace can enable us to believe and God never forces or coerces us to believe. I appreciate Dr. John Piper very much, but I just don't agree with his Calvinistic presuppositions. In your own time, you can look up the following Scriptures: Jer. 7:31; Ez. 18:30-32; Mark 6:6; Luke 7:30; John 3:36; 5:30-47 (which forms part of the context of John 6:35-71); Acts 18:27; Rom. 9:30-32; 10:13; 1 Tim. 2:4-6; 4:10; 1 Joh:2:2 and there are many others. Obviously many discussions can be held about these Scriptures, but I don't think this is necessarily the right platform to have long discussions. If you want so some good alternative answers to verses that Calvinistic brothers and sisters in Christ use to support there doctrines, look at the Soteriology 101 website and RUclips-channel; Dr. Ken Wilson's book, The Foundation of Augustinian-Calvinism and follow and enquire some non-Calvinistic commentaries. This is great & sheds a lot of light on things, bc it reminds me of GOD and the phahoah who's heart was hardened by TMH --- he got what he deserved bc he was truly Evil towards the Israelites. They probably won't even stop and listen to this message. The title ticked me off for one and I had to listen to it just to make sure that's not how Christ feels. He wants everyone to come to him. Everyone and that is clearly what the message said when I listened to it. In a world full of so much depression, people already feeling unworthy and lost, you must have no idea just how dangerous seeing that worded like that can be to someone whose already feeling on the edge. John 6:Rejected by His Own 43 Jesus therefore answered and said to them, “Do not murmur among yourselves. 44 No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. 45 It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.
John 14:Jesus Promises Another Helper 15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever- 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.
John 16:The Work of the Holy Spirit 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
1 John 2: Let Truth Abide in You 26 These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. 27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.
Romans 9:Israel’s Rejection and God’s Justice 14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? Certainly not! 15 For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.” 16 So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy. 17 For the Scripture says to the Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth.” 18 Therefore He has mercy on whom He wills, and whom He wills He hardens.
19 You will say to me then, “Why does He still find fault? For who has resisted His will?” 20 But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, “Why have you made me like this?” 21 Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor? 22 What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, 23 and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory
John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Matthew 22:14 “For many are called, but few are chosen.”
Mark 4:20 But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”
Acts 17:11 These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. 12 Therefore many of them believed, and also not a few of the Greeks, prominent women as well as men.
Romans 10:16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” 17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
1 Timothy 3: The Great Mystery 16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory.

The Scripture that tells us HOW to get into the Kingdom and How to be Born again is John 3:5 and Acts 2:38. Jesus said in John 3:5 That we must be Born again of water and of The Spirit in order to get into The Kingdom.
Acts 2:38 Peter explains HOW to be Born again, and that is to repent and be baptized in Jesus Christ Name for the remission of your sins and then you will be filled with The Holy Ghost. Then you will be RAPTURE READY!
Then Jesus also says in Mark 16 That these signs will follow them that believe and is baptized, it says they will speak in New Tongues
. The New Tongues are The SIGN or EVIDENCE that The Holy Ghost has entered you and now you are BORN again!
Just like in the natural when a baby is born there is the water it is brought forth out of and when it is born it already has a soul, and when it takes its first breath, and that is his spirits entering into him/her. And whatever country that child is born in, it will be evident by the language it will automatically began to speak.
The same in the Spiritual, we must be brought forth out of the water ( baptized) and then GOD fills us with His Spirit. And now we are BORN AGAIN into The Kingdom of GOD, so now we WILL speak the native tongue of heaven because this is The Country we are Born into The Kingdom of Heaven is the place of our rebirth. Bizarre teaching. Having grown up in Calvinism and having now moved away from it, more and more it becomes clear that it is a twisting of the Bible. If God *could* save all but chooses not to, He is not good. He could not say He loves all. And as Dave Hunt points out, that’s what Calvinism ends up teaching: God does not love all; is not kind to all. Calvinism flat out rejects the verses that put all of predestination in the light of God’s open call to all to accept His repentance/faith/forgiveness as a free gift. On the contrary, God does desire that all be saved, but just as the Pharisees and experts in the law “rejected God’s will for them” Luke 7:30, so too do people reject the pleading of the Holy Spirit to accept Jesus. Rejecting Him then hardens their heart, and once man has hardened beyond the point of turning, the message and urging of the Holy Spirit is closed to them. This is not a fake simulation game. If God’s *selection* is what saves then Jesus did not have to die. God could have just chosen who to save. That’s in effect what saves in Calvinism. This makes a mockery of the clear open call that the Bible extends to everyone. It isn’t fake. It isn’t a simulation. And free will is the *practical* application from the Bible anyway! Not one person apart from perhaps Paul gets saved by being dragged to it apart from having to make a choice. And that choice for many involves years of temptation to deny Christ and follow their own desires, some having known the truth and having rejected it. There is a definite battle of the will and each person must make that *choice* to bow down and follow Jesus or to reject Him…! This is the human experience. We do not experience mere election. We have free will and confronted with the gospel, we must choose this day whom we will serve…!

