- Welcome everyone to my review of the MG HS PHEV.
In 2019, when MG first launched the HS to replace the GS. I was impressed by the upmarket feel to the interior and value fro money the HS offered.
But, instead of going the way of a full EV, MG have decided to make the HS a plug-in. Taking on the likes of the Hyundai Tucson and Ford Kuga PHEV's. Авто/Мото
Very very good review. I have got the HS PHEV in australia. Yes, it does vibrate when the engine is cold on changeover from ev to auto mode. The engine does sound a bit coarse, grumpy at that time, but when its warmed up, you don't really notice the changeovers unless you are really looking for it
Thank you for your comment Aseem. Glad it wasn’t an isolated experience. Yes, once warmed up the transition is much more smooth.
I enjoy listening to you talking, very clear and well articulated.
Fantastic review, one of the best and informative that I have seen. Put my order in for the MG HS phev exclusive last month. After owning a bmw m140i for 3 years I can't wait to start saving on fuel 🤣.
Thank you so much for your comment Chris. You’ll be in for a shock in how different it is to drive compared to your BMW. But I’m this economic climate it’s good to think of the Pennie’s.
@Auto Bears your more than welcome mate. Yeh it's very different but I am looking forward to it. Reviews I have seen on the car is fantastic and just what I am looking for in a car.
Hi sorry to jump in, how are you finding the car Chris?
@@nunyabizniz1983 the car is fantastic I really enjoy it. Only issues I would say is when your on full battery you can't use the heating and the battery does go flat quick.. The cars big with plenty of space. Using around £40 a month on fuel so ticks most boxes for me so far. Had no issues with it.
@@chris881989 that’s amazing 😮 I am currently spending about £120 a month on petrol and that’s just on small journeys. That’s so strange about not being able to use the heating with a full battery? Why is that? I’m new to the electric / hybrid type vehicles so please excuse my ignorance lol
Very good video thanks for sharing 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 one point according to the brochure and the manual the steering wheel does have aHeight and Reach Adjustable Steering Wheel! I don’t have mine as yet so can’t see how to adjust the wheel personally.
outstanding , love this channel you are amazing the best you tuber.
Thank you so much for your comment George. I’m so glad you’re enjoying the channel.
Excellent review, looking to change my car and this so far is on my 1st choice. Seen the dealer today and plan to do a test drive later in the week. Ticks all the boxes for me and having now retired from being involved in industrial tooling and components 90% of all products (including some very well known brands) come out of the Chinese factories and you don't know it, so this being from China does not put me off.
Does it have different regenerative braking levels? No one seems to be mentioning this in their reviews.
all in all would you buy the hs ev or the hs without the hybrid. i am concidering the mg hs exclusive but not test drove 1 yet.
You are one of the best youtubers for me. The agent of MG company in Iraq says that the origin of the company is British, but China bought the company from it and began to manufacture cars under the supervision of British engineers. Is this true?
SAIC owns them now. Chinese manufactured and designed. Don't believe that bullshit, they bought MG to take over the reputation.
British engineers? 😂😂😂
They bought the name and logo, nothing more. Real MG owners spit on this.
It wasn’t engineered very well when it was British owned.
They have a design centre in the UK but 99% Chinese now. The MG3 was the last car to have a higher content of Britishness. They bought the name.
The UK still has a part to play in the MG brand. With design and testing in the UK. With the Hector being spotted in the UK it will be great to see a new model in the lineup.
Thanks for the review.
Just to confirm, the steering wheel does have both reach and rake adjustments.
Hi there Ron.
As you saw I didn’t have reach adjustment and I did pull pretty hard.
Hi Auto Bears
It does have both adjustments. It’s the ZS that doesn’t have reach adjust.
Here is a different review, fast forward to 7m33s, shows reach and rake adjustments on the steering wheel.

@@RonE_UK looks like I had it pulled out as far as it would go
Thank you for the review, game changer!
I'm gonna stick with Corolla. :)
Yep, vibrates when cold but once warm the vibs go away. Accelerate fast in EV keeping the ventilation system off and petrol does not kick in. Did you like the whistle sound when in EV driving around 40? Love mine.
Thank you so much for the reply Tim.
That is very odd with that vibration as it feels pretty bad under my right foot. The EV noise is pretty cool though I agree.
That vibration goes away after driving for a while does it?
@@mharro88 It does. Noticed once the engine has warmed up the vibration goes.
In my car the vibration went away at round 4000 miles
Do you find it noisy with windows open on electric a loud whistle as you execrate ????
Hi David. Thank you for the comment. I don't recall the car being too noisy with the windows down.
Can you give more information about the control
Hi there Dennis.
What control are you after?
Handsome beast Mmm ? , beauty is in the eye of the beholder, which spec and colour did you BUY ?
Thank you for your comment. Beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder. Some even call me a handsome beast, or bear!
The poor souls!
This car is 100% chinese. Full stop right there.
So, doese that make a difference?
@@kengoodwin7461 Yes, of course.
@@gotj how?
They all said the same shit about Hyundai and Kia and now they own the market
I phone, most tablets, most electronic devices, Also not 100% Chinese. Bosch pilot system Michelin tyres.