No where does the Bible say say that God is withholding or preventing salvation. Jesus said that Satan deceives us and that repentance leads to mercy. While God permits the god of this world to deceive those _willing_ to be deceived, Jesus said those who come to him will "in no wise be cast out." (John 6:37). Contrary to your analysis, God will *_always_* grant repentance to those who seek him out. You are making God out to be a liar, and that is extremely dangerous.

I think you're misreading John's and the Bible's message. He never said that those who seek God out will be rejected, on the contrary: they are exactly the elect. The thing about God's sovereignty is comparable to the author of a book - God operates on a higher level than us. If a person believes in God and chooses to come, the ultimate reason is that it's God's sovereign will, a gift of faith and a desire for Jesus, that God gives to those whom he chooses. The Bible does in fact say that God hardens certain hearts, Pharaoh as one example, the Israelites in Isaiah's time another. I'd suggest listening to 8:10, and especially 9:10, where John says the same as you in that the hardening of hearts is not happening to people who love the word of God.
This truth is an assurance to God's people in that if they find a desire to seek God, then the fact they have that desire assures them that their salvation is God's will, and nothing can break that bond since God upholds our salvation!

@@jeffvandyke1239 I completely agree. It is both. We are both predestined as His elect AND we turn and decide to follow Him or not (free will). Saying it is only personal choice is also a bit on the other side of the continuum and equally finite thinking. It's not either/or, both can be simultaneously and compatibly true.

    • @BANDIT198455
      @BANDIT198455 4 года назад +2

The Bible is clear, God Himself chose who would be saved. The election is His choice, and it was predestined at a very specific time in history - “before the foundations of the world.”
God did not look through the corridor of time to see who would eventually choose Him - that is impossible with God being All Knowing. It is by God’s sovereignty that He chose. It was a choice completely independent of any human will or intervention. If God looked down the corridor of time, if God’s decision was based on man’s decision, that would be God choosing in a passive sense, and man choosing in the active sense. But Scripture uses active form of the verb in Greek, prognosis, or “foreknowledge”. It is the concept of a very deliberate choice. The elect are the sinners who God has predestined to respond to the Gospel. Each and every person born is born as a sinner. Completely dead in our sins. A dead man cannot choose to be alive - nor can a spiritually dead man choose to be reborn in Christ. Our sin separates us from God. Our sin places us at enmity against God, it is an act of treason. God is a righteous and just judge, and He has declared all of us sinners as guilty of this treason against His Holy Name. Our punishment is a tormented eternity in Hell, separated from God. Christ’s sacrifice on the cross is the only possible payment worthy to pay the fine for our crime. He paid the debt owed. By God’s grace, we can have saving faith to repent of our sins and turn to Christ, trusting Him for our salvation.
RC Sproul said, “Calvinism does not teach and never has taught that God bring people kicking and screaming into the Kingdom or has ever excluded anyone who wanted to be there. Remember that the cardinal point of the Reformed doctrine of predestination rests on the biblical teaching of man’s spiritual death. Natural man does not want Christ. He will only want Christ if God plants a desire for Christ in his heart. Once that desire is planted, those who come to Christ do not come kicking and screaming against their wills. They come because they want to come. They now desire Jesus. They rush to the Savior. The whole point of irresistible grace is that rebirth quickens someone to spiritual life in such a way that Jesus is now seen in His irresistible sweetness. Jesus is irresistible to those who have been made alive to the things of God. Every soul whose heart beats with the life of God within it longs for the living Christ. All whom the Father gives to Christ come to Christ (John 6:37).”

Agreed Michael. his ideas are a grabbing at straws to claim an answer. There are other verses that show He has a DESIRE that no one be destroyed. Eg 2 Peter 3:9.
0r saved. Mat. 1:21. As shown at Mat. 7:13--23 people are walking 2 "roads" one most are on going to "destruction" and few on that leading to "life". Therein we see the separation is about who does "the will of God" and those who dont/ didnt. In order to CHOOSE to do that will faith is required. In turn faith is gained by understanding Jesus' illustrations and prophecy, some of which are quite deep. The Greek word "epignosis" (accurate knowledge) is used 19 times as needed, eg Rom 10:2.. Most Bibles sadly only translate that word as "knowledge".
People are taught that our salvation is the most important thing in the Bible. Not so. It is the vindication of his Name that has been sullied by people in general. EG The nation of ancient Israel. Jer 23:27, Mal. 2:1,2. So to preserve that NAME his people must strive to do His will once learned. John 17:3, Luke 13:24. And to maintain that course to the end of their life or to the end of this era. Mat. 10:22, 24:13. So we who have had the accurate good news declared to us and make sustained effort to do his will will be saved, those who choose to ignore it will perish. John 3:16 Of course we have a choice just as Adam had.

  • @ninjason57

This is why hypercalvinism is a dangerous problem in Christianity. At the beginning the answer was said as "Man has no self-determination" and then later says "No one is made blind against their will". So which is it? Is God preventing some to salvation or not? It's a simple Yes or No. It shouldn't take 12 minutes to answer this question. Some other thoughts I have listed if anyone cares to read:
    - Regarding Self Determination salvation:
2 Thess 2:10 "They[wicked people] perish because they did not accept the love of the truth and so be saved." (So did God not will hard enough for them to be saved? or did they not choose to accept the truth?)
    - Regarding faith: Why would Jesus rebuke so harshly those with little faith and praise the ones who have great faith if it is not somewhat a product of free will (im not arguing that it cannot be gifted but that it is not ONLY gifted)
    - Then Piper leaves out the next verse of 2 Timothy 2:26 "Then they may come to their senses and escape the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will." (Showing a combination of God's will and then subsequently mans choice to respond)
    - Regarding repentance: If Jesus was aware that repentance is ONLY able to be achieved because God has predetermined some and not others then he would have zero reason to speak about the kingdom of God. He could have lived his life, died for sins and ascended to heaven with nobody in the world knowing who he was. Why would it matter if he revealed himself as the messiah to the disciples? God already determines who's in the kingdom right?
If there are believers struggling with this you're not alone. Please consider listening to Dr. Leighton Flowers on his youtube channel "Soteriology 101". He will clarify this confusion better than I ever could.

It means... this is how God-loved the world
Or God love the world thus....
It does not mean God loved the world a lot. Or God love the world so much.

The response from Pastor John seems to involve a lot of theological contortions in order to maintain Calvinistic principles. God is outside time. He knows the beginning and the end, and, accordingly, who will be saved and who will not. Man, within time, has for his part free will to choose to repent or not repent. That said, sin, particularly vanity and pride, leavened with time, hardens hearts and dulls sight, thus making true repentance difficult. From the scriptures, I think man must choose, for else why is the message preached? Why John 3:16-17? Once the decision is made by man to have a contrite heart, humble himself, and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, God forgives. The thief on the cross is an excellent example of this. Man's free will to choose has nothing to do with God's sovereignty -- God is Sovereign and knows the end from the beginning. It has to do with free will and the paradox of free will for a man being a creature within time seeking to commune with a God outside of it.
The above has nothing to do with Arminianism, which Calvinists love to kick out as the either/or proposition if one does not subscribe to Calvinist principles. For example, if one is truly saved, salvation is eternal. One who is saved does not live in perpetual fear of losing one's salvation.

No one seeks God. The Light came into the world but men love darkness. All who sin are slaves to sin. We love Him because He first loves us. Jesus' sheep hear His voice. Adoption is decided by the parent, not the child. Being born again is not of the will of the flesh or the will of man. Repentance is granted. Faith is a gift. Free will has to be defined. A starving lion is free to eat straw to stay alive but he won't because it's not in it's nature. A sinner is free to choose salvation but he never will because it's not in his nature. Natural man is poor, blind, pitiful, and naked and helpless and hopeless outside of God's grace. We are by nature objects if God's wrath.
Those He foreknew, He predestined, called, justified, glorified. His children were CHOSEN in Him before the foundation of the world.

This Paul chap you refer to also literally believed that the heart was the organ responsible for emotions, thoughts and decisions. You probably chalk this up to peotic license, but do a bit of research. See what the anatomical knowledge was in the bronze age. They thought the brain was a source of the mucus that oozed out from the nostrils. These are the people you trust to understand the mind of the most brilliant being ever.
Note that Jesus himself never clued us in to the fact that the heart was just a pump to circulate blood.
Hand wave this off if you like. Just bear in mind (not heart) that biblical scholars are very selective and subjective in what the choose to delve into. There seems to be a game of what to take literally and what to assume was poetic or allegory.

    • @anglesmith4840

@@skippy675 The anatomical knowledge of bronze age human beings is probably a subject that diverges from culture tot culture, but we do know that this Paul chap was a jew that knew the Torah backwards and front. The Bible has the following to say on the subject of the mind:
      Jer 17:10
“I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.”
When He says that he will test the mind, I sincerely doubt that he is talking about the brain's 'mucus producing capabilities' but rather thoughts.
      Same in Ps 26:2
Prove me, O Lord, and try me; test my heart and my mind.
The Bible further makes it clear that decision making is vested in the 'head' when Jesus as leader of the church is portrayed as its head.
It should also be noted that research has shown that people who receive organ transplants receive the thoughts and memories of those that they inherited the organs from. So we arnt all that sure exactly where what is coming from in the body ourselves.
That being said, Jesus didn't come here to be a biology teacher, his goals were moral goals and the scientific advancement of humanity would seem somewhat superficial when eternal life could be had through faith, in fact handing out advanced knowledge, like how to refine uranium, could very well have brought more pain and catastrophe into the world than doing any good.

Decision making being vested in the head of the church much more likely means from the top down. That sh!t rolls down hill. Jesus is the sh!tter, and we are the ones being shat upon.
Humor me and provide me one link to the research that shows the recipients of organ donations receive the memories of the donor. That should be good. A human got a heart from a pig and survived for a couple months. Did that dude "inherit" the pigs memories?
I'm not suggesting that Jesus should have focused exclusively on medicine, biology and so on. But he did show an interest in healing people from physical ailments: healed the sick, restored sight of the blind and what not. Instead of all the magic tricks to show off, why not teach people about germs and how to effectively slow their transmission? Or how to purify water? You know, stuff that could have improved quality of life, allowing better focus on living a moral life? Yeah, obviously he steered clear of showing people how to brew beer or mine and enrich uranium.

How to avoid germs was dealt with in Leviticus and water drawn from wells tend to be purified so no problem there, but I sense you are more angry than you are logical so perhaps you should go talk to someone about your childhood or something first and then try to solve the complex matter of morality and the role Judeo-christian religions play in it.
